Signal bars really low - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

My signal jump between 1-3 bars constantly. It doesn't matter if I am inside or outside. I am orange county with LTE supported. Currently using 1.85 Cleanrom 2.1.
Any one know why? Thanks....

I do know lte drops off pretty sharply with some distance between you and the tower. From what I understand its not quite as stable as hsdpa.

I am even using the hspa Apn but signal still 1-3.

After ICS update Low Cell Strenght

I updated to ICS. Now I am finding that the cell strength is lower than it was. I was getting 4/5 bars, now 3/4. Some areas now I loose connection. The conversations are not as clear as they were. The other Sensation in the house still has the 4/5 bars inside. Any ideas on how to fix?
Thanks
This happen to me with my stock rom. Funny thing is as soon as I flashed my custom rom my problem was over! I suddenly began receiving H! The true 4g! I was soon happy! No more low cell signal!

If your a tmo customer, call and ask them about their signal booster. Its free and it goes in your home and boosts your signal!

Maybe it's simply more accurate with ICS.

Which ICS rom are you using?
I was using ARHD and it showed ~2 bars less than when I use InsertCoin. Useable reception was the same but voice calls under ARHD were being forwarded to voice mail when it was at 0 bars (but still able to make calls) and using data at the same time (yes, data was fine when it said 0).
ICS Version
I just installed the OTA version from T-mobile.

Don't forget that GB had 4 bars and ICS has 5 bars...

it will say 4G if you see speedtests of 4 mbits or better you have it.
Well if I go into setting it says spa as the signal type or something like that but I get the high in speed test and it does say 4g

When it says network type should it say hspa or hspa+ ??

It comes up hspa + on my phone. I'm with Orange

Fml... Maybe it's the sim card

.. this didn't seem right
Mine always says HSPA. I went up to Massachusetts for a couple of days and was getting 8 MB/s on speedtest and it still said HSPA.
The slow data is because of your VPN connection. Disconnect your VPN and the speeds will dramatically skyrocket

At&t maps not true

Now I'm really confused. Just got off the phone with at&t and the lady looked up the towers in my area and all she saw were 3g yet the coverage map shows hspa in my area .. etc
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Does the map in the tiny print say 18 month projection? Normally those maps are future Esq too. To about 18 months.

3g is hspa.

Well my area has spa+ at&t customer service sucks

Very weird LTE issue

I am using AT&T One X now, and I signed up a 4G LTE 2 year contract. However, my phone only gets to HSPA+ but not LTE. I've tried different ROMs, flashing radio, choosing the network type(changing into “LTE only” will only cause no signal), etc... None is working.
Any ideas? I live in Diamond Bar, which there are lots of hills and low mountains... Will the signal be a possible cause for the LTE fail?
LTE can be finnicky with signal, but what APN are you currently using?
Are you sure that your city has lte not every city has it yet.

This. It's the most obvious answer but it's probably it.
I live near diamond bar and I get LTE everywhere I go, granted I don't go there..

With the att ruu, the apn is locked and there is only one. So it is definitely the correct apn. With other roms, I tried all apns but none worked.

Since LTE runs on such a low frequency, if you are even a little outside of coverage area, on the fringe, or in low-lying areas, its very possible that you simply dont get LTE coverage. have you tested or witnessed any other LTE devices functioning in your area?

That is true, but you won't necessarily have LTE data unless you've called customer service and had them activate it for your plan.

Best radio for the Denver area.

Hey guys I'll be traveling to the Denver area for vacation. I live in the Houston area and get great reception. I was wondering what the best radio is for the Denver, Colorado area. Does Denver have LTE? Thanks guys

Denver does not have LTE yet but the hspa+ was plenty fast enough

no LTE and I've been getting good results on the 2.20 radio (0.19as.32.09.11_2_10.105.32.25L)
are you going to be just in Denver or traveling around? Some spots get better HSPA+ speeds than other but for the most part, no matter where you travel in the Denver metro you'll have good coverage and good speeds.
Yup, 2.20's radio works best for me. Although I still get bad signal in various areas that's like some black hole for cell signals. I'm thinking that's on ATT, not the phone/radio
I'll mostly be in Denver but also I will travel to Colorado Springs. I'll have to swap in the 2. 20 radios

After been spoiled with lte, I don't think I want hspa + again
