Am I the only one that plays this game with this phone or am I the only one with a problem?
I never get update notifications and even if I go into the game to play it won't give me updates if I haven't played in a while. I also have to repeatedly connect to FB to get the pictures back and then usually it'll update the games.
I haven't played on this phone but I never got them on my gnex.

i just flashed the Android Revolution 5.1.3 rom today but the problem started even when i had 5.1.1.. it just randomly started playing this weird guitar music and it doesn't stop until i restart the phone. it happened again just a few minutes ago and this is after flashing the 5.1.3 update. unfortunately i'm still pretty new to the android OS so i don't know everything about it which is why i'm here asking you guys... i checked the "running services" page in the settings to see if there was anything that it could be coming from but i didn't see anything out of the ordinary. i even checked the stock ringtones to see if it happened to be one of the ringtones that was playing but i don't think it's any of those either. i really have no idea what is going on. it's not that big of a deal because i can just restart the phone to make it stop but i really don't want this to keep happening. does anybody know what this could be and maybe have some advice one how to prevent this from happening again?
Do you have the game called "farm story" installed?

I experienced this a few times from NinJump (game). When I would leave it running in the background rather than actually quitting the app, it would randomly start playing music sometimes
Yeah if you had farm story on it and had a notification in the bar it plays its theme song... lol I had to turn off the music in the game because it would start at anytime of the day or night anytime you had to do something on the game it played it lol.

strange.. i don't think i've ever heard the music in any of the games that i have. it hasn't happened all day though. hopefully it stays that way.
Seriously, around 10pm at night my phones touchscreen becomes very slow and unresponsive and the only way to fix it is a reboot. this only happens when connected to wi-fi and only at night.
More over when playing games sometimes it seems to stop being a multi-touch screen. that is to say playing Gangstar for example if i am walking forward and press the attack button the virtual analog stick stops responding.
Is my phone defective or is this a common problem? I am on an unrooted desire s from Three.
SetCPU/ Juice Defender/ Any other crapware that could be screwing with your processes installed?
Which radio do you have installed? You can update your radio without rooting.
I dont have setcpu or juice defender, i have lookout mobile. might that be doing it? also using cloud based text prediction with swiftkey x.
As for the radio i'm fairly new to android, how do i find that out?
Android 2.3.3
Sense 2.1

If all that gibberish helps?
I have lookout. No slow down here.

yeah I didn't think that would be causing it. It's just weird. I guess I'll look at using a newer radio or wait for the official update due this week sometime.

I can't recommend either of those. If it was your radio you'd see poor performance across the board, not just kicking in a set time.
The official update seems to have more problems and issues than Jordan. I see a new thread daily in the Q&A section about new issues since the OTA update. Avoid it like you'd avoid Jordan.
The best way to rule out user error is to factory reset. If it's a hardware fault of the phone, the problem will persist and you know it (unfortunately) needs to go back for repair. Backup what you need, and try it. After the restore, try not to put anything back on app wise until after 10pm. Perhaps do the wipe at 9pm. Use google maps to test multi-touch. Mybackup Pro from the market, although not free, does have a trial period (or it used to) that should suffice for this experiment. Plus for non-rooted users, it's worth paying for as a backup app. Can even save your home-screen arrangement.
If it stops then you know it was something you had installed/set-up or a hiccup with your ROM. To find out which from here it is trial-and-error. Install this which gives you back the battery usage monitor Froyo (Android 2.2) used to have....

I'm assuming here that poor laggy screen response will go hand-in-hand with battery drain. Something kicking off at 10pm on WiFi should make itself apparent by moving quickly up the list between 9pm and 11pm.
Let me know if this helps. If not we can try a few other ideas out.
Thank you, I tried a factory reset last week, the problem was fine for a while but this weekend it started again, once again playing gangstar or any game that requires multi touch becomes unresponsive and te only way to fix it is a soft reset. I guess I got a defective phone. damn. its only 2 weeks old too.

So all is fine until gangstar goes on? I must admit i don't play many games, but it does sound like the game is at the root of this. Any other similar reports on the game in the market? Tried emailing the dev? Still don't understand why 10pm would be significant. Is it ok playing this game at other times? What happens if you manually change your clock to 9:55pm during the day?

No not just gangstar, Gameboid, N64oid, GBAoid, NOVA, Spider-Man, most games.
I know but its always 10pm and happens every few hours after that until I go to bed. its just bizarre but the time might be a coincidense?
This may be a bit "out there" and a wild guess, but are you using a non-official charger when you play games? Say at around 10pm? I have heard that the cheap chargers from Hong Kong / China although they spit out 5VDC, it's such a noisy unrectified rippled DC output it hampers touch screen performance. See these examples...

And this thread seems to sound like your problems...

Wait, when I'm at my girlfriends house I use her blade charger, might that do it?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Best way to check would be to use that multi touch test app mentioned in the last clip. Should tell you if your chargers output is causing the multi touch issue. Gotta be worth a try. HTC are taking up to 5 Weeks to get repairs done. My friend returned his desire s recently (fried eMMC chip) and that's how long it took!

Thanks wnp, i've come to the conclusion that it's faulty however. "Ghost images" are now starting to appear on my phone. Like right now even though I'm on the xda app I can faintly see my sense clock and icons.
Very frustrating.

Ive been playing Temple Run and Collapse a lot lately and I've been able to go back into my game and keep playing with all my game data in place. Then I noticed after not having played for about a full day that I would go back into my game and all of my progress is gone!? I never deleted any data off my phone or off the sd card portion or anything like that. At most my phone might have restarted and that's about it. Has anyone else been having a problem with this?
This has happened with my current htc one s and the one that i've already sent back to tmobile. It's also been occurring on stock and now that i have root. Any ideas as to why?
Not sure. I have problems playing games themselves. Namely plants vs. zombies, dead space and NBA jam. Think its a dual core phone issue since my hd2 plays and saves flawlessly. I would suggest you do a titanium backup every play through, then just restore data when you come back. Not ideal but better than starting everything all over

Read the thread, that's more related to me going in and out of the game though. I don't see why multitasking would screw up my save data on a game. Shouldnt the game already "save" its data somewhere... Like on collapse for instance... you play level by level. You pass a level it saves and you can move on to the next. My problem is when im done playing and i stop using my phone, i go back into my game and everything is gone. as if i never played the game at all.
Hi All,
I have a problem with my HTC butterfly. I bought this phone 10 days ago and am noticing a bit of a lag when i play jetpack joyride game. I also have a HTC one XL which is a Dual core phone, but works without any lags. Other than that, even Minion rush game on my HTC butterfly seems to be not up to the mark, compared to HTC one XL. Phone calls(over cellular radio), application response and Sense 4 does not have any Lag at all. I reset the phone to factory defaults, installed only jetpack joyride, same result. it lags a little bit.
Other problem with the phone is Skype and viber(havent tried any other application though).
In Skype, outbound voice works fine without any issues. Inbound voice starts to break after few seconds of the call. Same with Viber app. I did notice something funny, when someone makes a call, the phone's screen turns off. I only have issues when the phone screen goes off on a call or when i forcefully lock the phone when I am on a call. No issues with the screen is on!!
Funny part...
I wanted to be sure that its not a hardware fault, I downloaded asphalt 8, was impressed with the game graphics. It was performing "ok", i'd say. I set the graphics to "high" instead of medium, and vola!! it performs much better than "medium" settings!!
I'm kind of lost right now. Should I return this phone and get another one ?(I have 30 days time, 20 days more to go) or give it HTC service center for flashing the ROM again ? or is it something with viber and skype alone ? I also put the phone in airplane mode, made a skype call and with the screen turned off completely, the same result.
I'm on Jelly bean 4.1.1. Its a HTC butterfly x920D - Indian version. and HTC one XL is on JB 4.0.4, rooted. I do not want to upgrade to sense 5, because I bought HTC butterfly mainly for the Sense 4+ feature and personalization.
Can anyone think of any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance.

Awww man... I was hoping that someone would come up with something and spare me from such an advice
Thank you, I'll have that in mind.. will do soon..
since last night my phone went whack and now when i unplug the aux or headphone cables the music keeps playing. when plugging in the poweramp starts playing and i go to spotify to play music and both are playing. i heard both songs for a minute while driving down the road till i finally had to pause poweramp. what gives? i rebooted the phone last night. it also played music with spotify when i made a phone call and i couldn't go to the screen to pause it because the screen kept flashing off everytime i tried to touch it to bring the player back up to pause it. kind of hard to hear my friend on the the phone with music playing. usually when making a call the player pauses on it's own and resumes after.
same here, software update is to blame imo...

it seems to be working fine by now, how about you @railfan-eric ?
It was Spotify and they added a new update after tons of threads and posts about this issue in the Spotify forums. I haven't tried it on my phone yet but the new update works on my tablet. I sideloaded an old version for the phone to temporarily fix the problem.
