[Q] Nexus S CM9 "Preference Stub"? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted Nexus S with an unofficial CM9 build and when I download themes, I go to settings>Themes but all I get is: Preference Stub-Temporary placeholder until functionally merged." What can I do to fix this?

Are you running a current nightly? Should have the theme chooser baked in.

I got a stable version, not the nightly build. I'll get a nightly build now. Thanks!

CM7 Nightly build update

In case anyone wondering the build bot status. Their not restoring nightly builds until CM9 is ready. At least that is what Chris Soyars on twitter/G+ said. Although they may have another stable release.

[Q] CM9 RC0 VS CM9 RC1 - on Nexus S

hello guys
i have been running CM9 RC0 (cm-9.0.0-RC0-crespo-signed.no.v5) on my GSM Nexus S OCed to 1.2GHz (ondemand governor)
and now i found out that they have released RC1 and so i downloaded it to give it a try.
but before doing so i have some questions in mind regarding RC1
that if it is worth flashing instead of CM9 RC0?
what are the possible added features of settings that are of more benefit than the previous version ?
please help me as i am just a rookie in these rom flashing and Overclocking
Just thinking that new version always worth to flash otherwise why do they release it? Working on ROM is not something easy

It's newer cm code compiled into a Nightly release. Some nightlies are more stable than others, read the changelogs and bug for nightlies and you'll have an idea of what is fixed in a release and what is broken by an update.

ok great so does it mean that it should be more faster than the Rc0 or the nightly builds ? because CyanogenMod is MEANT to be a PERFORMANCE ROM so there must be some more speedy update to it in simple words right ?
Let me try this again, Nightlies are just the latest code compiled into a Rom, there's no guarantee you'll see any difference between one nightly or another so you have to read the changelog to see what code was changed.

[ROM] [4/30/13][4.2.2]AOKP Unofficial Nightly[WiFi/HSPA+]

AOKP JB-MR1 Unofficial Nightlies for the Grouper and Tilapia with Cherry Picks
What is it?
AOKP Nightly based on Google's Android OS 4.2.2 direct from source, with tablet UI architecture implemented from cherry picks, compiled by myself and uploaded for your pleasure.
These are essentially untampered with save the tablet UI cherry picks
Why?
Why not? I started compiling them for myself and decided to share with whomever also wanted the latest and greatest, free of buzz words and hype.
What's Broken?
Possibly a cherry pick that isn't quite ready yet. Let me know, the more people who report bugs, the smoother the dev team at AOKP can make this!
Changelog
Can be found Here for merges,
current cherry picks are:
Chronus built in as system app, updated direct from CM source
Features chronus preferences in rom control--->clock--->clock widget
Gradient fix flashable zip can be found in this post by JohnMagoo
These nightlies will ONLY work on the ASUS Nexus 7 (Grouper), flashing these will require a custom recovery, for your sake I hope you are on the latest either CWM or TWRP2. If not on the latest recovery you will receive the 0/0/0/0 folder error, I personally recommend TWRP2 as you can queue up multiple files to flash at once.
The usual disclaimers and everything else still apply, so if you install this on a non Grouper tablet, please don't blame me.
gapps flashing is still required, and I recommend nexus louder beta and franco kernel.
Downloads For Grouper

For those of you that like the gallery with web albums, download this APK and replace the gallery2.apk that can be found in system/app, I use Ghost Commander for the dual pane and it usually never does me wrong, use what you'd like to get it in there.
Gallery2.apk - 6.94 MB Stock gallery with Picassa and Google Web Albums sync. Install over gallery2.apk in system/app
As with all nightlies, a gapps flash is required, all the usual disclaimer stuff about what you do to your tablet and so on and so forth. It compiled (after fighting it all day), it works, and if you don't care for tablet UI you can easily switch between different choices in ROM Control. Enjoy!
If you're enjoying the nightlies feel free to comment, ask a question, or hit the thanks button!

I'm getting the occasional "UI ate itself" sort of error, which results in a short lag and some funnyness for a very brief moment. Do you think this is an artifact of this being a nightly build? Of my setup/shenanigans? Do you think it is worth documenting and reporting?

its not officially merged in yet, it is still very much a WIP. you could report it to the author of the commit, but it looks like sometime this weekend it should be officially implemented into the nightlies, they've been working on this all morning trying to get it ready to merge
if I get an opportunity after I've compiled my frills free nightlies I will see about sending up another build with cherry picks for tab ui here

[Q] help with cyansense rom

just installed the cyansense beta rom on my one s, its a damned fine 4.4.2 rom very stable and good battery life. on the xda page for it is says it is kept up to date with the latest cm 11 nightlies.
has anyone else installed this rom, if so how do you update it to the nightly. the thread for it is closed so I`m struggling.
would it be a case of downloading the cm nightly and just flash it after clearing cache and dalvic?
really like this rom and would like it to be up to date.

As the thread for this Rom has been closed, there will be no updates. You can not flash the official cm11 nightlies over your current cyansense Installation, to update it. But there are lots of other nice roms, which are worth an attempt and will be kept up to date by the dev.

[Q] Running NIGHTLY CM as opposed to any other rom?

Hi.
I am new to this.
I am running RR for a while.
Every Time there's a new build up, dev instructs to flash latest CM NIGHTLY.
I was thinking - why not just run the Nightly build as a daily rom?
Am I missing something? Is it strictly for development purposes?
I am looking for rock solid stability mainly.
Thanks!

That's usually only recommended if there's a change in firmware in CM. It's not necessary to flash CM13 every time before flashing RR. I've never even used RR but I'm sure that's the only reason he would advise to flash CM.
Latest CM13 works great, rock stable at the moment so if you wanna switch go ahead
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
CM nightlies contain firmware files in it. So what the dev wants is for you to update to the latest working firmware from CM nightly, and when you flash RR after, the firmware stays.
