After reading a lot of reviews I figured out this tablet is very good, it has a reasonable price with good specs.
But I also read about the display issues on this tablet, like this thread and this thread
The issue is "flickering lines" on left edge of the screen. and people said this issue is fixed with the update .29
also in asus support site they say this update fixes "flickering screen" issue too.
so can you tell me is this information correct? does it really fix the problem?
i want to make sure this.
assuming that this update fixes the problem, how do i root my transformer pad tf300?
people say i can use sparkyroot (was used for the prime tf201) to root if the version is .17
but if it's .17 then it has the flickering display issue, so is there a way to root it but still have the version update .29 (i want to have my tablet rooted AND also have the latest update from asus, because i think update is important)
i heard that i can root it at .17, and use and app "root keeper" to "keep root", and then update, tablet will lose root, but use the app the get root back.
is this correct?
thank you
dont have any flickering issues.
i ust hope in the cm9 release they will allow for OC, so it can be as fast as the tf201

Yes. That's what I did. Root at .17, save root, upgrade to .29, reinstall root.
Assuming you won't unlock the bootloader, Aliaird is exactly right. If you do want to unlock the tablet, it doesn't matter. You can just flash the root zip in the CWM thread.
+1 alliard correct.
Unlock, however, voids your warranty permanently.
You do not have to unlock to root. If out of the box it's running .17 then hold off all updates till rooted.

Thank you guys

Voodoo OTA Root Keeper - it's in the market Edit: Market link https://play.google.com/store/search?q=ota+rootkeeper
here's the guide on how to use Sparky Root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633125
and here's the root thread for the TF300
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633125
another question: there's no home button on the tf300, so how do i exit full-screen apps? there's a "home button" on android ics at the bottom-left of the screen - in status bar, but what if i'm using a full-screen app, because there's no status bar, so how do i exit the app.
[sorry, never used android ICS before]
the taskbar is always present, the icons just kind of fade for full screen apps. only way to fully hide it is to use gmd gesture control once rooted.
The flickering issues are gone. You don't have to unlock to root with the old kernel, but it's really worth unlocking anyway because you're going to end up wanting CM9 once it's stable.
<3!
Sorry to threadjack, but I have a question related to a post.

I tried this app. It lists TF300 in the supported devices in the description, but it doesn't work. I gave it root permission and installed Titanium for Busybox (I know I could have installed Busybox separately, but Titanium seemed easiest), but no matter whether I set it to use Busybox or not, the taskbar never hid. The little message would pop up that I did the status bar gesture, but the status bar never did anything. Even manually pressing the toggle did nothing except flash the message that the status bar was hidden. The bar never disappeared.
I was using the lite version, but I never locked the tablet between starting the app and hiding the bar.
Am I doing something wrong?

Something completely different: first of all ask yourself why you want to have a tablet?
I have asked that question myself too and I thought I knew the answer, but now I know better.
I wanted a tablet to have a mobile version of a netbook (small, lightweight) with the possibility to sketch and read on it.
Now I have an android tablet I know I should have bought the Ipad. Not because I like Apple or the TF300T is a bad buy (absolutely not).
The app ecosystem is very, very underdeveloped when it comes to sophisticated sketch apps.
I love the TF300T for its value for money. But from a designers point of view it is severly hindered by the lack of proper apps in the Play Store.
If you are a designer, Ipad is IMHO the only choice. It's expensive, but the apps are sweeeet.
If you are not .. go for android and the TF300T is an exellent choice (even though I had to return it twice due to screen issues)

Try installing busybox separately. I couldn't get it to work with titanium backup's busybox.

so how do you make it appear while using full screen apps? will it appear if i just tap at the bottom of the screen? that would be annoying, because sometimes you accidentally do that.
is it better if i completely hide it and use button savior instead?
The app uses gestures to hide/unhide the status bar (hence the name "Gesture Control" ). The default gesture is to swipe up with three fingers.

It works fine for me. As already suggested try installing busybox separately.
Also make sure you press the option to use busybox at the bottom of the first screen you get when you open up the gesturecontrol app

Optioned checked but after I switch apps or a few minutes pass by it stops working . I don't mean the bar comes back but that the gesture is recognized, it tries to bring the bar back and nothing happens. I tried locking and coming back as well as manually clicking the toggle but it stays closed, the only way to bring it back being to reboot.
This is with SuperSU and the busybox box checked.

Prime's old rom used to have an option to disable tap to click on the touch pad for the dock. It doesn't as of ver 1.9, I really loved this feature. Is there anyway to get it back on the newer honeycomb roms?
My dock has a button on the top of the keyboard to disable touchpad. Top row, 4th button from the left between Bluetooth and Brightness
Cheers!
PS: Re-read post and guess its not what your looking for......sorry
There is an app called "input settings" that disabled touch to click. It's floating around here somewhere. It was included with some of the transformer custom roms, and I think the rom has to support it to use it. Check the rom threads for it.
I really like the the app, however it never saved it's settings upon reboot, so you have to reactivate it every time you boot. Absolutely awesome app though.
Yea I've looked for the input settings APK with no luck. Supposidly the kernel can be compiled with support for tap to click disabled. I don't want to disable the touchpad completely, just tap to click.
Unfortunately the code that was in the kernel has been removed. Probably something to do with the new pointer/gestures options and the app no longer works.
If I find a way to disable the tap to click I see if it can be implemented.
Is this 3.2 specific, or specific to the transformer? I'll start digging and see what I can find.
Has anyone found a solution to this wth 3.2? Just picked one of these guys up and the touchpad is useless if it's not disabled since I keep bumping it with my thumbs when I hit space.
As a continuation of discussions from the super thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006388), I present the build thread .
Introducing Vanir-Exodus for the Samsung Rugby Pro (comanche):
What works:
- Phone: All works. We can hang up, recieve and send calls.
- SMS/MMS: Image messaging works perfectly.
- Wifi
- Bluetooth
- NFC
- GPS
What's still broken:
- Camera: this has been a fun one...
- Screen rotation: Just disabled in the kernel currently
Screenshots:

- Kemonine96 - If you don't know by now, you haven't been around the comanche threads
- VanirAOSP team - Putting up with me as a pseudo-maintainer for so long
- Dave Kessler - Bringing up Exodus from the Vanir tree
Installation:
1. YOU MUST BE USING A RECOVERY THAT SUPPORTS SELinux. Currently, this is only the TWRP image I built before. I'll have the latest TWRP soonish.
2. BACKUP AND FACTORY RESET. Vanir checks for incompatible data and errors if it won't work. I won't answer "flash error" posts if you tell me you didn't format.
3. Flash the ROM, then GAPPs.
4. Enjoy the wonderment that is 5.0
Changelog:
1/10/15 - Fixed root access: The team was tinkering with a different root implementation, so gaining root became difficult. Root in this version works fine, but the UI is gone.
I really dislike sounding like a begger, but I could use your giys' help.
I'm currently building with 4GB of RAM, which as anyone who's source built can tell you, is quite low. Between the amount my onboard graphics eat, the file hosting and building, my RAM get's spent pretty quick.
What I'm currently looking at is a Gskill 16GB upgrade, which is about $140 max. This will not only speed up build times but help me run more things at once.
Never expected, always appreciated .
G.Skill Ares 16GB upgrade
Hey there. I thought I should post about the rom here instead of the super thread, no? Anyway, I have given it the two-three day daily test and it ran pretty good. The calls work great, recieve texts, e-mails fine. I took it out today and played soundcloud over bluetooth. It all ran great. But I do have a small list of things that didn't past the test.
These things are mostly small annoyances that I know will be fixed
The screen rotation only got a little annoying once it came to watching youtube videos, but I know that will be fixed
I still have some lost SD card issues and I can't really explain how it happens
The camera is still broken, but I know that will be fixed too
But I have had some big problems with the notifications. Its either that something is broken or I just haven't figured out Lollipop yet.
I can't seem to find an option to have the physical buttons flash as a notification light, I think there was an option for that in CM 10 (or am I wrong?)
I don't know how to change the quick settings panel in lollipop, is there a way to do that?
The notification tones don't work at all. The notification tone is selectable in the settings menu, but every time I get a text or email it doesn't go off
Phone ringtone is also selectable but nothing plays no matter what I set it to. it also doesn't play when I get a call
Heres a breakdown of the notifications on my phone
Call, screen comes on, no ringtone plays
Text, no screen comes on, no notification tone
E-mail, same as text
Also I get no vibrations. The phone vibrates while typing, but no vibration other than that for anything. I put the ring volume to vibrate and still nothing.
The count down clock and alarm tone does work though, and the alarm vibrates
Other than that, the phone works great. I have been using an older phone until this release came out, and boy is it nice to have a fast loading phone again, with such a great screen too. Thanks man for all of your work, I'll donate when I can Later.
Edit: Also I have found that this ROM is not rooted. Is that true? Thanks.

Quick question about the root access on this ROM. I've installed SuperSU and when I open it, it tells me the binaries need to be updated. When I go to update the binaries, it always fails. I'm assuming I missed doing something to enable the root access, so any advice would be appreciated.

On this build they basically removed the root manager interface, so root is handled by appops (or something similar). Why they (the android aftermarket) went this way is beyond me. Any time you go to activate a root app, a prompt should come up. (If it doesn't, open Settings > Developer Options > Root access, and tap "apps and adb" or whatever suits your needs).
If you'd rather use SuperSU (or any others), find a flashable zip and flash it in recovery. This should correct any issues you have with using said app.

Need the rom if possible
Hi, I am still using this phone as a daily and it is now slowe than ever and I was wondering if someone still have the rom since the links are broken. Thanks
When an app asks for permissions, Allow and Deny options show up (regardless if for storage, or camera, etc.) but the allow button does not work. Deny works fine. So far i have unlocked the bootloader via Huawei website method (i guess you call that official) and flashed twrp. I have not rooted the phone yet (getting to that, but one problem at a time) and this is the first one.
I also saw someone else ask, but with now answer. Is there a way to get rid of the splash scren about the phone being unlocked and not trustable, press power button again to boot?
Do you have an special theme activated? Use the standard theme and try again
My 1st question to you is... when the window prompts, do you flag the option "don't ask to me again" or not? Because if yes, the only option avalaible becomes the "deny" one. This mechanism confused me too some time ago, when i wasn't understanding why it was blacked out; Android takes your flag as an "what a bore, just shut up and go **** ya' self leavin' me alone" answer, so it automatically deactivate the possibility to let it pass even one more time. If you didn't checked the flag, i have another question for you. Did you maybe recently made an update OTA, or with an update package found online? If the 2nd answer is what u've done, do a check for being sure that you have updated the phone with the correct package model. (BLN-21, BLN-22, ecc.) If neither this is your case, begin to tell us something more 'bout your phone configuration and start to think to backup your data and do a factory reset for eliminate this weird issue.
For the question of yours about the Nag screen (the splash one, for being clear) at the moment there is nothing that we can do to avoid it to pop out; just skip it pressing immediately the power button, is the best advice that i can do so far
I'll attempt to answer all these at once since I just got home from work. I wouldn't believe rooting the phone would cause this issue, but the problem happened before i unlocked the bootloader so I think that rules that out. I do not use a special theme, but I do use squarehome launcher for my phone, not the standard android launcher. Problem there is, the problem occurs with either launcher being active. And theme wise, I have a 3-d live aquarium for a background (which if turned off and just a static wallpaper, the same behavior occurs). As far as the phone update goes, it was an OTA update from 6 to 7, so still using stock, nothing sideloaded or flashed (yet). My data is all backed up via My backup pro, and doing a full backup with TWRP onto OTG is not a problem. I prefer not throwing in the towel, since setting up squarehome perfectly is a pain in the ass, but if it has to happen, it is better than manually setting permissions for every app that needs them. Not sure what a screenshot would do, think of any app asking for permission to use phone storage, both the allow button and the deny button visible (in white, nothing grey) and allow doesn't respond where deny responds fine. and then i have to go in manually and grant the permission after the fact. I suppose I could just root my phone and give that a whirl, seems some bloatware needs to be removed anyway, and i have the SU sitting on my hard drive already. Thanx for the responses, and let me know what you may have come up with before I just factory reset it which as mentioned, I am dreading doing.

Well, I didn't think that would be the answer, but you, sir were right. I rooted my phone and it seemed to have fixed the problem. I don't believe I made any other change whatsoever. Thank you very much. Glad I tried it anyway as you suggested even though I didn't think it would be the answer. I am not above saying thank you, and I was wrong. Kudos. Maybe this will help someone else. Good thing is, I planned on rooting it anyway, and you just kicked me in the pants to do it.
Rooted but allow button is still not activated
Hello guys,
I wanted to activate app twin so I rooted my phone BLN-L21 android 7.0
Allow button still deactivated.
Also the boot screen that asks to press power button still exist.
I noticed that if I activate whatsapp twin it won't work simultaneously .
I.e : when you open whatsapp you get all missed calles & messeges.
Also I was able to download themes through themes app ,but now it just views the local themes.
Note: superSu is installed.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you
Well, I think this is not related to OP (or at least partially), but when unlocking bootloader after setting up SD card as the default storage can break some things, like default themes.
Try to restore your firmware, and then unlock the bootloader.
If successful, you can now set up SD card as default storage.

Its happened to me before i just wiped the phone. I even sometimes cant click install when installing an apk unless i lock and unlock the screen.
I've had a read through other threads and got no solutions. Not rooted and I don't understand it enough to try.
1) Removing the Korean clock from the lockscreen. Quickshortcutmaker doesn't have permissions to create the roaming clock shortcut, and I can't give it permissions through normal settings.
2) Custom lockscreen. I wanted to customise the lockscreen with KLKC but it doesn't override the default lockscreen. I've read something about needing certain roms, but nothing specific to this phone.
3) every time I turn data on/off there's an annoying popup - how can I remove this?
4) is it possible to customise the onscreen buttons (the triangle, square, circle) without root?
5) is it possible to remove the DnD notification? I managed to remove it from the lockscreen but it's still there if I drop down the bar.

Sorry I do not know about the lockscreen, but I think some apps can possibly do it with the write SECURE SETTINGS provided by adb permission. They need to be specifically made to work with that though. Is the pop-up for data "activating your device"?
After try many way to remove dual clock on lock screen on V50 running android Q, I got no success.
So i flash back android P to remove dual clock, and succeed
Quickshortcutmaker Permissions
Did you ever get a solution to your problems that you posted about in January? I recently purchased the V50, and installed Android 10 right away. Then I learned that I needed to have Android 9 in order to remove the dual (Korean) clock. I successfully reverted to Android 9, and then installed quickshortcutmaker. But when I get to the roaming clock settings and click "Try" I get this message: "Sorry. You cannot launch this activity from this app because it requires some additional permissions to launch." How do I get those permissions, so that I can disable the dual clock?
If I understand your posting correctly, it sounds like this might be the same problem you were having. Have you found a solution? I really want to get the dual clock removed, and then reinstall Android 10 to begin using the phone. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you very much.

As far as I know you need Android 8 to do it. I've kept mine on as I no longer pay attention to it. If there's a way of getting KLCK to work I'll look into that but as it stands I just ignore the second clock.

I love my P7P so far. I love gestures for back, recents, etc. I just read on Reddit about the navigation bar and how it's useless and getting burned in people's screens. Is there any way to disable it without rooting?
If I do have to root, do I get a message every boot about my phone being rooted? I hate that. My last phone was a Motorola that did that. I have rooted more than one phone before.

Without root, your options are limited, but I think you can use the APK in this post with Substratum Lite. I think you can use Substratum Lite with ADB privileges.

I don't believe you can with Nova. I read that on Reddit. I own it, just didn't install it because I'm loving the stock launcher on this phone. No bloatware. Just a great running phone so far. I really love that I don't even have to install voicemail (I don't use it).

If you want to keep the stock launcher, root is your only option. Yes, you'll get a warning that the bootloader is unlocked, but you can double tap the power button to get past it (first press pauses so you can go to some link ~ second press resumes and you boot up)

Um, or you don't press anything and it boots on its own after a couple of seconds?

Um, or you tap the power button twice and then you don't have to wait for the warning to go away and your phone boots up much faster......

Use a custom launcher. I believe Nova allows you to get rid of it

What? Nova most certainly allows you to remove the useless static search bar that Google forces upon you! I know because I have the P7 Pro and use Nova Prime as my launcher! If I could simply remove the search bar which I have NEVER used on ANY phone then I might use the default launcher! Nova works great!
I see that I may be confusing the NAV bar with the search bar???? Either way I use NAV buttons so not sure what NAV bar you are talking about???? Sorry!

He's on about the navigation bar (white pill at bottom of screen) not at a glance widget.

For me it take 19 seconds if I do that and 25 seconds if I don't which to me = I don't care
