Hello, I tried yesterday the last Devil Kernel with CM9 because it looks very interesting. Im using Datafix 29032012 which I know is not the latest but work very well for me. After boot lot of apps start foreclosing and system became unstable and after battery pulldown I had bootloop. So reset to factory was the solution with CM9 kernel and all is good again. I see that is a Datafix in Devil kernel, can that be the problem? I have to remove Datafix first?
Thanks!!
Solved: Devil Kernel need the Datafix with the S in the name.
the last devil kernil has problem with compass

Hello XDA
I am loving this new build for MIUI I am running the new 108050 and I was wondering what kind of Kernal I can run with this rom or if you can help me figure out my problems.
In the OP jface states that one of the bugs that needs to be fixed is get the kernal support up to date because it would support anything up until nightly 85
I have downloaded fauxs kernals from 3.3 onward and everytime I load the kernals I get no sound and things start to get buggy?
Does the new Rom have this kernal issue fixed or do I just have a special phone
Same here

Likely that it doesn't play nice with these kernels
Miui doesn't play nice with the CM7 Kernels. It has bugs, even wit hthe new version(I had two battery pulls yesterday and some apps don't run). I tred Faux's kernel and wasn't able to hear calls....so I stuck to stock. It almost works, and with it being so pretty, that's enough for me.
I had read somewhere that morfic's trinity kernals play are compatible with MIUI...but that the camera can get a little wonky at times- and i have experienced this with the 1.7.29 version where the colors get messed up- but has anyone tried the trinity kernal on the 1.8.5 yet?
Thank you for your response I really do love MIUI I just wanted to undervolt
I just installed the [Kernel]CM7 [2.6.32.45] on my phone with CM7 already installed. when I turned on the device after the LG logo my screen turns black?!! What coulfd be the issue...I apologize if i come off as a idiot....
You installed what kernel???
From who?
From where?
Cm7 rom has a stock kernel, so you must have flashed a custom kernel, did you check to see if it was compatible with cm7??
Yes its this kernel [Kernel]CM7 [2.6.32.45]. I downloaded from XDA and it says its compatible with CM7. When i rebooted the G2x from CWM the LG logo showed up and then went to a black screen
Just enable USB connection and put a different kernel on ur phone and flash it. Ur phone obviously can't handle the kernel

Also this happened to me when flashing an underclocked kernel from cm7. But then i flashed a different version of it and its now working perfectly i get mad battery.life.

Which CM7 Kernels could the G2x handle fo.....Im new to the whole kernel thing & im tryna get some help & I want to get more power from my phone.
Each kernel is different for speed, battery life, experimental... so on and so on. Every chipset is different in our phones some can't handle certain kernels.

So what kernels would work on any G2x?? Thanks for the tip idk all our chip sets are different.

Don't forget to wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, then flash kernel, then run fix permission, reboot, enjoy

Sounds they are referring to Faux's Kernel...
You have to match them up properly as CM7 just went through a few kernel changes and the Custom Kernel developers have to make them compatible. I think Faux has .44 out which is supposed to work...
Then you also have 4 options from Faux: Pre-OC/UV or Stock Speeds; and CM and DS battery drivers.

Thanks yall u helped out alot.............I just installed the WEAPON ROM with the FAUX Kernel & im using Pimp my CPU for OC & UC........Besides Faux what kernels would be good to use on all G2x phones?
I just got the Captivate yesterday and I'm in love with it. I've been modding my Backflip for a while and I'm fairly certain I know what I'm doing. I've been trying different ROMs and I've currently settled on a rooted stock 2.2 ROM.
I want to change my kernel though, so I put my phone in download mode and flashed the Galaxian kernel via Odin, it finished and then my phone started boot looping. So I one clicked it and tried again with SGS flasher, boot loop. One click restored, tried with CWM, boot loop.
I've also tried Talon, Speedmod, Setiron and a stock kernel with all 3 methods. Nothing will flash without boot looping.
That kernel is designed for reoriented i-9000 roms

What about all of the other ones that were supposedly for 2.2 ROMs?

It needs to be a true captivate 2.2 kernel a lot are i9000's you just need to read the op for whichever kernel you are looking at thoroughly. 90% of the time the dev states if its an i9000 kernel.
The speed mod kernel here, forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893880 SHOULD work just make sure to wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery after install and it should boot.

You will have to read the description in the first post on the kernel you want to install, and the kernel you were installing was a gingerbread kernel

Yeah. You were trying to install a gingerbread kernel on a froyo ROM. That won't work.
Thanks guys! I think I downloaded the wrong version of SpeedMod the first time, it worked this time. Firstly I didn't know that the difference between i-9000 and i897 meant that much. Secondly, I'm not really sure how to read the kernel topics, they're confusing to say the least :S.
I'll learn sooner or later but thanks for your help everyone.

Yeah some are very confusing the biggest help Is to learn the difference in firmware revision codes. Most captivate roms/kernels begin with k. like kh3, kf1 that sort of thing and from what I remember j is for I9000 eg jv1 etc...

Hello,
I have read about kernel for a while.
The phone I have is Verizon Samsung Galaxy s3 I535 with Darkhorse them SynergyRom 1.7 installed. I do not install Kernel yet. I read lot of forums and quite not sure which kernel to install into SynergyRom 1.7. Don't want to have kernel mixed up causing bricks. Have Nandroid backup two back up one on phone and one on pc. I have read this Kernel requires busybox and ez recovery?
I await your reply.
Thanks in advanced!

I am using Imoseyon BETA leanKernel on Synergy 1.7. Use EZ Recovery to flash CWM 6.0.1.0. You do need to have Busybox installed. Let us know how it goes!
Your phone will look like it's turning on 2x every time you turn it on/reboot. I believe this is just kexec doing its thing.

The last time I used invisibleks v2 it did not auto reboot? You had to reflash on each boot in recovery..has it since been updated?

I have not had any problems with needing to reflash it I always just reboot recovery and it loads the kernel but does not go into an actual recovery since it is hybrid

Works as charm! Was scared first but it went well! If I want to install different rom will have to flash stock kernel before flashing different roms?
Thanks!

Nope! When I flash new versions of Synergy my kernel goes back to stock. Just remember if you chose Imoseyon's kernel from my link above that it is only for TouchWiz roms.
He has posted an AOSP version over on rootz as well.

+1 I flashed this kernal last night and so far have seen a huge improvement in battery life (not that it was bad in the first place). Overall it seems snappier as well.

So I lost my phone, got a new one, rooted using the casual root/unlock w/twrp method found on this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2332825
Is it possible to somehow improperly root/unlock without bricking? Or that I just got a bad download. I am having random reboots with just about every kernel I flash, some worse than others. I can only run the stock kernel. Running a clean 2.9 and the latest TWRP. Would it be useful to do a full wipe and "reroot/unlock"
What rom are you using and what kernels are you trying to flash?

Right, sorry. Liquid 2.9..tried flashing multiple builds of BMS, a few lk builds, dkp, and team kernalizer kernel. I think that's all of the available kernels for the s3

Well, I follow AOSP kernel development a little bit. If I were you, I'd start by flashing a kernel built within seven days of July 20th cuz it seems every two to three weeks, kernel commits render older roms useless. If you don't follow AOSP commits in the more popular rom or kernel threads then I suggest staying away from custom kernels cuz they move quickly. Custom AOSP kernels built on 8/13 won't work on older roms for example.
Edit: I got July 20th cuz LiquidSmooth was last updated on July 20th btw. Just to be clear.
Good advice. I don't follow the aosp commits but I did have the same thought and flashed an older version of BMS (I really want to give it some burn) didn't work... I'll try an older build of lk too just to see where I am.
Really hoping 4.3 somehow resolves this issue for me.
Thanks for your help.

Hope so too. I'm trying out Slim Bean beta 2 with BMS kernel from 8/15 and it's working great performance wise. I'd even suggest trying newer 4.3 rooms (CM, Unofficial CM, PA, etc) just for a couple hours and trying your hand with a custom kernel from 8/13 or newer. Or trying a newer 4.2.2 nightly with a custom kernel. For BMS, I believe GideonX said that 7/30 is the last JB 4.2.2 kernel he's made.
How long would you say you waited before flashing the kernel? I usually flash rom, reinstall my apps, set up home screens, then flash a kernel. Maybe 20 minutes between rom and kernel flash cuz of habit.
