What's up guys!
I need advise/s.
I'm torn between this two. Its the same product but diff sets. I'm from Singapore anyway.
1. A seller in a local forum selling a 3 months old Local Set with an unfilled warranty for 460SGD (360USD).
2. A local shop selling an Export Set (idk from whch country) for
490SGD (380USD).
Yes. One is used and one is brand new with 30SGD (25USD) difference.
Which should I get and should I worry about warranties?
If I get the used one will Samsung replace 1 to 1 if there is any problem with the set?
What are the common issues that this tab has and needs to send for replacement/repairs that says that I really NEED a local warranty?
Any of you guys using an export set? Any issues with service centres?
I can't decide.
I'm a regular ROM Flasher and it voids the warranty I know and this makes me wanna go for the brand new export set BUT! the other side of me says alot of what if'!!!
Appreciate it lots for the reply guys.
Have a good day!
*Currency converted are rounded off to the nearest cents btw. Close but no cigar. ;P
Got the local set tho. Damn its shiny! ;D

As long as warranty hasn't been voided, the device should be able to be replaced by Samsung no matter who owns it for the full year of warranty.

My Incredible, which I love, took a bath in my pocket and is having all sorts of issues now. I'm up for an upgrade and decided that I'm going with a Thunderbolt over the Inc2. My question is, has anyone had horror story with the recertified phones from Verizon? My boss got his Incredible from the precertified program and has had continuous issues. Thoughts?
Should be ok. If theres something
Wrong you could always send it back for a new one. I had hardware problems with a replacement and they had no problem sending out a new one.

I've never bought a certified reused phone but i did go through warranty replacements and they send me certified used ones. I don't really see a difference. They look brand new and work just as fine. If there is a problem, you can always exchange it or ask for another warranty replacement,
I suppose I could go a week or two prior to rooting it to make sure there aren't any issues. I guess I'd survive.
Mines certified used from vzw. Was bassically brand new I'm box. Everything was new except the SD card i think, it was already installed in the phone. Haven't had any problems whatsoever

I don't have a problem with a recertified device. Anytime you receive a replacement device for issues you're receiving a certified like new device. If you have any problems Verizon still covers it and replaces it for you. I would buy one.
no i hate refurbs.
Mine is a referb and I have not had a problem. Rooted it and everything and not a single problem.

Yes, depending on price. Got my brand new TB on launch day for $75 (after loyalty discount & Best Buy comp) so it would have to be pretty cheap!
Thanks, Robrecht
I would buy an HTC refurb. I've never had bad luck with manufacturer refurbished items, there are certain products that are cheap to begin with that I wouldn't buy refurbished, but then again I generally don't buy cheap stuff new either, especially when it comes to hardware.
I'd love to find a refurb on sale to buy for my girlfriend to use as we're both just starting to get into some theming and learning some development
My Bolt is a CPO. I got it for $199. The first one they sent was defective. I simply called them and they sent another. No worries since. Before my first two weeks had completed, they dropped the price on the CPO's to $169. I called them up and asked about it...they credited me the $30. I've been very pleased. Especially coming from the Eris.
Go for it.

I'm with you, you pay 250 dollar's for a phone, it breaks then they send you a used one.

I got mine new for 99 for an upgrade they gave me 100 off then I got a postcard with another 50 a week after I bought it so I ended up paying 99. My girl got the palm 2 and I did bill to my account ( I lost my wallet ) and instead of billing my acct the credited it for 149 dollar's. LOL bet that'll never happen again.

I buy used phones all the time, who knows if they are a refurb or not, never have problems.
Most of the problems people return their phones for can be solved with a master reset.
Nothing wrong with a cpo/refurb device imo
Buy a used TH from Craigslist and don't extend your contract. Then when the dual-core phones arrive get one of those. My next phone will be 4G, dual-core with 4 inch screen. TB just too big/heavy but I like it.

Hey xdites
Le me Using a SGA right now and le mum needs a new phone as she lost her previous
Requirements are basic calling and a little interest in GPS

That's around $200 Australian. You should be able to pick up something very capable for that price. I'd look at an original Galaxy S, HTC Desire HD or Motorola Atrix
I hear there's a fair bit of price hiking in the Indian grey market though, so it may be cheaper for you to look Internationally. A lot of your fellow countrymen who operate here use Aramex or Worldnetexpress to forward their goods from New York
Good luck!
LOL all those phones here are of double the price 20k

Then you are getting ripped blind my friend, no wonder so many Indian guys hang out in the MP!
I suppose then you'd be looking at something like a Galaxy W, Wildfire S or similar? I'll ask one of the guys to drop into your thread and pass on their advice for you
Thanks looking forward to it

are you looking for new ones or used devices ?
You can get a Dell XCD 35 for around 7.5k with warranty, brand new.
If you can work with used phones, you will be able to source a mint condition captivate, fascinate for around 10-11k.
Where are you located? Let me know, i might be able to help if you are in and around Delhi or Chandigarh.

Hi all,
I'm thinking of going for a HTC One X contract.
I'd like to recycle my HTC Sensation as it's in good condition and I've seen it can go for £180-ish, which'd help pay off my remaining contract on the Sensation.
Would I need to reinstall a stock ROM, firmware, S-on and De-root etc...?
Cheers all!
T-L-H
Depends who's buying it!
You could advertise it as rooted and say you will put it back to stock if the buyer wishes.
It's up to you but certainly you don't have to return to stock to sell it.

Ah I don't mean auctioning it off, I mean selling it to a site like Mazuma, Envirophone etc...

If Mazuma, Enviofone, and so on are offering 180 Then there will be people out there willing to pay more on a private sale, like ebay , amazon
Its upto you, but you dont have to go back to stock to sell to recycle companies.
They just check the phone is in working condition and then pay out.
I dont know what they do with it then, recycle / resell ? be stupid to disassemble such new phone for parts n stuff tho !
I sold my rooted Desire to a recycler and they didn't say anything, before that I sold a Touch HD running a custom ROM, again nothing was said.
You can get a lot more selling privately but that's if you can be bothered.
Just simply tell the buyer feel free to request a non-official Rom

I dropped my phone yesterday and cracked the glass. It's still functioning but very annoying to use and I'm sure next drop will finish it.
What are my options?
I've called Rogers (our carrier in Canada) they want $345 to fix it and I've called independent shops. They want anywhere from $205 to $245 to fix it (I'm assuming these would be aftermarket components).
What if I buy the components from ebay and do it myself. Is it doable?

Don't live life on the edge, buy a case. As per your question, here
edit: If you drop xda from the search terms you even get a youtube video, depicting some dirty coke user.
Moving to Q&A. Post in the correct forums
I did a search on youtube and got nothing on replacing the screen on our phones (i727)

I have just recently replaced my screen and was in the same boat as you. The part itself is around the $200 range where-ever you look. Yes, they are expensive screens.
Depending on your skill level, I found it fairly easy to replace myself but there are some repair shops all over that charge minimally for the actual repair; myself, here in my part of the Country (by Calgary), I charge $40 for the repair.
Don't know if that helped you or not but the site I got my screen from is cellphonepartscanada, just have to google it.
about $150 to do it yourself.
Everyone cracks their glass when they drop their phone...I crack tiles.

If you have insurance... reported it as lost, and pay the $150 deductible for a new phone... you'll get in the mail by 3 business days.

Carrier insurance is always a hassle. I've had great luck using Square. ATT might be different than T-Mobile, but when my blackberry got swiped, they didn't cover it.
Currently I'm rolling with AT&T and am starting to get on that new device train, you know, get the new tech (phone or tablet) when it comes out. Thing is, I don't have a ton of disposable income. College is not kind to you. I do however, have an upgrade from AT&T.
Point of this thread is to get some insight from you guys as to how you move up in the phone game. Do you use your upgrades? Where do you go to buy the phone? Do you keep or sell the previous device?
Thanks for the help!!
I TRY to upgrade every 2.5 years max. And I like to keep the phone. But there's not many choices of phones to buy in my country so this slow down the process. Also devices are very expensive here so I need to gather all the money I need before buying one

I wait till i have an upgrade, then use it. I always keep one old device as a backup, and sell any others on Craigslist (to avoid ebay fees)
