nice, waiting for my matte body protector from sgp
did you install it yourself? Or did you take it and let them do it? I heard they are in Malls but they arent in any close to me
I installed it myself and then went to a party, lol. Install was super easy imo. Much better than Zagg.

Does it leave any air bubbles? I think I want to try one to see if it would help protect the phone from more dust getting trapped under the screen
I think I'm still sticking with nekkid for now. Looks alright though.
Chicago has a mall that installs them but
I won a free full body zagg kit waiting when I return home from vacation!

Zero bubbles, was easy compared to other brands. Phone still feels like a dream in hand.

You only get air bubbles if you're impatient and don't follow the instructions. Also, this will not prevent the issue with dust under the screen. The people including myself who have dust under the screen all received their devices with the dust already there. The LCD's are sealed and shouldn't allow any more dust to creep in. I hope that helps clear up your dust question.

That's not entirely true. My asian version of the sensation had some dust but it got worse over time. It started with just a few specks then it got worse within a few days. So if it was properly sealed the issue wouldnt have worsened over time, It would have stayed the same.
I just put one of these on (not ghostarmor, different brand) and the screen looks "fuzzy" probably because of the water still underneath the protector. Does this eventually dry up? I've squeegeed all I could out of it.
Give it a day or two.

Got my ghost armor today, didn't realize it came as a 2-pack! For some reason mine doesn't matted like yours, it's still kinda glossy like zagg. The coverage of GA isn't as extensive as zagg or phantom skinz, the corners are left uncovered. This is a kinda of bad since when you drop your phone, the corners are usually the place that gets dinged.
Today I noticed a 2 inch scratch on my screen and deep enough to just get your nail in
Has anybody any ideas of what can be used to safely remove this or is it the case of a new screen

Maaaaybe silvo (the finer version of brasso), use this with extreme caution though, your could ruin your screen further! Or even a camera lens scratch repair kit?

Gorilla glass is very tough when it comes to scratching it with sharp objects, but you can easily scratch it with dust...
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
ok as an experianced user i willl tell you this..
the glass is very tough.. but it can scratch very easily with some material.. i managed to scratch mine on the beach, by just one sand grain trapped inside the leather pouch case i have.. the scratch was so deep that my nail could be trapped in there!!!!
what you should not do when you scratch your screen
1. buy a digitizer from ebay..
all ebay digitizers are not original, they are fake, they will not be gorilla glass they will not be smooth to the touch etc..
changing just the digitizer is a very difficult thing to do. just one small dust particle cought between the LCD and the digitizer will show.. in adition there are some small plastics that help to give the light to the 4 buttons on the bottom, those plastics are glued to the digitizer, and are not supplied with the digitizers on ebay, so removing those and re gluing them to the new digitizer will end up with reduced brightness of the 4 buttons.
2. try to sand fix polish the digitizer.. will not work, or at least will end up in a worse looking screen
what you should do (and what i finally did - after doing all of the above that i shouldn't have done)
1. go to HTC and buy the LCD+digitizer combo..
it is sealed and glued together and costs here in Greece 114 euros.
if you want to do a 100% good job buy the middle chassis, this is not needed and i did not buy it (it costs another 30 euros) but it will make your job easier since it has all the double sided tape ready to use on it..
The only downside in buying parts from HTC directly is that they require you to give them your IMEI number, or receipt so they can cancel your warranty !!!!! just buying the part cancels it!!
but once you open up your phone you have already canceled it, it would be obvious that it has been opened
good luck, and if you need anything ask here i will be helping.. i disassembled my desire s more than 20 times
Desire S has no Gorilla glass on
Talked to HTC support many times asking if Desire S is equiped with Gorilla, and the answer was clear: Desire S does not have Gorilla...It uses Asahi glass.
Having scratched Desire S is understandable.

I never knew that! Most reviews state definitively that it has Gorilla Glass, but I guess that catchy name is now fairly "generic" for any kind of toughened glass (like many people say "hoover" when they mean vacuum cleaner).
Still, the Ashai glass looks as if it ought to have similar properties to the original Corning aluminosilicate "Gorilla Glass" :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpbOoQpwAFs&feature=player_embedded
Well there is one new glass made by Asahi called Dragontrail, which is a tough one. But us strongly doubt Desire S using this glass.
You can go ahead and ask HTC about the glass on their Desire S.

My desire S gets scratched really easily. It doesn't bother me much but it's still annoying. Not surprised to hear it doesn't really have gorilla glass. My old desire (class if you will ) didn't get any noticeable scratches and I'd had it for longer and treat it a lot worse. Kind of ridiculous that the screen strength seems to gone down hill even though the advertised strength seems to say it's better.
I wish HTC had an answer to this question why didn't they use Gorilla on Desire S and still charged us with a price of a high end phone?
It really sucks that I have to look through a screen guard and my friend has fun rubbing his key chain on his Samsung Galaxy S.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Gorilla is just a brand name for Corning's proprietary brand of aluminosilicate toughened glass. It too can be damaged. Surely what matters is whether whatever HTC are using actually does the job (regardless of brand).
I can quite understand HTC using Ashai because it's probably cheaper.
I accidentally dropped my DS from a height on to a hard surface and it survived just fine Ordinary (soda) glass couldn't do that. Whatever they are using can't be too bad.
Are you using any protection on your screen? If not did you get any scratches on the glass?

Actually, it's still got the original screen protector on it.
I'm not suggesting that the glass HTC can't scratch, but rather that it's probably not really that much different to the original Gorilla glass.
Thinking about it - Didn't another poster note that the Corning site claimed they provided Gorilla Glass for the DS? Perhaps HTC changed supplier at some time?
Original screen protector? Desire S comes with bare glass out of the box. My phone had no screen guard out of box, neither does all unboxing videos on YouTube.

It appears that some of them do come with a protector fitted even in the factory sealed box. It seems that it's usually the unbranded / unlocked ones. This has been the subject of another thread. Mine was so perfectly fitted that I didn't realise it was fitted until I tried to put on a second one and it all went horribly wrong
This is strange. Mine is an unbranded, made in Taiwan, black one. I am using a screen protector which was applied by myself. My phone came to me with no screen protector pre-applied on.
Could HTC be using different kinds of glass on one phone?!

Unless your talking about that giant piece of protection that it comes wrapped with inside the box, I'm calling you out as a liar. Either that or someone had pre-applied a screen protector for you, because no HTC handset comes with a screen protector applied at the factory level.

That's a pretty retarded reason, "Oh I'm going to grab my key chain and try and scratch my phone" -_-" .. As I said in the other thread, its "scratch resistant", not "scratch proof", show me where HTC said it wouldn't scratch or bawwwwww more.
Sometimes it's really annoying, what are you wanting, if you really want to scratch it, you make it for sure.
Guys it's still a smartphone, no Swiss knife.
I got mine since 6 months without screen protector and I got no scratches at all.
I just got a wallet like it's recommended for EVERY smartphone and sometimes I put it in my pocket (in the same where my keys are) without the wallet for a short period and still nothing.
Sometimes it can be scratched by accident for sure, but at other phones it's the same.
So don't blame it on the phone if you got bad luck or not much brain.
Swyped from my HTC Desire S
Nobody actually tries scratching their phone. What we are asking is why didn't HTC use gorilla on Desire S? Desire S meant to be an improvement for classic Desire but it actually is reduced in glass quality.

I bought 3 sets of screen protectors. One from china, one from the us, one from ny. Random sellers with good ratings. Turns out the ones from us and china scratched when even wiped with the given cloth. And the one from ny had way too many bubbles (not due to dust. It was because it was too stiff?)
So if anyone has any extras that are good that you can spare, would you be willing to donate it to me? . Please and thank yous!

I will vouch for the protectors BlazinHitman posted, I bought 1 while I was waiting on my G2x to arrive and I will say it is a pretty decent screen shield. Also out of sheer curiosity I ordered a set from T-Mobile and the ones I go from then were the worst ones I have ever seen. They give you these mm thick bullet proof screen shields that you can barely see through. Almost makes your display look like a old school gameboy
ahaha hows the touch screen with the screen protector? ahahah. and just out of curiosity, if we cant put the protector on with the first try, is it still good for a second go? as my hands arent very stable.

That. Screen protector will not affect the touch screen. And you can reuse it as long as you don't put any bends/creases in it.

No no no, the mm thick one I was referring to was the ones I bought from T-Mobile when I ordered the phone. Those things I swear are thick enough to be bullet proof. The ones you ordered are thin, and clear. You will not even know you have it on the phone when you get it on.
cool. is it scratch proof? not totally scratch proof, i mean like scratchproof from like cards and stuff. .
and does anyone have the replacement tools to change the bezel? i ordered a bezel but it didnt come with the tools. . if anyone has extras, would ya'll be kind enough to send me a screw driver and on of those poppy thingies? thanks )). i cant stand scratches or marks on my phone so i wipe the phone everytime i take it out of my pocket. and the guy i bought it from screwed me over by giving me a screwed up bezel with dents and really noticable scratches.

I put mine on using my old blockbuster card and had no problems or any scuff marks.
And I do not have any small tools like that sorry.
yea like panowolf suggested use a credit card or something like that to smooth out the screen protector when u put it on. also make sure to clean it extra well, it comes with a couple of cleaning cloths. if you put it on correctly u should be good to go
i read that its reusable. we can just wash it?
the thing is... the crap screen protectors i got from china scratched from the credit card. (lol). or maybe i was just pressing too hard.which still doesnt mke any sense.

Yes you can reuse/wash it. Just be sure to put it on slow. Most people who put them on themselves just lay the entire protector down and try to work the bubbles out. You gotta slowly apply it and work the air out as you go. But im sure you know this already
I ordered the lifetime stealth shieldz from amazon, 2 for 5 bucks in case you needed another for whatever reason. I've only had it on for a couple weeks but it still looks as good as new, feels good no scratches and still perfectly clear.

Same question. Does anyone have experience getting the full width screen protectors?
Specifically I'm looking for either matte or mirror ones.
I find screen protectors are useless really for the sensations. They bubble and the finger prints smear to much. Just FYI the screen on the sensation are made of gorilla glass and can resist scratching. I did a few demos with some friends where id take a coin or a key and rub on the glass and no scratching occured. I dont recommend anyone doing this though. Thats my opinion.
I agree with you. I have had mine since launch and have never once used a screen protector. I put my phone in my pocket with loose change and keys all the time still no scratches. But I think this is all pretty well known, people just want that extra insurance that their screens won't get scratched

Not running a screen protector is like barebacking a hooker. You might be fine

You need to make sure the surface is ultra clean before application. Mine last for months.

My phone was just knocked off a coffee table onto a rug...
Must have met up with a grain of sand. I'm going to see that every time I look at the phone now...
Lesson learned? Use screen protector, even if you hate the rubbery feel
(tried my best to get a picture of it... pretty difficult to focus on)
I work in general construction. Meaning, dirt and saw dust is constantly flying around. I messed up in not buying a screen protector, and now the screen has a few hair line scratches that are only visible in certain lighting and at certain angles.
I don't really care though, cause I have SquareTrade insurance.
ahhh man i'm sorry . . mines got a few scratches on it which pisses me off everytime i see them, i don't even get how the screen got scratched. but that's just phones nowdays if you don't get a huge otterbox case stuffs gonna go down =/ F an otterbox case tho what's the point of the slimmest phone if we gotta do that?!
I recently dropped my phone as well with a case on, wasn't much help, the screen got chipped. however after examining it further, it seems that the screen has been treated with a gloss or some kind of finish on top of the glass. This may explain the scratching issue. It's really the gloss or finish that's being scratched off.

So I have been contemplating exchanging this phone for another because the lower plastic rear cover sticks out slightly on one side (was that way out of the box)... and I like my expensive things to be as perfect condition as possible (ironic, right?)
Think this damage to the glass will completely kill my chances of Amazon swapping out the phone?

If you don't like the rubbery feel look up realook screen protectors on amazon you can't even tell they are there had one on my vibrant for 2 years before I got my one s and it still looks ok considering the abuse I put it through. I have one on both my wifes and my one s's and she can't tell it's there either.

I had a Vibrant with Gorilla Glass that lasted 2 years without a screen protector and did not have a scratch on it. I thought my new One S would be the same.
Instead, after only 2 days - never having dropped it and with the phone only residing in my pocket (not the same pocket with my keys and change), my One S somehow got a hairline scratch on the screen.
I have since put a screen protector on it - though I much prefer not having one on it. Every time I see the scratch, I still get annoyed.
My advice to anyone considering buying a One S - before you even leave the store, invest in a screen protector.
Geesh.. makes me wonder if Sony's "scratch resistant" glass is actually any more durable..
I wasn't going to place a protector on my One S... but this changed my mind.
That's why you get a screen protector and a shell case right out of the box. If you are that particular about your expensive phone, it is well worth the extra cash. I got a shell case for mine and a screen protector as soon as I got my one s. Also helps resale value later if you have no scratches on it anyplace. X) I love my phone!
