So we have NFC and it is enabled. I know it is AT&T blocking us from using Google wallet but technically it should work hardware wise. What I am wondering is if there is a way to make it work...I keep going back to when google blocked the Google videos app on rooted phones, but with a little modification to the apk we were able to unblock it and use that app. Is there any way that we could do something like that for Google wallet then just side load the modified apk?

I believe it's possible but devs haven't seemed to do much with it yet.

I tried it but it's not working for the at&t one x. Maybe they will patch it soon.

Well I'm gonna take a look at it in winblows. If that doesn't work I'll have to get my linux box up and running again. My goal for the day is to use google wallet at Jamba Juice tonight. If I get anything going I'll post it in the dev section.

There's been multiple threads on Google Wallet, all of them say this doesn't work. If you even read through the link you just posted, I even posted in that thread saying it doesn't work on the AT&T One X.

I removed it too. It drained my battery once and isn't used outside the US and Canada anyway so it's pretty useless for many among us, for now.
@OP, there is a flashable zip to uninstall the wallet, I've used it numerous times and it has always worked, in attachment.

Any idea if they're just waiting until Sunday to give it the ability to be used?

its disabled due to carrier restrictions?
Word is GW is disabled on the AT&T HOX because AT&T is invested in another payment platform, Isis.

Yet they're enabling GW on other devices. I understand that Isis will be out later. But it doesn't make sense for other devices to be able to use it

I'm not aware any other AT&T devices support GW. NFC hardware was totally disabled on GS2/GS2 Skyrocket/GNote. And the upcoming ICS firmware will enable NFC on those phones but not GW.

Agreed. I would love it if the HOX was supported, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

This.
Just because at&t decided to use something else shouldn't restrict me from a service that's already available. There's been no word on Isis.

The skyrocket has been able to use it. Also the Nexus devices.
Fcc needs to step up and slap carries with fines for not allowing Ann open market. For the same reason Microsoft had to suggest other browsers. Fair play.

AFAIK, Sprint (and tmobile now?) are the only carriers that allow Google wallet.
I was really excited for a second because I was able to install Google Wallet on my phone. But then i quickly was let down when I launched the app and wouldn't let me use it

When the skyrocket got the ICS leak I heard reports of it working. Haven't looked into it since.
Also I'm talking about the unlocked nexus
I have the skyrocket and while it has working nfc it doesn't have the secure element necessary for Google wallet.

The point of this thread is that AT&T won't allow any of its phones to use GW. So, I don't see how an unlocked (or not as there is never an AT&T locked Nexus) Nexus has anything to do with it.
I have an international galaxy nexus, and use my google wallet all the time at Pete's and Jamba Juice.
Can't we just edit the build prop to change the carrier info/location?
is the Rogers One X able to use Google Wallet? If so, that would mean a custom ROM would grant us that ability...?
Hey guys,
I used to be able to bill my att account directly when I bought apps on my atrix, but ever since upgrading to the One X, I'm unable to do so anymore.
Calling tech support got me nowhere, they had no idea how to fix it.
Is anyone else having this issue? How'd you fix it?
Thanks!

Direct Carrier Billing
I was wondering if anyone who was previously unable to purchase apps with direct carrier billing are now able to and if they can share what they did. I have an AT&T HTC One X and I also don't see the ability to purchase apps with direct carrier billing. I have read in a few different forums that users with AT&T/Rogers version of the HTC One X are having similar problems but users of the international edition might not have the same problem.
I have carrier unlocked my phone and would really like to use the remaining $60 in my T-Mobile prepaid account to purchase apps instead of it going to waste, and direct carrier billing seems to be my only option. Thanks ahead of time.
---------- Post added at 10:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 PM ----------
By going into App management and force-stopping Google Play and then uninstalling the updates, I was able to access the AT&T bill to carrier option when purchasing an app. I am still trying to get this to work with T-Mobile but I might need to switch plans or buy a day's access to mobile data for it to work.
Does anyone have any experience purchasing apps with carrier billing using a T-Mobile prepaid account?
Just tried that, carrier billing still doesn't show up for me, unfortunately.

When I called them, they said it was a device-specific feature and it wasn't supported on the HOX. Maybe they have a random answer generator!

This is utter horse ****.
My first One X was able to do direct billing (and I've confirmed this with a purchase of Titanium Backup Pro in my Google Wallet, which states: May 10
Titanium Track charged your AT&T Mobility USA *number deleted* for $6.58. "GOOGLE *Titanium Track" will appear on your billing statement.") Then my dog decided to knock my phone out of my hand, so I got a replacement.
My new One X will NOT let me bill att. This is some shifty, sideway, backwards, secret-handshaking BS.
I'm on 1.85 with GP version 3.7.13... I'm betting it has something to do with the 1.85 update.
I found this over in the int. one x forums. it's a hacked google wallet apk. I tryed it, does install. have not tryed to buy anything yet...
I take no credit for this, just sharing link.

It won't work. The AT&T version stores NFC secure element keys differently than the International versions. I think it is in two separate files for ISIS

bummer, got to love having this useless device (nfc) in my phone, Google made an easy way to use it and AT&T blocks it for a product that probably won't be out until I am eligible for another upgrade
