Music player issue - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

I have this weird problem with the stock music player.
If you'll look at the screen cap below, you would notice that the texts are not really text at all but blocks. I just noticed it today and I have no clue when or what started this. Please help. I don't want to do a factory reset or use a third party music player.
My phone is a Rooted GT-P6200 with stock rom.

With a rooted phone, any little information you give is important. Did you change any system's font, or install a app to do so? The font that describes the artist is not the default one for sure.
Sent from my GT-P6210

Nope, I didn't install any font stuff. I tried other preinstalled system fonts though but I don't think it's gonna mess up anything.
There's one thing I noticed though. Closing the music app from a task manager and reopening it seems to fix the issue. But it comes right back after a few songs.

What do you mean other preinstalled system fonts? There is typically only one font installed. Set your fonts back to default if you can or if rooted download a font installer. I personally like Font Installer *Root* by JRummy16.

@kzoodroid
There are 4 different fonts installed by default. And they can be changed in Settings -> Screen -> Screen display -> Font style
And the font in the screencapture seems to be the "Choco Cooky".

Did not realize this came with other fonts, not the best selection though. I thought he had gone the old school way of changing fonts and had messed with his system files.

I hate the stock player anyways, and unfortunatelly Poweramp got some issues with the build in task killer in our devices. Fighting with poweramp devs for months but no changes so far. It randomly stops playing. I just downloaded jetAudio and its even better than poweramp. Nice features, great equalizers and the bass boost is just the best!!! I totally recommend it! Try it out!

Ever tried the player from miui? I use it on my phone. Very good

Well I admin that PowerAmp has it's issues, however I've tried JetAudio with various presets/manual settings but can't seem get the same quality sound that I get from PowerAmp.

[Q] All notifications use default notification sound

I recently decided that I'd like different sounds for my various app notifications, but found that regardless as to what I set them to, they always use the default notification sound. To clarify, my apps ( gmail, twitter, facebook, etc ) all allow me to change their sounds and the settings stay put, they just simply don't use the selected sound, but rather player the default instead.
I've tried using apps that help with setting sounds, didn't help. I tried only using default system sounds vs the ones I've added via Zedge, didn't matter. I've been searching on XDA and Google, but no luck. I'm currently running v3 of the Breakneck rom on an LG Vortex and would much appreciate any help.
Update
I flashed my phone to v4 of the breakneck rom this morning, so took the opportunity to see which app(s) was causing the problem. The fresh rom prior to installing any new apps does work with a default system wide sound and different individual app sounds. I didn't encounter the problem I mentioned above until I used Zedge to set my notification sound to one of the ones that I had downloaded through it. If I uninstall Zedge and go back to using default system sounds, they work again properly. But if I use one of the downloaded sound files, even with Zedge still uninstalled, it no longer allows individual apps to have their own sounds. I even tried converting the sound files over to OGG and moving them to the system notification folder, no dice. Any ideas?
If this problem still exist in the V2.4 of the Zedge app please let us know by using "feedback" in the app.
Then we will let one of our developers to take a look at it.
(I'm a Community Manager in Zedge by the way)
Thanks!
Thank you for the reply, but I'm not 100% sure that it's Zedge's fault. A friend of mine has the same phone and is running a stock rom AND is having no trouble with his Zedge sounds. I however, am having trouble with Zedge on my custom rommed phone. I've also sent a tweet over to the rom developer to see if he'd check things on his end.
Also, I am already running v.2.4.

Hey I tried this app and really nice ... only problem is with album art in library mode..It do not take album art assigned from SD card in library mode.
This beta has been released for public more than 2 weeks ago. Very nice one.
Yeah, I was very surprised that it hadn't broken in the Android news circles well before it did.
Thanks for sharing! This caused me to buy PowerAmp. The widget is really nice!
I wonder if the people that bought the original will get the new improved version for free

Of course, when you install this beta it recognises your paid license.
Can beta be installed together with 1.x version or is this an upgrade?
M. Speksnijder
It's an upgrade and will replace your existing PowerAMP installation.
Hands, down, the BEST player I have ever used! I've lost any interest in other apps and equalizers - I can't believe I've just come across this

I've been with PowerAMP for quite a while, but even so I was aware of it for quite come time before I tried it - totally kicked myself when I did get round to it! Installed the trial and listened to a couple of tracks, immediately went to the Market and purchased it.
Thanks for this...better design than before. Equalizer in more enhanced with a couple of new features such as limit, mono, and stereo x. Also have added a 7dB Equalizer Band in Advanced Tweaks - PowerAMP keeps getting better!
I love power amp, only real issue i am having with this beta tho is the equaliser refuses to stay set on whatever i set it as. Even if i turn the equaliser off, when the next track starts the it turns on again and reverts to preset 1!
Only seems to happen with earphones plugged in!
So far, the beta seems much friendlier...
EDIT: Except for the folder selection, it loads, then again and again
Yep, there are definitely a few bugs that need sorting.
I was having issues with custom EQs, but for whatever reason they seem to have sorted themselves now... EQ seems to be consistently reported problem though.
I don't use folders, so hadn't come across that problem - thanks for letting us know (hope you've fed back to the dev!).
I downloaded it, i tried it and i approved it very quickly.
I'm surprised whenever I read someone is still using Beats to listen to their music. And then I just kinda laugh.

I have both beats and Poweramp....Poweramp puts beats to shame. The only issues I've seen is that it forgets album art on some songs and goes back to a generic album art. Also if I clik on menu, more then settings app crashes? Any one else?

[Q] Apps safe to remove/Freeze?

I am coming from the SGS Fasciante, so am quite familiar with all this flashing and stuff...but I just (FINALLY) got my upgrade to the SGS3 and I wanted to make sure of a few things before i go messing around.
I have rooted and unlocked and installed recovery...root works fine..even AdFree app works...
Using pure stock rooted..no rom has been flashed...Android 4.0.4 IMM76D.I535VRALHE
I remember reading somewhere that this phone now has some checker built in that will give an error that "Unauthorized software detected"...or something...if you modify the os too much...
Is this still true...? I want to remove or freeze the crap apps that come with the phone, but don't want it lock up the phone on me...Is it better to delete the app, or use a freeze program...any suggestions?
What about OTA updates with this phone?...do I need to be concerned about that... will it one day just deiced to update and i loose root etc....
Also, I flashed the DSP Manager.zip i used on my Fasciante..and it is working..most of the time...doesn't seem to affect Amazon MP3 like it did on the Fascinate...DSP Manger also won't stay on a lot...keeps reverting to stock sound quality....keep having to start stop player app and tweak DSP app to get it to tun back on...any ideas...?

You should only get the "unauthorized software detected" message if you attempt to flash a custom kernel (Or ROM that contains a custom kernel) when you haven't unlocked your bootloader, the latest version of ez unlock (1.4 I believe) will tell you it unlocked the bootloader and flashed a insecure aboot. Check out this guide and this guide for apps that are safe to remove or freeze on your phone (If you think you may need the app again sometime just freeze it rather then remove it that way if you need it latter you can unfreeze), also pay careful attention to the guides and make a backup before removing or freezing any apps. I personally use Titanium Backup for any application freezing or removing needs. If your running the stock Verizon ROM and your rooted there is always the possibility of them pushing an update along that breaks root (Fortunately you can restore a CWM or TWRP backup when you did have root, or use odin to restore the factory image). Further more, an awesome app by the name of OTA RootKeeper allows you to keep root even if Verizon issues a OTA update. I'm guessing DSP manager and Samsung's music player equalizer options may be interfearing with eachother causing the issues you mentioned. Technically this version of DSP Manager is for the international GS3 but it should still work on our Verizon version (As always make a backup before flashing anything). Plus not all parts of the Fascinate DSP Manager zip may be compatible with the Verizon Galaxy S3 once again causing you random problems. Well hope I helped let me know if you need more help .
About DSP manager...work fine in all players..including the Samsung player for flac files..but not for mp3...I did find winamp player works perfectly though with dsp manger I flashed..will have to try the one u linked to...
Edit: no change..appears to be the same zip...o well..winamp player for me...not as nice as the Samsung one...but...yea..want the better sound...

I agree, while the Samsung music player has a couple cool features and awesome UI most of the features seem kinda gimmicky like the sound alive settings, like you said I personally would stick with winamp, which is still a realy soild music player and the great sound and customization of DSP manager.

Yea..now that i can transfer my media player to the SGS3, my Fasicante officially gets retired..
There is only 2 other things with he SGS3 I am annoyed with at the moment:
Email and Gmail apps are ugly white versions...(special Touchwiz version I assume)I am not sure if there are blacked out versions of these for stock...I tried adding in the Email and Gmail .apk I was using from ICS for the Fasciante...but it wouldn't work....may just need to find another app from the market...
There doesn't seem to be any settings to adjust the toggles on the notification drop-down....don't need some, and want to add brightness toggle.......

You should considering rooting your phone and installing CM 10 or AOKP they both have customizable quick toggles and inverted gapps for gmail and you can get regular inverted email too.

I probably will...eventually...but I want to keep stock as much as possible...maybe once the final release of JB for this device is out...and the bugs are worked out.
Use titanium backup to freeze ur apps... Great program, should be mandatory for root users and ROM flashers (imo) . As far as what to freeze, general rule of thumb, dont freeze anything that starts with com or has andy the android as the icon. Be careful freezing any launchers and definately make a nandroid backup prior to any freezing.

[MOD] Acid Audio Engine

Link to Team Ac!d op: Here
This is an audio enhancement mod that offers several different options and combinations.
From the OP:
● Sony Clearaudio Plus system (an amazing technolgy to enhance clarity of Bass and provide several effect like Clearphase, Clearbass, SRS surround,...)
● Beats Audio Engine (we ported latest beats engine from HTC one XL, and modded it a lot to be great handled by Clearaudio, it improve greatly Bass power and overal surround effect)
● Cyanogen DSP features (it helped a lot to handle better in app Equaliser)
● Dolby Digital Sound (overall better audio clarity with way more natural sound and some awesome features like SRS Wow and Dynamic Bass range)
● Sony Xloud (enhance noticably speaker quality in terms of clarity and volume, it help to ensure there is no distorion in sound even in headset, better balanced treeble and crystal voice)
● Eizo Rewire PRO series (an awesome Audio tool wich brings lots of effect and claim to offer a better balanced and natural Sound)
● AC!D Audio Parts (Huge optimisation in overall sound quality due to some optimisation, some tweaks, some audio rendering and resampling and even more... some Huge work have been done already)
I have tested it on the Infuse running MIUI 3.1.11 which is based off of Scott's 4.1.2 build Nov. 04, 2012.
It should work on any ICS/JB build you are running on your Infuse.
I downloaded option 1, Aroma.
My choices were: what phone?= universal, build prop.= Samsung, Walkman= skip, option= Noozide.
These settings work fine- you are free to choose any setup you prefer.
Remember to wipe cache and dalvik and follow setup instructions in the OP.
Just wanted to share this really nice mod - enjoy !!
Credit: Team Ac!d and thanks to lennyssoto for the heads-up.
Thanks. I always like trying these mods out - audiophile that I am - but I always come back to Voodoo. Let's see if this one can sway me!
Nice find Pony! Another audiophile reporting in
I went with the universal acid mod + walkman on my LiquidSmooth.
I'm quite amazed I must say! Really clear sounds, and bass feels just right
Another audiophile here...ill try this out later with my ath-m50s
Thanks for sharing pony!

thaNX FOR Sharing...
This one looks very interesting.
I am running Beanstalk? From scott.
I read the OP, it said I have to uninstall any other third party equalizers. This ROM comes with DSP manager. How do I uninstall it?
And is that it for me to use this awesome engine? Just uninstall DSP manger and install this?(maybe acid +walkman)
I'd love to follow if somebody makes clear instruction for this awesome engine for CM10.1 or beanstalk.

zpzp96,
None of my devices currently have DSP Manager. You should be able to uninstall by going to 'manage apps', find it and uninstall. If that does not work, you can freeze / remove it with a file manager (Root Explorer, etc.)
You should then be able to download and install Acid, make your choices during the install process and reboot when complete. It is important that you wipe cache and dalvik first.
Running beanstalk here, but I'm unable to start the Walkman app. I did clear both caches, and selected Samsung, Samsung, acid audio, and yes on all other questions (can't remember all the options). When I try to start the app, just a blank screen and then I get a message that devices are not responding. Any thoughts?

Drat. I was afraid of that. Well, since Scott said that another update will be sent out within next day or two, I'll wait until the next update for BeanStalk and then try it with those options.
Is it possible to get the Walkman App working with our device?
Their OP says Walkman may not work with all devices. I am going to do a few diffeent install processes as I have time and see what I come up with. Will post results.

After trying this on multiple roms on our Infuse I have found this mod to work pretty much as the OP states- works quite well.
It comes down to what your personal preference is. As Andros11 stated the Walkman player(automatically adds acid music) is a very good choice. Just remember as you are in aroma, if you want Walkman then choose it and do not add anything from the next screen.
The other choice is to skip Walkman install and choose from the menu on the next page. Of the available choices I prefer the Noozide, again try them and decide for yourself.
Two most important things are disable / delete any music player you have that has eq options and second wipe cache and dalvik. I did have to do 1 additional reboot on a couple of the roms I tried - YMMV. My two cents- this mod is a keeper, and it performs well on my 3 phones.

vkumar2695,
I have not had a chance to go through as many of the settings as I would like - I hope this helps.
Using the Noozide option, I have found several ways to customize settings based on your individual preferences as well as how you are listening - phone, headphones, external speaker.
When you install Noozide you will get 3 new icons:
1. Acid Sound Mod- a couple of basic settings- no biggie.
2. Noozxoide EIZO- many choices here, see thumbs 1 and 2 (left to right)
3. noozy- the player- a few sound adjustments here for sound at the menu bottom, see thumb 3.
Number 2 is where you will want to spend the most time customizing, it is amazing (to me) that there are so many different combinations and choices.
I hope that once you find the one that best suits your musical taste you will come back and share it here.
I tried to install it, I failed...
I am running beanstalk, I could uninstall DSP manager but the sony walkman failed. The acid engine installed but didn't do anything. And if I go to setting sound effect, there was something but not acid.
I played music with apolo... it was not good at at all.
Now I'm going to stick with DSP Manager+ pack+ playerPro. Best for me. Both quality and gap less and no lag whatsoever

If you haven't already, you need to either flash your rom again or manually remove and change out system files the AAE added or modified. I went through the laborious task of manually putting this back to the way they were! I suspect the reason this didn't work for you was because the flash didn't change your build.prop. It didn't for me (also running Beanstalk).
Still, while I love trying this stuff out, nothing is as good as Voodoo Sound on our device. Some phones have crap DACs so they need all this additional processing. Our phone has a pretty good DAC, so you are going to get the best sound by getting as much out of the way of the music as possible.
Thanks again for bringing this new mod to our attention, Pony!

If so which way u flash it? I tried with nozzle but I didn't hear any difference and also the settings were too difficult. Can anyone help me please? Thanks for your support XDA the best!

Maybe just try the Walkman- the settings are pretty straightforward and it works well.

[APP]CM Apps on your stock ROM!!!

Ok so I ran across this yesterday and noticed no one has posted on it so I thought I would let you guys know.
On the play store there is an app that will let you freely install the cm versions of a bunch of apps provided you have access to root.
To make this work on the moto x you have to have pwnmymoto installed and working on your device, also you must be booted
into recovery mode so that you can make the changes to the system/app/ folder actually stick.
The way the app works is it downloads the .apk to your device and then it installs it separately in two different commands.
The installation is kind of finicky i had to hit the install .apk button twice before it would actually install. Give it a try your results may differ.

There are a lot of ROM's out there, some CyanogenMod-based and some not. The CyanogenMod team go much further than ROM functions, they develop apps with increased functionality over stock or older versions.
This application is designed to install these CyanogenMod apps as system apps, regardless of your ROM. Please note this is a root-only app!
The process is designed to be as simple as possible; select your app, hit download, hit install, and reboot your device when you're done. The system will refresh them upon reboot, and the app should be installed

I'm having all kinds of issues with any equalizer, they work for a period of time and stop completely, AFAIK DSP equalizer has issues with jb 4.2, I was using awesome beats, which is a modified version of DSP and after 4 o4 5 songs it stopped working. So I bit the bullet and purchased player pro, it by passes stock sound configurations .

I've got DSP kind of working...Each time i start a song I have to re-open the app, or if i go to it under the equalizer settings in GPM. Ive only been using GPM and i know that DSP has some weird issues with streaming, but DSP is working, its just annoying that I have to "re-enable" it after each song. I dont have any music on my storage, so i havent tried with any other app, maybe its just the streaming...

I dont have any music on my storage, so i havent tried with any other app, maybe its just the streaming...

Okay I guess you could say it kind of works. It sounds nothing like the real DSP manager though, hopefully he'll fix this soon.

Has anyone gotten Voice+ to work? I cannot. Whenever I try manually launching the .APK it says "There was a problem parsing the package." Torch works, though the frequency of the strobe function is completely erratic. Messaging would force close every time I opened it so I downloaded the one from the thread stated earlier. Haven't tried any of the others though.

My understanding of voice plus requires dependent files that are built into cm. I could definitely be wrong however I suspect that I'm not.
