Anyone got an HTC HD7 ?
If so, how do you select from a list of available networks ?
A friend of mine has just bought one on O2 and is stuck in Dubai with no emails - it was working perfectly in the UK, and all relevant services are enabled on his O2 account.
Roaming/data are both enabled on the phone itself but the phone has defaulted to the Etisalat network. O2 recommend using either of the AL JAWAL, Mobily or Zain networks for their services to work in Middle East/Emirates countries.
Anyone got a UK one and care to offer a menu sequence to select from available networks ?
I think the options are under cellular in the settings menu. Not sure about how to change it manually though
HTC app called connection wizard or something...
Go to settings>cellular>scroll to bottom, choose tap to select where it says network selection:automatic
Hi,
I just unlocked my SGS2 i9100, (rooted + used the app). I've just taken out my O2 sim, and put in my new Ovivo one (free contract - it's too good to be true, but it's true!).
Anyway, as after powering on a pop-up windows appeared asking me to select my "Sim Service", and I had the choice of:
-Vodafone Contract
-Vodafone PAYG
-BT Mobile
-ASDA
-TalkTalk Contract
-TalkTalk PAYG
-TalkMobile
I know Ovivo is vodafone, but since it you have a free allowance every month, on top of credit, I didn't know which one to choose. Even worse, I accidentally clicked one and don't know which I chose.
Two questions:
1) How do I get this Sim Service window back up?
2) Does anyone know which setting I should choose for Ovivo?
I presume this window is just for APN settings and it may not matter that much, but I'd still like to select the right one!
Thanks!

try .. settings .. wireless & network settings .. (long press) mobile networks .. access point names. the highlighted one will be the one you selected. Available networks should give you a list of network operators .. but ovivo will not be one of them.
i am trying to use the viper rom on my desire hd and have the same problem.
i think previously i selected bt-mobile and then changed all the apn settings but not seeing the bt one at the moment.
extra .. i tried installing viper again today and bt-mobile was one of the options so i selected that.
then i went to the apn and noticed that bt-mobile wasn't highlighted (ie no dot in the circle) so press menu and create the 2 apn's that ovivo require, save each one then select the main ovivo one as the preferred carrier (you should also be able to delete the bt apn but not really necessary.
hopefully, somebody will know how to resolve this with ovivo .. meanwhile i'm going to restore back to sabsa v14 .. i need mobile internet everyday.
pity, because viper looks interesting.
dave.
Just found it.
Go to settings --> mobile networks --> access point names. then menu button, and reset to default and it'll ask you to choose a "Sim Service" again.
I'm a United Kingdom citizen currently residing in Sweden, purchased a used Samsung Galaxy S9 from a friend for £350 in pristine condition, I was very happy with it until I noticed this annoyance.
Naturally I want to browse news from back home, so I use a VPN service that redirects all traffic through the UK, meaning every website or service believes I'm still back home, this has worked perfectly up until now.
This phone was purchased brand new in Sweden, never operator locked, once I was handed the phone it was factory reset, first time I turned it on I was met with "Let's Go!" text, set the language as English (UK) and time zone as London (GMT+0).
Before inserting my SIM card I wanted to test the phone out, so I connected the phone to my Laptop that then shared its VPN connection, proceeded to create a Samsung and Google account for the phone, when creating the Samsung Account it detected my location as United Kingdom and while creating the Google account it asked for a UK phone number (SMS verification).
But once I opened the Samsung Members app, all the text was in Swedish! I thought maybe the app can read the phones identification number (CSC) and figure out it was sold in Sweden, so it can restrict Samsung offers and Beta participation, that makes sense to me and I could let that slide, but then..
I try out every app the phone comes with after a factory reset, and a few more that the phone (Samsung/Google) recommended to me while it was updating apps, going through them nothing looked out of the ordinary except for one of the last things I opened: YouTube
The YouTube app no matter what I do, keeps recommending me Swedish videos to watch, on the hompage and on the trending section, when absolutely nothing on the phone or google account is set to Swedish (by default the YouTube app was set to United States).
I confirmed with Google Chrome on both my laptop (desktop) and phone (app), opening YouTube.com it recommends me UK videos instead of Swedish videos.
Anyone got a clue of what is going on? How could the YouTube (Google) app possibly detect that the phone is in Sweden and not the UK? I checked the CSC code and it's set to OXM NEE (Nordic Countries - Unbranded), so it's not even set to Sweden.
Summary,
Sold unbranded in Sweden (Not operator locked)
CSC is set to NEE (Nordic Countries)
Factory reset
Phone is currently in Sweden
No SIM card inserted (Phone is not connected to a mobile network, only emergency calls possible)
Language set to UK
Time Zone set to UK
IP Address set to UK (Wi-Fi)
Location never turned on (GPS)
Google Account detected and set as UK
Samsung Account detected and set as UK
YouTube app detected and set to US
Yet Samsung Members app shows everything in Swedish and the YouTube App still recommends Swedish videos. This to me sounds concerning and is annoying, these apps are doing things completely out of my control. The only thing I can think of is that both apps are somehow getting information from the cellular tower connection established for emergency purposes since there's no SIM card in the phone, and the CSC is set to generic Nordic Countries, not Sweden specifically which has a different CSC.
Hi I bought a used MetroPCS G7 Power and noticed that when I click the build number I get "Action not allowed, If you have questions contact your IT admin", with a button to tap "Learn more". When i click it, it brings up "device admin" and shows "Demo mode - your admin can monitor and manage apps and data associated with this device, including settings, permissions, corporate access, network activity, and the device's location information". is this normal software included on the Metro version or did I get sold a corporate phone that still has their software on it?
I'm planning to use it on T-mobile so i don't think it being locked will be a problem, but if I have a friend on Metro, could i put her sim card in it and request the unlock through the built in app or can I do it with a T-mobile sim?
This is not a Metro network unlock guide but a work around for certain circumstances where you may come in possession of a Metro variant Moto G Stylus 2020/xt-2043-4 & it might be totally locked out in the Android setup displaying a message after you press START
NETWORK LOCKED DEVICE
Please insert a valid sim card
Any sim card you insert doesn't do anything except im assuming a Metro sim card but i dunno I didn't have one to try. I had just broke my current device & I'd had this phone in my junk box for months and just sold the only other decent phone I had the day before so I pulled out the stylus and figured I could call metro to unlock it since it wasn't black listed. Well metro tells me that it is tied to another account & nothing they can do will help me but to take it into a Metro PCS store. So the next day I go to a store and the guy there was kind of a prick or maybe I was just pissy cause he told me there's nothing he can do it has to be activated with an account for 6 months before anything can be unlocked. So at this point I'm like F*$*@##!!!!!!
Then I do this crazy thing I do all the time and pull some awesome out of my .... Brain. I decide to do a FRP bypass technique to where I go into emergency call then emergency information click on the edit icon, select the picture then choose select a photo and go to the menu then hold down on Google drive opening the app settings. Select permissions and in permissions there's a search icon and I type in "settings" and select the settings app & open system settings. I connect my phone to a Wi-Fi network then go into apps choose show system apps, scroll down to the network unlock app and opened it and seen that you could open the app so I do and select to permanent unlock the device it's a success and phone reboots and a total bypass to the network restriction phone was now fully unlocked to all carriers.
Step by step guide
Emergency call
Emergency information
Edit emergency information
Select photo, select choose image
Go to menu then long press Google drive
In Google drive app settings go to permissions
Select search & type in settings
Launch settings app connect to Wi-Fi
Open apps choose show system apps
Open network unlock app
Select permanent unlock
And it's all is good your device will now be completely Network unlocked
I hope this helps anyone with the same problem I noticed a lot of posts about the same issue with nothing being resolved so good luck and enjoy your F****** Unlocked Stylus.
If you cannot get a network unlock you can still use the device by following guide except when you go to network unlock app instead go to Android setup in apps and disable the app and it will disable the Network lock screen that you cannot bypass and you'll be able to use the phone otherwise.
