Hi all,
I'm thinking of going for a HTC One X contract.
I'd like to recycle my HTC Sensation as it's in good condition and I've seen it can go for £180-ish, which'd help pay off my remaining contract on the Sensation.
Would I need to reinstall a stock ROM, firmware, S-on and De-root etc...?
Cheers all!
T-L-H
Depends who's buying it!
You could advertise it as rooted and say you will put it back to stock if the buyer wishes.
It's up to you but certainly you don't have to return to stock to sell it.

Ah I don't mean auctioning it off, I mean selling it to a site like Mazuma, Envirophone etc...

If Mazuma, Enviofone, and so on are offering 180 Then there will be people out there willing to pay more on a private sale, like ebay , amazon
Its upto you, but you dont have to go back to stock to sell to recycle companies.
They just check the phone is in working condition and then pay out.
I dont know what they do with it then, recycle / resell ? be stupid to disassemble such new phone for parts n stuff tho !
I sold my rooted Desire to a recycler and they didn't say anything, before that I sold a Touch HD running a custom ROM, again nothing was said.
You can get a lot more selling privately but that's if you can be bothered.
Just simply tell the buyer feel free to request a non-official Rom

yeh, is this also going to make a US release? if not our community will be qute small and there will be very little development. TBH, i cant see many peopl going for this device. they will mostlikely to forward with the dual core phones...Thats probably why o2 have mad it cheap - not many ppl are buying it
I think this has superior software, and hardware to the SGS, its also much newer... but battery life how will it be??
I'm planning on getting one but I don't fancy shelling out £400 for a sim-free unit.
I did see the o2 store having them in stock for £330.
BUT I have a few questions:
1. They can unlock it free? Don't you need to be on the network for a while and pay for them to unlock?
2. Is there any o2 branding on the back or front?
3. Is there any o2 bloatware installed?
4. Have o2 disabled any features? Such as wi-fi hotspot?
5. Is there an o2 logo on the bootscreen?
I like to have my phones clear of any bloatware and any branding. But £400 is a bit much for me for a phone.

1) they unlock it if you email them or something. i read it on the website. its free and easy. you dont need to have the phone for any required time
2) no physical o2 branding.
3) yes there is some o2 bloatware on it. such as apps, boot screen, pictures, videos, ringtones.
4) not sure. probably not.
5) yes i've seen it on the old desire.
Imo, get this and then flash an unbranded htc official rom somehow its much cheaper than buying it simfree.
Actually considering this now or SGS II as it will have a price drop and has a large community!
anyone else going for this?!

It depends who's working I guess.
You just ask if it comes with a case, if he says no, ask him/her what cases are available. Then look, then say that the cases are expensive for what they are and say you HAVE to have a case like its OCD. Then walk off. They sometimes ask you to come back and 'negotiate' a deal :L Sometimes works on contracts getting a couple months free etc.
Or say another company like phones4u have offered you a better deal. Then carphonewarehouse may give you an even better deal.
EDIT: And just make sure you know your stuff and not make things obvious. If you have been with carphonewarehouse for a while and you are due an upgrade but want to cancel, they are most likely to give you a great deal on a newer contract, but won't not a new phone, to keep you with them. My sister is on a 24months contract few hundred mins, unlimited text+internet for £15 a month with 14 months free.
They all negotiate to get commission. As long as the deal doesn't make them a loss than they should be fine.

ah, i see quite smart!
I'm a payg customer anyway with a contract on giffgaff. so i only get simfree phones. (or can be unlocked)
my friend did that when he got his htc legend on vodaphone. thanks for the tip!
personally, im getting it from o2 payg in summer. or hopefully by then, the incredible will match its price
Looks like this may be the way to go rather than buying SIM free, which is about £380...
These guys claim to be able to unlock any HTC phone for $15.75 too (about £10).
http://www.htcsimunlock.com/
I might wait until the Desire S gets rooted though, and by that time the price will have dropped more - especially when the dual cores are out. I hope so anyway.

Hey guys, I've had this phone ever since it came out. I've been using a HTC Desire Z because it was more stable.
I need a replacement but it's been so long, whats the best route to go if I need a replacement? It's been more than the 14-day for TMobile and 30-day for the LG warranty? I have been told to wait for the update but I have no idea, I was going to sell the phone and get a sensation but I would probably lose $200 dollars since G2x is going for 300 on eBay.
What do you guys think?

Are you wanting to replace it due to software bugs or hardware defects? If its just software then I'd keep it. The g2x roms on here are VERY stable.
I got a great deal for this tablet but the man said his company refurbished it themselves. Should I buy it? What problems are you guys having? Common issues? I really like it and he said they'll give me a 7 day warranty.

A seven day warranty isn't very long...does that mean you can return it for your full money back if you don't want to keep it for any reason? Is it a US Xoom model? The Xoom is terrific, even more so with the Ice Cream Sandwich update, but just be careful, because any deal that sounds too good to be true, usually is.

I got mine from Newegg.com. Super fast shipping. I've purchased a bunch of tech stuff from them and have always been happy. I paid $329 free shipping for mine. It is a wifi that was refurbished by Motorola. Mine arrived in brand new condition. I have a year warranty on it.

A seven day warranty is a joke, and I'm guessing anyone who offers a seven day warranty is a joke as well. I would be very cautious about that deal. Remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. You are better off buying something off Ebay from an totally unknown seller, at least Ebay has buyer protection to cover you if the item does work as described.
Thanks guys I backed off it was just too good, yeah 7 days is too short. Thanks again I will continue my search, and will try Newegg.
One quick question guys .. what's the difference between the original Xoom and the family edition one?

The original Xoom can be rooted, modded, upgraded to ICS right now.
The Family Edition has a nicer screen, iirc, but it's not unlockable/rootable, and they have to wait for Motorola to upgrade them to ICS.
I would absolutely go with the original Xoom. It's still the best tablet around, even though it's about a year old.

couldn't agree more. The original xoom has fantastic support on these forums and the developers have barely scratched the surface of what they can do. Plus, if memory serves, the family edition cant have extra memory added to it unlike the original xoom. That factor alone closes the deal in my eyes.
Getting ready to ebay my Infuse to pay for my new phone...any thoughts if I should offer it up for sale as Unlocked Froyo or OEM Gingerbread (2.3.6)?
From the feeling I get on this forum mine is prob one of the few that runs very well on the new OEM Gingerbread release...no issues. BUT, for more ebay $$$$ I'd be willing to Unlock it (i guess either original Froyo or even the latest GB Leak.)

Unlocked GB would be best, no question.
Like Hey, I have an unlocked Infuse that's been updated to the latest official AT&T Gingerbread software.
You can try using this link to unlock it for free: Unlock Code Found Infuse 4G **Root Required**
It worked great for me.
OEM GB
For most of the consumers probably they would not like pre-rooted.
Think of this, if they like rooting, they like and they could flash the rom they want. They might have their different preference. If it's not someone that feel comfortable with rooting, they would prefer
The other day i saw an infuse that sold higher than others that had Miui running on it. He had a video link on it showing how the interface is. He put in his description "iphone like" and "best of both worlds." I think that got him more money because he was able to cater to a larger crowd who loves apple but wants to try android.
Give that a shot and let us know.

My humble two cents says unrooted official gb release. I say this because the buyer starts with a known quantity, the unrooted phone. They are more likely to buy with confidence if they believe the device is pristine and not running some haxored software.
I would also offer to root the device for an additional small fee should the purchaser wish.
Again, just my humble two cents, the call is ultimately yours.

I sell my cellphones wih stock rooms, b/c people ask a lot for he hdmi...
Gb or froyo its the same... For buyers.. I mean, it depends of the target..
Newly users of android didn't recognize the difference.. But an educated user may ask about root and stuff..
So I go with stock...

I just got this phone yesterday and I love it. imo I think the one x looks better but I love how compact this phone is for how big the screen is. cant go wrong that. as far as im concerned the one x+ still isn't too much of an upgrade besides its hd screen
I think you can't go wrong with either. The One X does feel good and solid and the bigger screen is awesome too. But the One S is so thin and sexy; even with a case. I went back to stock for the new update and this thing is even faster.
In my opinion, the only reason somebody would get a One X is because of the bigger screen. Even though the One is is marketed below the One X, it certainly does not feel or operate like it.
I don't think there will be a One S+. The way I see it, the One X+ was a small bump that gave the US a non-LTE but Tegra3 version. If you want the big screen, I would wait, but I'm really happy with the One S for the already stated reasons.

I just got a new one from craigslist a couple days ago, nothing wrong with getting stuff off of CL.. especially since phones come with a 1 year manufacture warranty if there is a issue with it (besides cracked screens).
Just bought HTC One S from a "nice" dude I found on Craigslist. The guy apparently works for T-Mobile, and we completed the transaction at a T-Mobile store. I paid $275 for a brand new HTC One S. I wanted a Galaxy S3 originally but getting a One S for around 60% of a GS3 price feels good. It's a good phone for the price for sure.
HTC One S is a great phone, if you enjoy compacted efficiency.
This phone is great IMO it all comes down to what you like, go on YouTube watch some reviews and see what you think.

You can always rendezvous with the craiglist seller in a bank or ATM machines as there are always camera's there and you can verify the phone is legit and then get the money from the ATM and that way if you ever have to file a complaint, you will have the time and hopefully the camera captured you and the seller doing the transaction in the bank lobby
