What the simplest way to back up the Rom that's on my sensation before I flash it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
I think you mean to say back up the old ROM before flashing a new one?
You perform a NANDROID backup. For this, you need to go to recovery, and select the backup option.
If the Sense version & Android versions of both ROMs is the same, wipe Cache +Dalvik from recovery before flashing the new ROM. If you want to revert back, Wipe Cache + Dalvik from recovery again and then flash the Old ROM.
Yes a nandroid back up is what I'm referring too.so I go into recovery select back up option to back up the old Rom.what do you mean by if sense version and the Android version of the Rom is the same? How do I know if the 2 are the same?you said to wipe cache& dalvik from recovery before flashing the new Rom.and if there not the same then what do I do?would you please explain.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
What I meant to say was that if the Android software version (for example 2.3.4 (Ginger Bread) or 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) ) & the HTC Sense software version (for example Sense 3.5, Sense 3.6, Sense 4.0) are same for the old ROM that was installed and the new ROM that you want to install, it is sufficient to wipe Cache + Dalvik.
If they are not the same, then you need to format all partitions except SD Card.
To wipe Cache + Dalvik or to Format all partitions:
Switch off your phone.
Remove and re-insert the phone battery.
Press Vol down + Power key to boot to bootloader.
Select Recover.
Choose the option Format | Wipe
Select the action you need to perform.
I'm running a sense Rom right now but I'm going to install a non-sense Rom that why I need to know the difference between a sense and a android version is a Android version a Rom without sense?I don't know how to determine if there the same because if they are I just wipecache & dalvik.what about if there not the same then what do I wipe or do?

If you go to Settings > About phone > Software Information , you can find android version and sense version information is available there.
If you are switch to a Senseless ROM, format all partitions.

Hello all!
I have been trying to fix this problem for over 3 months now with no success. I cannot find no answers on any Android forums or Google. Thus, I have finally decided to start a post explaining my problem.
I got my HTC Inspire during summer. I rooted it using the long method, which I forgot the name of. After that I installed the ROM Leedroid 3.3.3. I also installed the 3.2.1 Kernel that the LeeDroid site has. I have become bored of this ROM and wanted to change into a ROM with Sense 3.0. Here's the problem. I have tried numerous ROMs, which include Honeysense 8.0, Honey3D, Android Revolution 6.1.x, RcMix3D and CyanogenMod 7. The only ROM that works for my phone is the CyanogenMod 7, but I do not like the interface. None of the other ROMs work. I flash them correctly (I know what to wipe so you don't need to suggest I just reflash and try to wipe the dalvik cache etc.), but all of these ROMs, once flashed, when they do the first boot the phone just freezes at the white HTC logo. Now there were a few instances where I had Honeysense 8.0 and Android Revolution load up, but after using them for less than a day, the phone would freeze up in use and I would have to do a battery pull to restart the phone, but it would not load up and stay on the white HTC screen. I would just restore my backup of LeeDroid and it would load up no problem. I also have tried to un-root my phone, then root it again and try one of these ROMs, but the phone would still get stuck on the white HTC screen. Anyone have any idea what the heck is wrong? I am really about to throw this phone out because it has frustrated me beyond belief. Please all the help that you guys can give me would be VERY GREATLY appreciated because I am at a dead end with this issue. Thank you very much.
P.S. I have not changed the Radio. Did not add themes or do anything else before the first boot.
I know you said you didn't do anything else, but did you by chance do any under volting, or over clocking?
Sent from my pos, I mean awesome phone.
Thank you for the response. I have screwed around with SetCPU before but I do not remember if I set the clocks back to and voltage back to default. I have long removed SetCPU from my phone.

hmm I wonder if something went weird when you tried to unroot..if you haven't already tried this method then there is a thread in the dev section for restoring the phone back to "out of the box" state. Not saying this will work or even fix your problem but you can always try that method to unroot and reroot using attn1's hack kit.
Well I tried to unroot it, that is I got back to S-ON and put on the RUU ROM, the one that came with the phone. Then I rerooted using the method you mentioned but no go.

that's so odd, I had some problems flashing at first but that was mainly due to not wiping and restoring system files by accident. My idea to unroot and then reroot to give you a fresh start was my best idea, sorry man I couldn't be more help! hopefully someone here will be able to get you fixed u

Have you tried wiping your sd card through recovery along with everything else. Could be something on sd card jamming you up. Back up sd card to computer first. Mount through recovery. Format from pc side and put stuff back on that you want. Then flash a Rom. It's a long shot but worth a try.

Well to install a ROM I usually clear the cache, clear the system, do a restore, clear the dalvik cache. Basically everything that people say you have to do. For the ARHD 6.1.4 ROM I used SuperWipe that the developer recommends to use. And yes I use the newest version of the Ace Hack Kit to unroot and root my phone.

What do i do? i am willing too do a full wipe or ANYTHING just gte me into recovery.PLEASE

And if that's the case, you can put a Gingerbread ROM on the SD card and reflash that one. Should spin right up.
IF this is your problem
Yes most probably the problem is due to the flashing of the firmware. First flash the firmware required for ICS ROMS and then install the ROM, should work out fine for you

As i said before, i would recommend You to flash a GB ROM version to begin with. Flashing ROM is very easy.
Here are the steps:
Place the ROM on SD card
Place a Wipe script on SD card
Boot in recovery mode
select install zip from sdcard
Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of Wipe script (DON'T CHOOSE REBOOT!!!)
select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the ROM
After flashing is complete, reboot the device.
Good luck
Honestly.....read, read, and then read some more. Before I ever rooted for the first time on my trusty og Droid, I read information for about a week. You shouldn't flash anything until you feel comfortable doing so. If this comes off rude I'm sorry, it's not my intention, just some friendly advice. Good luck and happy flashing.

I just bought a new sensation and I want to root it.so do I go to revolutionary.com and just follow the steps? Is the stock firmware 3.32 or do I need to update it to that?after I get the s-off for security then next do I install 4 ext touch recovery? Is that just a program that I download onto my sensation?and after that's done then can I go ahead and start putting.whatever Rom I want to use on my sensation.I do want to mess up my phone, etc.could someone help me out here alittle bit.and what are some of the biggest reasons why a phone gets bricked?and is it true a phone can always be unbricked? What is your Hboot version? First find out your Hboot version, then you
Can know exactly which method of rooting to use. Revolutionary uses specific h boot versions. So once you find that out then you can move forward using the correct guide. Hope this helps.

Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Hey, don't jump to rooting right away.
You first need to S Off or unlock your bootloader.
Here are the appropriate guides for you:
How to flash ICS 3.32 firmware | flash/update ARHD 6.6.x ICS ROM
Flashing roms with S-ON and 1.2x HBOOT
These are guides for flashing ROMs, & your Hboot version is very important to determine which method will work for you.
For now, it should be sufficient to read through the guide.
Don't try to do it right away, read first, understand & then proceed.
