CyanogenMod 2012-05-27 Works with 2012 Baseband - T-Mobile LG G2x

I can confirm that nightly 2012-05-27 build works with March 2012 Baseband.
I am able to make calls.
Download here
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=p999

Not that I don't trust OP, but has anyone else had success with the latest nightly?

It works, RC3 and Nightly 5/27 both have calling working with the March 2012 baseband

I have confirmed this before. Honestly I though it was public knowledge already.

Like I said in another thread, Ricardo accidentally fixed the radio since rc3, until we here otherwise, any release beyond rc3 will work with new bb

I'm more concerned about rc3 working with the old basebands... hopefully rc4 will work with both if that's a possibility. I'm no dev so I don't have any insight as to whether its even possible but here's to hoping
Pin it to Win it.

I guess now I can upgrade to the new baseband.
CM7 is my favorite ROM variant.
I'd care about the ICS Roms but I don't really. I use the camera on the phone ALOT.
I'll upgrade eventually but will hold on to my old BB.

id be more concerned about the old ROMs working with the new baseband. i like having working GPS lol but having the ability to switch basebands and still make phone calls would be nice. i just hope RC4 fixes BT calling. i dont wanna get a ticket.

True story. I have given up on flashing new basebands on this wind phone cause my antenna has always been fine...
Pin it to Win it.

I just moved to nightly 0527 and March 2012 baseband today as well.
I wonder if ICS kangs that are synced to source within the last few days will include this capability.

Are you saying RC3 does NOT work with the old baseband?

Yes, it will NOT WORK with July BB

To my knowledge rc3 works with the new bb and not the old ones.

The problem is in gingerbread because gingerbread
doesnt support bluetooth input devices and it was added
in cyanogenmod 7 (ricardo told me)
sorry to be the voice of doom
I already asked the creator of the app about if this was possible to port this to froyo/GB and this is what he told me.....
sir_earl said:
The problem isn't so much with Froyo or Gingerbread, but more specifically with LG. I have managed to make some LG devices work (such as the Optimus 2x), but unfortunately the bluetooth chip in the LG Thrill is different and the stack LG is using is very limited. It would certainly be possible to port the stack from CM7 over to the stock rom, but whether or not that will ever happen depends on the dev community behind the LG Thrill.

It's possible then. Only someone has to figure out how. Is it really that difficult to get the bluetooth related files/drivers/whatever from the CyanogenMod and make it an installable zip package which then we can use to flash over a stock rom?

ROMs with BUILT IN BB fix

The new BB can be tricky at times, there are certain ROM's that have the fix built in, or ROM's that claim to be made specifically for the new BB...this is where the confusion comes in.
So here are the ROM's that i've seen that already have the new BB incorporated:
-EB Build 4 (you choose which BB to flash during installation)
-[ROM][GB 2.3.7][v21y] Miui.us 6-7-12
-MokeeOS R.282
-Owain's (Build 79 will have new BB support)
So are there any other ROM's that you do NOT need to flash the BB fix? The new CM7.2 RC3 has the new BB supported within the ROM, correct?
Some more obvious ROM's that support new baseband
Stock 2.3.4 v21y
Kwes1020 Rooted Stock 2.3.4 v21y
BuRom SLIGHTLY Modded Stock 2.3.4 v21y
All Cyanogenmod versions since 7.2.0 RC3
Possibly the CM Nightly just before the May 26 RC3 version
Anything else if you use Owain's baseband fix...
I have used lots of the Cyanogenmod Nightlies because they can be dirty flashed from one update to the next. I also Nandroid back to BuRom or Stock 2.3.4 sometimes to help my wife :highfive: when she gets confused about something on her stock G2x.

It supports the March 2012 and July 2011 BB...unless Ricardo has updated to include the BBs from our Canadian neighbors...and would solve their calling issues they're having...

I bricked my phone the other day running some CPU stability test within the Mokee 2.3.7 ROM I listed above, something happened and the phone turned off, couldn't get power to come on no matter what. Luckily ADB still worked and I was able to get it going again using the flash.bat fix that takes v21e and turns it into a flashable ROM through ADB.
Either way, when I booted up the phone, I had 2.3.3, but still had v21y March 2012 listed under the baseband. I believe everything is good to go, I haven't flashed the v21y.kdz because I don't know if I actually need to.
I'm running Mokee again and his ROM states the new BB fix is incorporated with the ROM, i have no issues with signal and phone call audio so I guess everything is the way it should be.
Some ROM's work with either baseband???
I think I understand what you are getting at...
Do some ROM's (which ones?) operate fine regardless of the baseband? That's something that is not always clear from looking at changelogs. I am usually pretty careful about reading a ROM's description in its OP. We do really need an organized listing of what ROMs work on each baseband...
As for Cyanogenmod, I believe that the RC3 from May 26 only supports the March 2012 baseband. I think I read on another thread that all the CM7 versions that followed RC3 are supposed to be backward compatible with the old baseband as well. I also think I read that EB lets you chose your baseband during the install (Aroma??). Could it be that Mokee detects the baseband and adjusts to allow your cell radio to work with either baseband ?
I am going to look into this stuff some more...

The first Mokee build (about 2 weeks ago) had different ROM's for different basebands. The following build, which was like 5 days ago, stated that there will only be one ROM, but will work with either baseband. Eagles Blood ICS Build 4 makes you choose which baseband during flashing.
Mokee is the only one i've seen so far that lets you use either baseband, and have no problems.
just to be clear on Eaglesblood, you arent choosing which baseband to install, you are choosing which baseband you want the rom to support. if you have the new BB then you will want the built in support from EB, otherwise you cant use your phone as a phone unless you apply Owains fix (which can be applied to ANY rom)
as for CM7 i think all of the builds since CM7.2-RC3 support the new BB. CM7.2 just went stable a couple of days ago so all new nightlies would be 7.3??
also like i said, you can apply Owains fix to any rom to get it to work with the new BB. if you are not sure the rom you installed will work with the new BB on your phone, just make a call. if it doesnt work, then apply Owains fix. if it does, then the rom likely supports the new BB or you are still on the old one
would anyone know which V21Y roms having working BT calling? i know CM does not, therefore, since many roms are based on CM, many roms dont have working bt calling. i know Kwes's, burom, and stock all work though since they are based on stock rom.

Everyone with the new baseband with a rom other than v21y has the issue. The inly resolution so far is to downgrade to an earlier baseband, perferably oct 24th or july
Doh, seems I should have read a few more threads on this before doing the upgrade.
Honestly.. everything was work ok.. before I upgraded.. I do think call quality is better on the new BB.. but enough that I want BT gone.. no..
so I need a original upgrade or restore file with an earlier bb on it eh? I will check the dev section.. hopfully there is a thread with it.
Now, I could run the 2.3.4 with the BB and BT works? I could put CWR on it.. so I am still rooted... even run a Faux kernel I guess? I just wont have all the CM settings - correct?

I'm using the v21e (Jul 15, 2011) baseband. Guess I should stick with that?

need some quick help with this one

took both mine and my wifes g2x back to 2.3.4 stock. ran the updated baseband on both but for some reason her's still isn't making/receiving calls. also her baseband is showing jul 15 2011.
i did this to hers last night and didn't bother checking it. now shes on a 8 hour road trip with our 2 girls and has no phone.
i also tried the lg support tool but the phone has a jacked up charger port and would never connect to my computer.
If she has the July 2011 baseband try putting the 2.3.3 ROM on it or if she still has CWM installed flash this on her 2.3.4 ROM and see if it fixes it http://db.tt/abISGgzB

If she's still on the 2011 baseband then any cyanogenmod rom should work as well... her phone wont work because she has a v21e baseband and is running a v21y rom.
This has been the cause of alot of confusion on the forums the last couple months.
Hope it works out.

I'm not positive that is entirely correct, I haven't been around here much but last time I checked that latest CM nightlys only work with the latest 21y baseband.
she's on stock 2.3.4. lets not worry about custom roms cause there is no way im talking her through downloading and installing a rom
what i don't get is i used the same zip file to do both of ours. after doing the exact same thing on both i ran getril and mine passed but heres did not. mine is good with 21y and her's prompted for 21e.
is it just a simple fix of her d/l'ing 21y through getril?

Like I said before she needs a v21e based rom not a v21y based rom.
And no all new cm aren't only for the new baseband.
Just because its a custom rom doesn't mean its any more complex or unstable, in fact with this garbage device the custom roms are more stable than the stock ones as far as I'm concerned.

this is about retarded that we are both on the same rom, but mine runs 21y fine and her's won't run 21y or 21e.

Only use the one's from the Verizon section, not the international variant section. The only ones I'm aware of are Evolutionmods (checkm8) kernel and Fauxs kernel. Personally I use Evolutionmods 2.8 ghz kernel and downclocked to 2.4 but both are good.
