Front camera dust - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I love my hox.... But one thing that's a bad design is the front camera... Dust will get in and u have to constantly clean it... What is everyone's experience?

Filled with dust. The saving grace is, I don't use it so it doesn't effect me
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

Hmm, I just blow on mine and the dust clears pretty easily. Granted, I blow away at the first sign of dust... probably would be harder if you allow it to collect.

Stick a qtip in the hole.

Only advised as a last resort. Doing so pushes the dust/debris further into the phone.

Maybe compressed air for when I more vigorous form of blowing is needed...sorry, couldn't resist.

a qtip has worked just fine for me

if you have any sort of lens cleaner you can put a TINY dab on the extreme tip and LIGHTLY swirl over the front camera, that should remove any dust, but if you push too hard then you'll definitely push the dust into the cracks and likely into the screen
a soft tissue or swiffer sheet should work too

I'd have to agree but I usually just get rid of it with a piece of tape when I have no choice but to put it down on a dusty surface or just put it in its holster. I'd take removable dust over permanent scratches/dents

Proximity Sensor

I noticed what I thought was a defect on the screen of my Thunderbolt and nearly went back to the store and returned it in favor of a new one. The only thing that stopped me from doing so was when I noticed the exact same defect in a high resolution marketing photo. So just an FYI, the little bubble looking thing in the glass above the check mark is actually the proximity sensor. Don't go returning it ^_^
Gets very annoying, when you get off the phone.
-Monky_1
I was wondering where that was haha, nice find.
I just noticed this today and like you I kinda flipped out for a second and thought I had some defect... than I realized what it was haha
I thought it was a defect the first time I saw it.

I dabble in photography and have enough of lint-free lens wipes lying around. I spray a wipe with just a little bit of lens cleaning liquid and use that to wipe down the phone, then use a clean wipe to dry it out. It makes the screen sparkle and also removes oil smudges off the back and sides.

Not sure, haven't tried it.
You could also use glass wipes of the kind available in CVS or Lenscrafters. CVS has wipes under their own brand that work quite well for cleaning my reading glasses. They are not dripping wet but moist enough to do the job.
i use alcohol wipes on my white one , would imagine it would work for yours
Any suggestions for the back? I assumed when the OP said grey One X they meant the back anyways, cause I don't see any reason why the color of the device would change anything in relation to the screen...

Camera Lens Glass cracked

I cracked the glass on my camera lens. What can be done about fixing it??
I know insurance covers it, but only if I pay the $200 deductible. HTC can fix it for next to nothing in cost, but that requires I mail the phone to california, wait for it to be fixed and for them to mail it back.
I have found the entire back portion of the phone available on eBay for $40 however after closer look, these are all for the HTC One X, not the HTC One XL.
I was talking to a friend of mine and he says the glass is just a very thin piece of protection and you really dont need it so I should just remove it. As it is now, the camera takes extremely blury photos. Any ideas on how best to fix this? If the glass is not important, I might just remove it entirely but it'd be nice if I could fix it somewhat cheaply.
i have to ask how the hell did you crack your lens cover

I'm pretty sure it happened while I was working. I keep my phone clipped into my seidio active holster. The case keeps the phone protected quite well. I've dropped the phone from the height of 4-8' several times, without any adverse effects.
I know the night I was working on a large data/phone cabling job, I am sure I did not drop it. But when I went to take my photos, they all came out blury and I found its cracked. Has two cracks, forming sort of an X. I would bet you that it happened while I was working on the hard tile floor and rolled over on top of something hard like one of my tools or something. Possibly. Still unsure.

I did call AT&T warranty, I was told that they do not cover small issues like cracked glass on the camera lens. They will only replace the phone if it was not working... like a bad micro usb port or something. If I was more sleezy than I already am, I would break it so that I can get it replaced. But I'm not doing that.

Theres the link. According to my research, you cannot so easily just replace the glass. You have to replace the entire back cover, as its all in one.

I don't know if it's a good idea to be using chemicals on the Digitizer. Best to use a screen protector or learn to live with it I'd say.
I use a liquid screen protector. Doesn't really fill in scratches well but it gives you peace of mind.
Don't use a polish on the phone, you'll just scratch it more.

That was always my thought on scratch removal tricks or products for smartphone screens. I've never tried it (usually use a screen protector), but it seems like something that would do as much harm as good.
