Battery failing after two weeks of use? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

My battery just drained 50% from half an hour of texting. My screen is on auto brightness and I'm inside. I rebooted and it's still draining rapidly. Should I exchange it?

It sounds to me like you have a rouge app going wild. Download "system tuner" from the play store, open it and click on task manager and view what apps are running and view how much each one is taxing your CPU. Hope you find your answer...

Agreed, I had a phone that would die within hours, deep down I found some odd app and that was swallowing the battery, disabled it and everything was fine.

I killed everything except for Messages in the stock Task Manager and it continued to drain like crazy.

Android OS bug - silent killer

When Android OS bug strikes it kills with no mercy
Since i got SGS2 i kept my Captivate as backup alarm for many cycles discharge in couple of weeks recharge ect. no problem ,no apps running in background , phone in plane mode with Cognition rom i get great standby time. Can hold out for weeks, but then, one night, out of the blue BAM Android OS kills it in two hours flat lol
Lesson: don't rely on your phone for mission critical stuff

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that most likely the battery is either getting weak or isn't calibrated correctly. And just whatever is using that last little bit of energy, which, in your case, will always be the android os, is going to show using the largest percent of the battery.

I think this is a known issue...see above

How do I stop these programs from running so often.

Here's a picture of the programs over 10 or so hours. First off WHY are some of these programs running so frequently; like music. Second how do I stop the alarmmanager proccess? Thank you in advance.

I can't stop the programs from turning on every 30 mins?
Some people have had good success with a Android Market program called Autostarts. I am thinking about trying it. It is a $1.
If you try it, please post back your results. I want to know if it only works for programs or if you can control individual processes.
See its keeping my phone awake
I think most of those need to be running in backround for the phone to function properly. If its a user app and you dont use it often just uninstall it or freeze it with TB. Task killers dont work and will just result in the app restarting itself.

Yeah I got to lookin at it a little bit and thought that myself. Didn't know right away because I've never actually used MIUI.

Why is my battery doing this

Why is my battery dropping like 5% when I reboot it? The second time I rebooted it it didn't do that.

I've noticed that on all my phones. Gets worse if you reboot with less charge. The way I think it was explained to me was; the phone uses more battery to boot and at lower charges it has to take more from the battery to boot. Why it happens sporadically like that I have no idea.

This is correct. It's like starting your car, more energy is needed to get it running than it is to maintain. When you reboot your phone, it has to do a whole bunch of thing such as start apps, find and connect to signal, mount sd, start launcher, etc etc... This is very battery intensive.

help lowering phone wakes?

so after getting a custom rom and kernel and making some other changes, im getting pretty good battery life from my phone, well in comparison to what it used to be, but ithink it can still be better. especially considering how often apps keep waking my phone up. using GSAM battery stats, i am seeing the number of times apps woke up my phone today...
so many apps in the double digits!!
google services is the biggest offender, and when i click on it, it says that Google Contacts Sync is what causes it..should i uncheck contacts from the sync options in the settings menu? if i do that, it will also not save any changes i make to numbers from my phone though right?
and then next is go sms pro..which i have no idea keeps waking up, i only got 1 text today...
it seems ironic that juicedefender is in the top 3 since its supposed to be saving me battery..is it actually useful and am i just overthinking it?
then some of the other ones lik tv show favs and tweetdeck, i dont know what they are doing when they wake either. especially since in the tweetdeck settings i have it set to only update when i manually refresh...
any ideas or solutions to bring those numbers down?
Any ideas?

N today I have ebay app on the list too.. I had logged in for like 2 minutes, wasn't even watching anything, removed it from task manager, and then went and force stopped it... Yet still it kept waking my phone up

Anyone have any ideas on why my phone's awake time is almost an hr more than my screen on time? I keep WiFi on all the time and I get notifications from kik, tapatalk and gmail and occasionally Facebook but I didn't think it was that much. I'm new to this app and don't really know what it all means and how to tell what is doing what on my phone. I just want better battery life.
Thanks!

Follow the advice above for a better answer but looks to me like you have no signal where you are. Try airplane mode with WiFi on..
If its a stupid suggestion, ignore me.
