I am about to order the phone online at Best Buy Mobile's online store (or at least hopefully as it says its not backordered). However, once I get the phone, will I be able to activate the phone instore at Best Buy or ATT? Or do I have to do it online? I have an old plan I would like to continue and it is not offered online.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks.

So it's getting close to Sunday, even some people were lucky enough to get them early. My question is, does anybody know of a place to order one of these that will ship to Canada? Other than waiting for them to show up on eBay?

Since bestbuy will carry it on sunday, you can PROBABLY buy it online and pay extra for the mailing.
So it's release day, my birthday, and I'm having no luck. I tried to get in on the Wal-Mart action this morning and failed cause I have a Canadian credit card which they wouldn't accept, which turned out ok since the canceled orders anyways. Next I tried Best Buy, they were willing to sell me on for $500 but I had to get it shipped to a US address first. I managed to find a cousin in the states who would accept it and then send it up to me, excellent. I called Best Buy up to order the phone and they told me they couldn't sell it off contract and that I would have to go to an AT&T store. I called back, got another agent and she informed me I could order the phone off contract. Just not now as they currently aren't shipping that phone and that I would have to go to a store and pick one up.
Does anybody know of any other online stores that are selling the Captivate today?
Wanting to get a Nexus S and i even called TMobile and they said "Best Buy is the only place you can buy it." I then asked if they knew when that ended. They said no.
So, coming from ATT to TMobile for this Nexus S, but i want to keep my current number, not get a new one.
Has anyone else, ordered online, through Best Buy, and been able to become a new customer while keeping their original phone number? I went all the way through their online process, but there was nothing that said "Keep your existing number". I know if i go to a TMobile store, i can do it, but can the Best Buy website do it?
I've never done it online at Best Buy before, but why not go to the store and have them do it for you? They can order it online for you and I'm sure you can port your number.
If not, then just get the new number with contract. Once you comfortable with T-Mobile, call customer service and ask them to port your number over. Of course, you need to keep your At&t service until the port is successful.
I did not know that they could port the number over AFTER I setup the service with them. I might have to do that then. Im going to a different Best Buy that sets up TMobile phones, so hopefully, they can do it for me immediately (If they have any left) in store and i wont have to port the number over.
thanks!
[Q] Help! online ordering from Best Buy
I just paid for the Nexus S through Best buy, and now I am afraid that I made a mistake. When I added the phone to my shpping cart, it asked me i I am a T-Mobile contract holder (Which i am not) and I said that I do, which gave me the option to buy the phone at the full price of $529. I am afraid that I am going to receive a LOCKED Nexus S with T-Mobile affiliations and that it's maybe not Sim Free.
Is this the case? If so, how do I order it SIM Free and UNLOCKED Online? The only options on the website was to buy it either for $199 with a T-Mobile contract or to buy it for $529, but again, I am not sure if this is fully unlocked or it is still with a T-Mobile Simcard.

AFAIK they are all unlocked - even the phones sold with T-Mo service.
Will the phone say T-mobile on the phone or connected with it in any way ?
nope, box has a tmobile sim in it but noowhere on the phone does it say tmobile
People at best buy online support are complete fools, they keep saying it's locked, even though twitter and their FAQ say its unlocked.
The whole point of Pure Google phone is that it's unlocked and unbranded
All Nexus S phones are unlocked by default with no carrier branding on the phone or box.
Pricing just varies based on if you want a contract or buying outright.

Well, not everybody have the intelligence required to flip burgers.
Best Buy couldn't even get the ordering live until about 10 minutes late ...
Then I tried to order 3 times; each time I got a vague credit verification error that made no sense.
Plus, they tried to switch me from my $10/mo unlimited 3G data to $10/mo 4G data with a 200MB cap... no thanks.
I was able to order by phone, but the process took over an hour. At least I got to keep my data plan.
Total cost was $250 after taxes and activation fees.
hi folks, is there anyone from from non-US/UK manage to buy a Nexus S>? If yes can let me know how? Especial from Malaysia. Thanks..
i had help from a fellow XDA member in the USA to help me buy one
as all the BestBuy stores were out of stock on the first 2 hours of the release date
make sure your phone operator works with 900/1700/2100 data
I bought two on launch day. The second is unopened. PM me if you want to buy it.
Wow!
I have a G1 and tried to upgrade to the nexus s with my existing 24.99 unlimited G1 data plan. The rep in the store said she was pretty sure I had to upgrade my plan. She said she would try it without upgrading my plan and got almost through the entire process but her system would only allow for the full price option for the phone.
Did you do anything special to get them to let it work with your existing plan??
Thanks

Has anyone actually bought this online?
I'm having problems getting Best Buy's site to let me buy this thing. It keeps getting hung up when I select a plan - just keeps asking me if I currently have T-Mo service and won't let me actually select an answer...
Also, since I'm a new customer, would I be able to sign up for T-Mo's promotional plan (1500+unlimited for 79.99)?
You have to go to the store for starting a new plan.
If just happened that you have an extra unit or you're willing to help me, please PM me. THanks; )

That's ridiculous - there's not a single Best Buy here in TN that will sell it with a plan. I suppose none do T-Mo. And my local store says $529.99 - available at Bestbuy.com for $199.99.
Whose idea was this Best Buy debacle?
your going to have to sign up for t-mobile service online best buy online sells tmobile online. Call there customer service they might be able to help you out.
Hey,
Maybe this will help!
bonvu.com
never used it so not sure how safe it is, but read that people are using it to purchase what ever they want in the US.
GL,
Some options:
www.ebay.com (in advanced search you can select someone that delivers to your country, offers paypal)
www.usunlocked.com (3rd party site, buys it for you and sends it yo you).
Heya,
I know T-mobile offers discounts to employees of Best Buy, but was wondering what information a T-Mo CSR would ask me for to apply the discount to my account? An associate in the store tried recently when I told her I worked at Best Buy, but something was wrong with her PC...she said I just needed to call #611 and tell them.
Is there a way for them to verify through a database or something? Or do you just need to give them something simple like a store # perhaps?
/one and only bump
I currently work at mobile. First off that consultant is a dumb ****. No way to add the discount for you even if you actually work at best buy. We would need your numbers and rep stuff. Secondly you need a best buy email address to verify. you need to then log on that email and verify some stuff. No wayfor you to get a discount sorry. Depending on the mobiles Verizon rep they can get you 25% off. Monthly Bill.

I edited you post and will only say it once. That launguge has no place on xda.
When I decided on getting a Moto G (and N5) for my mom and I, I was planning on Solavei. BUT.. they decided to increase their prices, so I am looking at T Mobile now.
A few problems I am running into (with both phones)
1. Both phones are very new, so it is not an option to choose when signing up on their prepaid site. Do I just choose a different phone and throw the SIM in anyways? If so, which phone.. the Nexus 4?
2. There appears to be two options to sign up on T mobile with two lines. I would like to choose $70 and $30(after second line discount) plans for me and my mom, totaling $100 for the Moto G and N5. When I look to sign up this way, it wants to charge me for a SIM "starter kit". If I choose to use their prepaid site, (prepaid-phones.tmobile....), the SIM is free but there appears to be no family plan option, so there is no discount on the second line. Is there a way to get the best of both worlds? AKA, Can I get a free SIM and a discounted second line?
I realize this is not the N5 forum but information on both phones is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Get the prepaid starter kits from the website. Then if you take the phones into the store you should be able to get the discount as long as it isn't online only.
Yes, you can set up over phone

Hi.. Like previously mentioned, order the sim kits from carrier on website, they waive activation fee if ordered online. When received, (make sure to order micro sim for Moto G) write down numbers from sim card and imei# separately, and call carier with info
They will correspond soon with imei #and assign phone number or port number, and reboot phone. They give it up to two hours but no need to leave home. I've done this with some Chinese phones that are not on their list and is been no problem. good luck... Paul
