Hello XDA
I am loving this new build for MIUI I am running the new 108050 and I was wondering what kind of Kernal I can run with this rom or if you can help me figure out my problems.
In the OP jface states that one of the bugs that needs to be fixed is get the kernal support up to date because it would support anything up until nightly 85
I have downloaded fauxs kernals from 3.3 onward and everytime I load the kernals I get no sound and things start to get buggy?
Does the new Rom have this kernal issue fixed or do I just have a special phone

Likely that it doesn't play nice with these kernels
Miui doesn't play nice with the CM7 Kernels. It has bugs, even wit hthe new version(I had two battery pulls yesterday and some apps don't run). I tred Faux's kernel and wasn't able to hear calls....so I stuck to stock. It almost works, and with it being so pretty, that's enough for me.
I had read somewhere that morfic's trinity kernals play are compatible with MIUI...but that the camera can get a little wonky at times- and i have experienced this with the 1.7.29 version where the colors get messed up- but has anyone tried the trinity kernal on the 1.8.5 yet?
Thank you for your response I really do love MIUI I just wanted to undervolt

Hello everyone,
I'm new to Android roms and kernels in general, so I really would like for someone experienced to tell me if I'm getting this right... I've googled extensively and read through most of the kernel's develompent thread, a forum search also didn't really answer my question (which probably has a really obvious answer...)
-> I'm currently on stock 2.3.4, rooted.
For my first rom/kernel flash, I'd like to go with Jame Bond and CM7. However, apparently the current CM7 RC does have some battery drain issues, which is not something I want. Jame Bond only offers 2.3.4 kernel downloads, though... I've read that CM 7.0.2 was a nice, stable release. It also is 2.3.3 - which the current Jame Bond download apparently doesn't support. I'd hate bricking my rather new NS... so, how can I proceed in order to get a non-battery-draining CM7+Jame Bond setup going?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If I may suggest... Go with the rc1 of cm7 with the netarchy kernel. I'm using the said setup and its stable as rock! Oh... And I'm using nscollab rom which is based on the cm7 rc1. Battery life seems to be fine. Hope that helps

Hey akshayf,
thanks for your suggestion. I've checked out nscollab / netarchy. However, Jame Bond seems to be closer to my idea of an ideal kernel - so I'd really like to get it going with plain CM7.
I think then the only solution for you is to search for older versions of the Jame bond kernel which are based on 2.3.3

CM7 7.0.2 is 2.3.3 as you correctly stated, however you can the latest CM7 nightly or CM7 RC1, which are both 2.3.4. Problem solved ! (I'm running CM7 RC1 with JB kernel).

I am using the latest nightly with the James Bond kernel and this has been the most stable I experienced with this device yet. Even the battery life is great.

whats the best combo for rom and kernal for the g2x.
im about to install the eagleblood 2.3.3bg (since it has the stock camera) and was looking for a kernal so i could oc it. thanks for the help
also whats best 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 or 2.3.5????
For the most part, rom choice is going to come down to personal preference. As for kernels, faux's is pretty popular. Personally, I'm running eagleblood 2.3.3 and stock kernel.

I am running Triggers 2.3.5 with Fauxs 0.3.5-sv OC to 1.4Ghz and it is awesome. No reboots or issues at all.
There is no kernel made for the ota (2.3.3) roms only 2.2.2 froyo, 2.3.5 cm, eb2.3.5 so basically any rom that is based off the new 2.3.3 ota will not have a oc kernel for it yet LG didn't release source, and best rom kernel combo is definitely cm, and fauxs latest or morfics it a toss up, but honestly the newest nightly runs so nice u wont need one and it has voodoo built in and boot up time is super quick, idk IMO oc kernels are not needed with this phone it is already sick quick I get 3100 quadrant with cm stock kernel, now if u want to save battery life grab a UV kernel
blondie or brunette?? LOL its all up to ur taste for roms and kernels! Im having a great time using the rom and kernel on my sig! But all depends on you and your phone... (some phones dont like oc/uv), the only way to know is to flash, flash flash and flash (watch out not to become a flashaholic...)
Any rooted 2.3.3 ROM, with the Stock Kernel, and LG Camera App.

Hello Xda-developers community!
I have been having consecutive problems with trying to flash a custom kernel onto my Lg G2x.
I can successfully flash any custom ROM with ease, though when I go to flash the kernel, it installs successfully, but upon reboot the device never loads.
I gave it a good 10 minutes to load, though just sits at a black screen.
I'm not sure if I am doing something rong or not.
One of my attempts was to flash the Trinity kernel with CM7 already on my G2x, though upon successful installation, during reboot I simply get about a 5-10 second android robot logo, and then the screen just sits at black not loading.
If anyone would mind helping me solve this problem, or perhaps tell me if I am doing something wrong, I would greatly appreciate it!
If it doesn't boot then the kernel is not compatible with your rom. If you are running CM7 nightlies only the kernel supplied with it is compatible.
I have the latest CM7 release for the g2x at the moment.
I tried the Trinity Kernel with Bionix 2 and CM7, so far the same result.
I saw a you tube video promoting someone who had the Bionix 2 ROM and Trinity Kernel with each other. I tried flashing them both, but it never booted.
Are there any roms compatible with CM7 at the moment?
Or is it only the Eagle's blood ROM that has kernel compatibilities for the g2x.

The only kernels compatible with CM7 nightlies are the kernels packaged with the update zip for that nightly. Flashing anything else is just a waste of time and you are going to keep frustrating yourself to no end.
When you say the latest cm 7 for the G2x do you mean the latest nightly or the latest stable release 7.1? If you have the 7.1 you should be able to use the trinity ELP but if you are using a nightly build then you can only use whatever came with that build as Jboxer said already.
Edit There are a few that you can use for 7.1 not just trinity ELP just look in the thread for each kernel and they say which ROMS they are compatible with. Also eaglesblood 2.4 is based of cm7 so if it workes on EB 2.4 then it will work on cm 7.1. Also when you flash a kernel make sure you clear the cache and dalvik cache. And wehen you boot up for the firsdt time after clearing the dalvik cache it could take 10 min to boot up mikne usually takes about 5 minutes but I have seen it take up to 10 so keep that in mind.
I solved the problem, thanks! Now I was looking around for roms and I found an miui rom for the g2x.
I like the ROM, so any idea what kernel would work with that?

Under developement, faux's kernels (based off cm7). 3 different types, cm7 stable, nightlies and a different version for nightlies. Miui works with one of his cm7 kernels. I believe it is 44s

can someone help me out, i have 3 nexus s 4gs each on different roms but some of the same problems.
first, my phone (nscollab+franco kernel) and my wife's phone (Matr1x rom + kernel) will sometime shut down, and the power button wont work, i have to pull the battery to get it to work again
second, this is rare but every now and again the phones reboot and play the boot animation in inverted colors not sure why.
but is there something im missing, new radio, spl? or are my settings for the kernels not right, any help would be appreciated.
Does this happen on Matr1x v11.5?

Hey mathkid. No I tried to dl that version but flashing was failing, has the link been fixed? I would like to get new version on my phone as well, also could you recommended settings for nstool for me, like voltages, CPU government, ext.
Oh man I just looked and you closed the rom thread so you mean the kernel and no I'm running franco and my wife has the old matr1x rom so. what do you suggest I flash
Try Matr1x v11.5 cfs and start off w/ 1000/100 ondemand w/ no deep idle
if that runs well we can adjust further
K will try, I'll report back
I keep flashing and flashing kernels.
Air
Matrix
Steve Garon
Trinity
Franco
etc
etc
Does anyone use an older dated kernel of any of these on any ICS ROMS and have such stability and good battery life that they are unwilling to upgrade to anything else ?
If so, what is your combination and setup ?
Thanks
Griff
airkernel 3.0 is what I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21935053&postcount=1 its been good to me

I'm quite happy with the stock CM9 kernel. What ROM are you using? Have you tried sticking with it's stock kernel? There's generally a reason the ROM dev chooses the kernel they do.
I have had good results with CM9's stock kernel and the Air kernel for ICS. I had instability with matr1x and trinity.
Im using franco's 1.1 and while it's very bare bones (no bln/bld/voodoo/oc etc) the kernel performs amazingly well and I couldn't be more pleased. I got tired of reboots with other kernels and haven't suffered even a single one yet.
