[Q] Virtuous Inquisition + DSP Manager - HTC Sensation

Hey,
Have anybody installed DSP Manager in VI 4.02? At the moment, I'm trying out HyperNonSense 2.8 and I really like the DSP Manager...but VI is my favourite ROM so far and I would really like to have DSP in VI.
I don't know how to install it, anybody have any idea? Can I just extract the DSP from HyperNonSense add-ons package and give it a try?

I don't use dsp, but do a backup and try it. I use Volume+ with no issues on VI 4.0.2.

Okay, I'll try it.

I am using Parinoid Android which is based off CM9 Android 4.0.4 and it has the DSP-Manager in it. I plan on testing the DSP_Manager some today. I will let out know what my opinion is on it after I do. I was checking it out some this morning and I see why galaxys said make a backup before you use it too. You can not reset the EQ if you adjust it and you can not select to have no enhancements on if you choose one.

Can you post a link to that app, I only see Volume+ free or paid as v1.9.0.0 or v1.9.0.1. Thanks
Edit: Never mind I had a momentary laps of consciousness lol. I realize noe that is just a earlier version.

t-mac...
I have the latest free Volume+ version. The VI 4.0.2 is RMK40's Rom!

I did try to install the DSP_Manager.apk from the HyperNonSense add-on zip...it works but not that good...whenever I enable, say Dynamic Compression or Bass Enhancements it turns down the volume several steps...and when I untick any of those two selections, it goes right up to max volume.
In the HyperNonSense add-on package there are more files than just the .apk file...I guess I might need them as well.
Do you think I can make a new .zip-library of those files and flash it? (Have no idea on how to make flashable zips)

i was on HNS and i am a fan of DSP manager. even had it on my DHD. now im on VI and the Play Music app is not that bad with the built in equilizer. even tho it has less features than DSP. better than Beats Audio IMHO.

DSP Manager Equalizer for Android

A stand alone equalizer. It works by default for all sound and can be disabled, if desired. This version allows independent equalizer for the headphone, speaker, and bluetooth. (New GB apk version contains additional settings.) I am not the DSP Manager dev…just making it available for those whose ROM doesn't include and would like to try and see if it works for them.
Should work on many ROMs and newer phones. You must be Rooted…Make a Nand Backup…I’m not responsible for problems...YMMV
For Froyo: Flash zip file like ROM, kernel, theme, etc. The proper Froyo library files will be added along with the app. Suggest you wipe cache and dalvik cache. If you have an older version in my test it appears you can flash over it and it will overwrite older files and update it. As always recommend NAND backup first.
For Gingerbread: Install apk file. Newer Android GB ROMs (appears to work up through GB 2.3.5) are no longer dependent on audio library files to be added to get DSP working. You should be able to just install a DSP apk to get it working. I've attached an apk. Do Not Use the Zip...that's for Froyo ONLY. As always recommend NAND backup first.

i dont think for my kind of usage an equalizer will make much difference...BUT, i'm interested in being able to raise the volume of the speaker...is that something I can get done with this app? and if so, can the volume really be increased any noticeable amount without risking damaging the speaker?
thanks in advance!
gonna give it a whirl on a few different sound systems, never use headphones though so don't know how helpful this will be.

Yes, but without the library file included it does absolutely nothing.
crap....submitted twice..sry
Is there a newer version that works over Bluetooth?
yes actually if you check out Vaelpak it has been using this in the last few updates before it showed up in EVIO 1.3. so if you are looking for it w/bluetooth its in that rom. try it out or at least thats were a newer version is available

You could raise the gain to increase "apparent" volume but with these tiny speakers probably shouldn't do too much.

Thanks for posting this trying on Burnt Droid 1.2..

Since you know how to do this stuff with ROM building you may want to go to devs site http://bel.fi/~alankila/android-dsp/ and get newest source http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_DSPManager. That even includes equalizer for bluetooth devices. If you do and could create a flashable zip with the newest version sure would like to have to post here for others to use as a stand alone.
Jim
Thanks for submitting.
Installed and working fine on headset...will try out speaker when I get out of the library.
In the meantime...how can I uninstall this? After flashing it pandora force closes and won't open at all. Need to uninstall to diagnose what is causing the problem...
If I have to pick dsp or pandora I pick pandora!
Swyped from an HTC Evo on MetroPCS...

Look in first post...depends on whether you relied on nand backup or did manual backup of appropriate file.

Ha I did neither....but I had just backed up my whole rom yesterday so I'll put back the file when I get home and see if that fixes pandora

Did you by chance try unchecking compression and equalizer and try Pandora...that should be no effect-stock.

[Q] Can you/how to Install DSP Manager(With bass boost) on MIUI

Hey guys, I was just wondering if there was a way to Flash/Install DSP Manager onto my MIUI ROM for my EVO. I've used CM7(rc4) and Myn's warm 2.2, but only CM7 had DSP Manager with Bass Boost. MIUI does not even have DSP Manager on it. I'm a big Dubstep/Electro listener and Bass Boost does wonders. Whenever i'd try to install the .APK to my phone it says (Parse error: There is a problem parsing the package.) Can anyone tell me what this means or how to get around it? Any help would be great. Thanks
I'm using MIUI 1.4.29 and i have DSP Manager. It came with the ROM (i think 'cause i haven't installed it myself). Using MrGaraks Desire HD ROM.

[Q] DSP manager on stock ROM

Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to install DSP manager on a stock ROM (rooted)? If not, is there another alternative on NS to boost bass? On Galaxy S I had "Galaxy Tuner" and it was awesome... Too bad it doesn't work on NS.
Voodoo sound v9 with hardware EQ sounds awesome.
Does Voodoo sound have an equalizer now? I tried to find a change log for v9, but their XDA page ends at v7...
Just found out that Voodoo Control Plus works on any kernel (including stock - just needs root) and has a Bass boost! Awesome!
No need for any special kernels or voodoo. Just take the DSPmanager apk file from the latest nightly and save it to your SD card. Browse to it using a file manager on your phone and select to install it. Works just fine for boosting sound. Been using it on stock rooted when I first got the phone and ns4g nightly was not available yet.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Thanks. Tried DSP Manager from nightlys - installes and works fine, even though effect of equalizer is very subtle. Voodoo Plus works as well.

[Q] Help! I've some questions before installing a new ROM to my HTC Sensation 4G

Hello developers!!!
First of all details of my phone:
HTC Sensation 4G (T-Mobile), HBOOT 1.27.1111, Bootloader unlocked, Android 4.0.3, CWM Recovery, Stock Rom, Firmware 3.32, Joupunutbear S-OFF.....
I want to install a very common ROM, ARHD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849) so before I want that you developers answer me some questions (quite I'm a little noob, ergo, I'm a noob-1 hehehe).
1. ¿Can I get Beats Audio in my phone?
If this is true, ¿how can I manipulate the volume levels? (like in other normal phones entering into Engineering Mode ..... in order to 'maximize' the sound of the speaker (the audio is very slow/hardware issue)).
2. Actually I use "CPU Tuner" app in order to 'save' a little my battery power... But it seems that the app drains more battery than normal (without app)... ¿Which app did you recommend me? (similar to CPU tuner.... but please, a GOOD app).
3. [!] The Sensation in general has 768 MB RAM (583MB system + 185MB ¿video?)..... ¿Is possible to get a little more RAM memory for the system? (with a mod, I think so .... ergo, a bit more than 583MB for system)
Ok developers, thank you for your answers .... Thanks for all!!!!
1. You can install beats audio via an app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motioncoding.beats&hl=en). You really don't have to flash ARHD to get beats audio...
If you get the beats audio app from the play store, do not buy the pro version because it does NOT work on the sensation.
2. I recommend setCPU. The apk file is here: http://www.4shared.com/android/jSoK5Mya/SetCPU_for_Root_Users_309.htm
3. I would enable zRAM if your kernel supports it. Read this if you want to know a little more about ram: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...tutorial-for-ram-and-performance-enhancement/
Use this kernel if yours doesn't support zRAM compression: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216197
To enable zRAM, go to system settings, performance, memory management, then tick the zRAM box.

I know you stated you want to install ARHD, but personally I would recommend flashing ViperS 1.6.3. During the installation you can choose what kind of kernel, governor, etc, you want. There's even a little explanation as to what the differences are (eg. battery saver, performance, etc) There are a lot of customization options and you can choose which parts of Sense you want (I never use HTC Stocks, HTC Watch, so I deleted them)
If you're looking to increase RAM, don't use zRAM, they recently found out that it doesn't really help you, but actually hurts performance (or at least, so I have read) I would recommend using TURBO-BOOST mod. That will enable you to use unused cache and/or data partitions as a swap RAM.
So, ViperS + TURBO-BOOST mod, for great software experience and a ton of customization options

Thanks Toeslit for your answer!! :good:
Yeah, I've founded another ROM (Vipers) and I saw via screenshots that 'that' ROM is more customisable, has more mods and improves general performance. (add, I like a phone which GUI can be customisable!!!! like in my old Motorola L6i)
Also I've founded a difference between ARHD and Vipers ... both ROM's are excellent (according to comments)...
So I'll find more comments and more about Vipers.
-----------------------------
About "Turbo boost"... hhmmmm I never heared about that mod, I'll search for about it!
Thank you very much!! ... for your recommendation, thanks!!! :silly:
--------------------------------
PD: Toeslit, from your "personal recommendation", with the Vipers ROM ¿is possible to make that the S.O. runs with less Ram consuption? (eg. that the system runs with only 150~210 mb of RAM)...
If you want the system to use less RAM, just remove all the Sense features you don't need. 150-200MB for system is a bit optimistic I think On my phone 500 out of 768 (or 315 out of 581) is used for system, but I deleted only Stocks and Watch. Just try out a couple of different setups, so you can see the differences in performance and remember to back up your current ROM
You can read about TURBO-BOOST here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145133

Hmm...the link is not working, and I can't seem to find it on the Google play store wen I search "beats audio".
I will have the apk files uploaded then...
WARNING:
I tried installing the Beats Audio Pro on my sensation but it did not work. Since this app (pro version or not) changes some files in your phone, you need to make a Nandroid backup before you install this app.
The regular(free) version works well on my phone and you can definitely tell the difference.

[Q] Equalizer Issues

Hey guys! I'm running the 4.2 beta official PA as well as Franco's r34 kernel. For some reason I can't get any equalizer to work. I've flashed Awesome beats, Infinity sounds, and viper. None of them work. Awesome beats crashes as soon as I hit play in Google play music, Infinity sounds won't let any audio play, and viper world's for awhile then stops. Any suggestions on want to do or a equalizer to try?
Anybody?
Best to ask in the PA thread. This is pretty general q and a
Most likely an issue with the ROM

As far as Viper, did you install the driver after the app?
I have also had to set it to compatibility mode and restart to get it to work with Google Music.
Honestly, it does sound great, but it's a PITA to use, and won't be reinstalling with the next ROM. Still won't work with Slacker, either.

Although I'm not using PA I'm using Franco and Viper4Android. Your comment that V4A stops suggests you did not install it properly. The apk must be installed in "/system/priv-apps". In the themes and apps section you can even find a flash file that will install it properly plus there is quality advise on resolving issues.

What he means by "correctly" is that in kit kat, we've found viper needs to be a priv-app so a normal install isn't sufficient. He didn't mean any disrespect. Unless you've read the viper thread in themes and apps, you probably wouldn't know about this.

If you are referring to making it a "system app" yes that is how I installed it. I just used the flashable zip hopefully that fixed it.
