Hello all
I'm having some internet issues right now. I can connect internet pretty well on wi-fi but when using network I cant open any web pages no matter what browser I'm using but I can use other internet related programs (Facebook, gmail , market etc.). This is the second time this problem occurs. First time I was using stock rom then I changed to virtuous unity and the problem was solved but now it started again. Anyone experienced this before? Or what can I do to solve this?
Could be kernel related
Swyped from HTC Desire S using XDA Premium
If its kernel related what can i do about it?

You should always try to provide as much information and details as possible, for example....
All of this can be got from Settings->About Phone-> software
What ROM?,
What RADIO (baseband)?
What Kernel?
Can be got by rebooting to recovery
what HBOOT?
Sorry for missing details.
Virtuous Unity v.1.31.0
20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M
Kernel unavailable
HBOOT: HBOOT 6.98.1002
Radio from bootloader. 3805.06.02.03_M
I think these are enough, I'll try to flash new kernel but before that i want to ask that if i'll lose anything? Or what will change?

Having the same experienced with you. Got problem with MMS too. Just now, I've called my network provider, it said that I need to tick "Data enabled" first if I want to use internet connection. If untick it, we cannot use the internet connection. Don't know whether working for you or not, but seriously working for me.

I don't use that ROM myself, but, I'm aware that they've released a later version about a week ago, so I'd be tempted to perform a full factory reset and then any additional wipe instructions that come with ROM installation which you'll usually find in post #1 and then upgrade to that.
I'd then apply which ever kernel that they recommend in the ROM thread (or you may find the new version comes with the new kernel). If you then continue to get issues try posting in the ROM thread as well as updating this thread as this may bring you more results....

It might not be related with rom because same issue happened before when i was using non-rooted stock rom. Anyway i going to apply new update with full wipe. I hope it wont occur again.
After installing MIUI I can`t enable data transfer (2g/3g internet). Data transfer is turning on, but there is no 2g/3g logo and internet. This happens after installing all MIUI stock and custom roms. APN settings is correct, before it was ok. I`m installing via Clockwork recovery v5. Device is G2x (P999)
What should I do? How to enable it?
I believe for the g2x you should see an H next to the bars, that is if you are in a good service area.
Otherwise I think it also shows G, and E.
If it doesn't have anything at all, then I'm not sure.
Does the internet work when you go inti the browser?

I had this problem before, go to ur APNs and go to authentication and make the authentication "None" instead of "Not set". That will enable ur data

Hey go to SETTINGS->MOBILE NETWORKS->ACCESS POINT NAMES-> in here select option button in your android phone, in the menu select NEW APN, you will get the APN settings as seen in this. In the link ACCESS NUMBER = SERVER in mobile.
As I am not allowed to post link for first ten TIMES! will guide you through
google search -> "vodafone apn address" the third result will be GPRS APN Settings with Username and Password - Modem Unlock. Click it and follow the method above mentioned.
Question was asked and answered.

Hey everyone,
I have tried several different custom ROMs on my Nexus S, but I can never seem to get my data working with any of them. I can always send messages and make calls, but I can't do anything that involves data. Wi-fi usually works fine, but for some reason data just doesn't want to work.
I am in Canada, and I am on the Rogers network. Could this have something to do with it? I can't imagine why it would, but maybe these ROMs are all designed for American networks? I really like some of the custom ROMs out there, but it sucks because I can't take advantage of them!
I'm currently running a genuine updated version of ICS (4.0.4) that I found on the forum, and it works great.
Any help would be appreciated!
Also, when Google releases 4.1 for the Nexus S, will there be a genuine update available for download on XDA?
Thanks
Go to settings>more>mobile> networks>access point names and delete anything there, then type in your carrier's specific settings. Google 'Roger's apn settings' and you fill it in.

What numbers? I don't use rogers network, so I am obviously unfamiliar with your carrier settings, they do change over time. So how did you solve the problem? By flashing a different radio?

It is working, but only on the genuine ICS build that I'm running...still can't get it to work on any custom ROMs
any other suggestions??

Did you backup the genuine ICS (nandroid)? If so, the stock settings would be backed up including the apn settings. That's why it's working. try copying those settings or go to a Rogers store (not the one you bought the phone from if you still want the warranty) ask the guys there to set it up BECAUSE CALL AND SMS WORKS. THE ONLY REASON INTERNET DOESN'T WORK WHILE CALLS DO IS THE APN SETTINGS. IF CALLS DONT WORK, flash a new radio.

okay I will definitely try this. Is there any ways to keep all of my apps and contacts when flashing a custom ROM, or do I pretty much have to start from scratch? I know when I applied the actual ICS update I kept everything, but not when I flashed a custom ROM overtop

Titanium backup keeps all your apps and data, Google syncs all your contacts.

okay so it was the APN settings! turn out when I flash a new custom ROM, the default APN settings are set to the chatr network instead of Rogers. Thanks alot Billchen0014!
I have been unable to send or receive MMS messages to/from anyone. Outgoing messages just get stuck at "sending" and I've had multiple people try to send me an MMS. I believe my APN settings are correct based on other threads here. Has anyone else seen/dealt with/have a solution for this bug?
I'm currently running CM10.1 April 8 Nightly off of a clean complete wipe flash, but I believe the problem has occurred with prior versions as well.

I saw some commits related to unicode encoding with the MMS app. It's possible (Disclaimer: I am not a dev, these are just theories) that these have something to do with the MMS issue. You could extract the MMS.apk from a prior build (where your MMS was still functional) and push it to /system/apps, rename your current MMS.apk to MMS.bak (just in case), set permissions to R-W, R, R, then reboot. If that works then we know there's an issue with the CM commits to the MMS.apk.
Had the same problem this morning. Turns out I had mobile data turned off.

What that means is that your APN's might not be configured properly. Compare them to the ones listed here. If that doesn't fix the MMS issue then we'll have to investigate further.

I've put in a trouble call with AT&T hopefully they find something....
So according to AT&T there are no network problems but my phone is not responding to push notifications from them. They want me to bring it into a "core" store to have it checked out (not going to happen on behalf of the rooting/custom ROM). I'm wondering if my Android ID#/device hostname may have changed when I did a full wipe? Although I'm not even sure that would have any effect on my problem. I'm just tossing out ideas.

If I were you I'd just make a nandroid backup of my current setup, transfer that (and any other important data) to either my external or PC, ODIN back to stock and head over to an AT&T store. Just my two cents. You can always re-root and flash a custom ROM again. If you'd corrupted something through flashing (not saying you did, just a thought) getting AT&T to straighten it out and then going custom from there might be your best option.

Sinnce AT&T uses the IMEI number as the ID for the device, that wouldn't be the issue you aren't receiving push messages. I agree with mrfeuss, back up the phone, flash the stock rom, and go have AT&T fix it on their end. Then you can re-root and install your custom ROM again. Better to have them look at it than live without MMS.

Just used Odin to flash back to stock. After the Odin reboot how long should it take for the phone to start up? I've been sitting on the ATT logo screen for a few minutes now.... please don't tell me I bricked....
Never mind, figured out my own mistake..... Always factory reset/clear data before flashing!
I have a GS2 running Cyanogemod 10.1.2 (Android 4.2.2) on AT&T. The main issue I have is that of the service for calling/texting being extremely sporadic (as in, most of the time, it either doesn't have service at all or says it has service, but is unable to do anything). I gets texts hours after the person sent them, and I miss almost all calls.
It's not just an issue of spotty service or a messed up SIM card, since I can put the card into my other phone and is works perfectly. It's also probably not a radio issue, since WiFi is unaffected and I've reflashed a few different radios a few different times.
I've also tried just restoring an old backup or two, reinstalling an older version of Cyanogemod, and messing with the APN's (which, as far as I've been able to find online, are at the correct settings).
Rebooting and turning off WiFi sometimes seem to help, but I haven't found any consistent pattern with that.
Does anybody know what's going on?
Please tell me you're using the ucmc1 radio? If not, flash it and do some reading first next time.

Hi - FWIW I had this problem for a while - wasnt using that ROM but i had to try a few different radios until i found one that worked. I would suggest trial and error. I would tell you which one Ended up working but my screen is broken... i do remember UCMC1 worked for me, but i think another one gave me more bars at my house, so i stuck with that.

Well, I tried all the JB and ICS radios for the GS2 that are on the sticky (as well as some of the GB) and none of them worked. At this point, I think I'll try restoring to stock to see if that does anything.
