I have been wondering what the real size difference between the Galaxy Nexus and my SGS2 SkyRocket really was. I know in dimension they are slightly different. Nexus 4.65" and Rocket 4.5".....but I kept looking at those softkeys and ICS dock and was wondering how much real estate those keys and dock would take.
So here is a comparison between the two. Thanks to +Warren Gary for the Nexus screenshot.
It looks to me like the Nexus has less usable screen space.......I am aware that there are fixes and app adjustments in the works and am in no way bad mouthing the Nexus....I just was wondering so I thought I would share.
Thanks.

Yeah, I found it interesting. Also of interest is my screen shot was 480x800 while the Nexus was 450x800.
I am really liking the SkyRocket....I had thoughts of going to Nexus when it came out, but I do like this 4.5" screen.
But I will be getting something bigger next upgrade.....4.5" is nice but man....the Note's 5.3" is just alluring. LOL
Haha ive been pricing the note the past few days. I really like sammy. And your right notes massive display, and hd makes it very appealing to me. There just so expensive. Im hoping i find one for like 400
Who needs the Nexus Galaxy if you have the Skyrocket?
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda premium
Yeah but the galaxy note is the ultimate device.. the best in the world. Check it out http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/mobile/index.html
that wasn't the point of the post
I have been curious about the Nexus screen and if it was truly bigger than the SkyRocket....in terms of usable space, it seems the SkyRocket wins. which is a good thing
Yes this is a good look....
Heres to hoping that the note WILL hit at&t
WHen is the Note coming? Looks cool.I really like Samsung phones as well..

I wonder if that survey question was refering to the ASUS Padphone?
I wonder if when ICS is available for the Skyrocket if the build will included the on screen ICS nav buttons like the Nexus or if they'll leave that out to save space since the Skyrocket has the hardware buttons.
Its been stated in several different threads. Phones with hardware buttons will not utilize the on screen buttons

I believe the soft keys on the nexus will be absent on our device since we have buttons.
Sent from my SGS2 SkyRocket powered by Mortem Tuam.
I am a Nexus fan since the Nexus One...and was 'planning on' holding out until the Nexus came out before getting the I727R, but I figure I'll just get the Nexus too when it comes out. So right now I have both the Skyrocket and the Galaxy Nexus. (Thankfully the Nexus is a review unit for my website so no need to buy it).
As far as screen space is concerned, there is definitely less landscape if you take the on-screen buttons out of the equation. You really have no choice but to... it's always there. Except when viewing videos including YouTube.
Surprising isn't it? Wanna hear what's more surprising? Watching the same YouTube Video, at the same time, on both devices, on High Definition... you can hardly tell the difference. I found myself admiring the I727R more than the Nexus...all the while thinking that I was actually looking at the Nexus. (Can you blame me? The Nexus is supposed to have the more superior display).
This doesn't mean the display spec on the Nexus is BS...because when you look at the icons, the wallpaper (live and static), you can clearly see the Nexus display stand out. Where you can clearly see some sort of 'grid' (what I call it) or 'Screen lines' on the i727R display...that is no where to be seen on the Nexus.
One more thing, the Nexus screen is longer, where the GS2 LTE is wider...so, its your preference I guess. But if you ask me... I'm glad I bought the GS2LTE, and wouldn't trade it for a Galaxy Nexus even if they gave me an extra $100 on top.
Lol lucky. I wouldnt buy the.nexus but id trade my sr for it..
Lol i just get bored with devices after about a month lol. Lol but i seriously doubt ill ever find someone who wants to trade so ill stick with my sr until quadcores or poasibly the galaxy note
I have both right now and been using the nexus more just because of ics and no lte where I live.

According to Samsung's website, the Note DOES have LTE.
But for me the Note is just too big.
I already find the the SR to be uncomfortable in my pocket, and using the screen one-handed is a stretch...literally!
I'd imagine, for me, it would be a real juggling act to navigate the 5.3" display with one hand.
Rather than pay the money for the Note, you can pick up the SkyRocket AND a nice Android tab and still have a little money left over for accessories for both.
Just my 2 cents.

I tried the vibrant (first time i left htc android phones) and i was extreamly disapointed just because of that i wouldnt :/ but thats just me
I think the difference here would be the updates would be coming from google not samsung, hardware on my old vibrant was awesome, well except the plastic feel, its software that held it back.
Btw love the look and feel of my mt4g better
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I am. I am a Vibrant owner transitioning to MT4G. Transition has not been smooth: Both handsets I have been sent so far have dust under the screen. Plus I really don't like the MT4G screen...
Only thing is the plastic build, why Samsung?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Hell no! Why would I want to leave what I have now for a plastic feeling phone? Plus, if you ask me its a downgrade. No 4G, really? This is where they lost me. Why build what most will look at as a super phone, but leave out the new speeds in 4G? I rather have 4G over gingerbread any day.
biggest deal breaker for me is no HSPA+
Nobody ever said it didn't come with HSPA+. I doubt that it wouldn't if it is to be such a big hit for them. I also came from a Vibrant and like everyone said, the hardware was great but the software and Samsung support wasn't.
I like the mt4G and I'll stick with it until something more revolutionary comes out. The Nexus S just looks like an iphone wannabe to me (in terms of looks). No thanks.
Yeah...don't jump with "No HSPA+ love"
I have to say, this looks promising, and if it has at least the specs of Galaxy S + HSPA+LED Flash+ FF Camera/Video Chat... Aaaand Gingerbread!!! THAT's the killer folks....
SUX PART for me...... my MT4G is coming in mail in the next few days.
I would never give up my MT4G for a Samsung phone even though updates will come from Google I've been burned way to many times by different Samsung phones I've had in the past not gonna take the chance. If it was a HTC that would be a whole different ball game.
If I had know it was coming out soon I would've waited to check it out.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I'm interested, but I really enjoy this myTouch 4G.
I had the Vibrant, and absolutely loved it save for two things: the GPS/Compass problem (which was never fixed), and the lag in the OS. Besides that, I loved the screen and the media playback.
The Nexus S would have to pull some **** to woo me. I'm talking: first-party docks, physical camera button, HSPA+.
Depending on how nice Android 2.3 'Gingerbread' is, I might buy one just to play around with it, before I decide if I'm going to hold onto the myTouch 4G for a while. If T-Mo doesn't plan on updating the firmware, then that may weigh in on my decision. Otherwise, the myTouch 4G is kind of everything I was waiting for, with a little bit of stupid carrier bloat.
I read somewhere that T-Mo stated something along the lines of: '...we're not going to update the firmware unless there's a real reason to', in regards to the myTouch 4G. If that's the case, I may return it.
For now, I just want to enjoy this awesome phone. This is hard, of course, when 4-5 of the nicest phones you've ever seen leaked today. What a crazy day!
If the Nexus S was made by HTC I'd either be be crying my eyes out right now or be racing to the nearest t-mobile store with my MT4G all nicely packed up and ready to go (today is last day of my remorse period). I was a bit reluctant to buy the MT4G because I was really wanting a Nexus 2. Ended up liking the MT4G so much that I was quite content giving up on the Nexus 2, especially since we have perm-root. Now that I know the Nexus S is made by Samsung I couldn't be happier with my decision not to wait around.
Oh and according to the leaked BestBuy documents the Nexus S supports EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900MHz, HSUPA 5.76/7.2 900/1700/2100MHz, HSUPA 5.76/7.2 900/1700/2100. Anything missing?
If this has a non-RFS based filesystem and a working GPS, it could be a nice phone.
However, the new Samsung phone coming in February looks nicer with a larger, s-amoled 2 screen and HSDPA+ but it doesn't seem to have a FFC.
The first thing I noticed was the absence of a track ball/pad. That made cursor navigation VERY frustrating on the Vibrant. Plus, they kept that ity-bity volume rocker. I’ll bet that wee power button is positioned the same too. That made me want to pull my teeth out. I don’t see any REAL evidence of a notification LED, as the proxy/light sensors can be mistaken for just that. I shudder to think it has the same GPS and compass hardware as the Galaxy S line. The leaked spec sheet shows NO HSPA+. Same Vibrant all-plastic body too.
Without more evidence I will assume that the Nexus S is just a Vibrant with a bigger screen, FFC & LED flash. Pretty much what the Vibrant SHOULD have been on release.
Gingerbread? We’ll all have that in time. Especially on current rooted phones. Faster CPU? Doubtful. Who cares, if my above assumptions are even half correct.
Absolutely not what I would expect from something branded as a Nexus. SAMOLED is nice though. MT4G wins in my book.
http://www.tmonews.com/2010/11/nexus-s-specs-leaked/ Nexus S may not has HSPA+
I must say I'm definitely intrigued. I own the MT4G and I'm definitely happy with it but I am curious about the Nexus S mostly because Nexus One was considered such a good phone and I figure follow up to it has to be just as good if not better.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Let's not forget that G2 and MT4G is T-Mo's own branding and marketing so "T-Mobile phone = HSPA+ love"
Why are you guys liking the MT4G when it has dust under the screen? Should just go for the Nexus S

That would only hold true if both phones were made by the same manufacturer. Since the N1 was made by HTC and the Nexus S by Samsung all bets are off. For what it's worth this phone could be called anything. Just because it's called Nexus doesn't mean it'll follow up where the N1 left off.
I never owned one, and even now I'm a big supporter of Samsung and their products. I owned their mp3 (YP-P2) and it's simply amazing. I own two of their LCD monitors as well and also a laser printer, and they are all working perfectly.
So why so much hate on the Samsung?
I remember reading this one post of this guy saying never again will he own another Samsung phone from his experience with one of their phones... the Galaxy probably?
because their phones suck
I had a Galaxy S and after being with HTC for my previous Android phones it was like going from a BMW to a Hyundai. Felt like Fisher Price made it.

anyways here's why i hate them
awful gps... my ex galaxy s, now my sisters phone never gor the gps working

I had a samsung clamshell dumbphone, and it was the most solid phone I've ever owned. Sure, the GUI was terrible.. but it worked great otherwise! lol.
I think the simple answer is because you are on the xda forums. Many members here (myself included) are very loyal to HTC manufactured phones. It is much like asking why there is so much hate for Dell on an Apple forum. The demographic makeup of the posters will trend towards users with some level of brand loyalty.
Additionally Samsung may or may not have inferior build quality in general, but it is a natural tendency for users to have more negative opinions of products they declined vs ones they chose. It is a subconscious way of enforcing contentment with their decisions.
I am not saying that there are no perfectly valid and real reasons to choose HTC over Samsung, or vice versa. What I am suggesting is that the trend towards negativity is impacted by the demographic of users on the forums.
After having the vibrant and the captivate they both just feel cheap to me and plastic like compared to sprint evo or google G2. I love the feel of a solid phone. Compare the original N1 to the NS by samsung just my to cents.

I have a G2 and a Vibrant. I happy with both phones, but it took a long time to get the Vibrant to that level. The G2 out of the box was very good experience, but with CM6 I can't a reason to try anything else. Eventually the Vibrant will get there someday after Samsung and the carriers can get on the same sheet of music.

maybe get a samsung phone first... There are plenty of companys that do some things good...
try a samsung phone, ive hated the two i had for a short while.
The Vibrant was by far the most poorly made device I've ever owned. Cheap plastic, corners cut on design in places that made a huge difference (volume rocker was garbage). It was TOO light, due to the crap material used. Plus, the gps couldn't get a lock no matter how long I waited.
It nearly soured me on android, as it was my first device with this glorious OS. I got tmobile to swap my Vibrant for the G2 (after 40 days lol) and I couldn't be happier.

I'm actually a fan of samsung phones. I don't know why but I've never had that much problems with it that couldn't be solved. Yes it does feel cheap, but I've never had an actual broken phone because of dropping or any other physical harm. This is coming from a previous spica user, an international version of galaxy s (not really mine but I've held it more than the actual owner did..), and now a tab (which does actually feel way better than the previous two).
My friends own htc phones, and while I do admit they feel more solid compared to sammys, I'm contented with my phones already.
The SGS series has too many problems going for it compared to the HTC series, especially on XDA where the HTC community is strong.
Nexus S is a different story though.
What do you guys think should i switch from the infuse to the Galaxy S2? If i do i have to sign another 2 yrs with at&t :O + it will be $250 outta my pocket however i could sell my infuse for like $175/$200
how the hell can we tell you what you should and should not do ? if you want to move on DO IT
Have you played with one? You may not like the smaller size if you're coming from an Infuse. Also, the S2 is far from the best these days. You might want to spend the extra $50 and get the Skyrocket. It's the same size as the Infuse, it's faster and can be upgraded to ICS when the time comes.

Infuse vs S2
I took advantage of that $.01 sale at Amazon and bought two s2's for my wife and daughter...added new lines to family account and all was well...I thought due to the hype surrounding the s2's, I would be jealous and find a way to swap with the wife...
10 minutes after opening the box and setting them up, I was glad I was keeping the Infuse...The screen size diff. believe it or not is VERY apparent, at least to me...
And besides the diff. asthetics, it does not come with an SD card or HDMI Mini cable...Not big deals by themselves, but I expected MUCH more from these based on what I have read...
For $.01 they certainly are a "deal", but switching from an Infuse(and IMHO down) to the s2 provides nothing but proc. speed and Gingerbread...
I am an "average user" so the faster proc'r means nothing to me by itself...I actually took all three phones and loaded the s2's with some of the same apps I use daily on my Infuse...
I will keep the Infuse...

This is great. Im sorry but im not gonna take someones word on a phone and buy it. Go play with one, buy it and move on. If u want performance get a skyrocket.

I say screw that data speed I get 5down and 2up on infuse. I would rather sg2 over skyrocket better hardware and even screen quality is equally as good as Infuse faster CPU,gpu but still has great developer support that's where some developers probably went. That is why I consider sg2.
Really only reason I am considering a new phone is someone letting me have their new line phone I would pick out pay new line price for my tricked out infuse. Really if I say no they just going to get infuse and want me to do it to theirs.

What do you guys think should i switch from the infuse to the Galaxy S2? If i do i have to sign another 2 yrs with at&t :O + it will be $250 outta my pocket however i could sell my infuse for like $175/$200

I have had my s2 for a bit now coming from an infuse and i would have to say if screen size isn't an issue for you the make the jump! My wife has an infuse that i toy with still (running ICS MIUI) but you can see a big difference with performance. I miss the size of my infuse but I am happy with this s2 until the s3 or something better comes out!

Agree with uaguilar. I have the gs2 and wife has infuse (w/ miui, too). Performance difference is significant. Play with one for a little while and you'll see where it's noticeable. ATT has a decent trial/return policy, so check out one of them. Don't get me wrong, infuse is a great phone, but the others are good upgrades.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Do you care about sound quality through headphones? Would you miss the screen size 4.5 vs 4.3? If not go with S2
I chose the infuse over the S2 and worked out quite abit cheaper. I value the music sound the most. Ask supercurio about the S2 sound it's a dissapointment.

I'm waiting to see what Samsung has to offer, I'm not due for a new phone until June anyway.

Exactly the same situation here. If Samsungs new device sucks then its definately gotta be the S. Just hoping that the Galaxy's screen isnt as big as the One X's one. It's just too much... :what:

Well, even though it has it critics, and I do go through periods of using AOSP (and prob will on the S once it's available and stable) I still think Sense is the best custom UI on Android. Simple really, SGS3 can't match that element

Supposedly its going to have a 1080p screen, to me this is a bad thing.
1) I bet it is bigger than the ONE S and I wasn't quite happy with the size of the ONE X
2) It takes more horse power to run it, so its processor and graphics may be higher but side by side performance will probably be similar due to it having to push more pixels about the place. Also.. 1080p.. on a phone... What's the F'in point??
First i'm 100% sure that Galaxy S III won't have 2gb of ram neither 1080p screen. Its a next generation and since theres obvious settlement betwen manufacturers you can expect same specs as One X. And i'm also pretty sure that it won't have SD card, every manufacturer stops using them, why should they use them, about removable battery i'm not sure, if new galaxy is gonna be thinner then i guess it will have non removable battery.
I think the S3 will have 4.7 screen, so its big, also display will be as good as X. About other specs - I suspect quad core processor, some good graphic component, rumors about 12mp camera.
But anyway, there are only rumors atm, and Im not fan of S2, so I will go for One S as soon as it avaible here

but on 3rd may we might get some new infos (... no rumours)
however a display bigger than 4,6" is much to big for my taste...
if thats going to happen, i probably will get myself a ONE S
If it takes T-mobile US as long as it did to get the Galaxy S 2....i'm not waiting.
But then again, i don't want to wait. Im tired of Samsung's plastic devices, ugly touch wiz, and international Galaxy S3 will be different from the US Galaxy S3, which will hinder dev support.
Im sure the one s will have great dev support like the sensation. Every one S around the world will be the exact same and will run the same roms.
The only thing i was hating about htc phones was the bad slcd screen, so happy theres amoled now, and i dont care if its pentile.

There is a rumor tht the one x is coming to Tmo with stock ics. I know the gs3 will be beast but I hate touchwiz and love sense. I had a mt4gs and now have a sg2 and touchwiz kills it. There is no stock ics that's working well, and no sense .: /. I want the One s or the One x one tmobile, but would get the gs3 if there is a stock ics rom

Samsung gps
I am ready to upgrade from my Vibrant. I like my Samsung but the GPS is crap. I'm not sure I would trust a Samsung gps. I keep waiting for the gps to run me over a cliff. Is any Samsung gps as good as HTC?
nothing compares to HTC GPS. I can get a lock in under 15 seconds. no tweaks.
i never lose the satellite. Its found me home many times
kinda yes, I really like GS2 and SAMOLED Plus is great. But we still don't know if GS3 will be SAMOLED HD or SAMOLED HD Plus. It's most likely be the same size as One X, packing same or better CPU, probably same or better quality camera, and most likely missing things like notification light and noise canceling mic.
Already got one s and prefer HTC build

Same boat as @tf442. I have a "first month out" Vibrant and GPS has been abysmal from the get-go. I have flashed at least a dozen ROMS (probably more)from Bionix, Trigger all the way to ICS 4.0.4 and they vary, but still no where near other manufacturers GPS. I will not give $$$ to Samsung since they went on the pine in acknowledging any issues with GPS. That, and quit with FROYO. Not good for a top-end phone at the time.
I am eligible for upgrade now, but I don't think I am going to. I might wait out until mid to end-year to upgrade. I am pretty satisfied with my G2 still. Everyone swears it's a great backup phone, but I like it as my main phone all the same.

Dear all,
LG did it again! I loved the first Flex... and after to meet the Flex2 all the other mobiles look generation back. Why you are looking for it?
Just we can collect here our impressions and suggests...
Regards,
Let's hope the development is a lot easier on this. And I'm kinda disappointed by the smaller screen. I don't think I can go smaller than my current flex. When I hold other phones they feel like little kid phones

Well I think Lg nailed it personally. I loved the first one but it was a tad too big, with 5.5 inches it'll be much easier to Manage, also the specs are amazing.

Yeah the specs are awesome ill say that. Camera could have been bumped up a notch though
Wonder if everyone will jump from the G3 to the Flex 2.
Do we start taking bets on how long till the BL gets a workaround lol?

I don't think many ppl will jump ship. The Flex 2 will be expensive when it comes out I'm guessing, plus it really is the same as The G3 but curved and bumped up specs which is fantastic for me since I never owned a G3 yet. But for those G3 owners I think they'll wait for other snapdragon 810 phones to come out.

I don't know about that... http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g-flex-2-price-amazon-de-579879/
The LG G Flex 2 was recently unveiled at CES 2015 and comes packing plenty of cutting edge hardware, including LG’s latest flexible display and Qualcomm’s new high-end processor. According to a listing on Amazon.de, the LG G Flex 2 will retail for around €599.99 off-contract. This will probably work out to around $600 in the US, give or take, based on the usual price differences.
This puts the G Flex 2 just on the cheaper side of your typical flagship smartphone and certainly isn’t an unreasonable price for a handset featuring a 5.5-inch 1080p flexible display, 13MP OIS+ camera, Snapdragon 810 processor, and a self-healing cover. However, what isn’t clear is whether this is the 2GB RAM/16GB storage or 3GB RAM/32GB storage variety of the handset, although the price probably suggests the former. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of a release date either, although pre-orders are available now via the link.
If you would like a closer look at what the G Flex 2 has to offer for €599.99, check out our coverage of the launch announcement and our time spent going hands-on with the handset at CES.

Thanks, comparing to the Exynos 7420 leaks of S6 it's not dragging behind much, but it does pull the shorter straw in all tests, especially multitasking and CPU integer/float-point. Obviously we have to see how the S6 does in real life later.
Since AnTuTu tests a lot of different areas the result can vary a bit depending on heat, current load on the system etc.
