whats the best combo - T-Mobile LG G2x

whats the best combo for rom and kernal for the g2x.
im about to install the eagleblood 2.3.3bg (since it has the stock camera) and was looking for a kernal so i could oc it. thanks for the help
also whats best 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 or 2.3.5????

For the most part, rom choice is going to come down to personal preference. As for kernels, faux's is pretty popular. Personally, I'm running eagleblood 2.3.3 and stock kernel.

I am running Triggers 2.3.5 with Fauxs 0.3.5-sv OC to 1.4Ghz and it is awesome. No reboots or issues at all.

There is no kernel made for the ota (2.3.3) roms only 2.2.2 froyo, 2.3.5 cm, eb2.3.5 so basically any rom that is based off the new 2.3.3 ota will not have a oc kernel for it yet LG didn't release source, and best rom kernel combo is definitely cm, and fauxs latest or morfics it a toss up, but honestly the newest nightly runs so nice u wont need one and it has voodoo built in and boot up time is super quick, idk IMO oc kernels are not needed with this phone it is already sick quick I get 3100 quadrant with cm stock kernel, now if u want to save battery life grab a UV kernel

blondie or brunette?? LOL its all up to ur taste for roms and kernels! Im having a great time using the rom and kernel on my sig! But all depends on you and your phone... (some phones dont like oc/uv), the only way to know is to flash, flash flash and flash (watch out not to become a flashaholic...)

Any rooted 2.3.3 ROM, with the Stock Kernel, and LG Camera App.

[Q] Any OC Kernels for Stock ROM?

I see all these kernels for CM7 and EB and TW ROMs but none for stock ROM. I'm sticking on stock ROM for a while mainly due to the LG camera app which I love and my GPS is fully functional which I use frequently. I'd love to have an OC kernel or just a kernel in general to flash on the stock ROM. Does one exist that I didn't see in the dev section? Thanks!
you should try eaglesblood 1.0.4 froyo because that is pretty much like stock with some optimization. You can flash EB 1.0.4Froyo directly over stock without wipe, then apply the Trinity kernel. That works for sure because I tried it (what I did was stock --> eb 1.0.2 --> eb 1.0.4 froyo --> kernel, all without wiping)
you could also try the Trinity kernel for EB 1.0.4Froyo on your stock rom. (should work; I didn't try so make sure you have a backUP)

Any kernel that works for EB Froyo should work on stock froyo, and any kernel that works for EB Gingerbread should work for the leaked gingerbread. EB is just modified stock.
The main thing you don't want to do is use a kernel build for CM7 on some other rom or the other way around. CM kernel are completely unique and aren't compatible with anything else.
I've used the Trinity kernel for EB froyo with the stock rom and it was very smooth. The only bug I found was that it broke USB mounting.
Thanks for the reply guys, will give EB 1.04 FroYo a shot later on!!

Same reason why i wanted to stay stock when I was running CM7 I read some of the other threads and I'm now running EB froyo with the trinity kernel and I havent thought about going back.
You get to use the stock HD camera and record in HD which matters as well I have gotten better benchmarks averaging around 3200.

[Q] Suggestion for new ROM for Nexus S

Currently running MIUI 1.99 with Matr1x #5 kernel. Looking to flash a new ROM and/or kernel as it's been awhile. There's so many of each that I don't know where to start. My main priorities are stability and speed.
The only other ROM I've used is Cyanogenmod but I had a lot of issues with random reboots. Have these issues gotten better?
Any ROM suggestions? Thanks
Rooted stock with Matr1x. I recently switched back after months on CM7 doing the nightly flash routine. Don't miss it a single bit.

I don't even remember what the stock rom is like. I got cyanogen almost inmediately after getting my phone. Perhaps I'll try stock... what's the best way to go about doing this? Do i need to unroot my phone?

backup apps with titanium backup + factory reset (wipe data/cache/dalvik) + flash stock rom.
here you can find a great collection http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664
you DO loose root by flashing a stock rom, but you just have to re-flash superuser (and maybe cwm if needed). I find the stock gingerbread rom very fast and reliable.
Plus, you'll receive the ICS ota when it's ready
(but you'll need to flash the stock recovery)
Wait another 2-3 weeks and flash ice cream sandwich.

Flash deck 1.3. Really fast stable and great battery life. Its just like stock rom with a few extra tweaks. Has some of cm7 mods without the bloat. Has toggle switches on the drop down and some status bar tweaks but very stable and like I said its close to stock. Running it with matrix 9.0. Give it try.

Sorry man its in the nexus s 4g dev section but i cant find it on the GSM dev section. You can always try oxygen rom which is very similar to deck which I was running before I flashed deck. Has the same kind of tweaks more or less. Was also a really good rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285243
give carbon a shot. it's based on oxygen but gives better performance than any rom i've used since getting this phone

I'd suggest NSCollab and a trinity kernel. This combo worked well for me but I caught the flashing bug since getting this Nexus S and now I'm off to try Nexus MV.
you should try superosr rom (AOSP), very fast and include CM settings as well
I've been trying all NS Roms, and I'll prefer NSCollab because,
-Fast and stable (Near 5000 in quadrant)
-Never had a random reboot
-Extremely stable at 1,2GHz
-Probably the best CM7-based ROM
I don't give a opinion about which kernel u need to use, because they are all awesome, for the highest score in Quadrant, use the Trinity TUV kernel.
But I like the Netarchy or Matr1x kernel more because they are more stable in my eyes. I hope this will give you some more information
U can also wait for ICS (IceCream Sandwich), it will be awesome too.
I'd suggest stock rom + stock kernel.
lower quadrant score but higher performance
Oxygen 2.3 with Matr1x
4097 quadrant at 1,3Ghz.
*UPDATE*
Try the Franco.Kernel, tested it, very stable and high performance.
Greets.
Matr1x all the way bud lmao

[q] EaglesBlood ICS Kernel Questions

What is the best kernel to use for this phone, i want to know personaly before i try using a different kernel
I could be wrong, but isn't there only 2?
The one that comes with the rom and then Faux's?
Until EB updates with the data limit warning thing, I'd use Faux. Then whenever Faux gets better flash whatever new he cooks up.

[Q] Anyone using an older Kernel on ICS ROM and have stability ?

I keep flashing and flashing kernels.
Air
Matrix
Steve Garon
Trinity
Franco
etc
etc
Does anyone use an older dated kernel of any of these on any ICS ROMS and have such stability and good battery life that they are unwilling to upgrade to anything else ?
If so, what is your combination and setup ?
Thanks
Griff
airkernel 3.0 is what I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21935053&postcount=1 its been good to me

I'm quite happy with the stock CM9 kernel. What ROM are you using? Have you tried sticking with it's stock kernel? There's generally a reason the ROM dev chooses the kernel they do.
I have had good results with CM9's stock kernel and the Air kernel for ICS. I had instability with matr1x and trinity.
Im using franco's 1.1 and while it's very bare bones (no bln/bld/voodoo/oc etc) the kernel performs amazingly well and I couldn't be more pleased. I got tired of reboots with other kernels and haven't suffered even a single one yet.

Best Kernel with WeaponG2X ROM ?!

I can't seem to download Faux kernal nor Dragon, there files are missing? Is there any other kernels best stable with Weapon ROM?
Isn't Weapon a modified Stock ROM (2.3.3)?? You're only gonna be able to use Kernels for the stock ROMS. Faux is the only one I know of that has a kernel series for the Stock ROMS. Check out the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102720

I've always used faux with stock ROMs.
I may be wrong, but I thought Trinity was for CM7 ROMs. I used it with the CM7 Nightly Build 135.1, worked great. But as for stock, I've always used the 2 faux kernels I've uploaded.
This is the latest faux GB kernel:
P999-GB-Kernel-014b2-ext4.zip
Linky: http://www.freefilehosting.net/p999-gb-kernel-014b2-ext4
If you have any issues, which I haven't had any thus far and been on my current setup for almost two weeks, you can try this older version:
P999-GB-Kernel-013_r2-ext4.zip
Linky: http://www.freefilehosting.net/p999-gb-kernel-013r2-ext4
I don't know your experience level with this stuff. You don't have to re-install the ROM when changing kernels. Just make sure you wipe/format "cache" and "dalvik cache". Let it boot up and don't do anything for ten minutes. Than reboot again and your good to go. This is how I have done it and I've rarely encountered any issues.
Let me know if this helps and I'll be around doing homework for my IT class, so feel free to post back or PM me directly.
Thanks! I'm going to try it right now. Have you used any other stock ROMs? If you did, which one would you prefer?

I've used dang near every single ROM available for our G2x.
Stock? It's a coin toss between BuROM and kwes's Rooted Stock. Personally I use BuROM as it is based off of kwes's ROM but a coulpe tweaks. The 2 I can remember off hand is the VM Heap Size is increased to 64MB and the SD read ahead size increased from 128KB to 2048KB. I think BuROM is just a hair faster than kwes's ROM.
BuROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661610
kwes's Rooted Stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602798
Both are 2.3.4.
I did use weapon, and I liked it. Can't remember why, but I switched back to 2.3.4 because there was something missing from Weapon's 2.3.3
What baseband are you on?

Does it say March 2011 in it? We need to make sure you have the right baseband for the ROM your using or if we need to apply the new_baseband.zip patch to it.
Wifi not working? Hmmm...try GETRil from the playstore. But you need to make sure the baseband issue is correct first.
