[ROM][GB 2.3.7][Port]LewaOS R.282 Testing version [1/9/2013] - T-Mobile LG G2x

This is my first port ever so any advice, feedback is appreciated.
I'm not a developer, I just want to learn and I found that doing this port was not too difficult. So if anyone feels like helping me out learn about porting, etc then feel free to contact me.
I decided to open this thread for better support and faster feedback as I'm planing to keep it as up to date, bug free as my skills and time permit.
Well the official website for the rom is LewaOS
Credit: Thanks to xj220gt, for his initial port that got my interest, to the CM team since I'm using their roms as a base, and to whoever else credit is due.
New baseband = March 11 2012
Old Baseband = July 2011

How to install:
1-) Make a nandroid backup of most recent working rom. Also use titaniumbackup or similar to backup your data
2-) Wipe clean all partitions
3-) Flash the new Rom
4-) Flash GAPPS
5-) Flash your kernel (optional)
6-) Boot up
7-) Restore your apps, be mindful when restoring settings.
I know this might be a lot of work, but that is the safest way I have found to keep my data as I have lots of apps. Also You must keep your sd card files intact for this to work.
After first boot, do the initial setup, fix permissions and reboot. That is all.
What is working: Everything.
What is not working: As far as I know no issues.

Add-ons
If you want my zip with the updated camera.apk and updated libs for the new baseband then flash this. The mod was not made by me, I just updated the libs to make it work with current roms.
Gapps:

You will need a custom recovery with support for ext4 for trinity kernels, if you want use these.

For Linux: CWM-Based Recovery 5.0.2.8 For P999(Internal & External SD)

How to add support for old or new baseband?
I have been asked what did I do to get the latest nightly to support the old baseband so I will just put it here.
To add support for the new baseband just get these 4 files from here.
Then You will open your rom file or just add the files to the following locations replacing old files:
1-)nvddk_audiofx_core.axf to /system/bin/nvddk_audiofx_core.axf
2-)nvrm_daemon to /system/bin/nvrm_daemon
3-)libnvddk_audiofx.so to /system/lib/libnvddk_audiofx.so
4-)libnvmm_audio.so to /system/lib/libnvmm_audio.so
This has only been tested to work with GB
If you want to provide support for the old baseband instead of the new one then just do the same, but get the files from a rom that supports the old baseband, I recommend CM7.2 RC2, it is the same process.

How to unbrick-upgrade or/and downgrade baseband.
Okay the first thing is to go to stock (rooted) 2.3.3 this will work for unbriking and everything. G2X_V21E_00_NVFlash The original thread can be found here.
This is good in case you brick or want to upgrade, you go to a lower version so LG tool let you upgrade.
Code:

After that, I recommend to firmware device with help programms KDZ or LG Mobile Update[/QUOTE]
Now we need to download the kdz files.
The V21Y_00 update (LG T-Mobile branded Android 2.3.4) can be found here and the Original thread
Use this file for upgrading to the newer baseband.
For downgrading go to this thread on the first post, if you have a T-Mobile phone download this one if not the the other.
From this thread download the offline tool
This tool will let us upgrade or downgrade.
Now the thread provide instructions but many people get lost even with the pictures because there are basic yet important steps he misses.
1-) Unzip the tool.
2-) go to start menu and look for wordpad, do a rick click and run as administrator.
3-) Opend wordpad as administrator, from it, open up the “host” file is under C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ or %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\ at the bottom add 127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com.
4-)open cmd.exe as administrator, cd to the unzipped directory and run Automatic Offline Procedure.vbs
To open cm or wordpad as administrator you have to do a search in the menu bar and then a right click and select "run as" or "run as administrator"
5-) The script will install 1. MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser, let it do it.
6-) The script will also run 2. “windows enabler.exe”, on the status bar (usually right lower corner) a new icon will show up, do a left click and make sure it says on.
7-) 3. Enable the phone’s “USB debugging” mode (menu>settings>applications>development>USB debugging), connect the phone to PC and wait for drivers to be loaded.
4. Run "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe" if the script dont already start it. It usually does.
9-) Despite of what the original guides says, the only thing you need to change is select the kdz file.
10-) Press "Normal web upgrade test" > upgrade start >
11-) Select: Clear Phone Software update registry, Select "Different Country" and select your Language. Click <OK>
12-) Ignore any message saying to check the internet and run again, this is good.
13-) Wait until it finishes. If it gives any message that the phone is not connected or something like that, disconnect it, turn it off, remove battery and plug it back holding "Volume Down" key. (Automatically goes to Upgrade mode).
That's it. The same process to upgrade or downgrade.
The last step is to flash cwm. Use the link I provide in this same post.

Yes it is, I just added the changelog.

I just found out that the lewas dial app crashes when you receive a call. I was testing wifi calls, so the good news is, it works, the bad news is, I'll have to change that app and re-upload.

hey op, just some advice, you should add in the op screenshots, what kind of rom this is, and its features etc. cuz most of us cant read chinese

Removed file, I'm going to start over. I broke data while playing with changing the dial apk.

If it did not work on CM7.2 Nightly from 05/27/2012 then there is a high chance that it will not work as it is based on that.
I'm currently testing a build. When changing the phone.apk and its odex file for the phone.apk from cm it seems my data is gone and dialers crash at boot. Currently trying to figure out how to fix it.

After much struggle I decided to start completely clean. So I got the data working again but the dialer would crash when incoming calls.
Now I'm going to try to replace the phone.apk for the CM one. If that works then soon enough I should have a "stable" version soon.
There is a new initial release, check changelog for more info.

I'm still unable to replace the crappy dialer app from this rom, ugh!
Still working on finsding a solution. If anyone could help me with showing me how to deodex this rom, and even better, how to replace the dialer app without breaking data, please let me know.
Edit: ALso I just finished reuploading, this time I changed the chinese apps for better ones eventhough dialer issue still persist. AT last that would be a better initial release than just pure stock Lewaos.

Keep us updated. The dialer messenger combo is kind of cool, if I was able to make calls...

How i disable lockscreen, so i can add widgets on home screen in Lewas OS rom? Because every time i pressed the screen it locks and dont let me add widgets.

With the stock I was able to make calls with both wifi calling and without. The problem is to receive it.
I'm not that popular either way so I could go without it for a while

Well normally on the lewaos launcher, you just press and hold the screen, then a menu will appear at the button, select widgets, then above that menu the available widgets will show up.
The closest setting I see for lockscreen is on settings>personal>themes<customize> then you get lockscreen and its wallpaper.
Support for themes is fully working. But you need to use the default launcher to see the changes not adw launcher.
Aside from this, I'm not quite sure what is your issue as I can get widgets just fine.

Old baseband version coming soon. Hopefully this one will be stable. I'm planing on using the latest nightly and remove support of the new baseband to make it work with the old one.
Also I have a untested ICS rom Genesis Beta 9 with support for the new baseband, and updated kernel modified by me. So I'll be going back to the new baseband to test that rom

Yayyyyy, hopefully dialer can be resolved. The Wi-Fi calling apk is in this correct?

About RELEASE
This is a custom ROM based on the Japanese Softbank 003Z ROM.
IMPORTANT! Everyone must wipe data/cache when updating to RLS8. Even if you tried RLS7.5 (sorry but I signed some more stuff after RLS7.5 so a wipe is needed)

Japanese_Jellyfish_RLS8_smartdialer_addon.zip (Restore Smart Dialer and RLS7 version of Contacts) MD5: 6C3EA10C177ADFC8A60926084D2D3C67
Installation
Use Clockwork Recovery 2.5.0.9 or 2.5.1.3 or 2.5.1.8 to install the ROM and addons. Remember to Wipe data/cache when installing the ROM. No wipe, no whine...
It also works to use the RA_Recovery as an alternative to Clockwork.
LCD and/or Apps2SD user may want to try this Clockwork version where I replaced the kernel with my custom kernel so it supports EXT3 and the new displays: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1501261
Changing system partition size to 128Mb and data to 286Mb(FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY ON THEIR OWN RISK!)
Download the image version of the ROM and extract the "image" folder to the the SD-card.
Power off the phone and when powering on hold Menu and Volume-up
When some green text shows up saying it's installing a bunch of .mbn and .img files you may release the buttons and wait for it to reboot. (NOTE: I tried this on a TFT Blade and no green text was shown, just a black screen but after a while it rebooted and everything had worked like it was supposed to. Not sure if it was a coincidence or if TFT Blades doesn't show the green text)
NOTE! This also installs a bunch of firmware files from the Hungarian 256->512Mb update. It works fine on my OSF but do NOT blame me if it bricks your phone. You do not NEED to change partition sizes to use the "lite" version. It's just for advanced users who want to get more space for apps in /data. If this sounds confusing, then it's not for you.
Don't forget to rename or remove the "image" folder on the SD-card when you are done so that you do not reinstall your phone by mistake later on. Sometimes it enters the "image" install when you try to boot into bootloader mode if the image folder still exists on the card.
Go back to standard partition sizes
Repeat the above but with this "image" folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?xtckadj09b7sxt2 MD5: C8010D841AF463F3CB1FDEDFFAFA3B1E. After this you will have Clockwork Recovery as both boot and recovery image so you'll need to put a ROM on your SD-card and install.
RLS8 - 2011-01-18
Added VoiceSearch as it is not available in Market for some.
Added CIFS support to kernel.
Added a non-renamed Gingerbread keyboard (stolen from a Nexus AOSP build) so it's now called "AndroidKeyboard".
Signed everthing connected to framework-res.apk, Contacts.apk and Mms.apk with AOSP platform certs. This makes life eaiser for themers.
Enabled standard Dialer in Contacts.
Removed SmartDialer.apk.
Updated Mms.apk with the version from the now released Chinese V880 ROM (previously used Mms.apk from leaked V880 ROM).
Disabled AGPS by default. Not sure it makes a difference to turn it on and it seems to provoke some "Connection cannot be made" if enabled.
SmartDialer and RLS7 version of Contacts.apk (without dialer) as an addon.
Blue-ish Gingerbread keyboard as addon (using a selected part of modifications found here.
Updated RA recovery.img in "image" install (TPT) to Sebastian404s latest version.
Post RLS7 fixes (attached)
Facebook sync fixed
RLS7 - 2011-01-13
gps.conf back to pre-RLS6 version
resolv.conf removed (don't think it was used anyway and have only seen it in CM releases)
VPN menus enabled in Settings.
Automatic time setting enabled in Settings.
Signal indicators fixed (using same levels as in ZTE 2.1 ROMs)
Original Alarm clock back (has more options) but can be replaced with Desk Clock through addon if DeskClock is preferred.
Stock Filer app back as it can be good to have a simple file manager in place.
Removed lots of lib connected to the iwnnime (japanese IME) that was removed erlier. (Size of system is now below 120Mb)
Changed HH.MM time display to HH:MM in Danish, Norwegian and Finnish language files.
Added more PPP options in kernel (for VPN).
Circle battery indicator is no longer the default but can be added as an addon.
Added Sebastians RA recovery (with CM colors) to the "image" install as it supports EXT4 and also the addons needs a recovery image.
I'm sorry but it is NOT resigned with test keys as I promised it would be. I'm afraid resigning everything with testkeys can lead to problems when updates to "stock" apps like Gmail and Market arrives. This needs to be investigated further before testsigning the release.
Post RLS6 fixes (attached)
Fixed gps.conf
RIL libs for Saunalahti users to stop it from appearing to be roaming when it's not.
RLS6
Added Gmail back as it seems to missing in Market for some people.
Replaced AlarmClock.apk with DeskClock.apk.
Added resolv.conf with Googles public DNS-servers.
Added Googles SUPL host in gps.conf.
Disabled hardware GUI as eat seems to eat battery (enable with addon if you want it)
Changed wifi scan interval from 15 to 180 seconds (saves battery).
Updated apns-conf.xml with some changes found in CM 6.1.
Enabled EXT4 and PPP in kernel and changed kernel to use LZMA compressed initrd.
Removed the built in Japanese voicemail numbers.
Removed recovery.img from "image" install so that it doesn't overwrite any previously installed recovery images.
Removed the hacked "stock" FM Radio and updated Andorko's version to 0.5.
RLS5
No more bloating, only one super-slimmed version that fits on 128Mb system partition (more info and instructions will come later)
New kernel with overclocking support (Use SetCPU)
Added swap and compcache support.
Compiled and added tun.ko for the new kernel.
Re-added Google Search box.
Replaced MMS app with version from the chinese leaked ROM which supports adding multiple recipients.
Replaced libril-qc-1.so and libcm.so with versions from the Swedish Comviq ROM (previously used versions from the Finnish Saunlahti ROM).
(Saunalahti users should use the attached update so that it doens't look like it's roaming)[/url]
RLS4
Now also works without SIM cards (thanks to MDCFan)
No bootlogo, keeps Splash screen until bootanimation starts. Saves space in ramdisk and splash is rather easy to replace yourself compared to replacing the bootlogo.
Removed Nexus bootanimation and uses the default Android flashing logo.
Added ADW Launcher
Added Emulator ROMs
Added VM Heap tool (and changed VM Heap size back to the default 24Mb as you can now easily change it yourselves)
Turned off Stagefright. Stagefright are a new set of media decoders in 2.2 but they are broken in our release which is why it doubles the Quadrant Scores. It doesn't make the phone faster, just the benchmarks and it's just a illusion.
Changed default wallpaper.
Made a super-slim lite version that fits well within a 128Mb system partition (see "Partition layout change" thread and this post for more info.)
RLS3b
Removed libOmxAacDec.so and libOmxMp3Dec.so as suggested by Flibb to get rid of the random mp3 playing issues.
Put the new Settings.apk and SettingsProvider.apk into the right place so this time Tethering and Assisted GPS controls should be there.
RLS3
(native)Wifi Hotspot
USB tethering (mobile data or Wifi)
Enabled AGPS and the checkbox to control it.
Replaced Home Switcher with Froyo version
Included both working Radio apps (thanks to MDCFan and Andorko
Jellyfish got missing after a tragic misunderstanding at a sushi bar and have been replaced with green android and nexus bootanimation.
Updated Linpack to latest version.
IMPORTANT! The themes likely needs to be updated to support RLS3 or they will disable Wifi hotspot and usb tethering through wifi. Usb tethering over through mobile data should still work though.Frankish! The file that is chaned in framework-res.apk is res/values/arrays.xml. You can propably just get the whole resources.rsc from my framework-res.apk and put it into your framework-res.apk files. Just remeber to NOT use compression on the resources.rsc. Use WinRAR and choose "Store" when you add it.
RLS2
The USIM error on unlocked phones is now gone (thansk to MDCFan)
The Japanese extra call dialogue that some people experienced is gone.
Circle battery indicator
Removed APNDroid as it is obsolete with the new Power control widget.
Updated Titanium Backup
Removed the CKPD-daemon
Added Spare Parts
RLS1
Cleaned ROM from branding, custom contacts, bookmarks etc...
Added most of the extra stuff from Finnish Fillyjonk (Launcher Pro etc...)
Upgraded several Google apps and Market.
Unlocked all languages
Added Gingerbread Keyboard and made it the default IME.
Added Wifi tethering app as this kernel, as opposed to the 2.1 kernel, seems to have the needed netfilter stuff enabled.
Enabled hardware GUI accelleration, stagefright etc...
Known issues
Sometimes when an app request root permissions it just "hangs". Resolved by restarting phone or just kill all tasks with a Task killer.
Some phone companies "borrows" other companies networks and will show as roaming when it didn't with the stock ROM. In this case you need to replace libcm.so and libril-qc-1.so with the versions from your stock 2.1 ROM. Updates attached for Saunalahti and Yesss.

i flashed the RLS2... works fine for me
I've installed "Extended Controls" and if you install a USB Tether "switch" on one of your homescreens and connect your Blade to your windows pc with a USB cable and press the switch, USB tethering DOES work with this ROM. (make sure data = ON)

What is "Extended Controls"? I'm now trying to setup native USB tethering on Modaco Paul's last 2.2 ROM and have no succes.
With this new ROM on what system your USB tethering works? I have Windows XP only at this moment, could it work on it?

only if zte release the kernel for that device
until now we only have the kernel for the 3.2mp's camera
Confirmed 3G - USB tethering
3G tethering works in 3b release. Also standard "Modem" menu returned on its place in Settings. And great newest app for Radio already included in 3beta firmware. I think it's the best firmware now for Blade.
Occasional screen freeze
Hi there Mannas,
I got a ZTE blade for christmas and I put this rom on it and it is very good. I however am seeing the occasional screen freeze where, when I wake the phone up cannot use the screen. Now the buttons still work and I can press the power button and it responds giving the options but I cannot press any of them.
I am running this rom with SetCPU and Advanced Task Manager which I shall switch off to see if it makes a difference.
Any thoughts on how to capture this issue would be appreciated as its a good phone.. just a little frustrated why the screen input disapears occasionally forcing a reset with the battery.

Changing system partition size to 128Mb and data to 286Mb(FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY ON THEIR OWN RISK!)
* Download the image version of the ROM and extract the "image" folder to the the SD-card.
* Power off the phone and when powering on hold Menu and Volume-up
* When some green text shows up saying it's installing a bunch of .mbn and .img files you may release the buttons and wait for it to reboot.
Post RLS7 fixes (attached)
* Facebook sync fixed
RLS7 - 2011-01-13
* gps.conf back to pre-RLS6 version
* resolv.conf removed (don't think it was used anyway and have only seen it in CM releases)
* VPN menus enabled in Settings.
* Automatic time setting enabled in Settings.
* Signal indicators fixed (using same levels as in ZTE 2.1 ROMs)
* Original Alarm clock back (has more options) but can be replaced with Desk Clock through addon if DeskClock is preferred.
* Stock Filer app back as it can be good to have a simple file manager in place.
* Removed lots of lib connected to the iwnnime (japanese IME) that was removed erlier. (Size of system is now below 120Mb)
* Changed HH.MM time display to HH:MM in Danish, Norwegian and Finnish language files.
* Added more PPP options in kernel (for VPN).
* Circle battery indicator is no longer the default but can be added as an addon.
* Added Sebastians RA recovery (with CM colors) to the "image" install as it supports EXT4 and also the addons needs a recovery image.
* I'm sorry but it is NOT resigned with test keys as I promised it would be. I'm afraid resigning everything with testkeys can lead to problems when updates to "stock" apps like Gmail and Market arrives. This needs to be investigated further before testsigning the release.

I see that you are trying to integrate the honeycomb player, which would be cool, but... wouldn't that require some kind of 3D acceleration? (like the 3DGallery app, which is kinda slow on this phone)
(also, if we are talking about "honeycombing" the phone...some more honeycomb stuff that could get ported to 240*320)
honeycomb-style locksreen
honeycomb boot anim

Hi Bitye,
This ROM looks very promising, looks like you are integrating some great components, I will keep an eye on this and test once the screen issues and D-pad issues are resolved. In the mean time do you think you could put some screenshots or a video link up for us to have a look?
Cheers

[TASKER] tRUE - Tasker Recovery User interfacE - AUTODL CM7 NIGHTLY! | V2.1.2 - 8/16

Hi all -
NOTE: This project is on permanent hold until Tasker 1.1.2 is officially released. There are lots more features that will make it much easier both from a development end and a user end to use tRUE. I regret that I can't work on this now, but there are just too many Tasker limitations to work around that will be dealt with in Tasker 1.1.2. This will hopefully be by the end of the month, but may take into mid-October.
Furthermore, Koush has locked down writing commands to recovery starting with CWM5. If your ROM uses CWM5 for its recovery, it will not be compatible with tRUE.
Introduction
Welcome to tRUE - the Tasker Recovery User interfacE. The main goal of this Tasker profile scheme is to act as a replacement for most ROM Manager Premium features.
Why tRUE? How is it better than ROM Manager?
tRUE replicates ROM Manager functionality by writing commands to /cache/recovery/extendedcommand; these commands get executed upon reboot to recovery, just like ROM Manager. But there's lots more that tRUE can do!
Automatically download and install latest CM7 nightly for your device, at a time or context of your choice! GApps flashed automatically for free!
Bulk update-flash install - great to flash kernels, fixes, and more, along with your nightly!
One-touch and scheduled backup - Click a widget and immediately perform a Nandroid backup! Or, let it run automatically every night!
Free with Tasker - Tasker's the greatest $6 app out for Android, and it can replace lots of apps you typically pay for!
TO DO: Flash profiles: Flash any set of zips you want at any time!
TO DO: One-touch Nandroid restore of latest backup!
TO DO: Simple backup management - automatically delete old auto-backups!
I'm always listening for ideas as well, please contribute to the development of this project!
What's in the ZIP
The following Tasker profiles:
tRUE-nightlywget
tRUE-nightlyMD5
tRUE-nightlyinstall
tRUE-nightlycheck
tRUE-boot
The following Tasker tasks:
tRUE-AddNewZip
tRUE-boot
tRUE-cwm
tRUE-flash_nightly
tRUE-flash_user_zip
tRUE-nandroid
tRUE-NandroidWidget
tRUE-nightlycheck
tRUE-nightlyinstall
tRUE-nightlyMD5
tRUE-nightlywget
tRUE-restorenandroid
tRUE-RestoreWidget
tRUE-SETUP
tRUE-s_volts_scheduler
tRUE-UPGRADE
tRUE-wget_gapps
tRUE-wipe_cache
The folder "tRUE", which contains:
folder "download" - contains gapps-gb-20110729-signed.zip, and will contain your downloaded nightlies
folder "scripts" - contains checkupdate.sh, flashzip.sh, install_nightly.sh, nandroid.sh, wipe_cache.sh, get_CWM.sh, s_volts_scheduler.sh
Requirements
Tasker 1.1+, available on the Android Market or Tasker website
Secure Settings Plugin, available on the Android Market
For now, ROM Manager (free or premium) - I only need this for the directories it creates, I'll do it myself later
Coming from tRUE 2.1.1?
See this post; download the scripts folder and replace yours with this. It corrects some issues if you have a CWM that was both detected by ROM Manager and is not CWM2.x or 3.x.
Installation
Make sure you're already running a CM7-based ROM. tRUE does NOT wipe /data and perform the first-time-install instructions for your device; if you try to do so, you might brick!
In Tasker, click Menu->Preferences->Misc and check the box "Allow External Access". This allows Tasker to pass arguments to the shell scripts run by Secure Settings Plugin.
UPGRADING USERS: Delete all old tRUE profiles and tasks. (Sorry about the tedious installation! It'll be more streamlined in the future.)
Download the attached ZIP. Place the tRUE folder in the root your SD Card. (UPGRADING USERS: it will suffice to replace the scripts folder with the one from the zip.) Place *.tsk.xml in /sdcard/Tasker/tasks . Place *.prf.xml in /sdcard/Tasker/profiles.
Open Tasker, hit the Menu Button->Profile Data->"Import One Task". Import the 19 tasks. (WOW THAT'S ALOT! It's what you get with awesome functionality )
Repeat previous step, but with profiles. Import the 5 profiles.
Exit Tasker by hitting the check-mark. This will save the profiles and tasks.
NEW USERS: Re-enter Tasker, the click Tasks and select "tRUE-SETUP". Click the play button.
UPGRADING USERS: Re-enter Tasker, then click Tasks and select "tRUE-UPGRADE". Click the play button.
Download the GApps package below and place in /sdcard/tRUE/download. Or, run the task "tRUE-wget_gapps"
Edit the "tRUE-nightlycheck" profile to suit your needs - currently it'll fire every day at 4am, if your device is powered.
Setup will try to automatically detect your device's CM7 codename; if it can't, enter the codename (i.e., cdma_droid2, vibrantmtd, glacier, etc)
Create the tRUE widgets - on your home screen, long-press, then click "Widgets"->Tasker->Tasks->tRUE.
Usage
When a new nightly is available, tRUE will automatically wget the zip and leave it in /sdcard/tRUE/download . You can skip this process if you download the zip yourself and place it in that folder. It then performs an MD5 check; if the check succeeds, it writes commands to /cache/recovery/extendedcommand to perform a Nandroid backup; wipe your cache and dalvik-cache; flash the nightly; flash the GApps package; and flash any zip you provide. See below.
Use tRUE-AddNewZip to add update-flashables to your nightly installation. I install Glitch Kernel and my own Software GPS Fix for my Vibrant. tRUE looks at /sdcard/tRUE/toflash.txt and installs zips in order. You can either use tRUE-AddNewZip or manually edit this file.
Limitations and Bugs
Currently tRUE-nightlywget is kind of slow - I tried to provide download percentage so you don't patiently wait wondering how long the download will take, but this seems to actually slow down wget, and sometimes wget actually quits out. I can't replicate this all the time.. I might have to just remove the download percentage indicator. Sorry!
AFAIK, all variants of CM7 run on ClockworkMod3+; I only provide commands to use CWM3+. If you're running CM7 and are on CWM2 or below, please let me know ASAP so I can include functionality.
It seems that if you abort a script via the Secure Settings plugin notification (it fires when I use a script), no more scripts will fire until after a reboot. I am working with the developer of the plugin to see if it's a true bug or an issue between keyboard and chair.
Right now, tRUE-nightlycheck will run the entire download and install process even if it couldn't detect you were on CM7. If you're not running a CM7-based ROM, YOU MIGHT BRICK UPON TRYING TO USE tRUE. FOLLOW THE CM7 FIRST-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO USE tRUE.
To Do
Only enable vibration when user presses the tRUE-nightlycheck widget - this way the user can sleep soundly without his phone vibrating in the middle of the night
Manage deletion of old nightlies - maybe keep 2 or 3, but delete older ones?
Menu-driven interface to more ROM Manager-esque - one widget to access all functions, instead of many
Add "flash profiles" - allows you to quickly go from vanilla CM7 to MIUI to some other CM7-based ROM, while flashing all your extras for you
Add one-touch Nandroid restore widget
on setup, create clockworkmod folders (to store backups) if it doesn't already exist
Add profile to perform automatic Nandroid backups
If I helped improve your CM7 experience, PLEASE hit the Thanks button! Or even better, donate This has been a really fun project for me and I hope my work helps you too!

- if S_volts_scheduler detected, save it before flashing a nightly and restore upon boot
- notifications after boot if you just flashed, backed up, or restored
- support for CWM 2.x
- bug fix - /cache/recovery/extendedcommand not always written - fixed by mounting /system before writing (via scripts)
- bug fix - adding zip to flash profile didn't use full pathname; now also makes sure that the file the user selected actually exists (wtf?)
V2:
-initial release of tRUE - a complete rewrite of AutoCM7 with
loads more features and robustness!

COMING IN NEXT VERSION
I'm going to start using SL4A to do the heavy lifting. Writing for Tasker is exhausting and difficult. No new features will be added until V3, when everything will be written with Perl/bash; Tasker will be used only to support the Perl scripts. This gives me the ability to really use UI (show download progress, list cool menus, etc), and improve my own sanity! I get to write in a real programming language!
V2.1.x will contain bugfixes as reported by the community.
bug fix: S_volts_scheduler not restored correctly on new flash still - workaround in progress
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why is the install process so tedious?
A: Tasker was designed to be very extensible, but wasn't designed to be able to run what some might call an app. There is discussion to implement mass-import of tasks and profiles in future versions of Tasker.

Q: JESUS CHRIST, 24 DIFFERENT THINGS TO IMPORT!?
A: See above. You're getting what's essentially a ROM Manager Premium replacement for free! If you wanted easy-to-use with no freedom to customize, go buy an iPhone

Q: Why do I need Secure Settings plugin? Why didn't you use Locale Execute plugin?
A: With Locale Execute Plugin, running commands as root requires granting permission to every single command that uses it. People got around that by writing all possibly needed commands into a single shell script, then used Tasker to pass arguments back and forth. SSP in the end makes the install process easier for the user. It also lets me look at exit codes and capture STDERR and STDOUT - both tasks are much more difficult than necessary using Locale Execute.

Q: Why are the icons so ugly!? Couldn't you pick better ones?
A: I could have - but that requires that users have Tasker icon packs installed, and in the end icon packs are just for aesthetics - I don't think making it a requirement to install more stuff before you get to play with tRUE just to make icons look pretty is worth it. You're free to change the icons, though!

Q: Why should I use tRUE instead of ROM Manager Pro!? It seems like a lot of work (both for me to install and you to develop) to replicate a well-known app.
A: Tasker is AWESOME is why. It's $6.50 on the Market (or $5 if you buy it directly from the developer), and that's the best 6.50 you could possibly spend. I replicate so many app functionalities with it, it probably saved me a good $15 in the long run. Contrast to RMP, which is $6 and only manages your ROMs. Not that that's a bad thing! A lot of apps are out there that let you control basic stuff on your phone - but Tasker can replicate the functionality of a LOT of apps out there. This started mostly as an exercise to see how far I could push Tasker.

Q: YOU'RE SO AWESOME, PLEASE HAVE MY BABIES!
A: I appreciate the gesture Really all I need from you is to push the Thanks button and post with your experience, questions, comments, bug reports, etc. If you're feeling REALLY generous, hit the donate button I do this in my spare time because it's fun and I love Tasker. I don't expect anything in return for me sharing the work that I would have done anyway.

Updated to v1.1. Found a bug where the device name was not being passed correctly to the shell script; also turned on Secure Settings notifications for debug purposes. Please re-download and try it out if you've had problems with V1.
update to v1.2, fixed bug where gapps package was accidentally deleted after new nightly found
Many thanks, this sounds awesome, will give it a go, though I have already purchased the rommanager premium (just for nightlies actually).
Looking forward to seeing more advanced useful profiles, I'm loving tasker as well.
This is pretty neat, I'm testing it on my Droid X right now.
I don't suppose there's any way to implement some sort of progress bar for the download? It's basically a wait-and-find-out process right now.

Care to elaborate please? I'm stuck at point 7 What profile should I create and how. Thanks! Looking forward to testing this.

I can't do a progress bar, but I think I can do a toast notification of how much of the file was currently downloaded..
I plan on doing a rewrite with more robust options and capabilities, but it's kind of on the backburner for right now..
Let me know if you run into errors, please! I'm kind of surprised more people aren't using this setup..

In Tasker, just hit the Plus sign on the bottom to start a new profile. Then select the first context you want the download check to fire. Like I said, I have mine set to fire at 4am every day. Then, set CM7_AutoInstall as the task to perform. Finally, long-press the first context once the profile is created to add more. I only want to have downloads happen when I'm power is connected.
Thanks, I guessed that was the way, but just wanted to be sure. Now looking forward to seeing CM7 build 16 today or tomorrow to test this. Will post my results. Many thanks again, nice work.
Another question, does it flash it directly over the existing build, or could you think of something to wipe cache before? I always wipe cache and dalvik as instructed in Q&A in CM thread.

Ok, my first report.
First, as a new build was released I tried to test the task directly, but after some minutes, I cancelled the script. Then, I browsed to the CM7 folder and I saw the build 9 downloaded there (I am on 15, and the new one was 16).
I thought it was because I cancelled the script, so I deleted the zip there, and placed instead my actual build i.e 15.
Re-ran the task again, all good, it d\l and flashed the rom on my phone, but instead of having build 16 on my phone, it was the build 9, (from 30/07).
So there must be a bug, I assume.
Just wanted to let you know, hope you'll fix it as I'd love to use it.
Sorry for my English

Im on Samsung Galaxy S2.
Nice catch. I just looked at the mirror page for your device.. Since 9 is a single digit, it's the last link on the page. I assumed that the last link is always the latest mirror.
If you try again tomorrow or the next day it should work, since eventually Build 9 will be removed from the page. I'll try to work on this this week (along with the rewrites).

The last couple times I tried the script, it will start the download and pop up with "Download completed with errors" a few minutes later (not long enough to actually finish the download) and then reboot and try to install the failed package. CWM fails the hash check and reboots normally.

Thanks for the catch. I check the MD5 before I reboot into download mode, and it's supposed to error out if the check fails.
All, I will try to have V2 released this weekend. Life's a bit hectic right now and frankly there wasn't a whole lot of interest in this project from the community before, so nobody tested for me all this stuff.. thanks for the help!
I find it very interesting, so I will gladly help if possible. Thanks again.

I would hope not.
One suggestion: I use Rom Manager Janitor to clean up old backups on boot so I only have ~3 or so, but it specifically looks for the naming system that Rom Manager uses so it doesn't delete manual backups. Could you use the same naming convention or do you just pass the "backup" command to CWM and let it do its own thing?
Otherwise, I'd rather stick with RM's backup and just have this script flash the nightly.
The notifications that SecureSettings throws up (not the ongoing, but the one-off errors and such) don't activate the Clear button in the dropdown window so I have to click it to clear them. It's probably an issue with SecureSettings but I thought I'd let you know.
Finally, I have two gapps zips in the AutoCM7 folder. 20110613 and 201106130. Can I delete one?
Update on my issue: I'm going to try and get a screenshot of the error message that the download spits out. It shows the download hit 100% but the file size keeps increasing until ~102mb, then the md5 check fails. Manually downloading (i.e. via rom manager) works fine.
Screenshots:
http://i.imgur.com/Ix4jo.png
http://i.imgur.com/0BPBJ.png
http://i.imgur.com/a8Vn9.png
As you can see, the download hits 100% about halfway through the actual filesize. The MD5 of the downloaded file actually matches the md5 on the nightly site, but it says the md5 fails. Manually selecting the zip with Rom Manager works just fine.

[ROM] MTK6573 / Hero H7300 / HD7 Clone / T9299 Cooked ROM

Hi there
I have been reading these forums for some time and have finally created my own cooked ROM for these MT6573 / MTK6573 based Chinese Androids that I wanted to share since there doesn't seem to be any here.
This ROM was created from a stock system ROM off a Hero H7300 which I believe should work on all HD7 or T9299 clones.
The ID for the base ROM is 10HX2P.H7300.111125.AD2_3_4_V1.WVGAC_EN.COM_V01_3G.
I don't like to customise things too much (since everyone has their own preferences) so I have just done most of the basics.

v5 is based off a newer 2.3.5 ROM provided and modified by Bruno Martin.
Here is a list of what I have done to this ROM:

GPS Region Change
If you are in a different region (most probably are ) you can go to this thread to download a gps.conf for your area:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953630
Dowload the file you need and then replace it under /system/etc/gps.conf
Having the correct file here makes a huge improvement in the speed of GPS fixes.
ROM v9 Camera Button Fix
In ROM v9 I fixed the camera button to open to camera instead of the phone interface.... Or so I thought.
Unfortunately I missed a file that was overriding the change.
To set the camera button back to camera functionality perform the following steps.
Right click the following link and choose Save As to save it to your computer:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/37057/Camera/mt6573-kpd.kl
You can either copy this on to your phone and into the folder /system/usr/keylayout by using root explorer and setting the permissions correctly or use the following adb commands to copy it in via USB:
Code:
adb root
adb remount
adb shell cp /system/usr/keylayout/mt6573-kpd.kl /system/usr/keylayout/mt6573-kpd.bak
adb push mt6573-kpd.kl /system/usr/keylayout/mt6573-kpd.kl
You then need to restart your phone for the change to take affect.
Be aware that the camera functionality is activated by a long press of the camera button.
Reversed BACK and MENU buttons
If you have a phone where the BACK and MENU buttons operate around the wrong way then follow these instructions to switch them around.
Right click the following link and choose Save As to save it to your computer:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/37057/qwerty.kl
You can either copy this on to your phone and into the folder /system/usr/keylayout by using root explorer and setting the permissions correctly or use the following adb commands to copy it in via USB:
Code:
adb root
adb remount
adb shell cp /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.bak
adb push qwerty.kl /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl
You then need to restart your phone for the change to take affect.
Go Launcher and Go Locker
I have installed these two apps since they are my favourite ones and are very customisable and skinnable.
They are installed on the data folder so feel free to replace them with your own preferred launcher/locker.
Just remember not to move the launcher or locker themes to your SD card as they may not work properly after reboot. (especially locker themes)
Build.prop Settings
Currently these are the custom settings I have added to the build.prop
Feel free to alter these yourself to how you prefer by editing /system/build.prop file.
Code:
# fix some app problems
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
#enable hardware acceleration
debug.sf.hw=1
#increase dalvik cache
dalvik.vm.heapsize=48m
#Saving jpg at 100% quality

Hero H7300 (HD7/T9299) Cooked ROM by Bunta v9
Installation Guide
DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER WITH THESE PHONES AS IT IS INCOMPATIBLE
1) Download my ROM rename it to update.zip and copy it on to your sdcard under /mnt/sdcard/update.zip
2) Next you will need to install a custom recovery partition to be able to install custom ROMs.
Bruno Martins has provided an excellent guide for flashing these phones which you can follow here:
http://bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.com/2011/10/mt65x3-flashing-tutorial.html
He also has his own Custom Recovery Image and ROMs he has developed with custom frameworks you can download from here:
http://www.eten-users.eu/index.php?/topic/21447-hd7-mt6573-support-thread/
Download the recovery image and then follow his flashing tutorial to install that to your phone.
3) Once you have the recovery image installed reboot your phone into recovery mode by holding down the volume up + power key to turn the phone on.
This will then boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
4) First thing you want to do here is to go into backup and restore and create a backup of your phone that you can restore back to if you don't like my ROM.
5) Once you have a backup you can follow this guide to install the custom ROM.
6) After you install the ROM and restart your phone don't be scared if it sits on a black screen or the boot animation for some time as it's just rebuilding the dalvik cache.
This should take about 5-10 mins on first boot.
(I got nervous my ROM didn't work the first time I booted it )
7) [optional] Update your gps.conf for your local region using the instructions above.
8) [optional] If using ROM v6 or later you can increase your internal memory size by moving the data partition to an ext2 partition on your memory card. This can be done by following these instructions.
Old Versions:

You need to install a custom recovery partition to flash these phones successfully.
I have added installation details in the first post along with a link to download a custom recovery partition.
I've also updated my ROM with some new apps so you may want to download again.
Hi there,
Thanks for the post and sharing what you have done.
I've just recently got myself a Chinese Star A3 Android phone which uses the MTK6573 chipset.
Since I've had it I've had to learn a few things... e.g. Rooting phone, removing unwanted Chinese Apps with Titanium Backup, sourcing and installing recovery and general tinkering.
I'm curious to try your ROM however I'm reasonably happy with my current setup (also using GO Launcher) except for one thing; the in-built contacts/dialer/call log application and the way it forces the hyphens in the contact numbers.
I've spent hours trawling websites for a fix but can't see a solution.
Some suggest prefixing country codes to your numbers, changing the locale to UK via an App such as MoreLocale 2, I've even bought the Unhyphenizer app with no luck.
My Google contacts have no hyphens or spaces in the contact numbers however when viewed on the phone they appear as +64 21-111-1111 (mobile) or +64 3-111-1111 (landline).
The issue also affects the call log with outgoing calls displaying name of contact and number with hyphens but incoming calls are displayed differently. E.g. +64 3-111-1111 appears as 31111111 therefore is not matched with any contact.
I've isolated the issue to the actual contacts application because if I install GO Contacts the numbers appear exactly as in Google in both the contacts and call log areas. Go SMS also shows contacts numbers correctly. This isn't a great solution though as I don't particularly like the GO Contacts app.
Does your ROM manifest the same issue? Any ideas how to get around this or alter the existing contacts app to show number without formatting/hyphens?
Thanks in advance
My contacts also show with hyphens.
Most of them do not have country code however so are just 021-123-4567 but the ones with country codes are shown as you say.
I suspect if this issue is gone with GO Contacts then the way they are displayed may be written into the app and unchangeable. Unless there is some system file that sets a configuration for it that may be altered.
I can have a look through the system files in my ROM build to see if something matches. Possibly even editing the Contacts apk directly might be of use... I will have a look around...
Thanks for the reply.
Like you say, perhaps their is a configuration file that can be altered as a large number of people in forums report the issue goes away when they change their locale to UK. Sadly, it makes no difference on my phone.
I look forward to hearing what you find.
Cheers
Hi there, yes I have only downloaded the one 'paid for' app (Unhyphenizer Pro) from the Andoid Market and that worked fine.
All the others I've downloaded have been free apps.
Thanks

The ROM that bunta shared probably has the Market problem... that's why he added Black Market app (Blackmart).
If you have one MT6573 based HD7 Pro, you can visit my support thread. I have released the ROM with Market problem fixed.

I honestly don't know if that bug exists or not as I don't have any paid apps to try it with.
If you try it and find out please let me know if it works or not.
(and no, thats not why I added blackmart)

I set the locale to GB in the build.prop on my ROM so should be using UK locale by default I think and it still shows with hyphens. Not sure if changing that setting in the build.prop gives the same effect as when they set it in their settings though.
One other note, I think I corrupted the apns-conf on my v2 ROM as my data connection did not work with that version. Its working fine in my v1 ROM but I don't know what the multiupload download link is for that one
I will fix that up and make a v3 ROM soon.
Let me know if 3G data is working or not on v2 if you try it.
Still tinkering at the moment. Don't want to swap one problem for another
One thing I found that is worth mentioning is that one of my SIM's is Vodafone the other 2Degrees.
When I called the 2Degrees SIM the leading zero is missing... if I call the Vodafone number the leading zero appears when calling from the same landline. Doesn't explain the hyphens but perhaps some of the number handling is the carrier?
WOW Great !
Thanks man !
I've fixed the problem with the apns-conf.xml file now and mobile data is working fine again.
V3 is in the first post
Thank you for your effort.
However, I tried to my MTK6573 machine and found a funny thing:
My machine has 3 buttons
Home works
Menu has no function
Back becomes "Menu"
Any help for me?
Beside of this problem, I tried few minutes and I think it is much better then the ROM I am using. Just it causes trouble for me if no "Back" button

That is because his phone is H7300 which seems to be different than Tops HD7 3G or HD7 Pro. Visit my support thread and you'll find the correct ROM for your phone.

Yeah, which you haven't done to get the password... and to rip my ideas and create your custom ROMs.
Can you explain me why you have added TeslaLED.CM7.Receiver into your ROM? You don't even know what is the purpose of that app...
I just added it as a part of TeslaLED.
I don't really need it of course since I haven't configured any system apps to toggle the flashlight directly from TeslaLED but it can be uninstalled by anyone.
(In fact it's not really too useful in my ROM anyway so I will remove it from future versions. People can install their own favourite flashlight apps as they want.)
Stop being a baby because someone else has made their own ROM.

Thank you for your information.
I am using a phone called ChangJiang HD7 or THL-S2 - I want to provide a product link but is prevented here, but you may search "THL-S2" via google.
(PS: It is called HD7 too but it should not the one you mean, but very similar)
I tried your ROM (V1) on my phone. Basically it works, just the menu button and the back button are swapped
However, for me it is "overcooked" and the response is not good as bunta's one. I may consider "cook" mine.

I have stated in my previous post. My tests just means different MTK6573 machines have slightly differences.
Anyway I am appriecate with the efforts from both of you.

[ROM][S3] BackToBasics_v3 (based on RUU_VILLEC2_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.11.401.110)

So here we go I can say finally I managed to produce firs custom rom for our beloved HTC One S C2 (I called it this way cause that is how on gsmarena.net is presented). If we ever get a sub forum this is how I suggest it is called. It is not very special rom, but it is a start. cause I don't like bloatware on my phone, I've tried to remove as many unnecessary stuff as I could remember, and I could miss.
Since this is my very first rom I've build with kitchen (for public use at least), don't be to harsh on me. I will try to improve it, and remove even more sens components, cause I just prefer stock experience.
You will need android sdk on you computer (you may know it as adb shell)
REQUIREMENTS
Unlocked Bootloader and Root access
TWRP Recovery
INSTALLATION
1. Download the ROM, extract only boot.img where you have android-sdk installed installed in folder platform-tools
2. Make a backup of your apps with Titanium backup or other similar app (so that you can restore them after flashing my rom)
3. Boot into Recovery (with GooManager, or restart phone and hold volume down, when in fastboot choose recovery with volume down and press power button)
4. Make a BACKUP in recovery!
5. WIPE! Do a factory reset and System wipe
6. "install zip from sdcard"
7. "choose zip from sdcard"
8. Flash the ROM
9. Go back to the main menu of recovery, choos reboot, and then reboot to bootloader.
10. Flash kernel with Command prompt (go into direcotry where you have extracted boot.img) and run:
(step by step guide)
Short version:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
11. Wait until android boots up, it will take a few mintues (5-10), because it is deodexed, but only first boot takes longer after that it is normal.
What is working:
Since this is sense based rom all the functionality should work (calling, texting, mobile data, GPS, wifi, bluetooth, camera, etc)
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:
- There might be some reports of some services stop executing, this is nothing to worry about, it would just be something that I have removed cause it is only sens based and drains battery, but it should impact with phone experience.
- Due to all HTC widgets removal, not all the lockscreen options are functional (like people).
FUTURE:
I hope I'll have time and the will to make this rom to look and feel almost as an AOSP based (that is with statusbar, lockscreen, dialer, settings, etc). But I am still learning so don't expect to much. If there is themer among you or modder, I would really apperaciate some help with this stuff. Together we can make this something ! I would also need some mirror if this rom will become popular.
WARRINING:
This rom is for HTC One S with S3 processor only!!!
Flashing any kind of custom rom voids your warranty, and it could brick your phone. I am not responsible if this happens to you. So you flash this software completely at your own risk!
That being said here is the download link.
BackToBasics_v1
BackToBasics_v2:
(you have to downloade both rar files in sam folder and then extract from .part1, it will extract flashable .zip)
PART 1
PART 2
BackToBasics_V3
If you are coming from lower version of this rom, just make backup, wipe cache, flash rom and you are good to go. No need to factory reset (data wipe) or system wipe in this case

Is this mode available for One S? This would be first thing I would like to change for sure :good:
There is some info HERE
Try this WIFI fix and report if it works. I am gonna test soon. And if it does I will include it in next version.

I can include this, but I will read a little more, to see if it is worth it.
EDIT: Good news I've solved WIFI and root problems. Will upload new build tommorow, cause I most probably I won't have enaught time today.
New version is up!
I suggest you to change thread caption to v2, and to move up changelog for v2.
