So It works, YEEEAA!!
ON EOS Nightly 107
HDMI out works, it out puts everything that's on my xoom fine.. I had some movies on there and went to play it on my TV, while it plays fine on the XOOM its laggy on the TV, more like, every 2-3 seconds a hesitation.
Is there a fix? Or can we just not play long videos ??
I was using MX player FWIW
THANKS
bump
When I used HDMI using nightly 107, everything worked fine. Nothing close to every 2-3 minutes.
2-3 seconds.. not minutes, lol
IN anycase, I'm on the stable 2.0 EOS, will try again and see what happens?
how long was the video you played?
Short videos usually do better
Was about a twenty minute short-film
Maybe your HDMI cable isn't working properly.
Or the size of the cable is too long and takes a little time to the image/sound appears on TV.
I think it could be that.
Sorry my bad english, i'm from Brazil.

I went out and bought a micro HDMI to HDMI cable at frys the other day. It shows the picture and all but the xoom lags like none other when I put it in. Even a short swipe of the screen makes it pop up the add new widgets, wallpapers and so on. I was wondering what could be the problem with it? Its a non-rooted wifi only xoom.

i have similar problem with my HDMI cable. When ever I connect the xoom reboot it self work for few second then stop. After unplug and replug againsame cycle reboot.
Though this was working fine before! !!!!!
Mine works great with my LG set. The only thing when I plug it in the black bar at the bottom doubles in size on the xoom and doesn't reset after I unplug it. I have to reboot anyone have a fix?

I picked up a the cord and it worked great.
The only issue I found was neither tv I tried it on could adjust overscan. On one tv the size adjustments were greyed out? and the other didn't respond to changes to picture size.
I will test this when I get my cable this week, should have by Tuesday.

Does your TV have some sort of smoothing like running at 120Hz or 240 in some cases? If there's a "game" mode then usually that runs at 60Hz without a delay because it doesn't have to interpolate in-between frames.

Confirmed this works just change your AV setting on your tv and find the one that works best.

Glad that helped.
Well I tried again today and I found the reboot problem is ONLY with the Youtube, but not with any other applications ... can somebody confirm if they has issues watching Youtube through HDMI !
I was quite excited to get Netflix up and running finally.
Works great on the phone, but when outputting HDMI to the TV I get occasionally blackouts that last a couple seconds on the TV only and occur without any apparent rhythm.
This also happens with video that I have recorded.
I've noticed this with Eagleblood 1.03 as well as CM7 #16 (both stock & OC kernel)
The cables I have are good and have been working fine on the stock ROM.
Anyone else experience this before?
The stability of this phone across all ROMs as well as stock has been questionable. Perhaps this unit is defunct.
Anyhow I hope to iron out these issues so that this devices greatness can shine!

Yep I noticed this as well on CM7 when playing video from the Video Player app or from YouTube. I tried it on my Samsung LED HDTV. It seemed to happen regularly every 30 seconds where the TV would go black for a second while the video continued to play on the phone. However, it ran fine on Eagleblood and stock.
Which Eagleblood did you have success with? 1.02 or 1.03?
Ive had this happen on eagles blood 1.0.3 and I believe gingerbread leak.
its only when watching video via HDMI out. didn't seem to happen when I played a game Via HDMI
I dont remember, i think 1.0.3 worked for me. I'm back to stock now until CM7 is done.
I had this issue, and actually never tried it stock. But I know on stock and Ultimage g2x that you can change the output level (720 - 960) since not all plasmas, lcd's, dlp's cant reproduce 1080p or even i. So setting the level down to a lower level should change that glitch, but its not an option in CM7. I know its an option in Ultimage G2, not sure about stock or EB though.
*Sorry for semi-grave-digging, just thought I would say my 10 cents
Seem to be having HDMI out problems, I bought this phone so I can watch my movies out to a big screen, I tried it on two different TVs. At first it works, and then when I try stuff or like try to play angry birds it start flickering going back and forth from snow back to the phone, sometimes just stops working all together. Also it looks like crap, like trying to use the web or what not, especially text.
when I try to watch 720p movies i downloaded in like mkv, they play so smooth and look great on the phone, but out to the TV, most times the phone will slow completely down, and get really choppy and laggy, if you try to get the menu back or play buttons. if it does play it doesn't look like a 720p should, comparing on playing the file on my computer, it looks pixelated and doesn't play that smooth, kinda gives you motion sickness sometimes.
Does anyone else have these problems, is this a defective phone that I should return? can anyone confirm.
also just curious, I seen other people say they played the trailers that came on their phones and it looked great. Mine didn't come with any trailers on it.
Well mine came with trailers, though I didn't try looking at them on the big screen...I did, however, look at several high resolution pictures and a 1080p video that looked great on the PHONE'S display and it's like the output is the same resolution as the phone's display (800x480) and it's just stretched to fit the screen...makes it look I'm watching an old DVD...
Because angry bird are only made for phones not a 720p resolution, lol angry bird on TV haha buy Xbox or ps2 much better ;p

The phone can not handle playback on a big screen unfortunately. The chopiness is purely due to processor lag. The hdmi out is more for presentations, not super useful
Angry Birds plays fine on my TV. As a matter of fact my nephew was playing it last night. It looks amazing on my TV. Try using an expensive HDMI cable, the cheap ones will not work. I had 2 HDMI cables and I first used the one that was like $20 and had this issue so i switched that out for the $50 cable and bam no problems. It really depends on the cable. Because of the info that's being sent thru the cable. Along with movies, I have a music video on my phone in .mp4 format in 1080p that plays perfectly, me and my friend were watching it like 20 times the other day.
Why can't i watch media hub on my tv it says it can't play on my tv when the app is running

Because the movies are copy protected. It a feature of the Media Hub. Samsung probably doesnt want people to pirate the movies/tv shows they sell on there.

Try a different player like rockplayer or I think vlc is out now too... Stock video player sucks. Also try removing stage-fright enable player = false.... See if that helps, its a line in the build.prop.
Is anyone having a problem with the hdmi signal cutting out on their g2x? i plug it in and i was watching a netflix movie, it would go black for about 2 seconds and then show again. Thought it might be a netflix problem till i tried youtube and also playing a movie off of my sdcard. The picture looks great and it seems to be working perfect accept for the screen going black. Its pluged into a50 inch plasma 1080p tv and im using eaglebloods gingerbread rom which doesnt have hmdi options in the settings is this an issue with that rom?
same.
I have the problem, its so annoying, only happens when mirroring hd video. Maybe its the cheap ebay cable im using? or the rom?
if you guys are using CM7 its a common issue since CM doesnt support HDMI output. thats why there isnt a setting of it, of course it still works with games and everything but the movie playing is what it has a problem with. hope this helps
I got a HTC Sensation 4G from T-Mobile a couple of days back, its a great phone but i discovered something very annoying today. I transferred a few divx/xvid videos to the phone, the videos appear in the gallery and i can play them but after about 1min 30 sec the sounds disappears! This happens with every video i have tried so far. I tried using mobo player but still the same problem. If i seek forward the sound comes back only to disappear in a min or so.
I dont know if this handset specific or something else
Several other threads on this issue here, last time I checked people were saying that Dice Player worked fine (its the best player for the Sensation anyways, so well worth buying).
