Sony Xperia U - Camera Problem - General Questions and Answers

Hello friends, after lot of confusion I bought Sony Xperia U yesterday.
Phone is great. I am facing a problem with dedicated camera button. Phone is packed with nice camera, and On screen click works like a charm.
Just the dedicated camera button doesn't respond at all. Someone else is facing the same problem? or is it just me?
P.S When I checked for updates, my phone says all the firmware are up to date. So I guess it's not a software issue.
Please correct me if otherwise

Xperia U
I also have problems with camera button, and also the power button is a bit unstable.. But; i tried another x U in a shop yesterday and i think some covers are bad, cause that one worked the way its supposed to. (sorry for my english, i am scandinavian )

You mean it's not functioning ? you should've tested all the phone's function before you leave the store .. best solution is bring it back to the shop for repair or if they may allow replacement, then it will be better ..

my camera button was a bit stiff and unresponsive at first....but after a bit of usage it gets better..now it works fine...

I found that you have to press and hold the button for it to respond. Its because of the case design, if you remove the backing the button is very responsive.
Design flaw.... YES!

[Q] any solution to Power button sensetivity?

Hi,
Did u feel in your's phone that the power buttom working twice in one click??
Its make me crazy !!!
I checked in "key test" and when i click on the power buttom it's send dubble command
What can i do?
I have this problem as well. The best solution I've found is using CM7 -- there's an option to wake the device with the volume rocker, and it works much easier.
Good luck.
just started noticing this issue on my phone recently - extremely annoying. i wonder if it's the button going bad or if it's the switch itself going bad and getting caught in some kind of weird angle upon release?
HTC said that it is a hardware issue, and why do we need more threads like this? I am sure there have been at least 2.
Hi everyone, just registered here as am having a few pretty big annoyances with my Sensation.
Just wanted to chip in with my experiences of back-button issues; I've already had to send one Sensation back because the button's microswitch went faulty (was stuck on) and it looks like this is a weak link with this hardware.
Has anyone else had the power switch fail on them completely?

home button not working has fixed ***** by:- Sandeep Sivia

Home Button Problem is solved
I solved my problem and got home buttom working as my friend solve my problem he just opened my phone and make separate it all and fixed button with his technique . its has water that stoped my home button and he cleaned it
more thing exact price of Samsung LCD (with sensors and home button) Is 4500/- its by Samsung officially and samsung care people says its of 5100 , one say its of 6300 and so on
its has one cable that connects home and other two buttons and that is easily available , for replacement u need some special trained person to replace ur sensors and ur home buttom nothing big
I would say: Try to wipe everything, somehow get into download mode (from running system/usb jig), and flash the last offical stock full (PIT+BOOT+ROM+MODEM) firmware available. I hope this will also reformat your phone back to RFS, otherwise you'll have a problem.
Then bring the phone to a service center. I think this is a hardware problem, or did you do something special before?
Please wait until someone verifies this.
@Sandeep......as u know you have to give it to service centre for permanent fix....however until that you can try this app called Home Button by black hound from playstore....it will solve ur problem temporarily

thnks for ur rply's but my ph is out of warranty as warranty has expired 20 days ago (my bad luck) now see wht happens . i went to care but they said it comes with display not alone and its of 5100/- and i don't want to spend on this phone i will buy another one
My sister's menu and back button was also damaged (dunno why). It costs alot since the whole touch panel needs to be replaced. So i just installed button saviour from the play store and it saved her phone.

Wow, i didn't think that such a "little" thing needs so much to be replaced.

Xperia Z3 D6633 Touchscreen does not work

With less than 24 hours of use, the touchscreen on my brand new Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633) stopped working. The phone was activated on the T-mobile network (but was not bought at T-mobile because they do not sell the Dual SIM version). The phone has NOT been immersed in water or abused in any way. I was able to power down by holding the Power button and Volume Up buttons. Sony Support said to try and repair the software with PC Companion. That did not work. Sony said I could send it in "for evaluation", but that might take 14 days just to find out what is wrong.
At this point, when I power up I am in the language selection screen and can not continue because I can not select "Done" on the touch screen.
It was suggested that if I boot up holding the Power and Volume Down keys, I would enter "Recovery Mode" and the Volume control could then be used to move up and down on the screen to make selections. However, I enter "Safe Mode" and the Volume control seems to just control the volume (at least there is a volume control slide graphic that seems to indicate the level of volume).
Any thoughts as to how to fix this or is this simply a bad unit that should be replaced with a new working unit?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Better use warranty to get a new one.
What failed -- digitizer or electronics controlling digitizer?

I think I might have to go through the lengthy process of a warranty return though I was hoping there would be a quicker fix.
Does anybody know what could have caused this? How do I know if it is the digitizer or if it is the electronics that controls the digitizer?
Z3 touchscreen
i have exactly the same issue, would love to hear from you as to if you managed to resolve it?
Still waiting with bad touchscreen.

I'm still waiting for a response from the seller, an online store.
I'll post back when I get some results.
similar but not exactly the same
I have similar trouble with Xperia Z3 Dual Sim , TouchScreen frequently stop responding for about 2-3 second , after that it will be ok,it happens 4-5 times from yesterday that I bought my new Xperia Z3 Dual and it's really annoying.
It seems Sony sucks on Xperia Z3 TouchScreens.

[Q] Sleep/Wake Button

Hi All
Last couple of days have noticed my sleep/wake button has lost its feel when pressing it, it still works as it should but feels like the button press is very soft and not like it was from day 1.
I know its probably the first thing to go on the phone being a mechanical part of the phone, but have only had the phone for like 5-6months now.
Anyone else noticed anything like that on theirs? Just wanna know if its normal or am i gonna have to take back (which might take ages as its a Telco locked phoned :/).
its a Z3 D6653, never dropped.
Cheers

Power button problem?

Just bought Z5 dual in green.
Still brand new, 1 hour old.
A moment ago, power button got a bit sticky and would not pop back up.
Therefore could not turn screen on.
It has gone away since, only happened once.
But I am fairly sure that after this episode, power button started to make a tacky clicking sound every time I press the button.
QUESTION
does your z5 make this sound, and it's just that I failed to notice it from the beginning? Is this normal?
Was the power button getting stuck once a fluke, and won't happen again? Or could it be manufacturing defect?
Bit of a hassle to go back to the shop for exchange, and wanted to know if this sound is normal amongst other users or not.
Thanks for your replies in advance!
Any comment or opinion is greatly appreciated!
My power button clicks every time I use it which isn't often since I have tap to wake and the fingerprint sensor set up. Never got stuck though.

Just wanted to check, that my button clicks in sensation when pressed, as well as making the clicking sound at the same time.
Hard to describe, but I would say it sounds similar to a pc mouse clicking sound.
If I was blindfolded and someone wss clicking my power button, I could have thought that someone was using a pc mouse
Yours sounds like this too?
Yeah, it clicks at a slightly higher pitch to the volume key click.

Yes, mine sounds exactly like that.
Got the same issue, it's like the power button is sliding down, and you have to push it up to make it clickable again.
Thanks for your input guys.
I went back to sony centre where I got it from, and checked other Z5's
Since they all made similar clicking sounds, I decided to wait and see how it goes.
If I get the sticky power button again, I will return it.
Other than that, it is running beautifully!
It runs cooler than my Z3 too!
I got this thing too and i dont know if take it back to support... I started to noticed it up when i disabled fingertip sensor to unlock it just to check some stuff.
So maybe its my paranoia lol

Are you talking about the power button not coming back up? Our the stake clicking sound?
Update in my situation
Since the initial problem, it had not happened or repeated again, so I can say that it has worn in nicely.

In the clicking sound
The Power button is clicky. It is not a fault!
The clicking sound is normal but even mine got stuck once, had to press it a few times to get it to come back up. Yours certainly wasn't an isolated incident.
I have been in a shop checking a new one and the button doesnt need to press so much like mine one. The girl has said me that if i send it to support they wont do anything to the phone because it does work well. Its just a little diference touch...
I will send it to support in december that i wil get a phone from a friend so i can use it while the checking thing
I have a gold Z5 (I know!)
They power button slipped downwards under the casing as I used it. EE were actually really helpful for once and replaced it as I'd only had it 4 weeks. Unfortunately the replacement phone has the same issue. It doesn't affect the function of the button at all, I just worry that it will slide down too far into the body and not come up again.
I don't think EE will replace it again as the guy was very nice and tried a few different ways to log the problem until it was accepted for replacement. It seems to be a problem for a few people, but as long as it keeps working I'm not too fussed! Just thought I'd mention it so anyone else with the same issue doesn't feel alone ?
I am having the same problem, Z5 gold rev2, got the phone on 5th february, wich is now 11 days old, power button gets stuck sometimes, thanks God I have double tap to wake, wich makes things less painful, but I am afraid that this could get worse by the time. Otherwise this phone is such a beatuy! works very well, but this with power button ruins good experience that I have with this device.

I am the OP.
My phone has not become worse. Everything the same, and is working all ok.
From my experience, pushing down on the button AND sliding the power button down towards the bottom of the phone at the same time makes it get stuck in that position. So as long as you avoid the sliding down bit, I never encountered a repeat of the problem.
If it does happen, and I have yet to hear of a power button on z5 that got permanently stuck, all you do is slide it up while depressing the power button.
Everything is still water resisting and perfect.
To add, I've been using it naked, and it is surprisingly scratch-free!
