stuck on coredroid boot screen

I have tried to flash to the coredroid and it will boot up to the animated boot screen but will not go any further than that. i have tried to flash it several times i am using CWM 3.0.2.5 i have performed a full wipe as well. what am i doing wrong?

What you are doing wrong is not using the search feature on the forum before posting.

Maybe i did but still couldnt find the answer. Im not new to forums. Ivee tried reflashing it several times as the coredoid post says and that didnt work so what am i to do now

First....update Clockwork
then...wipe data/factory reset (in Recovery)
then...wipe cache partition
then...flash it once more and if it does not work try re downloading the ROM because there is a possibility some important files are corrupted...

All of which was available by doing a search ^
You can also add try a different rom to the above list.

I have done all on that atleast twice. I had just redownloaded the rom last night

this is a ext3/4 rom Is your sd card formated properly? If its version 6.6 ( the latest) try using version 6.5 first as this will format the sd card for you.. back up your sd card first just to be sure you don't lose your information. in CWM mount the sd card and copy to computer.. Hope this helps.

Already stated previously but worth another try. Install another ROM, maybe one that is almost stock. Then try Coredroid again.
I also suggest you ask in the Coredroid forum. Good luck.

are you flashing through rom manager or cwm ?

I have the same issue, i used rom manager, did the wipe.. and its just stuck on the animation loop.
If anyone could help, it would be appriciated.

Got it going, I did a recovery, then updated with coredroid v7.0.. Works very well.. no problems here.
By the way, I'm digging the new layout.

Hey - has anyone tried using SUPERWIPE on NEXUS S?

I have been having some problems with CWM not always wiping properly, and then me getting FCs and laggy responsiveness after installing well-rated ROMs.
Superwipe is said to do a better job, but does not seem to be for the NEXUS S per se, which is why I ask.

Not needed if you use a sacrificial lamb and do the aztec dance...

I used to use wipe zips until some versions of CM9 refused to install/boot afterwards. Now I manually mount and format data, system, cache, and boot prior to installing a rom. Haven't had a problem since switching to this method.

Super wipe is overkill and not needed . Most recoverys work great to wipe and flash any rom fine.

Wiping storage ain't like wiping your ass, 1 wipe suffices.

It seems that I have never wiped 'Boot' in CWM and i have gone through countless custom ROMS by different makers.
Maybe that's the problem (I normally just do 'factory reset' and 'wipe Dalvik')
Is it true that if you wipe 'boot' in CWM (or if using the full wipe all script), that you need to have already put your new ROM on your SD card because you MUST follow a wipe of 'boot' straight away with an install of a new ROM, else you will brick your phone?

Oh, one final question - have you guys ever in CWM hit 'format sdcard' to fine that once you boot up and browse your SD card the format didn't work?

My ROMs have never been on the root of my SD card (I like to organize all my ZIPs in folders)... Probably not a good idea haha. And I have always wiped boot last... never been bricked. I've been boot looped but that's always been a bad ZIP file's fault. And I make NANDROIDs for just such loops.

Same thing for me.
And CWM wipes works perfectly. Don't be so lazy men.

Just do it this way.
One clicks and wipe zips will fail so you should learn what they are doing in case you need to do it yourself.

G2X can't load custom roms, freezes at flash screen

No matter what custom rom I try to load on my G2X, it will go through, install the rom, and then when it reboots past the LG screen, it gets to whatever custom boot screen in on the rom, and just locks up. The only way I can get it to boot after that point is to NVFlash back to stock.
Tried searching through this site and google, but can't find a solution.

You need to say what the process is that you attempted to do. Wipes and what not.

Rooted phone, added Clockwork, booted into CW recovery, did data and cache wipes, installed CM7 from SD card, rebooted, phone froze at custom boot screen. Reboot, still frozen. Would not boot at all.
Used NVFlash to reinstall stock image on phone, rooted phone, CW recovery, data and cache wipes, installed a different rom for my phone model, same result. Back to stock using same process, tried a third rom using same process, same result, frozen phone that won't go beyond boot screen.
Using this same process on my old T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant, it worked perfectly on several different roms.

It sounds like you may have a ROM for a different model phone. Can you send a link to the ROM that you downloaded for us to see?
Also, is your phone a T-Mobile G2x or an LG Optimus 2x (O2x).

It is a T-mobile G2X, LG-P999DW.
The CM7 link was straight from the CM7 site, it wasn't an experimental mod or anything, it was the stable one listed under the G2X.

Considering cm roms are supposed to wipe system prior to flash, I couldn't imagine what is going on. Try wiping system just in case and after that, try installing from internal as well. Other options would be download other ways, like on PC or from phone transfer the files differently. Other then that can't really help you.

The last time I pulled it directly on my phone, the other times I downloaded via my PC and then copied the file. Had been via external so I tried internal that last time too. I'm close to madness, but I'm also too stubborn to give up.
I was thinking maybe I need to replace the kernel, but I'm not sure whether that's the problem or which Kernel to try if I did need to.

I had a similar issue on a tablet of mine. What version of CWM are you using? Are you using the touch version? The touch version has had some boot problems. Did you try partition the SDCard in the advanced settings? I forget which I used on my phone. Has anyone else partitioned theirs?

Well, not knowing which peice is broken let me just recap my process for you and see how it works:
1. Use OneClick NVFlash from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847 and select Flash CWM 5.0.2.0
2. Boot to CWM
3. format cache
4. format data
5. format system
6. format Dalvik cache
7. flash ROM from external/internal memory
8. flash kernel (optional, not required unless doing kernel testing)
9. flash gapps-package
10. fix permissions
11. reboot
I have not had this process screw up once for me so far. If this process does not work for you then you leave me really be scratching my skull...

don't root and then try. mostly roms come with super user access so try without rooting it manually.

[Q] diffrence between twrp and clockwork mod?

what is the diffrence between twrp and clockworkmod? ever since i started rooting and flashing all ive known is clockworkmod....but it wont work with some of my apps like rom toolbox to flash roms....its telling me to use twrp......whats the diffrence though? i tried twrp touch once and it bricked my phone......so what is the diffrence? which one is better? should i get it? is there any risk on roms not being flashable with twrp? if so can i get the latest link and how to? i realize these might all be opinions but would really like to hear what you all have to say...thanks

I've never used an app to flash a Rom. I prefer to go to recovery myself, so I know what gets wiped. I've tried twrp a couple times before, but my phone didn't play nice with it, and it would refuse to boot, telling me there was no recovery or boot img loaded.

Flash it thru fastboot or use the app "flash image gui" it is a paid app on the market, but has also been offered here on xda by the dev for free. I haven't used the app in awhile, but it worked for me back on ics when I used it last.
If you use fastboot it's fastboot flash recovery recovery.img just make sure to use the actual recovery img file name instead of "recovery.img" at the end

Use this guide

I use twrp and have for months. If your phone got bricked you probably did something wrong. Most likely flashed the wrong image. Use the goomanager app from the market to install the twrp. Open the app press menu and select install open recovery script option. Works like a charm.

They are just both recoveries that you can use on your device. TWRP is based on the stock recovery and is all touch compatible whereas ClockWorkMod or CWM for short is a recovery where it does all the same features but some features of it are not available whereas in TWRP they are and vise versa. I use TWRP and I personally think that it is better than CWM any day. Yes like you I started of knowing only what CWM is but then I researched and found TWRP. I used TWRP ever since.
Although there are some disadvantages and Advantages of the both.

The Advantages of CWM is that the backups are all in a way "linked" together. This means if you have the app swype for example and you backed that rom up that has Swype, and then made another backup of another ROM but with the same app Swype CWM recognizes that and uses the apk from the previous backup on the new one. So according to me it makes the backup faster.
Also there is a feature which is Fixing Permissions. TWRP has Fixing Permissions but it is not really that well made. With the Fixing Permissions it lets you fix apps that stop or like crash when you try and launch them. That helps when you flash a custom ROM and when you boot you get all these errors like "YouTube has stopped".
TWRP:
The advantages of TWRP is that it is all touch compatible and all "open source" in a way. I'm not sure about CWM but in TWRP you can customize it very easily if you know XML, with CWM I don't know. With TWRP it uses less data or memory on your SD card so it saves space on your internal storage which is a bonus.

[Q] Changing Rom

I am currently running CM 10 and I want to switch roms but I am not sure how... I have 4EXT recovery and I'm not sure how to re-flash the rom.. Can someone help me?

Put the ROM zip to SD card. Go to recovery and do a factory reset. Then select the ROM zip and flash it.

You said you are running cm10 so its not the
first time that you change your rom. So you can flash the ROM without any problem.
But if your device is s-on you must flash
The rom with smartflash method. You can choose it in recovery. Sry for my bad English.

No.
Do not do a factory reset. This will just delete your user data. It will not delete the system data so if you try to install a new ROM overtop of an existing one that's different things could get messy. You want to do a full wipe, not just a factory reset.
The FIRST step is to make a backup of your currenr ROM. That way you can easily revert back to it as if you never left. This is valuable for many reasons. You may decide you don't like your new rom. Your new rom may have problems and not work properly and you'll want to go back to a working phone quickly. You may forget to back something up and will want to be able to extra some data from the backup (That's easy to do, but only if you have a backup). The list goes on and on.
Backing up your rom is super easy with 4EXT. You just tell it to back up your ROM and it will do the rest. It takes about 5 minutes.
Then you'll want to back up certain data that you'll want to use on your new ROM. Contacts, wifi access points, app data, text messages, etc etc etc. Whatever you want. Use Titanium Backup. It's super easy to use and works great. It will let you take all your apps and data off one ROM and put it onto another.
After you back up your rom, boot into recovery and do a full wipe using "format all partitions (except SD card)". The option is written exactly like that in the menu. You can't miss it. This will format the data and system files so you'll have a blank slate to install a new ROM from.
NOW flash the new rom. Then flash GApps if required. Boot the phone.
Download Titanium Backup from teh Play Store and use it to restore apps and data you want. (Your saves Titanium data will be ready to use when you install Titanium on the new ROM)
Enjoy your new ROM.

ust to confirm, instead of using 4EXT im using CWM recovery. I have read that 4EXT and CWM actually does the same job(recovery) so using CWM does not affect the subsequent steps right? (ie using Titanium Backup to back up messages and contacts and doing a full wipe). it will be the same process just using different recovery tool right?

In theory, yes. But some roms don't install properly from cwm and some absolutely require 4ext due to the use of aroma installer.
Just switch to 4ext. Takes 2 seconds to switch. The app doss all the work to install the recovery.

In my opinion 4ext is better than cmw but cmw show the aroma installer and install everything. But 4ext is better at all.

You don't even have to do all that if you're willing to buy the $3 4EXT app.
The guide you'll find will have to flash 4EXT with a PM58IMG file in the bootloader. It's easy enough. But you'll lack the app that goes with it that lets you manage your backups, control the recovery module, and update the recovery quickly and easily when new versions are available.
Just buy the 4EXT app on the play store, then from within the app tell it to install the 4EXT recovery module and it'll install the recovery for you quickly and easily.
Plus you're giving $3 to a developer who made a REALLY fantastic recovery and app for you.
