I have searched but found no specific instructions on how to do this, other than use Odin and the firmware file from SamMobile.com. I have downloaded both of these but now I don't know what to do. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would give me the rest of the instructions. Thanks in advance.

simply use the sammobile .tar instead of the k0nane listed in the thread.
Also...fyi: I just did this the other day...if you get lots of "force close" go to "settings"..."privacy"..."factory data rest"
that should get you back to stock...2.3.5
if you want to get back to 2.3.6, you can perform "software update" for OTA from ATT.
I was having lots of connectivity issues with ICS leaks, so I went back to GB too.
Thanks for the quick reply! Giving it a try now

Thanks. I'm also going back to gb today cause of the threat of phones being bricked by theses leaks. I know our phone was not mentioned but it said possible others to. I just don't want to take that chance on bricking and having a very expensive paperweight.

Could you just use a nandroid backup to go back to GB? I'm thinking of going back to GB. The keyboard lag with Swype annoys me too much on ICS.

The only issue with using the nandroid backup to go from ICS --> GB would be that the modem is not included in the backup, and therefore would not be restored. I'm not sure the ICS modems will work once the GB nandroid backup is restored.
If anyone can confirm or deny the above, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
If your concern is the bug reported in the ICS leaks then a full restore to GB would be what you want to do.
Use the Sammobile tar.
This thread (as previously pointed out) has the instructions for flashing the tar. You should read it completely.
This post in the thread explains that you have to extract the files from the zip you DL from Sammobile and then flash the file ending in .md5 with Odin. Partial quote:

Using a nandroid BU does not install all of the original files. As pointed out one thing not replaced by the nandroid is the radio. To get back completely to stock using the Sammobile tar and Odin appears to be the best way.

100% correct!
Another Mirror though this is for the uncompressed version.
One more question (maybe two)... As long as I disable EXT4 via the Voodoo Control app prior to the Odin flash I won't need the PIT file, right? And this Odin will get me to an absolutely 100% stock state that even God wouldn't be able to tell was Rooted previously... also correct? Sorry if this is Noobish... just can't afford to have a $600 charge slapped on my bill because it was determined I had voided my warranty.

As long as you are running something based on the stock firmware and is still in a working condition (you can boot the phone and use it), you shouldn't need the PIT file. At the moment, the PIT file is unnecessary 99% of the time, and the 1% where it is needed, your phone is likely on its last leg.

That worked for me. I went between my ICS and GB backup quite a few times, starting the day that the leak came out.
I would also like to go back to GB.. just too many little things that are annoying the crap out of me.. PLUS Im randomly getting sleep of death..
Having said that, I used the nandroid restore file as I could not use the flash because I am on Rogers..
Is going back to a GB rom as simple as grabbing the rom and flashing it from cwm?
You should be able to restore fron your nandriod backup. You can even flash the proper radio back if needed.

use darkside as a precaution, it will save u some heartache
I've done it about five times now. It's very easy IF you have a nandroid backup of your old GB or someone's backup. You can either use darkside wipes or DIY wipes and it will get you back to where you were prior to ICS-leak mania.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1548750
It is very easy, search the forums for Odin info (if needed) I've done it 3x so far with no kinks.
Edit: 4x and Darkside's wipe is a must have!

Hi all, just need a little clarification please. I`ve been searching the forums but so far, no luck.
I have a SGS2 from rogers and have recently flashed an ICS rom (I also flashed a new kernel and radio). I want to go back to stock gingerbread. I have a CWM backup that I made right after rooting the device.
That leaves me with a few questions:
Since the CWM backup won`t set my radio back to what it used to be, do I have to do it manually?
If I don't, will everything still work fine with the I727UCALC4 radio even if i`m on gingerbread.
Thank you in advance for the responses. I just don't want to miss any steps and end up with a paperweight!!
I'm in the same boat - I did manage to find the stock radio for the rogers i727r but I cannot find the stock i727r kernel. If anyone here knows if it is the same as the ATT version please let me know.
the files I have are ..
i727_stock_kernel_odin.tar < I believe this is the ATT stock kernel
Radio_RIL__I727RUXKJ7.zip < Rogers i727 radio
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA
I also want to go back to GB. If I get the correct Tar file, and open Odin, then target the .tar file and click start, is that the correct process?
Nvm IM going to do it. If i hose it no biggy as this sunday I'll be getting a new phone anyways.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me if I can run a gingerbread rom with an ICS radio (I727UCALC4)?? Does it matter? I thought that CWM just restored the original rom and kernel but did not modify the radio??? Thanks.
I just flashed the one click ics leak. it worked okay, but it wasnt stable enough for me. So i want to go back to Gingerbread and wait for the official release. Im new to this rooting stuff. Yes you can, sammobile is complete. Just extract from the zip and flash in odin
I had to install cwm to my device after flashing back to stock and flash the uckk1 radio and use the reset flash counter zip. Then I flashed stock cwm in Odin rebooted and was able to receive the update to 2.3.6. Which breaks wallpaper scrolling. My only grip about it.
Just flash the stock radio that will solve your problem of not receiving ota updates.

Yes, everyone knows by now
ICS for Rogers Skyrocket is available through Kies as an Update as of this morning!!!
Also ROOT works too!!!
Sorry guys for my writing style, hope this is the right place to post it.
Just wanted to pass some news and tips so you know 100% what works and what doesn't.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
ROM UPDATE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Make sure your Kies is up to date and you have all Samsung Drivers correctly installed. If you update drivers and/or Kies software REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER.
It did not work for me when I was on another ISC leak ROM (ICS->ICS no no, GB->ICS yes! makes sense)
So went back and first flashed Rogers Radio/Modem (Radio_I727RUXKJ7.zip) and then ODIN Stock ROM (SGH-I727R-UCKJ2-k0nane.tar)
Thanks k0nane!
After doing that, Update through Kies went with no issues.
(it takes about 15 min so make sure your battery is fully charged and depending on your Internet connection it may be longer or faster)
Some screensots from Kies are attached below.
Pay attention to the messages, especially for the last NOTICE after update shows 100%.
The phone WILL REBOOT ON ITS OWN AFTER COUPLE MINUTES.
DO NOT PULL THE CABLE OUT!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
ROOT
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
It works.
Just follow instructions from starskyrob in THIS Guide
Thanks starskyrob!
It actually ONLY works with this version (Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip)
I know that because, of course I got too lazy and used SGSII Toolkit to do dirty work but it only ODINed proper CWM for me and then superuser.zip it tries to flash is 3.0.5 so this version does not work.
Just use Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and everything will be fine.
Hope it helps some of you.
We waited waaaaay too long for this!!!
Except you tripped your flash counter if you used k0nane's "stock" tar. You're better off using the stock tar from the Sammobile website. I can confirm first hand that k0nane's trips the counter, the stock tar from Sammobile does NOT.

As well, the two files are different in size, I can't recall which is larger though so something's not jiving.

As mentioned previously, yes you can reset the counter. As also mentioned, I noticed there's a size difference between the two so added to the fact that k0nane's "stock" tar trips the counter and is a different size than the Sammobile one, I'd be inclined to use the Sammobile one. Also, why add extra steps like having to clear the flash counter? Might be worthwhile adding a note about that in the OP for those that don't read the whole thread and are unaware of the flash counter tripping situation.
WiFi problems after rooting official Rogers ICS 4.0.4
Hey everyone,
I just updated from stock Rogers GB to the official ICS - no problems there; however right after I rooted it using the file/method suggested above (again, without any issues), I started having issues with WiFi - it seems to be random but say, about 4/5 times, the WiFi would fail to connect after the phone gets restarted - although the WiFi service is running (the WiFi button is green). Sometimes there is also a system flash showing the message "?WiFi available" with a question mark before the message. If I manually stop/restart the WiFi, it eventually recognizes the hotspot and it connects. I have the Superuser & Busybox Pro PROPERLY installed, furthermore, no other program that requires root permissions seems to be having any problems whatsoever (Titanium Backup, Rom Manager, Superuser, Tasker, CallRecorder, etc).
Although I didn't spent much time playing around BEFORE applying the root, it seems obvious to me that this only occurs after rooting - personally I suspect that ICS 4.0.4 doesn't go along very well with this rooting method (mismatching binaries). I am also aware about a known bug in ICS 4.0.4, causing the WiFi to frequently drop - could it be one and the same?
FYI: I tried installing/reinstalling ICS several times: initially I have updated through Kies, than I flashed the ROM from Sammobile through Odin, and then another couple of time I just reformatted the system in CWM and reinstalled everything again.. At first I used some backups from TB (no system files, only 3rd party), but then, suspecting that backups made in GB might conflict with ICS structure, I didn't use any backups at all - just fresh installations - no difference, same problem.
UPDATE: I have flashed & done some tests with SKY-ICS by seanzscreams. Unfortunately, since it's based on the same Rogers' ROM, it comes with the same problem. I guess this only confirms my observation.
Anybody else having this issue?

Well, actually it DOES work while YES, it does give an error - all you have to do is ignore the error and keep trying; the 3rd or the 4th attempt shall be successful and it'll confirm the process successfully completed.
HOWEVER
Super User 3.0.7 and CWM are two completely different things. The Super User 3.0.7 combined with the binaries (as it comes zipped) is intended to root the phone, while the CWM is a set of tools - having nothing to do with rooting.
My concern is that even the developer of the package Super User 3.0.7.zip admits that the binaries were intended for all Android versions up to 4.0.3 - while, like many others, I was hoping to also work with 4.0.4 - which it does...but it doesn't.
A direct reference can be found here.
Has anyone heard whether or not Chainfire, as come up with a non Odin one click, with CWM Touch & root?
I get the feeling that can do all this in his sleep!

Ok, I've got a couple of probably very dumb questions. So sorry!
I updated my phone to the rogers ICS using kies. Everything is great, but I no longer have Root.
In reading Copperheads instructions this is what I don't get.
I already have
The the superuser zip on my external sd card, as well as Rom Manager, CWM Recovery and titanium etc. They're all present in my app drawer & as short cuts on the phone. What is missing is the root access, why is the message I get when trying to open any of them Is there no way to flash what's already on my phone? Or do I basically have to start from scratch with Odin So I apologize again for the question, it's just hard for me to figure out why, if everything is actually on the phone now?

quick question
Okay so quick question,
If it's better to use the stock odin tar from sammobile to flash back to stock.
Would it be better to flash the I727RUXLF3(ICS) from sammobile right away or go back to stock gingerbread and upgrade through kies.
Do i just flash a stock gingerbread firmware (btw, where can i find that?) through ODIN? or is there another procedure? thanks.

THANK YOU!!!
You can use Thomas' Gremling Remover too.
I Odin raver's kc1 cleanup rom with boot loaders checked, then stock kj6 with bootloaders checked and then antonx's Odin basic with a twist kernel. The kc1 cleanup from is a little hard to find search for "hawk". That takes the phone back to the original froyo that came with the phone. It used to be a chore to get voodoo lag fix working but antonx's kernel automates the process. Once you get there you have a working cwm and you can flash any gb rom you like.

It's easier if he just uses Thomas' Gremling Remover, then flash Anton's Basic with a Twist kernel. Two steps. That seems a bit complicated, getting back to Froyo to go GB. A few days ago I was checking the ROMs in the Bible and most old ROM links don't work since back then Multiupload was used and that webpage is dead. No to be rude, just saying. Whatever helps is good.
The cleanup rom is four files a pit a csc a phone and the large md5 file. The kc1 cleanup rom is the old school way but it's very reliable and cleans everything off putting the phone back to factory stock.

I could never get any of the heimdall methods to work, and I haven't seen a four part kj6 stock rom with the pit, Csc, and phone files along with the pda file. Maybe those other three files are the same for froyo and gingerbread. We used to have to go back to froyo to get voodoo lag fix working but I remember odining just the stock kj6 file and getting boot loops or some other problem. If you've already downloaded the files it's very simple to do the three steps and once you Odin the antonx kernel it goes right into the lag fix restore. I've been back and forth this last week.

The funny thing is my oneclick is basically everything the odin method does in one shot.
Raver helped me get all the right components to put into the oneclick, and tested it for me... back when he had an sgs4g. My stock rom comes with pit, the csc update (which doesn't flash if you have the /sdcard/Voodoo stuff enabled), and all the other stuff you said.
All you have to do is get off your bum and remove the odin drivers, install the new drivers that come with heimdall and forget about being stuck to using windows. Now you can flash from linux, mac os x, and windows.
YEAY!!!
