I am convinced I have bricked my phone. My Windows 7 x64 machine can "talk" with the device- it refers to my bricked phone as QHUSB_DLOAD. Upon installing QPST, it acquires a driver named HS-USB Diagnostics 9008, introducing it to my machine as a COM port. My installation of Software Update Tool LR is able to give the approval that my device exists and is ready to receive files, but none of the nb0 files work.
Here are some details about my situation:
My Motorola Triumph is unable to reach download mode nor recovery mode in the traditional sense. The Software Update Tool claims it is in "Emergency Download Mode".
There is no screen activity on the phone. The only way I know my device is somewhat alive is by the notification Windows gives me when I insert new hardware.
If I could extract the contents of an NB0 file, I might be able to try something that may or may not work, but the only tool that exists on the planet was uploaded to MegaUpload, which was taken down by the Feds.
I don't have a stock Motorola Triumph NB0 file, but if I were to acquire one, I might be able to try something else that may or may not work.
I flashed the MMC block device under /dev/block/emmcblk0.
Any help is appreciated, as I am desperate for any help- feel free to ask questions. I won't get frustrated in answering them as I may have missed a few, important details.
Remember guys, if there is a will, there is a way. Help me out so if someone else ever comes across this problem, they will know EXACTLY what to do!
My rom is stock. Where is that file? Perhaps I could find and copy it using root explorer and send you a copy? Worth a shot.

Well, thanks for the input!
I eventually worked up the motive to send it in under warranty. However, I did end up calling Motorola as opposed to Virgin Mobile. The guys at Motorola said they would be happy to fix it as long as it wasn't physically damaged or submerged in liquids. Forget about paying Virgin Mobile for the phone insurance- Motorola wants to keep their customers happy.

hopefully this will help out some people and the developers to make, fix, restore a not so popular phone. I did a total firmware dump and have uploaded to my 4shared folder. If anyone is interested or can tell me how to upload it here for developing i will be more than happy to share with those in need. I also have a spare phone that i would be willing to test anything made from the firmware dump i created.

Some time after rooting my Optimus Zone 3 VS425PP, I got locked into a boot loop. There are no custom ROM's, neither recovery nor OS. It's not bricked. Yet, anyway. The loading screen functions, then a little window that says "OPTIMIZING APPS 1 OF 5, PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE BATTERY..." appears. I've seen this before, but now, upon reaching "APP 5 OF 5," it reboots and repeats. I've tried several factory resets via the LG RECOVERY (MODIFIED,) as well as safe mode to no avail. Anyone? Anything? Help? The only recourse I can think of would be to re-flash the stock ROM, which I cannot find. Anywhere. Thanks, guys.
i tried contacting judthro for the same file; no luck

Unfortunately, I don't think this file is actually out there. I have REALLY been looking, even contacted the LG Development team. The LG Support Tool, etc. are not going to help you yet as they do not have the firmware on their servers yet. That's why the LG Support Tool will freeze when trying to do an Update Recovery on this phone. -- And I've tried them all: LG Mobile Support Tool, LG PC Suite, Verizon VS425PP Update Tool (from the mounted drive on the phone), LG Flash Tool 2014 to force different KDZ files. All provide nothing. All dead ends. The Optimus won't grab a COM unless it is the right signed firmware for the phone. You'll just sit there in Download Mode or in Debug mode forever with no result. We have to wait for the first update from LG from version VS425PP1 to whatever comes next so they have something to stick on their server. But...if you find something before then, please let me know! The update will eventually be released to the public. It'll probably just take a year or so.
Good thing is Wal-Mart sells these for under $12 (yes, that's right). I picked up seven of these quad-core bad boys at that deal. Just bugs the hell out of me I can't fix the one I over rooted.
this *might* be promising...

well i'll be. this may be a promising link:
google "4share lgvs425pp" and scroll down to the 4shared link. There is a 999MB RAR file claiming to be the VS425PP ROM dump. I'm downloading it now...checking it out.

hopefully the op will chime in for insight. The 999MB isn't much good. It appears to be a RAR dump of all the partitions, perhaps made from a lglaf.py script while in download. Nevertheless, i havent found any way yet to push the firmware dump onto the phone.
I've had no luck, either.

Meanwhile, as my LG cycles endlessly through my really cool "Jolly Roger" boot animation, I stumbled across a Kyocera Hydro Wave at Walmart for $20. I snapped it up to replace the LG Optimus Zone 3. I had big plans to root it, too., but I should've researched it first. The specs are great... but one check on Cyanogen's website probably would've saved me some trouble. Not one Kyocera device is listed there. XDA thread also throws red flags-no one can get root to stick. Well, I at least learned a lesson. Next time, I plan to purposefully buy a phone that can be rooted, has been rooted, has instructions online to do so, AND has at least one custom ROM available! No wonder this thing was $20! Keep us all posted if you stumble across a bootloop fix of some kind, and I'll do the same.
here is stock recovery for this device https://www.dropbox.com/home/Apps/Flashify/VS425PP/recovery

Either I am unable to open that link from an Android device OR the link given is to an unshared folder? It just asks me to log in and then says 'that folder does not exist in your DropBox...' PLEASE check out the SHARE link from within your DropBox and maybe share a new folder (and drop the stock ROM in there, along with what you might've used to flash it maybe?) We'd be very grateful!

To all who have a bricked, phone this phone has an update. Download the LG software assistant and put assistant in repair mode then boot phone normally and wait a bit. Run the repair assistant and let it run. Hopefully if everything runs well as it did me. Mine is restored and running.
Just ordered one. Is there root for this phone? Unlocked bootloader or forgetaboutit?
I rooted this phone and then tried to de-bloat, but I must have deleted too much. Now when I boot all I get is "Security Error - Authentication Fail #9"
I can get to Download mode, but none of the recovery programs recognize the phone. I installed the drivers, but still nothing. Is there anything I can do?

was your phone in a "security error" loop? for some reason the software assistant won't recognize my phone. it'll identify a plugged in phone when I connect it in download mode, but the device model never shows up

this one is troubling. hmm you got the stock rom from lg? if so then try downloading the drivers from verizon.
Any updates on recoveries? I hate being scared of tweaking due to not having a backup .-. Anyone find something? Plz lemme know, thx! Btw kingo root 4.5 seems to have root for this phone but super sume seems to brick it. Just a heads up eace:
I'm new to the XDA Forums and even forums in general so if I speak out of place or anything like that I apologize ahead of time. So anyway, where do I start? I'll try to give you the short version. So I bought an LG Stylo 2(model: LG K540) through Cricket the day they came out. It was $170 phone. On the second day of using my new phone I got the bright idea that I'd try and root it BY MYSELF. I knew better but for some reason I had this false burst of confidence & thought I had everything under control. Well, thanks to Kingroot that burst of confidence didn't last long and there I was with a 2 day old phone BRICKED. Reason I never posted on the forums is because I've got a buddy who , in my eyes, knows everything there is to know about Android and thats who I'd normally go to when I wanted to root a phone so he's who I immediately turned to but even he couldn't figure it out. He couldn't help me unless we had the stock firmware or someone with the exact same phone and according to him we could some how use a backup of that phone to fix mine. Cricket just wanted to sell me another phone even though I was standing there with a 2 day old phone and LG just wants me to send the phone in to them, which I have no desire to do. I've searched all over the internet trying to locate the firmware because even I can fix the phone if I had that but nothing. Had hoped by now LG would have released the firmware but at this point who knows when that'll happen. I'd even pay for it at this point. Anyway, just thought I'd give the forum a shot on the off chance someone might be able to help me or point me in the right direction. Oh and if you were wondering what the phone does now, when I turn it on the LG logo appears like it should but then right as it appears you see a message in red lettering that says: BOOT VERIFICATION FAIL!!- CAUSE: MISMATCH_SIG_LEN And it just loops this over & over until you pull the battery out. Please someone help me!

Source code to rom¿?
I ran into basically the same situation as you. I'm currently downloading Android open source project on to a fresh install Ubuntu 16.04. I am currently in the middle of running sync.
I'm curious if there is anybody out there who would be willing to give a few pointers, on compiling the ROM from LG open source code. They told me I had to use it in the readme.txt.
Im a noob with fair knowledge of modding and stylo not stylo 2. There's no way to say for sure if this will work but on lg mm on h631 u need to unlock dev option in settings 1st. Make sure to check off oem unlock and usb debugging. Connect to pc and you will get a popup or 2, one will ask to allow pc to connect to phone, the second is to allow usb debugging. After you allow both, open cmd in your adb fastboot folder. Type " adb reboot bootloader." should reboot the phone to bootloader/fastboot mode. Then you type " fastboot oem unlock." you will see sending.. Once sending is done type " fastboot reboot." when the phone restart you should see bootloader unlocked on splash screen. Then i rooted with kingroot. Then use rashr to flash twrp. Then used twrp to flash supersu to get rid of kingroot.. My h631 now in business and i just started working on a port for lg ux 5.0. This is the guild i use for a better idea http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-stylo/how-to/guide-lg-g-stylo-how-to-root-t-mobile-6-t3333916. You might need lgflashtool and kdz to unbrick..
NO NEED to beg.
I don't know very much but I know $$$ talks and since no one save the few who suggested contacting lg wants to help, Ill try. At the moment I am efforting a solution via the Chinese. I expect to have a working copy in the next 48hrs. when I do, we can arrange for you to get access to the mega.nz cloud and get urs.

BIN File
Hello, I have a Stylo 2 K540 from cricket, it is having issues with the Wi-Fi, it will not connect to either Wi-Fi or bluetooth, MAC address was set at 02:00:00:00:00 or something like that, I opened the phone and it has humidity sensor active, cleaned the affected area but it seems like it was useless, eventhough I was pretty sure that was not the main problem. I looked for some troubleshooting options and found non of use, firmware is sold for $30 online so it is not an option since I am not certain loading firmware will be of any help. I tried repairing MAC address via Octoplus using other addresses but was useless as well.
I have little to no experience with software on phones, but I like to read and learn. I decided to connect the phone to the computer and "Read full flash" on Octopus, I have created the Bin file, I have a perfectly working phone as well, I was wondering if there is any way to get the KDZ file from the Bin file doing some sort of conversion, or if I could do some sort of fix or workaround with this bin file, I can share it if anybody needs it or if it can be of any use to get the firmware

Hello! So I am new to all this havent done anything similar in over 7 years. Things are much more complicated now. Unfortunately during my trials I hard bricked my s4 I545PPVRUAOH7. I bought this phone this year so it never had jellybean. Going thru hardbrick tutorials I understand I need a scatter.txt. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to make this file from a number of stock i545 roms. MTK android tools simply wont read the md5 file and I dont understand at all. Needless to say now that I am aware of this I will create the scatter.txt whenever possible in the future. I have the correct VCOM drivers installed. I have been stuck for days and would really appreciate a helpful push in the right direction to get MTK android tools 2.5.3 to work... Or if someone could just send me a scatter.txt file from this phones original firmware I would owe you forever. Also am I able to just flash a different but compatible scatter with SP Flashtools? There is a huge data base of scatters but remain cautious in testing anything without confirmation, as there is nothing for my specific phone.
Thank you for your time.

Just thought I would introduce myself and see how everyone is doing.
Well I've gotten as far as getting qualcomm tools to recognize the device but I'm a little afraid to push anything since as far as I can tell we don't have a firehose or rawprogram0xml for our devices! (mine is sprint 996)
I don't actually use this phone for anything but a multimedia device so if someone had any ideas is be willing to try them.
Also I was wondering, I only seem to be able to access downloads mode via by vol up and insert cable... I can't get any other mode to work...
So many toolsets that just arent there... Seems we are so close to being able to fix this but missing like one or two files... So far the closest I can get is with QFIL I have the zv8 tot, rawprogram0.xml and the 8994 programner. All its asking for is a patch0.xml now... Ive no clue how to make that one .
I just leave it here forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f672/worlds-first-lg-ls996-dead-boot-repair-done-2087401/

Thanks for the link and I had read it... But I just can't see that being the only way... I can see my phone and manipulate that data via tools like qfil and such.... There has to be a method of rewriting the bootloader to enable it to start again. I would even be a tester for anyone.
Well, it seems my daughter has been the unfortunate one of many that has been hit by her Pixel 3 being "bricked" for no apparent reason.
After a full afternoon of research, I now understand the state it's in and that it's sitting in EDL and won't cycle out of it. I'm a Linux guy, and can plainly see that lsusb is reporting it being 05c6:9008 in "QDL" mode. So I've got the QDL tool for Linux, I understand fastboot and adb, etc. HOWEVER, I'm rather foggy about how to acquire, or perhaps create, a "blankflash" for the Pixel 3. (Or maybe I'm just tired...) In any case, is there anyone here that might point me in the right direction of how to get, or even create, a blankflash for this phone?
So ANY pointers in the right direction on a blankflash for the Pixel 3 would be appreciated. Thanks all!

I believe this is the best thread for anyone with this issue to be reading. The issue is discussed and unfortunately, there is no resolution.
That said, I've never heard of a 'blank flash'. But, what we do know is that a device that is stuck in edl mode means u can't get to the normal recovery utilities like fastboot or adb. And because google won't release the 'programmer firehose' so that qfil can access the device in edl mode, there's really no way to 'flash' anything, blank or otherwise.
I wish I was wrong, but am quite sure this is the unfortunate situation, unless google releases the firehose.
(When u say 'QDL tool for linux', do u mean the bkerler edl python utilities? Unfortunately, they too will of course require the programmers firehose. If that's available somewhere, would luv to know about it).
cheers

Hey, thanks for the input as well as the move of my post to a more appropriate forum. I felt like I had hit the end of the road, but was hopeful maybe there was an off-road path
Here are a couple sources for my references...
I found this XDA post mentioning the EDL and QDL:
[GUIDE] unbrick and flash Official ROM in EDL on linux
I'm running Kubuntu 20.04, and you can install QDL using snap: https://snapcraft.io/qdl
The "blank flash" reference came from this guide for a Moto G7:
Hard Bricked My Moto G7 Plus after Downgrade: How to Fix
LOL, ironically the blankflash.zip is hosted here on XDA somewhere.
I'm in the process of evaluating "new to her" phones for her to replace this Pixel 3... but I'm still hoping to resurrect this thing, since the knowledge would be invaluable.

I certainly understand the desire to fix the device, I mean, there's nothing wrong with them, they work fine, normally.
But, even the first link you mention has the following pre-reqs: and it's the 3rd item listed that no one has (afaik). The patch xml isn't needed, the rawprogram xml can be created / modified from another source, but not the firehose file. It's specific to the device, and google, as said, won't release it. So just to clarify, I've used edl mode on numerous LG devices (as their firehose file is available), I've used both qfil and bkerler edl utilities (python based), and neither of them can access a device without the firehose file, it's just not possible.
Truly wish that if anyone has that file, pls let us know, because without it, these devices are bricks.
patch0.xml
rawprogram_unparse0.xml,
prog_firehose_ddr.elf (could have also a .mbn file extension, it's the same)

So just to clarify, I've used edl mode on numerous LG devices (as their firehose file is available), I've used both qfil and bkerler edl utilities (python based), and neither of them can access a device without the firehose file, it's just not possible.
Truly wish that if anyone has that file, pls let us know, because without it, these devices are bricks.
patch0.xml
rawprogram_unparse0.xml,
prog_firehose_ddr.elf (could have also a .mbn file extension, it's the same)

Yeah, I was just giving reference to what lead me to the awareness of the QDL and the fact that it's possible to flash these Qualcomm devices. I could see that I was missing a piece there, and now that you've pointed me in the direction of the other thread I see things a bit more clearly after a sleep.
All good info, and perhaps we'll get the needed piece at some point! Too bad we can't construct that file from a dump or something.
