thanx for viewing
When I try to install, it says that the app doesn't was installed, so I went to Root Explorer, and I put it in /system/app and change the permissions to rw-r--r-- and the problem was solved ^.^
Thanks a lot

My LG Optimus one, running offical cyanogenmod 7, and rooted. Using es file explorer, as it worked for my galaxy gio.
Edit: JUST wiped dalvik cache, do i need to do something else? ie delete ADW launcher and replace with launcher2?

No definitely do not delete the real launcher. Dalvik shouldn't be causing the issue as its just cache. Sometimes this happens, the app just doesn't work. Um...try a different app, although es file usually works on all my devices. Or...you could tty flashing it although I have no idea how to make a flash able zip.
nice one for backup

I have a Motorola Photon, and I had tried to get the old Market backet back with a process I found in the forum. It didn't work, and somewhere along the line I lost the Market all together. I tried wiping the phone back to factory and the Market app did not come back. I tried to just install a version from 4Shared, but still doesn't work with any version I install. It says that "com.android.vending has quit unexpectedly" and then it FC's. It only seems to do this when I go to download an app. I can browse and search fine with no problems, just no downloading!! I admit I'm a noob, and probably messed with something I shouldn't, but I figured this would be a nondestructive thing to learn on. Man was I wrong!! This sucks...please help me!!
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Did your phone rooted ? if rooted just backup all ur apps, and flash custom rom back. that way will restore all basic app. wait, did u try install market.apk ?

Yes...I was rooted but no custom rom. I don't know how to do that yet. This is going to sound stupid, but what exactly is a custom rom? After I wiped to factory condition I tried to install a vending.apk from 4shared and that still gives me same error. I will uninstall again and try a market.apk now. Is that the same as vending.apk?
A factory reset will only delete user data, it won't put back something that has been removed. You need to get the vending apk for the version you want and instead of installing it normally put it in /system/app. You can do so using Root Explorer or another root level file explorer. If you don't have one installed, I can post the apk of a free one for you. Mount system as r/w and copy/paste the apk into /system/app, then set permissions to rw-r--r--, then reboot. You should have your market back up & running.

That's what I originally tried to do and didn't work, but I will try it again...If you could post an apk of the market you know is good that would be great. Can u post an apk of a root explorer also? I havent checked 4shared yet. Is there another free download service other than 4shared? Thanks for your help!!
Just download Market and install it. If it FC then check the permissions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231290
(It's the new market btw. I know you don't want it, but you don't really have a choice at the moment)
Ok so this is weird!! I left the Market that wasn't working installed by mistake. I installed the OTA update that Motorola did, and then re-rooted my phone again. Now the Market is working for the most part!!! Only thing is...it FC's every time iot installs an app. It downloads and installs, but right after it installs it FC's!! It doesn't always close all the way...sometimes just goes to Market home screen. All the functionality seems to be working though, so I can deal with that.
Does anybody know why after the OTA update I can only get EDGE instead of 3G on a Rogers SIM card?
Did you clear Google Services Framework data and Market data?
So I am running TPC V3 and I really miss my Memo application. How do I get it back without re-flashing? I have extracted it from the stock dump but it will not install so I am probably doing something wrong??
Push it through Root explorer!
OR dload titanium backup and see there if you can reinstall it from there.

I have memo.apk. I have tried running it to install it, pushing it to system/app, changing permissions, rebooting etc., but it keeps FC'ing.
A step by step would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
All I did was copy it to /system/app and then I had to reboot. After reboot it worked fine. Maybe try a different memo.apk possibly the one you have is bad. I think I got mine from my Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and used that one. I can upload it if you want to try it.

Try removing the com.google.android.etc.etc apk from the Settings -> Apps -> Downloaded tab.
You can also try force closing/clearing data from Browser if it still shows up under Settings -> Apps -> All
Failing that, back up your important data, download the latest .zip file from ASUS, and follow the directions they have posted for it. I guess that should work.

com.google.android.etc is not there. Browser does not show up anywhere in my apps. Pulling my hair out.
So if I'm on 4.1 right now and I download the latest zip from Asus, that will not trigger an update since they already match right?
When I look at the Android Manifest in root explorer for Browser, it says Versionname:4.0.3-ww epad
SHouldn't that be 4.1??

Can someone PLEASE go into Root Explorer in system\app and grab the "Browser.apk" as well as the other "Browser..." file what ever it was. It is located right under "Browser.APK", I just don't remember the extension. I don't remember coz I wiped them both out. I think I had the older version of the file residing in there and hence wasn't able to install it.
Can someone please kindly do that for me and post? Thank you.

Are you running a deodexed custom ROM? Because otherwise, Browser.odex must also be there.
I'm running CleanROM 1.2, which says it's De-Odexed

GREAT MANY thanks Husker! Actually I was able to downgrade to .30. Once downgraded, I got my browser back. Now it's already detected an update and I'm going back to JB.
Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
Hi guys,
I am trying to install the Asus PadFone clock apk, which requires being in system apps.
I pushed it to system/apps and set permissions to rw/r/r and rebooted- nothing happened
I tried wiping cache and dalvik cache but still nothing.
I used root explorer to push it
Any suggestions?
EDIT:
Never mind, I solved the problem. It turns out the APKs I was pushing needed to be de-odexed before I could use them.

After the file is in /system/app/ and you set permissions, install it manually from there then reboot.

Are you running Stock? If you are then you won't be able to install a system app like that. Happened to me, and trust me it really sucks. Only other real solution I found was to flash a custom ROM for example CM 10. You could also try getting a flashable zip file for the apk and try installing it that way. That could work.
Let me know how it all works out for you,

I have it installed, however I have no idea how you manually install an app with it.
Should I try to make it into a flashable zip?
For some reason the Camera app on my galaxy 2 10.1 keeps throwing an error when I try to launch it.
It says can't connect to camera and I just get to close the APP.
I tried rebooting the tablet - it didn't help. Also tried clearing the cache for the APP and it didn't make a difference.
Running SlimKat rom 4.4.4.
Can someone shed some light for me on how to fix this issue?

Sometimes (this worked on a different ROM for the 7 inch version, but its worth trying) installing Google camera to system/app and removing stick camera works (always nandroid backup first so if something goes wrong you dont have to reflash.)

EDIT: also, did you clean flash or dirty flash SlimKat?

Clean flash Kitkat, can't recall if the camera worked or not when I first flashed it but I'm pretty sure it did. So it just randomly stopped.
Where does one obtain Google Camera? Right in the playstore?
And can I just uninstall the stock Camera app using the Dev tools of the rom?

Yes, google camera is in the play store. It actually probably does not need to be installed as a system app. Idk what tools are in SlimKat ATM but I've always just gone into es file explorer as root or used root explorer, mounted / and /system as R/W and deleted the camera apk from /system/app. Then just wipe cache and Dalvik in recovery and reboot. This may or may not fix the problem, but it worked for me. Again, make a backup first.

Don't install it with package installer. If you installed it from the Play Store, cut the apk from /data/app and move it to /system/app and change the permissions to the same as the other apps in folder. Google camera shouldn't matter though.

google camera is not compatible with our tabs....even if you do get it installed its pretty useless IMO. Grab your ROM zip and go into it and find your camera.apk. unzip it to your sd card and then go back in and long press it and reinstall it. It may (did for me) work that way. If not try another (different) ROM. Grab zip file go in and find the camera apk under apps, unzip and then reinstall. NOTE: for me, I had to go into Titanium and completely remove the camera app that i had and then do the above procedure. I trial and errored it and it worked for me. Finally
Edit: and yes, please nandroid backup b4 trying anything
