[Q] Waterproof case for bikes? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Does anyone know a waterproof case that can not only provide access to headphone jack but to usb port as well?
I'm looking for something that I can put on handle bar on my bicycle and use it as gps.

Currently out of stock.

Thanks.
That's a start. Do you know if that case allows use wired headphones and usb cable for charging?

Yes it does but I think that its easier to have Bluetooth headphones while using it in the holder.

True, but I doubt any BT headphones would last 8-10 hours of music

If a waterproof case exposes either the headphone or USB connectors it's not waterproof. Those are the first thing waterproof case makers try to isolate.

Not necesarry. there are cases for swimmers that have molded wires into the case to wich yu connect your headphones to

Car mount for Sensation

I found a pretty cool car mount for the Sensation for use with the TMoUS Body Glove case. What is nice about it is the sticky pad holder is it eliminates the need to clamp the device. I also drilled a hole in the mount so I could keep the belt clip stud installed. Found the holder at WalMart but online it is a few bucks cheaper. It is the Scosche model IUHD.
A little hot glue on the back holds the charge cord to plug it in easily. My next task is to route the cord so it is mostly hidden.
Nice! Lookin cool, like the creativity! Im getting my HTC Car Dock soon from Expansys, might do some pics when I install it in my car.
Went to Verizon and bought the car dock for the HTC Thunderbolt, then installed the Car Home App from my G2. So far, been working okay and goes directly to car mode. Only problem so far is that the volume rocker is on that side and turning the volume down when you push it to hard to the USB connection

Does the sensation fit snugly in it? I thought the Thunderbolt was not the same size. The Thunderbolt one is 1/3 the price of the Sensation dock. I wouldn't mind cutting out a small piece to get access to the volume rocker.
The Sensation did fit snugly on it. What's good is that it goes to the charge/car mode once you plug the phone to the cradle and back to the main screen when I turn off my bluetooth enabled radio

I was gonna buy the thunderbolt car mount aswell but didn't know if it would fit.. does the dock allow the phone to be mounted with a case on it?!

I don't think the phone with any type of case would fit as the well on the cradle fits the phone perfectly.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Hm, doesn't seem like it's easy to look at where it's at. The mount itself looks pretty nice though, not much to complain about with it. Is it pretty solid build quality? I've seen some that look good, but seem like they'll fall apart if you hit a speed bump.
Completely unrelated: How's the Volt treating you so far?
The volt? My friend has the thunderbolt and battery life is horrible. The sensation has a much better battery life so far

I think maybe he meant the Chevy Volt (based from the pic uploaded) Hence unrelated..

So you didn't need to modify the dock at all? And how snug is snug? Do you have to force it in?
I'm thinking about stopping by Verizon to get a dock tonight and just want to be sure. I've measured the Droid X and Atrix docks as well using online specs, but the Thunderbolt seems to be the nearest fit. (if anyone cares - the DX is the same size but the usb is backward and slightly off from the Sensation's location)
I also have a HTC Thunderbolt with a car dock. I have not tried my sensation in it yet as I have only had it two days. I can tell you the car dock mount from Verizon is good and I use mine everyday.
So if my Sensation works in the same mount I will be happy.
I just picked up the thunderbolt dock and it fits very well. You have to push just a wee bit to get the micro USB to connect, but not enough to do any damage.

It is snug, I only placed a piece of plastic in the back to keep the phone straight as the sensation is slimmer than the thunderbolt. It keeps it from rocking back and forth

Yeah I'm going to do the same.
I was also thinking about sanding down the inner sides of the dock just a tiny tad to get an easier slide for the microusb.
can you guys post a pic please. I would like to see what Snug means. and are you getting the dock from the Verizon Store ? or a third party retailer ?
thank you

Yes. The mount can be rotated 360 degrees to sit at whatever angle you would like. There are small 'pegs/feet' that hold the device in the mount which can also be slid around. You have easy access to all buttons and usb port when mounted.
The suction cup on the mount is awesome too. I've left it mounted on my windshield for days before it looses suction and needs to be re-mounted.
Here it is: http://www.arkon.com/slimgrip/G2_car_mount.html
I'm pretty happy with the Bracketron Grip-It vent mount, although that Tetrax XWAY looks pretty darned nifty!

Thank you all for your recommendations. Finally, I have chosen the Sony Ericsson Car Kit CK100. I tried it and is very hardy and well built:

Are you able to get the usb to fit with the SE car holder? My main problem is that I can't find a holder that will have the usb exposed so that I can charge it while driving

After nearly a year on the market, why is there not a single proper car mount for this phone? Sure, there are lots of generic clips the will work, but why nothing with a built-in charger and/or audio jack? The droids get all the nice toys.

I'll 3rd the Arkon. It is adjustable to fit almost any phone. I also use their bike mount which works perfectly.

I purchased a bracketron that connects to the ac vent. I first I never liked the idea. But traveling with GPS and other things running it would get hot with a high amp charger. Being on the vent certainly solved that problem and charged a lot quicker since it wasn't so hot.
I realize that Google and Amazon exist. I was looking for recommendations from other Epic owners on here.

I recommend the stock mount for the Epic 4G. It does get hot sometimes, but it has an 2.5mm socket for audio that you can run into the aux input on your car stereo and it activates car mode. I've had it for 18+ months now and haven't had any trouble with it and would be upset if it broke.
I can't remember where I got it (not Samsung), but it's probably not too hard to find.

Interesting concept. Does it move much?
No surprisingly little. I changed it a little so it squeezes the phone instead of sitting in the holder and I used small vacuum hose to protect the spots that touch the phone. Works well.
Its all on how you make it. There is no play in mine at all. I made mine so you have to slip it up under the top arms, and then rest the it on the bottom arms. then the reverse to get it out... Its very secure and never had to worry about it falling. I drive in Cleveland, so thats saying something.
. I took a fine file and filed and sharp edges made by the pliers. Then after a couple of coats with spray paint, its like I bought it from somewhere. I use no buffers and have marks on my case from my holder.
I've made a few (about 10 or so for a different phones) the key is just to take your time and make every bend as perfect as you can.
I might have to look into this. I have been slightly concerned about the fact mine is in a small case. I'm afraid the official one won't fit too well. I also wasn't actually impressed by the automatic car mode.
XxLostSoulxX, the Arkon ones look pretty nifty. Which one did you get? They have so many!

I have the stock mount for the Epic and love it. It does get kind of hot at times. Especially when sitting in the direct sun light but it's a perfect and snug fit:

I can't remember how much I paid for it, but I searched around and got it for pretty cheap.
I bought a universal vent mount at TJ Maxx for 8 bucks. Works great and the best part is it can rotate to either portrait or landscape.

Adjusting pins in the headphone jack?

I've been having some problems lately where the music stops or doesnt play in one side or the other.
Normally I attribute that to bad headphones, but Ive been able to pin it down to the pins inside the jack because if the headphones are no good, the app should still play the audio. I have it set to stop on headphone disconnect so that answers that.
Plus when looking in there, the pins aren't extruded as much as I recall normal for headphone jacks.
I opened it up to take a look as I've done this with other devices. the pins usually have exposure on the outside of the jack you can just push in with a sewing needle or some such and thats it.
This one seems to have it encased in a plastic shell.
Anyone have any recommendations or ideas to try?
It would be hard to use the needle idea and get a good angle for the deeper ones, and with no real light to work with.
Dumb question but have you tried a different set of headphones or try the ones you got in another device.

+1, first rule of diagnostics, take something know working and try it. Just because the pin doesn't look like its in the same it was before, doesn't mean anything. It could be bent and you could be right, or you could be wrong, but until you do as said, try a know working pair of headphones on it or try the headphones on something else, you're just guessing and already took your phone apart for possibly nothing.
If you do determine it's the jack, they sell the whole assembly on Ebay for about $20.

Yes, headphones work elsewhere, others exhibit similar behavior.
Although i went crazy plugging it in and out, trying to clean the contacts and it has cut back alot on the disconnecting/stopping.
My issue is my case doesnt accommodate the headphones 100%, so it puts a little pressure on it, which I think is pushing some contacts in a bit more. I've had this happen before on pda's.
Bluetooth headphones then?

I think your best bet would be something like this, http://shop.mobileweb.ebay.com/sear...sort=BestMatch&mfs=GOCLK&acimp=0&isNewKw=true
Like you said the design of these ports are encased in plastic which would make it a lot harder to adjust the pins. That flex seems cheap enough to try?
I'm assuming you've taken the case off the phone and tried?? The reason I ask is that my fiance thought she had a bad audio port. Her music would also only play on one side of the headphones. She also has a case on her phone. I looked at the phone and it was pretty clear that the male end of the headphone jack was larger than the hole in the case. It wasn't seating properly. So I took off the case and plugged in the headphones. They worked perfectly. Then I went to the garage and got my drill and a drill bit slightly larger than the male end of the plugs. Drilled out the case to the correct size and put the case back on her phone. Problem solved.
