I really doubt it since the roms and kernels are made for different cpu/gpu's.
Not to mention that roms will have to take in consideration the different radios such as 4g.
So no
Okay. I have to disagree with the idea that they won't.
They may not work directly, but adding LTE and processor support really isn't that hard of a thing to do ( as far as I am aware ). I'm relatively sure at some point, there will be a firmware cooker that will add those automatically to One X roms to make them compatible.

Different processor. The LTE isnt the issue. Its going from an Nvidia quad core 3 to a Qualcomm S4 Krait dual core. Completely different hardware that will require different drivers and paths.
Perhaps there will be a hellraiser package of some sort that will inject the drivers that we need, and be able to use, but the short answer is probably not at this time.
Hellraiser! That's exactly what I had in mind when I was saying what I did. I just couldn't put my finger on it.
However, I do hope a hellraiser kind of thing will released for the two.
Yep, different chipsets...no way they'll be compatible out of the box.
But it's likely that the people making the roms will make a version for both AT&T and International. As they've done w/ a lots of other phone's w/ different chips.
There's probably be a US team member, and a Intl team member working on those parts.
I can only hope.
Thanks!
Thanks for all the responses... Really looking forward to this phone but may hold off just a tad to see how ROM dev goes. I purposely held off on the vivid waiting for some quad core goodness, so I am disappointed that AT&T is not getting the international version. But, I understand why.

All our US guys, me included are buying the ONE X from the UK. I don't see the two phones ever being compatible rom wise (one x & one xl). fcc cleared the international version to be shipped to the US and can run fine on AT&T's radios. so It's a no brainer for me to get the quad core model. I can live with out LTE

I find it slightly nonsensical that people are buying into the quadcore hype when Krait is faster than Tegra 3, clock for clock, core for core.
It bugs the crap out of me... really. That means that just because of that the US is going to lose some major development. and I don't know if that's worth another $300 out of my pocket...
I think people are missing something here, because in actuality development will be split upon two different fronts.
The One X will be an EU/Asia HSPA+ phone, but the One XL will be used internationally, with the only difference between each XL is the radio bands.
It doesn't matter there's still radio differences and processor differences. It's a completely different SoC. That makes it difficult to transpose between devices(I would assume).
I'm thinking the One X will get most of the dev support. One XL has to many strikes out the gate. One XL will probably have a later release date its going to be releaesd to a smaller portion of the world population.

The problem is that the world is turning LTE into a major clusterfuck of radio bands to support, there's already 4 bands for GSM, 5 bands of WCDMA, and something like 4 bands of LTE in the US alone.
There's definitely a mess of bands in North America.
Verizon: 700 MHz - and their phones are CDMA/LTE dual
AT&T: 700 and AWS - their phones are GSM/HSPA/LTE triple
MetroPCS: 1900 and AWS - their phones are CDMA/LTE dual
Sprint (planned): 1900 including G-Block - their phones will be CDMA/LTE dual, with maybe one CDMA/Wimax/LTE hotspot
Note that the Verizon and AT&T 700 MHz LTE service is on different channels in 700 MHz, so they will not be compatible. Hooray.
Globally, LTE is expected be deployed on 38 different radio bands.

If you're concerned about the lack of development (and dont care about LTE) this is the way to go. The X and XL will both be popular here at XDA, but for those of you that want the most popular/supported device you might want to think about the One X.
And yes, most One X chefs will eventually whip up an XL version of their build but my guess is it wont be right away..

Are the people who are getting the X instead of the XL buying it unlocked? Because I would get the X and sacrifice LTE if I can get it for the same price. My contract is over in May so I was going to use my upgrade on this.

We will be buying them unlocked. It won't be the same price. The AT&T One X will be at least $549.99 off contract. The lowest price I have seen for the International T3 One X is $675.50 from Negri Electronics.

I'd be willing to bet that the AT&T XL will be at least $650 off contract. That's what the Galaxy Note costs, and the XL is a better device.
If you were going to buy outright and unlocked, which version of the one x would you buy?
I know that the AT&T version of the phone had some better benchmark results along with better battery life results, but I know that can be adjusted through rom/kernel, etc.
So which would you buy outright?
The international version (Im not in an LTE market) or the ATT version?
The AT&T version without a doubt. That is, if the 16gb of storage is not an issue.
i bought outright, and i got the at&t one
would opt for the Rogers

Probably this. It has the HTC branding instead of AT&T... and it also has the S4 processor which has been proven to be at least on par with Tegra3 or better. Its also been proven to be better at battery life.
Also, no locked bootloader.
The international versions has had some graphical bugs and other issues, probably related to the Tegra drivers. Some folks over in the "other" forum are saying not to expect a fix from Nvidia any time soon on this.
Also, what if they end up launching LTE in your areas sometime soon? Could be a cause for regret.
The additional storage, and probable better dev support are the only real benefits of the international version, IMO.
AT&T/HTC kept the bootloader on the Vivid locked for about a month after that phone's release. I'm not worried about it, as I think a similar thing will happen with the One X.
Yeah I just sent my 32Gb baby back for a refund due to flickering getting worse n worse. I dont know if I can live with 9.9gb but I am gonna try because I loved the phone but couldnt deal with the flickering once it got bad.
The Rogers XL. In fact, I just snagged one.
Beamed from my Rogers HTC One XL
Is there a site we can order the rogers one X from or do we just have to find us a canadian friend or hope ebay has one?
Oh no locked boot loader but it will be unlocked in a month?? Oh no the world is over smh
I bought mine outright , had a 'review unit' for a week prior. Best update, was worth the $704 (Ontario HST Included) I spent on it.
.. delegated by Nigerian princes
I'd pick the AT&T version, even if not just for LTE.
Okay I am looking for a new phone on T Mobile. I am looking at Samsung Galaxy S III. Does anyone have one and give a review on it. Are there better phones on T Mobile or phones that may be coming out this year that I should wait for? Does anyone know if any phones with the Nvidia Tegra are going to be coming out for T-Mobile
The only in depth reviews for Galaxy S III were for the international version with the quad core.
Does anyone know if HTC One X will work on T-Mobile?
depends what are you needed..
generally...sgs3 have a more performance...
but one x is have the beautiful design
htc one x will work on t-mob but am not sure about data bands.. check for data bands otherwise you may stuck with 2g.
galaxy s3 will be best choice , but also check htc one s
it should depend on how long you want to stick with the phone, and whether you want to use 3G or 4G/LTE...

The One X will only work on 2G/EDGE speeds until the refarm is done in your area. I personally didn't like the S3 because of the size so I went with the HTC One S. I think the 1S has the perfect size for a phone and has the same processor as the T-MO S3 but it all comes down to what YOU want in a phone.

I think the refram has been done. They are pushing for the family to upgrade phones right now. My mom still has an old flip phone. Her signal seems to be getting worse.
I just looked it up and apparently the quad core SIII and the One X are not available in the US. Does the One S have a MicroSD slot? The SIII does have a slight advantage with the extra gig of ram. As for size i really need to hold them and see if they can fit comfortably in my pocket.
Hi,
Now, if you are an international buyer and you thinking of getting the AT&T HOX, here is some information you should be aware of:
1. Do not buy manufacturer refurbished. Apparently AT&T are relocking those phones and you cannot get the unlock codes anywhere. Period! I have the HOX and all I can do is stare at it since an unlock code is not available.
I had started another thread on the same here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841609
2. Devs are working on a method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694553
If you are interested, you could act as a tester. Better yet, we should start a bounty for this...

I dont get what this thread is even really about.
AT&T One X is locked. That is well known.
Why would international buyers be interested in refurbed AT&T stock versus refurb other stock?
The exact same applies for importing brand new stock.
I doubt the typical international user is at all interested in buying AT&T stock new or old. They would be typically buying local stock or from markets known to be open, eg everything else.
AT&T new = locked
AT&T old = locked
That is well known through the other million threads and blogs about it, how is this thread news to anyone? If they didnt find the other million posts and blogs, they wont find this one either...
This thread offers no new info its just a rehash on the fact AT&T One X is locked.
I think he is trying to say that there is no IMEI unlock for AT&T refurbished One X?

why an international user would buy a US branded phone and want to unlock it rather than buying an unlocked model is what I'm struggling with.
Hmmm comparing with international One X, the ATT branded One X is cheaper I guess..

Yeah the at&t is a lot cheaper. Plus for me, benches matter a lot. The quad international version is on the same level as the dual s4 version. And the s4 actually beats the quad in some benches....

The phone known as the AT&T One X is sold international as the HTC One XL in Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Canada and possibly other markets. In Germany and Australia it actually has 32gb internal storage instead of 16gb.
All of this is already in many reviews, blogs, XDA threads and plastered all over the net.
Users would just buy the phone from those markets if they want an unlocked phone.
The AT&T version being locked and only having 16gb internal storage makes sense to why you might find it cheaper.
It is not news that AT&T One X is locked, it has been very widely reported.
If a user confuses what an International One X, AT&T One X or a HTC One XL is they have not done anywhere near enough research to be importing or unlocking phones.
One more thread in XDA is not going to help those foolish enough to have clearly not done their homework on what they are buying.
It's like the users that come in weekly crying because they tried to flash ROM's for the international One X on to their One XL after the huge amounts of warnings not to do that. It's sad that people have destroyed their expensive phone but they are doing it to themselves by being lazy and not reading first.

I'm looking to get a good condition used One X. Unfortunately eBay is cluttered with misinformation and junk devices. It seems that generally the One X is cheaper than the One X+, obviously. So what I'm trying to figure out is this, did AT&T make a One X in 32GB? I did a couple of searches and it looks like they did not, but there are some listings that have some AT&T ones for sale so I'm kind of confused.

Incorrect. At&t might have never released a 32gb model, but several other carriers did. My partner has a 32gb One XL from Telstra. So the answer to @sikkboy626's question is yes, there is a 32gb model. It won't be at&t branded though, and will not carry the at&t radio hardware (the LTE hardware specifically)
