New baseband on Eagles Blood 1.05 Froyo - T-Mobile LG G2x

I downloaded the gb leak from LG when it came out. I liked it at first but I missed the LG camera. So I flashed CWM with nvflash. I did a nandroid backup. I was still not rooted yet. Then I flashed Eagles Blood 1.05 Froyo then did the supeoneclick root method and then flashed faux kernel. I happened to notice that I kept the new baseband the whole time. Which was a surprise to me. Do jot know if this will help anyone but just thought maybe someone might want to know if they wanted the baseband. I am not sure if this will work with other roms but I tried it with Eagles Blood 1.05 Froyo.

I'm pretty sure none of the ROMs in this forum have a baseband included in the .zip file. So none of them should change the baseband in any way.
Since no dev has uploaded a flashable update for the baseband (probably so nobody bricks their phone), the only way to get it is by using the lg updater tool.
It seems that the 2.3.3 roms and the 2.3.4 roms from cm7 source are working with the new baseband, I haven't checked to see whether any based on faux's aosp are working.
Hope that helps anybody.

Can you make a nandroid of Eagle's Blood 1.0.5 with the new baseband and post it here? I'm trying to do the update via LG's program but it's bricked my phone and crashed windows 7 twice. This is my first experience with the dreaded blue screen of death!

if you're thinking a nandroid will backup the radio, you're wasting your time. if that were the case, everyone could simply flash the rooted gb leak that is posted and instantly have the new baseband. FOR ANYONE THAT IS CURIOUS--AS OF RIGHT NOW, THERE IS NO WAY TO GET THE NEW BASEBAND WITHOUT FIRST FLASHING THE RECENT GB LEAK. not yelling at you tidewaterns, just wanted to make that clear to everyone.

I am not sure. I just posted this on the forums because of people wanting the new baseband. I did a backup of it and I will post it if anyone wants to give it a try. Just let me know. Do I need to check with doniqcc before I post it since he is the original creator and I am definitely not trying to step on someones toes. I am in no way shape or form a dev like him I was just trying to help out.

OMG it wouldnt matter.... the radio/baseband is NOT included in a nandroid... anyways... how was the new radio on froyo???

I do not know how it got on there. The way I got it on there was by doing the steps above. I was not trying to achieve anything. I just wanted to flash Eagles Blood Froyo. It was a complete accident I just noticed that it stayed the same after flashing Eagles Blood Froyo.

once you have the new baseband, you can flash any g2x rom in the world and retain the same baseband. think about it. has lg or tmobile released a radio for this phone yet...separately? no. the baseband in the leak was flashed along with the rom. there is no other way to get it other than to go through kdz or lg updater. nandroid cannot and will not ever backup the radio .

I got it about it does not retain it. I was just letting someone know that is a way to retain it.

I'm curious to know does the baseband contain anything that fixes random reboots and other issues that we are not getting in other roms that just came out without it's presence?

How to get the latest baseband? Anyway?

Hey.
How to get the latest baseband? Anyway?
The new gingerbread came with different baseband, but none of the roms here have it yet....
so I want to know is there some way of getting it onto the gingerbread official rom zip posted here?
I have cm7 now, so I can flash nandroid froyo backup, then do the update via lg website, which will get me the gingerbread and new baseband, and then flash over the gingerbread zip which is rooted over gingerbread previously installed?
Is there an easier way?

I was asking about this earlier in the q&a forum.
It doesn't seem like its a universal baseband seeing as the update is made only available for the P999DW and not the DWP, so if you have a DWP and flash the DW baseband, you could be in store for some bad times.
Running just the rom right now seems to be just fine on the DWP, for me that is, as always though, ymmv.

We all can flash the new baseband with LG own update tool. Developers are not taking care of us at all as we can flash it.
The only thing that developers are doing it preventing us from having root with it which makes no difference.

The newer baseband "should" be an upgrade over the old one. Its too early to tell.
I dont know about you guys but reception, data and battery used by the original radio for this phone sucked the big pastrami for me. I get no bars where my vibrant and NXS get at least two, thus this thing is sucking the battery searching for signal. And this happens to be at work where i spend 50 hours a week at. This issue alone makes me very disappointed with my g2x.

[Q] New Baseband/Radio

Does anybody plan on posting the new baseband/radio or do we have to use that dangereous LG tool? Thanks in advance peeps!
as of right now, the only way to get it is through lg updater or flashing the kdz file.
Wheres kdz file?

and here's the kdz flasher
http://www.mediafire.com/?3hd4ao113lx8gq4
Given how smoothly this went for me I have to wonder about the "dangerous" LG tool. Really think this might be user error in most cases.
Flashing kdz will update only baseband? so no need to restore back to stock?
that's what im trying to figure out... is that just for baseband? lose root?
I will be pumped if it is just this easy!
Sent from my butt using XDA Premium App
The kdz updater will put the entire gingerbread update, including the new baseband on your phone. So yes, you will want to be reverted to stock, unrooted, with stock recovery.
At that point, you can nvflash cwm and flash either of the pre-rooted 2.3.3 roms, or from what other's have reported, you could even flash either a froyo based rom like EB froyo 1.05, or a CM7 rom. I suppose you could nandroid your existing configuration right back over the updated baseband, and have the features you're used to using right now, with the added benefit of the new baseband.
But I'm not sure if the instant GPS lock is a function of the new baseband, or if it's rom-specific...anyone know?

Follow these instructions step by step and you can update the baseband and then flash/nandroid any rom you like:

And the directions for using the KDZ tool is provided by the OP of that thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183168
Hope this helps.
edit: Of course, you realize that flashing roms is at your own risk, and although many of us have found froyo and CM7 based roms to be compatible with the new baseband, our evidence is anecdotal at best.

[Q] Help with Gingerbread installation...

Okay I literally just got this phone yesterday and I see all this talk about Gingerbread and how great it is so I decided I want to try it. I know next to nothing about all the technicalities about this phone so I youtube'd how to do it and found this video that I plan to use to help me in the process. - watch?v=YuURgkUYn1A
So if I follow that process and use the files he uses, I should have Gingerbread and still have my connection to AT&T, GPS, and WiFi? Also, when AT&T finally does release it officially, will I be able to just go to Software Update on the menu and get the official AT&T Firmware and not have to worry about all this technical stuff again?

Try THIS link out, its got pretty much everything you want to know to get started(including vids). The only things that don't work on GB currently HDMI and on some of the roms, bluetooth. If you want to get the official OTA when it drops you will have to go back to stock, easiest way is to use THIS method. Also when GB does drop, Devs most likely will make their own roms based on the official GB.
Once your rooted and have recovery installed use THIS thread to find the ROM you want...
This is just a rough overview, so make sure you READ carefully and take your time, any question you have is usually answered in the appropriate thread.
Here is a link to the latest AT&T Gingerbread leak. Use Odin to flash it, and if you stick with the included stock kernel, everything works as it should. It looks very close to being ready for release. If you want it rooted, flash Entropy's kernel and then use CWM recovery and the Superuser zip you can find on here to install su. Then, flash the stock kernel again to keep everything working (video, bluetooth, etc.).:

So back on topic lol. Xia, Dman's CatyRom is one of the most recent GB roms (and plenty more), it's based off of the leaks from At&t. Once your ready, look into that!

If I do this, then I would have to start with a fresh ROM install correct? When you restore the Nandroid, doesn't that restore the BB also?
Backup your current ROM restore a stock based ROM use the LG update tool to update the baseband, reflash CWM then restore your backup of HFP. Restores don't change baseband you need to use your computer to baseband (LG tool for updating/KDZ method)
