Does anyone know how to get dark keys application working on the 1.5 firmware (cupcake)
Is it something the app developer needs to do and if so does anyone know where i can reach him to ask
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=513772 go here for app <<
it has to be done on the developers side and if you download the program through market the go to its details and scroll down to email developer.
already sent an E-mail to the Dev asking for the source code. He said he was going to get it uploaded.
cheers
Thanks guys
any luck on getting it to works on 1.5 yet?
Someone needs to make a new version of this app. one that doesnt keep flicking on and off like dark keys does. would be nice if it just remembered whether it was on or off and stayed that way until changed.
whats the darks key?black key?
Would it be possible to have a uer option to have the backlight on or off based on the time of the day?
Hm, they disabled a lot of programs abilities to change settings like wifi/gps etc, dont know if this was one of those settings (REALLY hope not since you cant change it in android settings either).
Really need this app working for 1.5 :/

That's a really good idea but we need to get it working with 1.5 first
Anyone seen any updates on this anywhere? His webpage seems quiet as well. Thinking about looking into this myself, but it'd be a lot easier with his code.
Nobody saw the source? It is explicitely posted on google code..
Here is the link:
http://code.google.com/p/darkkeys/
Did not actually see that, but I dont think it's possible with 1.5 firmware, I looked into it a bit myself, trying to construct hardwareservice jar file for 1.5.
//edit, that is, not possible with the normal hardwareservice way, it'll still work fine on rooted phones.
Rename to darkkeys.apk and install normally. Works only on rooted phones for 1.5 unfortunatly, and it's only debug signed.
Upstream bug tracker here : http://code.google.com/p/darkkeys/issues/list?updated=2&ts=1241446083
This is a disaster for white G1s!
Do I really have to root my phone just to be able to see the keyboard? What are Google playing at?

haha thank you so much i have been waiting for this for a LONG TIME!
Seems they changed detection on whether or not the keypad's open a bit as well, I'll see about making it more reliable sometime today.
Attaching new one, same procedure, rename to .apk and install directly.
What's the point in this?

Bronze G1s suffer from the same problem. So here's another vote for "change timeout based on time of day" feature. Preferably something configurable and togglable. Thanks for your hard work, guys!
There's a new video on the Android Developers Blog; that is essentially a walkthrough of some of the new Eclair features. Just an interesting tidbit for your consideration about the future of what's going to be on our devices

Thanks for this !
it also looks like Android 2.0 SDK is now available?!
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Doesnt this mean it can be compiled into a functional rom now?

I need those layers and other stuff on my GMaps.

i thought the sdk release for this was private to the devs that won the best app crap
::edit::
nevermind i should probably get online to do more than check twitter facebook and xda
the new avd manager and layoutopt look sweet
layoutopt will help alot if i could get hero booting on it hahaha.. il lsee if this is intented to run from emulator or if i can run it while my device is running (will allow cleaning up of file heirarchies ...= less symlinks/useless files the system goes through to find the original file = faster interface less cpu load)
when i get home ill see if i can get it going on a device........

yes
enjoy your brick
hahah jk jk i dont think itd be a good idea because of boot.img compatibility
from what im reading in this sdk stuff it has settings on your avd for multiple res differences... someone grab what our screens can handle post it and you can prolly pull the corresponding boot.img from your sdk
if anything id suggest getting into your adb via emulator and see if you cant just adb pull the system data and framework folders
or you can unyaffs the sdk's "stock" system.img and add/replace apk's for functionality "the google experience" can be added as well
i dont really recall where the SDK sticks its "stock" system.img and boot.img though

as far as sholes idk why the apps werent working i was waiting for the sdk release to play with the dump from sholes
you can prolly make an avd matching sholes specs n boot the dumped system.img from it via emulator if you REALLY wanna play with it
no promises tho there could b closed source stuff in the sholes dump that will prevent emulator from running it
i have SO much stuff to do today by the time i get to my computer someone will have prolyl posted a update.zip
if no one has ill swing by my folks house to use their t1 landline dl the sdk and try to get a update.zip for you guys

Same here, besides my tethering speed range is 2 - 7m/bits.
I hear its unhealthy for the phone tho.
Anywho... good luck on the work if you get to it. I wish I had the ability to do that kinda stuff.
Love the ability to sync multiple google accounts.
I hope there will be the chance to selectively enable the sync on an account basis, ie : account 1 mail sync on, account 2 mail sync off but contacts on, etc.

hi guys,
Runkeeper is out on android now but it looks like they screwed around with the settings of the app market because I can't find it there with my HTC desire. It's free so I though that someone could please upload the apk somewhere and post it here! thanks guys.
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
What's runkeeper?
Keeps track of speed, milage, etc, for jogging, hiking walking. Links to maps and can track your progress. Can upload but I dont use that function and no little about it. A best of its kind app IMO and was and is very popular on iphone. I just came here to post that it was available for android and saw this thread. I already downloaded and works great. Like most similar apps it uses lots of battery which is the only downside I am aware of.
@freaksey
I wanted to upload it for you, but it is protected app hence it is automatically odexed when installing. Anyone know some way to dump it, I'm too lazy to deodex it ;-)
I am also very interested in this app and also cannot find it on my HTC Hero.
Thanks in advance for the one that can dump the app from the market and upload it here.
Looking forward to it!

looks like Google doesn't like the HTC desire.
Here's another Android owner who wants to but cannot find (let alone install) Runkeeper....
Hope it'll be sorted out soon
I tried to deodex it, but had some problems. You must wait for JF:
http://code.google.com/p/smali/issues/detail?id=26
i hope someone soon figures out how to root the phone so we can get market enabler....
also, if you guys figure out how to get us runkeeper it would be greatly appreciated....
it doesnt show up with my Desire either
..........
Thnx so much! Just installed it. Now let's see if and how it works.
Thnx again
I get the message (in dutch, translated to english):
"Application did not install"
"Runkeeper cannot be installed on this phone"
I am running android 1.5 on HTC Hero

AArgh thanks for the message though!
I just removed my 2.1 ROM for the much more stable 1.5 [MoDaCo Custom ROM 3.2]
I'll try to use SportyPal tonight ...
Good luck, Legends ;-)
I read some place that the Runkeeper needs to work only on 2.0 or 2.1

Then you read wrong. As I wrote above, it requires 1.6 .
you rock brut.all!!!
thanks man, i appreciate it!!!
I normally use buddyrunner, but I tried this out tonight, it's quite good. Seems to be more responsive and accurate than buddyrunner, but not as many options, for instance no customizable audio alerts.
Might try it out soon.
What I don't like about it is the Runkeeper webpage.. I find it "too heavy" for mobile usage: if I click on a route link on my phone, it takes ages for the browser to render over 3G.

or is it possible to have the nexus one background on hd2, maybe without "interactive"?
thanks in advance,

is not interactive/animated but I think this is what you want.
You can use it as a wallpaper.!
yeah thats it
but isnt it possible to have it animated or even interactive?

I think we have to wait for TouchXperience!

Nope. Currently, there is no app (of which I know, at least) which does what you are asking for. As someone has already stated, we`ll just have to wait for TX...

Live wallpapers will really make a nice visual attraction on our beloved HD2`s!

I'm sorry but it's a pity someone posted TX. Schaps the dev of TX asked every tester to do not release his work. Don't be surprised if devs stop their hard work. So please remove the links, it's like WAREZ because not agreed by the author. And then what you got ? Complainers about "how does it work ?". Exactly the issue the private beta test avoid...

The phone, at least the T-Mobile version, comes with some animated wallpapers. Is there anyway to put something in the folder wherever they're stored and use that?
I'm not really sure what file type they are though either.
I have come to realize that I do not have the time to maintain this.
I apologize for letting this thread fall out touch.
Glad to see someone take on the EVO Kitchen. I've been following that thread waiting for someone to pick it up.
Thanks!!

It took a little time to get everything set up. It would have been up sooner, but I was out of town for work this week and stuck at a hotel with the slowest download/upload speeds in America (seriously downloading ROMs in number of bytes per second).
Glad to be back home and able to get everything else set up and posted. I hope people enjoy.

It worked just fine for me (I just double checked, using the CM6 ROM for base to be sure). It does take a little while after you click the 'Serve Me!' button for it to come up. Then it takes you to another page, and says 'Preparing your rom..' for a bit, then the download link will pop up.
When the link comes up, it will still say 'Preparing,' even though it is done. The link comes up on the left side the add box below, so it is easy to miss. It will say 'Your rom is ready for download' and provide a link.
cool idea OP...just wondering about the Cyanogen build. Is it based on the nightly?

Did you upload your own app? If so you HAVE to upload your own app in zip file.
WOW cool idea worked fine flashed fine using damage base. I love it. One thing does it deox?
How about all the basics like zipalign etc? Are those all default to whatever you use as a base?
Some of the base roms you have listed have different versions. As an example is OMJ...he has 3 versions (w/kernel, w/o kernel and deodexed). How can we tell which one is part of the program?
If I can make a suggestion, in so many people here like to theme, if a choice is to be made you use the deodexed versions.

Whenever possible, I have included deodexed versions. I didn't know OMJ had multiple versions, so I will check what is there and update the OP to be more specific about versions for that and others (probably in the morning).

To my knowledge the kitchen does none of those things. I know dsixda's kitchen is a bit more in-depth, including those features, but this is a lot more basic. Assume all ROMs default to whatever the original developer has done (so, for example, Fresh Evo does zipalign on load, but the stock ROM does not).

The CM base that is provided is the release candidate. Check the link in the OP for the post. I cannot keep up with the CM nightlies, so the kitchen will likely only be updated with major releases (if there is a RC2, or when the final comes out). Sorry for the inconvenience.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746276
So if the base rom that I select already was deox... zipaligned etc etc then I'm safe to assume thats how it gets recooked?
It would be cool if you can take some apps from another ROM and place it into your base ROM..
Very cool implementation of the kitchen. Nice work! One of my favorite features is making stock apps uninstallable by moving them to /data/app. Save you the headache of using adb or something like root explorer to manually delete an apk for something you don't want.
Is there any way that explanations of the files could be posted that are shown. The applications may or may not also make sense as they sometimes use internal HTC names. Yes, I know, asking a lot, but it might help those of us who don't know what all the files listed in the first section are for.
Is there any way to change boot animation? I saw on the Nexus One kitchen it was possible...
Skype Beta?
i saw in the kitchen one of your selectable apps is skype for video calls is there a apk for that anywhere
Little OT but where can i just get the Skype apk you have in your kitchen?
Thanks
everything looks great!
only idea and question which comes to mind as im stepping through the menus and options - version numbers for the applications to be added in?
example, wifi tether - what version number is this?
Would it make sense to have an option to include Netarchy's kernel for the ROMs that didn't already have it?
