Actually after that we have 2G which to me are like sprints speeds where I'm located just moved from sprint to T-Mobile and icouldnt be any happier

Ah man,are you serious? Oh well 5GB is enough for me. Ill try to use wifi mostly to stretch the 5gb throughout the month.
Also, after the 5gb, are you sure it's 2g for every one and not just your area?

Well I'm not sure but I still feel like I could get stuff done is just YouTube seems too slow I think 5GB is much better then sprint service for sire ans cheaper then Verizon and att for me(which they got great coverage in my area too)

What the hell 5Gb?! Mine is only 2GB lol. After you exceed the limit, you will be reduced to 2G Edge speed until the next billing cycle (monthly). I set up my data plan back when the G1 was new and still have the same one haha.

I use an average of 2.5 out of 5 every month. I got tired of them showing me down so I upgraded to the 5gb plan. They won, I love my data.

For the price T-Mobile monthly is a way better deal than the competition, I pay $60 flat for my service & love it
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium

At the moment I'm on throttle thanks to T-Mobile, I have the 5gb data and once you pass that your data gets throttle to 2g, but personally I believe is slower than 2g. Takes for ever to load a Facebook page, Pandora and YouTube are useless. But anyway I have two more days of this throttle speeds then back to normal.

Well then you should have unlimited data now. You screwed yourself by not getting unlimited data when it was available.
I am a 9 year T-Mobile subscriber and have unlimited data (120$ two phones). Every time I talk to T-Mobile they try to give me a 3rd line for same price I pay for two lines now but catch is to go to 5gb limit. I tell them no way I am giving up my unlimited plan! LOL

by the looks of my data usage im guessing that i will be one of the few that gets throttled
anyone else?
I'd be all in favor of this under the following stipulations:
1. You don't go from full speed to EDGE in one shot. 25% increments or something.
2. You are given fair and ample warning at all stages and before each tier drop
3. They bring back the $30 unlimited plan
Well I'm in the 30 dollar unlimited plan.and I say no. I payed for it, and I should have it all not some of it.

I think this is just AT&T wanting you to change data plans so they don't have to have unlimited stuff anymore. Just another way to gouge us with fees.
Yeah well at that rate I prolly will have to.I can't stand any slower speeds than I have now, and then they wanna make it slower...well good job att.guess you win again.I know that 30 unlimited is prolly overpriced...but then you say " hey I got unlimited so its worth it" not the case anymore.

This month is gonna be close (6 more days and at 1800MB). After that I'll loophole myself into unlimited and stop caring.

I think they are doing this so we don't rape their LTE network when it's launched. Regardless it's still lame on att's part. It would also be nice if they at least gave us a ballpark of what the top 5 percent are consuming.

Is att unlimited or "unlimited"? My first att phone was an iPhone 2nd Gen. I got grandfathered into the unlimited plan when I got my captivate.
I was not worried about it before but now I have Netflix on the go. Its starting to guzzle bandwidth.

Why the "data-hungry" label? Anybody with a smartphone, especially one with Android 2.2 and up, Windows Phone 7, and yes the iOS, all deserve to be able utilize their devices in any manner they want. Is this not what customers pay for? Is this not the the job that T-Mobile agrees to assume when you sign agree to a contract? We have the technological means to provide substantial and stable internet every where wirelessly.
Today’s smartphones offer amazing experiences, and consumers are increasingly relying on them for everything from navigation, entertainment and shopping to just staying connected.

This re confirmes what I said about anybody with a smartphone should be able to use it as they want. Our smartphones are for all intent and purposes computers. Yes they like some functionality that a laptop or desktop that runs windows, Mac, or a Linux Destro, but not many. I mean with root explorer you can unzip a ROM and add files or delete files, you can even create or edit scripts. Then re zip the ROM and flash it to your device. You can actually extract .apk files and .jar files you just can not rebuild them yet.

Well in the news release it says we won't be able to share with "other devices". I have my ideas but I'd rather not being them out into the open even though they've probably already thought of every angle. But tmo has plenty of spectrum to allow us "hungry" users to use the network at its fullest. I was actually going to leave tmo for sprint in October for that simple fact. Needless to say, I'm gonna stick around for a bit

From Straight Talk AT&T to Go Phone LTE.....

If you plan on doing it, DO IT!! In case you don't know, AT&T Go Phone is their prepaid services and they introduced new plans that offer LTE back on June 21. I just did less than an hour ago and boy does it feel great. All of our phones are data driven and it is important to have good data speeds otherwise your experience can be ruined, waiting for stuff to load. Everything is lightning fast, even sending text messages is pretty much instant vs before there was a slight delay. I recommend anyone who has the straight talk AT&T to move on to the Go Phone AT&T LTE. It's only 60$ a month plus tax so let's round it up at 65$. That's less than 20 bucks a month from straight talk but with up to 10 times the speed (and I'm not exaggerating) . Here's a sample:

Wow this thread is old. I was using Straight talk 45 a month, LTE speeds. 5gb a month unlimited everything else. In the beginning it worked great, however, it turned into a horrible experience. I was with them for almost 4 years without any issue. Here's what happened........I was about half way through my month, When I noticed my data speeds were horribly slow! So bad I couldn't watch a video, and browsing the Web took like 10 minutes to load a website page!
So I called Straight talk 1800 number, which by the way is a whole different discussion. Lol. I was told I went over my data limit. I asked if I bought another 45 card would my data b reinstated, he said yes, so I bought it and added it. I noticed my speeds were still horrid! Well this went on for over a week, I called back and they said everything was fine on their end lol. So I decided to buy another Sim card and another 45 card. The second I switched Sims and added the 45 dollar card with a new phone number, my speeds magicly came back! So what happens is when someone watches a lot of videos, and uses all their data, straight talk sees that and throttles you forever!
I decided to switch to go phone ATT prepaid service. It's 10 bucks more a month, but they don't drop u to 1x speeds when u run out of data, they drop it to 3g. And I now have the option to add as many gigs of LTE I want at 10 bucks a gig. This is the way to go! Screw Straight talk! 4 years I was with them and they acted like I wasn't with them at all! Anyways I hope this post helps other people to leave Straight talk! They are garbage! Never again!

Vzw upgrade & keep unlimited date

So today I heard that ppl were able to upgrade and keep unlimited data thru vzw. So I tried it, considering I have three lines with unlimited and due for an upgrade. Yes, I just did it this morning. I have 4 lines with unlimited and talk n text $20 dollar discount. 3 of the lines I upgraded before unlimited ended to GS3.
The fourth line was on an iPhone 4S and due for an upgrade. Got the iphone 5s and everything seems to indicate that its still the unlimited and my discount will be retained.
From what I've read online, some people were able to do store pickups and their receipt did show unlimited being retained. Only problem for us is that the 5S doesn't ship for quite some time and verizon can always end up cancelling.

Just my opinion, you'll lose the unlimited. Nothing is free in life

Good news to those who took advantage.

There was no way they were going to continue unlimited data at this point. I upgraded two summers ago and kept it, but I believe they only offered that because so many people grumbled.
I switched from a family to a single user plan shortly after renewing and they cut my contract in half without me prompting them. I went from two years to one and kept the same monthly price. They're trying to get rid of unlimited data as fast as they can. I'm grabbing a nexus 5 and switching to t mobile this December when my year is up. Verizon's service isn't as great as it's cracked up to be.

Good on Verizon for honoring their mistake. I hope they don't screw it up, though.

Looks like it was easier to honor their mistake then to go thru all the trouble of correcting it!

A question off topic; out of the vzw smartphone currently available which is the most recommended by the xda community?

Your much better off searching yourself for the features you want. Your posting this question on a Verizon S3 forum post, where most users browsing it are S3 users and most users don't have a lot of experience with other devices.

So today I heard that ppl were able to upgrade and keep unlimited data thru vzw. So I tried it, considering I have three lines with unlimited and due for an upgrade. I was able to upgrade my wife's line to 5s ( yeah I know iPhone) and ordered myself a s4. and got confirmation. Emails that confirm that unlimited date was included
Anyone else try this?

There is no "best" deal, but a popular one I know of and use is with T-Mobile, a non-contract $30 a month plan with unlimited data(first 5gb at 4g speed) unlimited texting and 100 talking minutes. I rooted my phone and can now tether without the fee and I use an app to make free phone calls. 5gb of data is a lot for phone usage, even if you tether it should last you a month. If you're looking for a home internet service though you should still order wifi because 4g speed isn't great on laptops.
i have sprint.. been with them almost 4 years.. i love them.. well service sucked for a while but now i get great 4g lte in my state so im happy.. i get unlimited talk.. text.. data.. and use wifi tether all the time with no issues.. i would hate to have a limit on data..

I'm with T-mob and pay much more than you for pretty much the same thing. What apps are you using?
