If you were going to buy outright and unlocked, which version of the one x would you buy?
I know that the AT&T version of the phone had some better benchmark results along with better battery life results, but I know that can be adjusted through rom/kernel, etc.
So which would you buy outright?
The international version (Im not in an LTE market) or the ATT version?
The AT&T version without a doubt. That is, if the 16gb of storage is not an issue.
i bought outright, and i got the at&t one
would opt for the Rogers

Probably this. It has the HTC branding instead of AT&T... and it also has the S4 processor which has been proven to be at least on par with Tegra3 or better. Its also been proven to be better at battery life.
Also, no locked bootloader.
The international versions has had some graphical bugs and other issues, probably related to the Tegra drivers. Some folks over in the "other" forum are saying not to expect a fix from Nvidia any time soon on this.
Also, what if they end up launching LTE in your areas sometime soon? Could be a cause for regret.
The additional storage, and probable better dev support are the only real benefits of the international version, IMO.
AT&T/HTC kept the bootloader on the Vivid locked for about a month after that phone's release. I'm not worried about it, as I think a similar thing will happen with the One X.
Yeah I just sent my 32Gb baby back for a refund due to flickering getting worse n worse. I dont know if I can live with 9.9gb but I am gonna try because I loved the phone but couldnt deal with the flickering once it got bad.
The Rogers XL. In fact, I just snagged one.
Beamed from my Rogers HTC One XL
Is there a site we can order the rogers one X from or do we just have to find us a canadian friend or hope ebay has one?
Oh no locked boot loader but it will be unlocked in a month?? Oh no the world is over smh
I bought mine outright , had a 'review unit' for a week prior. Best update, was worth the $704 (Ontario HST Included) I spent on it.
.. delegated by Nigerian princes
I'd pick the AT&T version, even if not just for LTE.

Im not sure, but from previous experience about how verizon seems to lock out all the good features that are in the other carries version of the same phone. Many examples can be suggested, but yeah you get the point.
I was considering dropping verizon to get a fuze since the price is much more appealing.
What im trying to ask is do you think verizon will lockout a lot of features on the touch pro? ex: flashing the rom that isn't a authorized verizon htc update rom. Non verizon approved app's???
Also features that ATT offers that verizon dsnt and vise versa. +verizons supposed faster speed on a data connection. I know this should be asked at howard forums for the question, but the flashing issue would be better suited here.
thanks for your time
Verizon will do everything possible to make the phone suck... it's what they do with all their phones
http://gizmodo.com/5084980/htc-touch-pro-to-launch-on-verizon-november-24th
A few verizon employee's told me about this last monday before the info was leaked. Specs wise i know the verizon ver is worse, but im more interested in the software aspect.
Worse and $50 more expensive than the Sprint and AT&T version... I don't know how people still find it possible to stick with Verizon.
Verizon is wonderful in terms of network for a large part of the country that is why they are successful. And many people don't care about having the cutting edge or newest phones.
Verizon almost always handicaps their handsets in some way to push their own software, not unlike what ATT did with the Fuze.
If you are die hard verizon wait it out and see.
Ill wait to see, personally id rather have the Touch HD*no 3g* since its like 50$ more than a contract free verizon touch pro. Im most likely gona get the FUZE if i dont see any good reason to switch.
If i get an oportunity to have verizon leme use a demo version and ask someone who actually knows. What should I ask em like specs wise besides it being downclocked >_<? Also anything important to look out for if i get to try the demo or full ver?
ALso on the fuze is there video play back? I looked on htc's US site and didnt see any info about that, which the pro models had.
i've learned to wait and see for myself...
guys, if life has taught me anything is to wait and see, third party comments aren't always accurate.... wait and see for yourself...
For those that purchased this phon on launch day our return window is closing soon. Is anyone else considering returning the phone for another att lte device? What lte devices are coming soon for att?
There are only 2 right now. The vivid and skyrocket. The vivid is htc with a slower processor, and locked botloader.. but there is aan lg phone coming out soon suposidley the last lte phone of the year

according to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)
its the same processor in both. the international Raider is clocked at the same speed and the AT&T variant (Vivid) is slightly Underclocked from the factory. but they are both capable of the same speeds.
You don't even say why you want to return it.
I've personally contemplated getting the Galaxy Nexus (unlocked), but I'm torn between the two.
The main GN selling points for me are the higher res display, notification light and NFC out of the box. On the other hand, it's got a crappy camera, no LTE (plus I'm hearing lousy signal and data speeds on AT&T).
What I love about the SR is obviously LTE and the camera, but on the other hand I hate the 800x480 res and sound quality of both ear speaker and loud speaker is sub-par. Plus, no notification light is killing me, reminds of my days with an iPhone. Why does Samsung omit this feature is beyond me.
If you can live w/ less internal memory, than the LG Nitro HD LTE might be good.
But the dev suport on the lg will be a gamble

The skyrocket is a really good device, you might as well keep it. Your other option on ATT is the vivid which I have and is a great device. But don't worry, with this CarrierIQ thing going on right now (which seems to be ATT only and not Google, Samsung or HTC) you ptobably should be able to opt out the contract at any time since you didn't sign up for that crap...

Ciq isnt just att.....the samsung epic is the first phone i believe to be discoverd with it thats sprint, and that was discoverd almost a year ago. But i am suprised no one has tried to see if they could get out of there contract yet due to it... i believe it was k0nane who discoverd it on the epic
Then it looks like the SR is the best choice for the next 6 months or so. Honestly, I haven't even looked at new phones that were coming out for AT&T. The LG phone doesn't look appealing as there is only 4gb on board which is crazy for a smartphone these days.
Thanks for the info!!

This is my concern. The only two gripes I have about my skyrocket are the screen lines and the poor audio...The LG Nitro screen quality may be better resolution, but it is still LCD. I doubt audio is any better than what it was on the thrill. On that note...the thrill has hod absolutely no developmental improvements since I left that device over a month ago.
I have no interest in the Vivid (heavy, washed out screen, bootloader issue) so the Nitro would be my only choice at the moment and I just don't see that happening...4gb internal memory and no development....the SR will prolly be the better choice to tide me over until mid '12
We have another upgrade available next week so we may pick up a nitro to compare side by side.

Where are you seeing this? None of the reviews I've read have mentioned that. One thing that may not be widely understood is that you need to have your account provisioned to get HSPA+ data speeds. The old wap.cingular.com gateway is apparently capped in terms of data speeds. You need the IMEI of a "4G" capable AT&T phone in order to get a 4G data plan and the right code added to your account - AT&T doesn't recognize the IMEI of the GN as 4G capable. My plan is to buy the SGS2 Skyrocket with my upgrade, activate it on the 4G unlimited data plan, then sell it and use the SIM in an unlocked GN once the 32GB HSPA+ GN is available.

I read it in multiple posts here on XDA under the GN section. My line was fine with HSPA+ since I had the Atrix, and they said I wouldn't need a new SIM for the Skyrocket...which I believe since I'm getting 45mbs here in DC.
Anyone want a One XL for their international One X?
FYI,
I had the Intl version and now I have the ATT version.
It's night and day better on the ATT model, I've bought unlocked phones before, but the Intl HOX was bug ridden. I mean I sold mine after a week or so. Data issues, music playback, camera, you name it, wasn't worth it to me to wait for sw updates.
So far the ATT HOX is very stable for me, none of the Intl HOX issues thus far.
The biggest disadvantage is the fricken low amount of storage we get. I mean 9 gigs of storage, that's bad for a high end smartphone like the HOX is.
But I'm making it work, and even though there is more than twice the storage on the Intl model, unless I read of some major SW update that has fixed all the issues, I'm good to go with the ATT model.
I'm on Rogers and I rather buy the Telus version of the HTC One X because it comes in a charcoal colour. However, can someone tell me if I can unlock the phone with ease and use it on Rogers? Are there any custom roms available to flash on Telus' HTC One X so that I can get better performance and eliminate the carrier branding on the phone?

Other than the colour, electronically, the phones are identical.
There are a plethora of threads to read here to get yourself rooted and using custom ROMs. That being said; the TELUS ROM unlike Rogers has no carrier specific branding or software on it except for 1, unobstructed application.

Thanks for the information. Is there a free way to unlock the phone? Do you have any suggestions on what is the best way to unlock the phone?
there are plenty of unlocking services on ebay for less than $10.
I'm not aware of a free way of SIM-unlocking like there was on the Desire Z/G2.
I also have a dedicated guide on the Telus HOX in my signature as well if you want a step-by-step on unlocking the bootloader and getting custom roms on your Telus variant.

Can you confirm whether I can just drop by any Telus store and buy the HOX off contract without any hassles? What is the lowest price off contract? Is it better to buy from FS/BB or the Telus store?
Which Tom are you using? Is the Cyanogen 10 Nightly build compatible with this version of the One X? I think it's Te international version of the HOX that is compatible, but I would like to know.

If it says AT&T Rogers Telstra HTC One X it basicly means our phone. I belive we do have a Cm10 build by h8. Personally I got my One X from Ebay which is a fair bit cheaper and as long as it's a non AT&T you don't need to worry at ALL about rooting the phone

If you have the money, going to the Telus store is your best bet. If you go to FS/BB or any other 3rd party, they run heavy on commission so they may pressure you into signing a new contract. Telus stores aren't as heavy and I have bought many phones off contract by simply asking them. It will still be locked, though you can ask them to unlock it for you since you're not getting it subsidized.
I am running CleanROM 4.5 Final and I love it. Very stable and very good on battery. I tried NT and others, but the stock look of Sense 4.0 is very appealing to me. There is a version of CM10 that is available here. I'm not a fan of nightlies so I don't use it personally.

What's wrong with the nightlies? Is it not stable? If I go with CM10, then I'll lose Sense right? If so, it's not a big deal for me. I want as close to ICS/Jelly Bean as possible. I'd go with the Galaxy Nexus if it wasn't for the fact that it doesn't have LTE.
Are you sure Telus will even consider unlocking the phone for me if I buy it off contract? I have a feeling they won't.

You can always ask. Some of the associates there are not so bright. Example, the guy who gave me my HOX didn't know a single thing about it. Pretty sure I heard his manager fire him on my way out.
The nightlies is just a personal opinion. Never used them so I can't comment on them, but there's something about nightly releases that doesnt sit well with me.

Any Canadians got a 3rd Gen Moto G? I know they are locked unfortunately, but are they the same model as the unlocked variant sold in the states at best buy? Due to it being carrier locked, idk how fast updates will come.
I have the Canadian one. I wanted to get the 2GB RAM variant, but unfortunately it is hard to get a hold of in Canada right now. Also, interestingly, Telus was the only carrier willing to sell one to me outright, and so I had to pay their higher $230 price. The 1GB RAM version is actually quite alright, haven't noticed any lag or low RAM issues.
The good thing is that the Canadian versions are bloatware free, and the carriers here are not too bad with updates. Also, if you are willing to unlock the bootloader, you can flash custom ROMs as well as updated stock ROMs from other regions.

Thats good to know, I am going to try picking up a Moto G from Virgin Mobile. I need a decent phone to hold me until the next nexus 5 since my nexus 4 broke lol. Hows the multitasking? Can you play music and browse in chrome without it killing the music app? I am not even sure if the 2GB model is coming to Canada to be honest. Its not worth importing it form the states after currency exchange and taxes and duties

Basic multitasking is no problem whatsoever. I have 5 web tabs, hangouts, and a music player open right now and I can switch between any web tabs or open apps without any reloading or lag.
As you said., It doesn't look like the 2GB RAM version is coming to Canada, and the exchange rates don't make sense for importing it from the US. It's a shame though, I don't know why Motorola can't just offer it for sale retail here (through Staples or Best Buy or something like that, as they did with previous Moto G models).
The Canadian versions are carrier locked, but the bootloader can be unlocked. You can carrier unlock them too from various online sites (or from your carrier at an excessive cost).
XT1540 1g user here, all run smooth and battery is not bad (4-5h sot) waiting for an aosp cm ROM to come out
The device worth 216$ from koodo Carrier.
