[ROM]CM9 Unofficial Nightlies - HTC One S

Due to the excellent work being done on getting CM9 running smoothly on the One S, I have started to build nightlies. To avoid confusion with the release builds from xkonni I figured I would just create this thread to provide support for the nightlies.
I have the urge to live on the bleeding edge. Hence why I want nightlies. Hoping I'm not the only one and that these might be tempting for others as well.
Disclaimer
I take no responsibility for this. The nightly builds I try might work fine on my device, but not on yours. I am more than willing to help anyone who runs into troubles, but please, unless you absolutely want to run nightlies, I recommend running the more stable builds.
Download
Download links for the nightlies are available here (Updated)
Enjoy!

Man to know that there's so many options for the One S makes me feel good! Sense, CM9 and MIUI!

Yep, and we haven't even got the kernel sources yet, so I think we have great things ahead.
The One S is the fastest Android device out there (except maybe for the SIII) and deserves a lot of attention

Keep up the great job!

If you are coming from Sense you should flash the boot.img. If you are coming from a previous CM (IE: updating to new nightly), you should not. It won't hurt, but not needed.

boot.img should be flashed. Put the file in the same location as your fastboot, adb, etc... and type:
Code:
flash boot boot.img
It is good practice to 'fastboot devices' to make sure everything is working good first After doing the above, you can go to recovery, wipe, flash, etc...

Yep, thats about it. Just keep in mind that you dont have to wipe anything (except maybe the cache to be absolutely safe) when upgrading from one nightly to another. So once you're in, feel free to flash as many new nightlies as you feel like.

If I'm on MIUI I shouldn't have to flash the boot.img right? MIUI is using CM as a base, so it shouldn't make that big of a difference.

Using CWM to write kernels.

So I found this in the updater script for this CM9 port for the EVO 4G LTE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683384
"package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p21");"
looks like we can stop using fastboot to write kernels? Or is this something we already knew?
PS: fiddling with this CM9 port, I can get it to boot up to the CM9 bootanimation on my HOX, then it gets stuck. Just needed to change the partition it was writing /system to and change the asserts in the updater script...
I would love a CM9 port I cant stand these Sense ROMS.
would LOVE LOVE LOVE MIUI on the HOX!!! but CM9 would be good too

Yeah I know. Although theoretically if it's working(ish) for them, it shouldn't be too difficult to port. I'm no dev, but their build. prop has the same msm898 (or whatever it is) board as ours and the hardware is pretty much identical from my understanding.

[ATTENTION] DON'T INSTALL CMW Recovery INSTEAD USE TWRP

Don't install CMW Recovery it is not recommended for AT&T, Rogers HTC One X
"CWM does not officially support our device, and its just a port. Due to this, CWM has some serious and known problems. As already mentioned, USB mount doesn't work. Also, it has been known in some cases to cause some major issues with dialer and other phone functionality after flashing a ROM. Problems that persist even if you try flashing another ROM or restoring a backup. These problems are difficult (although not impossible) to fix, and a big headache.
TWRP officially supports our device, gets regular updates. Its fully working, and its recommended by almost all (if not all) our developers." (Thanks to redpoint73)

Simply no reason to use CWM. People only use it, because they have used it on other devices.
Just stay away from CWM. Use TWRP.

It will work most of the time. But when it doesn't, boy you are in for some "fun" times.
Just switch to TWRP. Its a great recovery, don't be averse to it, just because its different than what you used before. In this case, the more widely known choice (CWM) is not the best one, and can give you serious problems.
Yeah.... I didn't know CWM wouldn't work on my HTC One X. I installed TWRP and everything worked fine. Since I had CWM installed, it won't affect my phone will it since I installed TWRP over it?

Its not that CWM doesn't work, per se. CWM works most of the time . . . except when it doesn't (and causes big problems).
CWM is not going to affect your phone in any way, now that you've installed TWRP. Recovery was overwritten by TWRP.

can we use CWM to restore this backup???
Made the zip. I'm going to sleep as it uploads. Link will be up in the morning (New York time). Good night!
If this is a flashable zip, will it really be the same as converting to a Google edition? Wouldn't we need something to flash from Odin or something else to get that effect? I'm looking to completely convert over. I thought flashable zips were just ROMs, and they didn't alter the phone like images you flash with Odin do.
For example, right now we have an HTC splash screen, and all that. I know that the HTC One Google Edition devices boot up and instead of saying HTC, they say Google just like a Nexus device. What we have now just shows HTC then it shows the Google bootloader which comes with the ROM obviously, but what do we need that will alter some of the earlier parts of the boot process before any ROM kicks in?
But yea, not to ask a noob question, is this what I am looking for, or will I have to wait a little while longer for a complete Odin flashable image to become available?

Odin is a Samsung tool not for HTC. Flashing a ZIP/ROM is doing what Odin did without the name

Yes it's possible to convert your HTC one into a Google Play Edition by changing the ModelID of the device and flashing the stock ROM. If you wish, I can write up a guide on how to do that later. You'll need S-OFF

Okay, so I googled what I needed to know. I found out what S-OFF was...I thought after unlocking the boot loader and rooting, you were as good as gold, hah. So I looked online, figured out how to get S-OFF, and I did it with revone and adb.
I did find this tutorial on changing the HTC One model ID, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322820 but I think it could be simplified honestly lol, it has way too many big pictures and just too much going on. It doesn't really explain the numbers they are changing it to, but what numbers to use and where to put them. I think me alongside others would appreciate a guide showing how to change the model ID, and what the model ID is for the Google Edition.
Thank you in advance

Features
100% Stock
Rooted / Powered by SuperSU by @Chainfire!

FSTRIM on install
Notes:
Should update bootloader. It is attached as a ZIP file but is not flashable! You need to fastboot flash it. For those in windows I have batch file in there along with ADB and fastboot.
First boot is a loooooooooooong time! About 5 to 7 minutes!
You must be on Latest TWRP to enjoy this ROM. No other recoveries supported however they may work.
Troubleshooting
If you get no status bar reboot to recovery and clear all cache. If that doesnt work try flashing the factory image then flash TWRP again and then this ROM.
Getting Symlinks failed during install? Make sure /system is unchecked in TWRP mounts

+1 please. I am too stupid to make such a file
Guys, do I need to flash ROM again if I update the bootloader? Will my data be wiped?

No. No, if nexus is unlocked.
Recently updated bootloader to 04-05 ("fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-flo-flo-04.05.img") still staying on 4.4.4 KTU84P, waiting for 5.1.1+Xposed.

I'm transitioning careers, buying a new home, and moving across multiple states... So, I wouldn't count on it right now.
On the positive side. This gives everyone the motivation to learn how to use fastboot... A knowledge that should precede flashing ROMs anyways.

Thats impressive. I am going in for major surgery on Monday! This may be my last post for a while!
Could someone tell me how I can flash that new bootloader without a PC? Sorry for being a pest lol

Would I have to do anything special if I already have the paid version of Stericson's busybox installed?
Thanks so much Scott for making these ROMs and good luck on your surgery!
