SOD - T-Mobile LG G2x

So I managed to fix my SOD while the phone was charging, by allowing it to stay awake. However, I still sometimes get SODs by leaving the phone in an idle state after a long while. How do I fix it in this scenerio?

I don't think there's a permanent solution for the SOD on the g2x. My phone used to black out when I ran an overclocked kernel. I would recommend that you test out different roms and kernels.

[Q] Resolve Sleep of Death

I have an MZ 601 (Asia/Europe Xoom 3G)
I've noticed that it SOD's (Sleep of Death) a lot.
This occurs on stock Rom 3.1
I've tried Tiamat, Launchpad Gemini.
None of the Custom Rom's fix this, and I have not yet been able to come up with steps to reproduce this error. At this Time it seems to be occurring randomly. When it does however it is very very annoying.
Sometimes I can fix it by holding the power button, the screen will suddenly turn on and ask me if Im sure that I want to power of the device.
Sometimes on that dialog if I hit cancel, the screen goes dark and it will appear that it is SOD again.
I know there are various reports on the forum of SODs happening and other people claiming that the Xoom is a GED device and hence does not have SOD issues.
But clearly looking at my device it is certainly prone to SOD issues.
What could I do to find the root cause of the problem?
Could it be a hardware issue? Or is it software?
Does anyone here have a definitive answer for this problem?
Install a stock kernel.

right on, And make sure you do not use an alternate launcher...
My Gtabs used to suffer from this a lot, some kernel where fixing the issue, and using only stock launcher where having the same effect...
As I mentioned in my post stock rom which has the stock kernel and stock launcher had SOD issues. Both 3.01 and 3.1.
At this time the launchpad Gemini 1.30 kernel reduces the occurrance of SOD a lot. As it happens a lot less now. But it still occurs.

I would suggest a factory reset if its still not resolved, take it to the service centre

[Issue] Phone Randomly Heats Up When Inactive

for some reason, my tmobile nexus s phone will randomly get real hot for an hours. i won't really be using it and although it's cm7 modded it's not overclocked. i used logging tester and i don't see anything running. any suggestions why this is? i'm scared in time this will shorten the life.
Try changing the kernel
Mines would do the same thing until I started playing with kernels..

Tried 2 diff. kernels and still having this issue randomly. Really worried.

Phone keeps turning off/freezing

Running .42 kernel on ICS ROM, keeps just going completely black when idle in my pocket and have to take the battery pack out to restart. I think it's the CPU Master settings...?

What are you running if anything for screen off profile.
This is called sod
Screen off death.
Some experience it on some kernels others don't

Correct you need to use a different kernel.

Tab won't power on (solved)

Yesterday I watched about an hours worth of Netflix, set the tab down and then approximately 6 hours later picked it up and it was turned off. Attempted to turn it on, no dice. So I plugged it up to charge but can not charge or power it up even with the cable plugged in.
Its 3 months old and obviously I can send it to Samsung for repairs but I would hate to do that if you guys have an idea how to fix it.
Anyone got any ideas?

Problem solved. Held the power button down for 15 seconds as suggested after a google search and it came back to life.
Strange how something so simple is the answer.

It's called a SoD, or Sleep of Death. It usually happens when using some sort of Deep Idle/processor idle kernel feature. If you're using stock ROM, it's probably just a kernel glitch and was most likely a random occurrence. If you're using a custom ROM/kernel, then turn off didle/deep idle!

Aries kernel port

So, I'm kind of curious about the sod issue that the current aries kernel port has. i know it means sleep of death but does that mean that sometimes it won't come back on from the lock screen and you have to do a battery pop? How long does it have to run before that happens or is it random as hell? I'm just curious as to is it impossible to use a rom with that kernel because of the issue.

And that's why there is no ROM with that kernel for use, other than the one release Brian did. No one is saying to use it for any sort of daily use whatsoever.

Yes. SOD you need to pull battery or possibly long press power button. And it happens when the phone sleeps.
Do you you if it's every 1st attempt to push the sleep button or does it happen after a period of time when it's sleeping?

It's kind of an interesting issue. It might be a SoD (sleep of death), it could be they cypress keyboard driver which controls the volume, power, and capacitive keys, it could be a regulator issue, it could be an issue with the pmic or battery drivers.
So many possibilities.
It happens everytime you push the power button on the phone to turn off the screen. My life is seriously complicated right now and every spare minute I have is spent on figuring out this issue, continuing to maintain the cm9 herring build, porting sk4g (sgh-t839) to teamacid's cm7, and looking into work on the at&t galaxy note (sgh-i717).
m4xm4n and jeffsf are also helping out on the sgs4g aries SoD issue, but it's a very complicated issue. We'll sort it out soon!
Thanks bro no rush I was just trying to get a better understanding of the sod problem and you answered it 100 percent.
