Alright, My contract is ending very soon. So, I'm wanting your opinions on which carrier and device I should choose?
What are you currently using? Is there anything you especially like or dislike about it?
I just upgraded to an SGSII and love it, especially with the active development community here, but I'm also stuck with AT&T.

I got the galaxy s2 att and it's by far my fave phone I ever had it's worth getting the galaxy 3 Supposed to be even better that's what I want

The primary downside to the AT&T SGSII is no LTE (4G). If that's important to you you'll have to avoid that phone. AT&T released a "skyrocket" version that is larger and includes LTE, but it has other differences as well that cause it to have a smaller developer community.
Have you asked friends on other providers how good their 4G service is in your area? Perhaps that would help you determine which carriers are best for you.
What's important to you? Monthly price? Coverage? Unlimited mobile to mobile? LTE in your area or areas you frequent? CDMA technology vs GSM? Having the hottest phone? Customer service? Do you get a discount through school or employer for a specific carrier?

I have an upgrade coming soon and an hoping the Razr HD lands before the data raping and pillaging begins. If not, ilk probably grab the iPhone, sell it and use that money to pick up a Razr HD or SIII, when they finally hit big red. also been contemplating the incredible lte... Tested cyanogenmod 9
I used Cyanogenmod 9 (iyokan for MK16i) and three days ago and found some problems like:
bluetooth not recieving and sending file
usb unrecognition (solved ofter some reboots)
camera didn't work for recording and after exiting from recording mode even didn't open it at all.
So I was mad about new official ICS release that was revealed yesterday.
But it is really cute and beautiful I'm sad to leave it and hoping cyanogenmod's men develop my phone's version A.S.A.P

HTC ONE X
Bro, I currently have a sgs2 and am loving it. Once you find the correct settings for performance v's battery life then it is grand. I have ordered a HTC ONE X as I would love to use it while flying to help me pass my aeronautical acrobatic exam. The camera is out of this world and the battery life is about 3 times better than an sgs2, running it with comparable settings etc. So, if you got the cash go with the HTC ONE X and I am sure you will not be let down. My copilot on one flight had one and it is freakin legendary. Anyways, hope that helps bro.
I would go with either the One X or the Galaxy SIII. im kinda partial to the SIII because i've had my Captivate with CM9 and its wonderful. Carrier wise just go with someone who has better coverage in your area
It´s time for you to learn where to post!!!

I have been wondering what the real size difference between the Galaxy Nexus and my SGS2 SkyRocket really was. I know in dimension they are slightly different. Nexus 4.65" and Rocket 4.5".....but I kept looking at those softkeys and ICS dock and was wondering how much real estate those keys and dock would take.
So here is a comparison between the two. Thanks to +Warren Gary for the Nexus screenshot.
It looks to me like the Nexus has less usable screen space.......I am aware that there are fixes and app adjustments in the works and am in no way bad mouthing the Nexus....I just was wondering so I thought I would share.
Thanks.

Yeah, I found it interesting. Also of interest is my screen shot was 480x800 while the Nexus was 450x800.
I am really liking the SkyRocket....I had thoughts of going to Nexus when it came out, but I do like this 4.5" screen.
But I will be getting something bigger next upgrade.....4.5" is nice but man....the Note's 5.3" is just alluring. LOL
Haha ive been pricing the note the past few days. I really like sammy. And your right notes massive display, and hd makes it very appealing to me. There just so expensive. Im hoping i find one for like 400
Who needs the Nexus Galaxy if you have the Skyrocket?

Yeah but the galaxy note is the ultimate device.. the best in the world. Check it out http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/mobile/index.html

I have been curious about the Nexus screen and if it was truly bigger than the SkyRocket....in terms of usable space, it seems the SkyRocket wins. which is a good thing
Yes this is a good look....
Heres to hoping that the note WILL hit at&t

I wonder if that survey question was refering to the ASUS Padphone?
I wonder if when ICS is available for the Skyrocket if the build will included the on screen ICS nav buttons like the Nexus or if they'll leave that out to save space since the Skyrocket has the hardware buttons.
Its been stated in several different threads. Phones with hardware buttons will not utilize the on screen buttons

I believe the soft keys on the nexus will be absent on our device since we have buttons.
Sent from my SGS2 SkyRocket powered by Mortem Tuam.
I am a Nexus fan since the Nexus One...and was 'planning on' holding out until the Nexus came out before getting the I727R, but I figure I'll just get the Nexus too when it comes out. So right now I have both the Skyrocket and the Galaxy Nexus. (Thankfully the Nexus is a review unit for my website so no need to buy it).
As far as screen space is concerned, there is definitely less landscape if you take the on-screen buttons out of the equation. You really have no choice but to... it's always there. Except when viewing videos including YouTube.
Surprising isn't it? Wanna hear what's more surprising? Watching the same YouTube Video, at the same time, on both devices, on High Definition... you can hardly tell the difference. I found myself admiring the I727R more than the Nexus...all the while thinking that I was actually looking at the Nexus. (Can you blame me? The Nexus is supposed to have the more superior display).
This doesn't mean the display spec on the Nexus is BS...because when you look at the icons, the wallpaper (live and static), you can clearly see the Nexus display stand out. Where you can clearly see some sort of 'grid' (what I call it) or 'Screen lines' on the i727R display...that is no where to be seen on the Nexus.
One more thing, the Nexus screen is longer, where the GS2 LTE is wider...so, its your preference I guess. But if you ask me... I'm glad I bought the GS2LTE, and wouldn't trade it for a Galaxy Nexus even if they gave me an extra $100 on top.
Lol lucky. I wouldnt buy the.nexus but id trade my sr for it..
Lol i just get bored with devices after about a month lol. Lol but i seriously doubt ill ever find someone who wants to trade so ill stick with my sr until quadcores or poasibly the galaxy note
I have both right now and been using the nexus more just because of ics and no lte where I live.

According to Samsung's website, the Note DOES have LTE.
But for me the Note is just too big.
I already find the the SR to be uncomfortable in my pocket, and using the screen one-handed is a stretch...literally!
I'd imagine, for me, it would be a real juggling act to navigate the 5.3" display with one hand.
Rather than pay the money for the Note, you can pick up the SkyRocket AND a nice Android tab and still have a little money left over for accessories for both.
Just my 2 cents.
i have had my GS2 HD LTE for about a week, its of course an import and ill say this by far the most beautiful screen i have ever seen, very smooth and fast UI, and lets not get started on camera and movies, only thing is that i cant use the LTE radio because its not compatible with at&t LTE bands. oh well so i hit up craigslist and traded my white I9100 for a skyrocket i got to say now im torn the LTE is nice i gotta give at&t their props. first speedtest i ran clocked 57mb's on download and 25 upload i thought i was going crazy. screen size HD LTE-4.65", skyrocket 4.5" so u cant really tell to much of a difference, still gotta do some more testing but ill keep everyone posted.

Out of both screens I gotta go with the hd, it's just so clear and defined it really is like watching bluray and DVD.

The hd dosent have any problems
I'm planning to import one (GS2 HD LTE white), and I wonder if it would work in France?
I must buy in USA or in Korea?
Looks like Korea and France both use 2100 for 3G, not sure about 2G but it's probably 900 and 1800. So make sure it has those bands. 4G is a crap shoot.
Where are you importing it from? What retailer?

Probably a question beaten to death on this forum over the last year, but need some advice.
Am in NZ and can order the phone from here
http://www.mobicity.co.nz/samsung-galaxy-s2-hd-lte-e120s.html
Have spoken to people in NZ about getting this over the standard S2, Nexus and the Note. However the HD just seems to combine all of the above into one great package. Good camera, great screen, size and 1.5ghz Dual Core what's not to love?
My reason for asking is, will I be disadvantaged through lack of support being in New Zealand?
As I doubt we will see an OTA update to 4.0 EVER, is the phone easy enough to root and upgrade to ICS without worry about OTA?
Anything further you can supply to eleviate my fears is greatly appreciated and again sorry for rehasing this no doubt tiresome question.

Even in little ole NZ?
Now, tell me, is that phone I linked to in my OP the same dam phone? lol
The Samsung E120 isnt the same phone as the Skyrocket as the E120 was only released in South Korea/International. I'm guessing the US version for ATT would be Skyrocket HD which will have similar stats as the Skyrocket with the 720p resolution. Not sure if that will release since Galaxy 3 is pretty much coming. As for being in NZ I doubt that would be a disadvantage, of course to utilize the 4G LTE you need to be in that area.
As for OTA updates, if they do have any then you can download them via WiFi, heck I'm paying $20/month for data plan for only 300mb on my phone of course I'll get the update via WiFi lol as those updates aren't that small .
As for Samsung Galaxy SII phones in general, yes they are easy to root and update to ICS, of course that also comes with the great support developers have in making it easier for us. So I'm not entirely sure the support for that specific phone if there is a community behind it but if they did an OTA update it should be fairly easy to get.

Just remember - Vodafone in New Zealand (and I assume Telecom is doing it now too) is using 900 MHz for 3G to expand their network. This is happening in some rural areas where there is little to no 2G coverage. What this means, is since these phones ONLY support 900 MHz for 2G, you get no service in these outlying areas where there is only 900 MHz 3G coverage... I found this out the hard way recently with my HTC Nexus one...
I was a little hesitant at first but when I was able to get the phone for 0$, I jumped in. Big incentive. The 4.5" screen is great. A 5.3" NOTE screen would be nice as well but not available for 0$, maybe next year.
After using the phone for a couple of months I am pleased with the hardware. One quibble worthy of note that has never been mentioned is the lack of video stabilization when recording in HD. I had to purchase a tripod/mono-pod setup that would allow me to shoot some stable video. Don't let this be a deal breaker. Remember, this is just a friggin' phone! Any serious video should be shot using a dedicated camcorder. Overall, a good device.

HTC Vigor?
Article about the posibility of Vigor being the successor to the ThunderBolt
http://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-...DROID-Prime-replaces-the-Droid-Charge_id22056
Unofficial pictures of what the ThunderBolt 2 (Vigor) might look like. Not sure if these are legitimate, but if you have a curious insite on this device, I would check it out:
http://posteritytechnology.blogspot.com/2011/08/htc-vigor.html
HTC Vigor is rumored to be an Android 2.3.4 smartphone with 1.5GHz Dual-core processor and 720p resolution 4.3" display. It is expected to replace the HTC ThunderBolt in VZW's line. Other details remain unknown. HTC Vigor features 1GB of RAM, 16 gigs of internal storage, 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras, while on the software front it will run an updated HTC Sense UI, version 3.5.

And even worse by Verizon IMHO. I'm sorry to say that once my T-Bolt dies (this is my second one) I'm swearing off HTC for the foreseeable future. I will stay with a Google Nexus phone or possibly Samsung. I have a love/hate relationship with verizon. Love the coverage I get (even getting 4g way out in the countryside in B.F.E. Minnesota) but HATE LOCKED BOOTLOADERS and the "You root it, it's yours and NO warranty no matter what the problem is/was attitude". Sorry HTC once burned twice shy.
If HTC can't support their existing product and customers then no way I'm touching another HTC product.

In the end, yes Verizon likes to screw you, making their phones CDMA, the only way you're using their phones out of country is using their overseas plans. But from my research its not impossible to change a CDMA phone to work GSM, just very, very hard.
But what really makes me sad is HTC. If developers like Liquid, DVicious, BAMF and etc can bring ICS and possibly Jellybean (not talking Protekk's build, DVicious called him out on Twitter the other day on his BS) then why can't HTC have the frakking ability to use the power & potential the Mecha still has? It's all about Greed.

After all the **** the TB has been through, I doubt they would recycle the name. It would be like calling a new city "new auschwitz" or something similarly depressing.

Best analogy ever.
I haven't posted here since November 2014. As the KitKat+ OS mods became too heavy for Infuse, and whereas the video was a fail since those mods, I ported back to Gingerbread. Yes, I still am using my Infuse, although I have replaced the screen (a fun learning experience). However, when the new Nexus phone comes out in August (or a little later), I'm considering retiring this work horse (emphasis on only "considering").
Anyway, any of the old veterans still around?

I am but long ago retired my infuse.... It went out like old yeller
Goodbye Infuse, Hello Pixel XL
Well, after many years of faithful service from my Infuse, I finally let it go for a Google Pixel XL. It served me well, was a little workhorse, but never really could handle KitKat (I had to return it to Gingerbread). I bid that faithful phone a grateful farewell.

That made me laugh so hard.
I'm still around, veteran of the Infuse, my first Galaxy experience. I don't use it anymore since a very long time, but still keep it as a treasure i guess
I made a lot of friends here thanks to that phone
I still have it on unofficial cm11 and it looks as gorgeous as before. I have to admit I still keep it because I don't want to sell it for less than $50
It still has its original battery which holds like 1 hour of charge when using although it has excellent standby time! It's like my sophisticated 13GB pen drive.
Just dusted off my Infuse because...
Gave away my Note 3. Infuse started me wanting a big phone so I could leave my notebook home.
The Infuse feels so good in my hands.
I now use Huawei P8MAX & a Rii keyboard as my phone/notebook.
Just remembered the reviews saying how few people would buy the Infuse because it was so big. One reviewer called it a "monstrous phone." LOL
waves

I still keep mine going in case my LG V20 becomes unusable for some reason (that happened once, and it happened a couple of times on my Galaxy S4). The Infuse 4G makes for a good "temporary" phone while I wait for parts to arrive.
