GT-i9003 - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hello guys,
A friend of mine has a gt-i9003 and he tasked me to root/ load a custom rom on it. so i want to know will any rom that is developed for Sl-i9003 work on it ? it's a 4gb version
Any help appreciated

MIUI V10.5 surely works well.

Thanks for the reply bro..tho my question is will any other custom fw work as well ? or is it hit and go ?

Yes, any GT-I9003 rom will surely work. Just make sure you read the requirements properly incase they say anything about phone memory and stuff because I obviously haven't read everything on every custom rom forum . I am sure the phone memory doesn't matter and most roms should install/work just fine .

don't install MIUI
even though its visually more clean and organized but its battery guzzler.
if you want to know how to install it i can guide you but my recommendation is not to do it. your battery will drain in 3-4 hours

I have flashed above ROM and it does work properly.. for i9003 4gb version...
it is still in early stage probably alpha and has couple of known issues like Bluetooth not working and battery drains quickly...
other than that all the basic stuffs are working fine... Google now is also functional..
I have been using this ROM since last 2 to 3 days and other than above 2 known issues I also feel UI is somewhat laggy on I9003...

[Q] Galaxy Ace GT-S5830D Koodo "network" problem cyanogen 7.1 kang

Hello... I am a new ( noob ) in THE XDA forum. So if I do a things that I'm not supposed to do, told it to me. ( I speak french so I will do my best I can )
Now the real things:
- I flash my GT-S5830"D" to cyanogen 7,1 ; 9, official, unofficial... What ever, with no * succes. (I dont now if the "D" is important)
The wifi always crash ( need to close and re-open it ), my ACE wont receive SMS or share it "sometimes" and the DEL brightness always change ( the screen become black and after it come like normal )
- I'm with Koodo ( TELUS ). I think that Koodo are the problem, because they make our Android OS and bla bla.
- If you cant help me for CyanogenMod, try to restore of my first OS.
-->I backup it with CWM 5, but it wont install it correctly. ( boot logo stay on the "Galaxy ACE bla bla..." )
Very big thanks.
P.S. if you help me and it work, I will work to help programing Galaxy ACE! I promise.
try restoring it via CWM recovery.. if no success try flashing via odin.. hope it helped

Yes I've try full or not with Odin and the firmwares install with no problem. It is when I open the phone problem start. I can rarely share a SMS or receive.
So I'm relly thinking that a need a special Koodo firmware or a developper who can create me a special firmware.
Okay,
First thing, CM7 will work with your Ace.
Second thing, you cannot use CWM to restore a backup of a stock ROM.
Third thing, check your APN settings. You are going to need to manually create a Sp.koodo.com APN with all the settings detailed inside.
Did you have any problems flashing?

Yes you cannot flash your stock ROM with CWM, flash it with odin instead.
About installing-uninstalling thing nope it will not break your motherboard and it has nothing to do with it
Just flash a different ROM via CWM 4 or 5. My favorite is the Myth, it's based on stock with a couple of nice performance mods. It works great on the Ace.
PS. Don't listen to Koodo, they don't know what they are talking about...

You may try flasing tj_droid Stocklite v6.. based on the latest firmware DDKQ8, Pure stock bareboned + Scripts - will definitely makes your phone smooth..
Try a new one
Well if u do wanna switch to cyananogen then why are u trying CM7.1??
Go for 7.2 and best try Miracle v4ROM on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583871
Just follow the simple instructions
Remember to adhere strictly to the instructions otherwise u can get into problem
After installing u will not see your messages..so in that thread some files like <All System Apps> are given..unzip them and put on ur SD..
then using any Root explorer paste those files (like mms.apk for messaging service) in /system/apps
Thats all...u will see a great ROM...extremely fast with ICS layouts..
Don't forget to hit THANKS if i helped..

Ok my problem seem to be resolved... On the internet I finally found a Koodo 2.3.4 galaxy ace firmware to flash with ODIN. So I flash it, but I reinstall CM 7.2.0 FAT KANG and it seem to work now!! But Cyanogen doesn't detect Koodo carrier, it just detect Rogers, Telus (Telus=Koodo) and an other like 3016...

To answer your question or anyone else's, you'll have to change the CSC to Telus/Koodo. But first make sure you're on a full-package DTLKI4 firmware
First, write down your IMEI that you find in About Phone > Status
Then go into your phone dialer and punch in *#272*your imei#
You'll have a list of CSC codes to choose from, and hopefully TLS/KDO will be on there.
Changing your csc WILL do a complete factory reset on your phone, so be prepared to do that.
Great thanks

hey you know your right ive read your comments and you have a point i am also searching for a solution to maximize the potenial of my phonebut all i can find some custom roms , it maybe change the looks or tweak a little but it doesnt make it run more smooth and fast...i think the problem is the low specs of the phone, maybe the ics is isnt compatible. so i have i theory that i working on 1st maybe i can change it to gingerbread since gingerbread runs low specs phone, 2nd maybe i could upgrade it to kitkat because they say kitkat can run into 512mb ram or maybe less ...i also thought maybe find other phone that has similar specs that run gingerbread and port its firmware, same as kitkat. i just dont know how...im reading a lot lately in android website about porting android to a new device..currently donwloading repo..i just hope someone could help to this project.. i hope you could help me...im still searching where to begin..and how to do it...

ICS Custom Rom For XOLO A500 and look alikes
This Room here is by far best rom i have used yet for my XOLO A500.
I also have used Team Burst Mk3,5 roms and I can say the roms are really good.
But for some reasons my touch screen went unresponsive whenever its auto reboot when hanged; only physical buttons work then.
This Rom is a CYANOGEN MOD rom called Blu Spark and is said to be a combination of some BLU Dash 4 (stock rom ) and iSpark Rom .
And yes, its based on Team Burst rom. So its light, fast and solves my above problem too.
I have only changed the Start LOGO from CYANOGEN animation to the GOOGLE animation from NEXUS
You can Write me, if you wish to have Cyanogen animation
Also, I faced the problem with GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES not installing on STOCK ROM on XOLO A500, this and every other custom solves that.
The ROM is in two parts (second part updates the ROM version with some more customs )
INSTALLATION;
- Place the downloaded files on SD Card.
- Go to recovery and FLASH the "BluSparkROM.zip"
- it may a couple of mins for the first boot.
(And yes, after the first boot, DATA Connection is ON by default
So to save your money, SWIPE down from notification bar and disconnect DATA connection
SORRY for the losses , But need not to worry, it will not auto connect from next boots.)
-Now boot again in Recovery Mode and this time Flash the "Update1.zip"
-it may take a min in this boot too.
Enjoy the Fast and Cool Rom

[Q] from stock to custom

Hi all,
I am using n8000 from a year now and for me it is the first android device that last with me a complete year with a stock rom ...
I can see the stock rom very satisfying but i only had 2 problems :
1- it is not customizable ( as I need)
2- 4.1.2 jb !!! I cant move my apps to sd ( I had low memory issue now)
So I decided to try a custom rom and all what I need is to find a rom that satisfy my daily usage:
1-I am using my tablet as a phone so I need a rom with a working headset Mic
2-not using S note app alot (occasionally)
As long as as I search here In xda I can't find what I seek so if anyone could suggest a rom for me, I would be grateful.
Thanks in advance

If your happy with your current ROM why don't you just root it and install folder mount [root] from the play store and transfer your files to your ext storage.
as it is rairly updated
As it is rairly updated (4.1.2), not customizable (year of usage and it is the same UI and the same everything) and if am going to root it anyway so why dont try a custom rom ?
I am happily rooted using folder mount. I also use nova launcher on my son's n8013.

I too am happy with 4.1.2 (I would be happier with a certified 4.3 or 4.4).
You say "just root it." For us dummies, how do I "just root it?"
If I do that and then Samsung updates the firmware, will I get it ok or must I "unroot."
How does one "unroot?"
Many, many, many thanks for any understandable instructions.

It looks like you are new here so it may be best for you to start out rooting your Note 10.1 and then maybe install a different launcher.
For your own good read, understand and follow any and all directions EXACTLY when rooting and or installing a custom firmware.

Hey everyone, I tried to port this ROM from the i9000 (Galaxy S). It's called the Smoothie ROM. I tried my best to make this ROM. The Base is the Zhao Edges Stock ROM. I just need somebody to continue development for this ROM as I have a lack of knowledge. I've uploaded it to Google Drive
The Ported ROM, or the source ROM is a CM9 Based ROM. You can find it here
In which stage is the development now.Till where did you port it?

Hey I don't think nybody will help you in porting the rom..Its just a stock like ics rom made for gs.Nobody will have any benefit porting it to a89 ninja..PLEASE NOTE THIS:The best ROM available for a89 ninja is the stock rom itself.

What is the need to port that ROM.It is not even good as the stock ics.We all know that GS does not have ics. Therefore this rom will have many bugs. Also this is a rom for GS.So porting this ROM will almost be impossible..
Meantime if you can spare some time please check out the new rom for a89 that I am releasing this april 26.You can find it in the a89 ninja development section.Hit thanks to support me.
