New user needs help! - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry for posting this in the general section, but I was told I can't post in the development section until I have 10 posts. I hope someone here can help me! I just finished downgrading my OS from the .29 build to .17 and everything went okay except for one big problem I am having. When I try to launch file manager I get "Unfortunately, File Manager has stopped". Everything else on my device works. Has anyone had any experience with this?

usually that occurs when you didn't clear cache etc...

For future reference, this type of thread shouldn't be posted in the development section anyway. Development is for people releasing ROMs, recoveries, kernels, and other related items for download.

Clone your device

I've asked this question here before, and it seems it couldn't be done, and now it seems it can.
I wanted to be able to clone my device to an image file, and restore from the image file.

It's just a shame sprite doesn't sell this as a single user licence.
This would be awesome for us addicted flashers. I know the one thing I hate doing is re-installing all my apps after, testing a rom and deciding it wasn't for me and want to go back to the way it was exactly before.

I dont understand why everyone fusses about flashing a rom anymore and setting up their apps now that UC is here. I literally have 51 (I just counted) apps I installed on my latest rom and it takes me no more than 10-20 minutes and I'm up and running. Does noone use UC? WTH?

UC requires one to be a bit more technical with xml programming. There is nothing wrong with a simple backup/restore. In fact, backup/restore requires no technical knowledge at all. OP is looking to go back to exactly what he had before (no new ROM; yes, he has to flash the old ROM back), so restore works very well for him.
I really like UC I only wish I had the time to invest to setup a xml file for my settings.
I really liked setting savor as it did all the cabs as well as my personal settings all by setting up the phone once and pushing 1 button to backup.
At risk of getting Flamed for asking an obvious question, can anyone direct me to a thread on configuring UC. I am keen to implement it on my latest UC compatible Dutty's rom but am unable to find the relevant info.
I have tried using the search tool, but unfortunately UC is too short and I'm not sure what the acronym stands for!
I also tried Skunkygwen's "G iving W ise E ducational N oob I nstructions" sticky, but I couldn't see anything there either.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

haha. thanks for wasting 30secs of my life... anyway, what's Eclair?
[e] still props for compiling the list, i would correct the title (FAQ?) and make sure it gets sticky... i was really wondering why noone else did something like that. you can't complain about newcomers asking question if you don't have such a list
this thread is misleading bull****, should be locked

this is exactly what i was pointing out ^^^^^^ nothing against you vihil, but you were the first to bite. all this information is in a sticky at the top of the Development Forum, but noone reads it anymore. I was just trying to get it out there in the "threads that are actually read" stream.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA i love this. now for real n00bs to find this and read it...
This thread should be removed... you're only adding more useless content to the forum. Kinda hypocritical.
You got me good. I was actually excited for 0.5 seconds until I read the first sentence.
I thought this would be interesting....you realize legitimate power users would click on this and now we just have wasted time. I hope this thread vanishes.

no more useless than the previous 6 threads on eclair or an eclair port within the past 3 days.
even if they open it they wont even read it nonetheless, its almost impossible for these nubs
my point in this entire thread is an attempt to get noobs to read important info. case in point... in 15 minutes this thread already has almost 600 views...
This thread made me happy lol. I praise your efforts, but the n00bs are out of control and there is no helping them anymore. Its just "gimme, gimme, gimme". They want everything handed to them.....
At least the XDA Wrecking Crew made an appearance before the thread got locked.

[Q] Hints requested building specific binary to solve bluetooth problems

My Nexus has problems connecting over bluetooth to my Car (BMW). I've found a lot of references to similair problems, and also a hint which suggests a change that could solve the problem. The hint can be found on the cyanogem forum in posting 77834, "bluetooth-connection-drops-kar-kit-bmw" (I cannot post links here).
I am running stock KitKat, and for the moment want to keep it that way. So, I decided to try the same patch on KitKat. I've managed to setup a development image in a VM, but keep running into problems compiling - my machine lacks resources (diskspace) to complete a complete build. I do not need a complete build; I need just 1 file, bluetooth.default.so, compiled. My development skills are VERY rusty, and I cannot find out how to build only this file.
I've applied the patch to external/bluetooth/bluedroid/bta/ag/bta_ag_sdp.c, run a make on the Makefile here etc - but, still no luck. The most frustrating bit is that I'm sure this is trivial, but it has been such a long time since I did any development work that I cannot seem to find a way to compile.
Can someone help me out here with hints on how to build the .so? I need bluetoot.default.so, build from the files in the external/.../ag directory, to be situated in system/lib/hw on the android system.
You put a Q in the title yet still posted in the wrong place. Please be more careful about where you post. General is not for questions. Q&A is for questions

How to build ROM with echo fixed

Dear S7 developers,
I know that a fix for the echo issue cannot be released here in the forums for others to download because of copyright issues, but I could potentially build the ROM myself and pull in the right files to fix the issue or is there anything blocking me from doing so? If so, has anyone done this before and can give some rough directions? A quick search didn't yield anything related to this in the forums. If this is not solved, I have to look into it myself but I'd rather keep working on my Note 10.1.
Maybe we can even go further. There are other software related projects that have to deal with copyright issues, too. They usually solve this by having a manual step for the user who is installing something so that they don't have to provide the necessary copyrighted material. Can't this be done in this case, too? Can't we prepare a ROM and have one/multiple files that need to be adb pulled by the user from their phone with the original Samsung ROM still running and then pushed back after flashing a custom ROM?
If it would be that easy, someone would probably already have solved this I guess. Still looking forward for some answers here.
Did you solve?

[CLOSED] Set scaling_max_freq default value

So I decided to make a kernel a few week back and it has been going really well. But lately I have had the issue that the default value of scaling_max_freq is a value above stock when the device has booted. This is not great since it can lead to some devices miscalculating and crashing I immediately after booting, but I can't find a way to do it, preferably without modifying the system partition. Any ideas?
