How far off is your accelerometer - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got the 7" yesterday, and noticed the accelerometer is off by about 2 degrees when held straight up in portrait mode on a level surface.
Just wondering if this is normal. Here is a link to the bubble level app to test it with.

Thanks.

I found the accelerometer commands are not correct, my app which does not use any of the depreciated methods for pitch and tilt do not work correctly on the tab (works fine on all phones to date). Some apps work correctly, but I assume they use the old methods. Note sure why, alot of tablets don't work correctly with the accelerometer.

Screen Orientation Suggestion

Firstly, thanks so much for all the work you guys did and shared here.
I've noticed that the default screen orientation is landscape for VEGAn-Tab and probably for TnT Lite also, which brings all the games with tilting control useless. It's also a headache for people who got used to portrait screen on phones (eg. reading in bed while placing the tab on side). Is there a way to change the default orientation to portrait in some Mod version? Or there is a way to fix this already that I didn't realize?
Saying "default at landscape" I mean when you lock the orientation/shut the auto rotate or start a game, the screen locks at landscape. For example, while playing those racing game or so, we have to tilt front/back to actually control the car to left/right -_-
Thanks!
Some games actually work, so I think the general understanding is that other games have something hardcoded incorrectly, for tablets. This is also the reason why the vendors themselves haven't fixed this, yet.
There is a way to rotate the screen to portrait, in Froyo. But, the calibration is totally borked, when you do that.

[Q] Issues with standard android apps & games on Xoom - Any Solutions?

Hello,
I have noticed on certain standard android apps a number of issues that I have come across. I have tried with auto-rotation on and off of screen in settings. I have restarted my Xoom also. I don't have any of these issues with any of the tablet apps.
1. First off Jetcar Stunts, and Return Zero the menus are normal and function fine, but when you go into a race the screen looks like it is tilted at 45 degree angle. If you turn your Xoom vertical, the screen will level out, but you are looking at the car on the left side of the screen.
2. Several racing games TurboFly 3d and couple of others I cant think off of the top of my head work fine and the screen is in the right position, but to when you tilt to the left it turns the car to right, and vise verse the other way. The turning controls have been switched.
3. Adao File Manager, Adao Uninstaller, ishoot, and Medieval Castle retain their original size of an android phone. Is there any way to zoom in or have these apps stretched to fit the screen? The ipad lets you view iphone apps standard size and stretched size.
Anybody experiencing these problems, or have any solutions?
Thank you for your input.

Install "Spare Parts" free from the market.. Open it and uncheck the box for compatibility mode... Might not fix every issue as some things just refuse to run on HoneyComb yet but it should fix some of them. It will absolutely fix your last section where the apps don't fill the screen.
The problem is not you, or anything you did. The issue is honeycomb. Not all apps are compatable yet. It was like trying to run a win xp app on win 7 when it first dropped. Didnt work. Just wait. They will be updated eventually.
Thank you,
The spare parts helped with the apps that was stuck in their native resolution. It now fills the whole screen.
Yep... I'm waiting, too... seems Napster, SiriusXM, and my banks' apps aren't even showing up as installable on my Xoom - but they all show up on my Pure running XDAndroid! (waiting for July so I can upgrade to a real Android phone ).
I immediately put this all down to the fact that Honeycomb is so new, the devs didn't have opportunity to build versions compatible with it... yet.
But... this begs a question... I'd love to be able to copy the .apk's from apps I directly-installed on my XDAndroid port, onto the Xoom and see if they'll run anyway... but I can't seem to find the apk's. Being a noob on Android still, can anyone tell me how I can get a hold of these app files, or does the Market simply download, install, and delete?
Thanks...

[Q] Errant Sensor Behavior ??

Overall, I am very pleased with my TF. Last night, however, I found two oddities.
Bubble: This is a popular carpenter's level app. It works great on my phone. On my TF, it works correctly on one axis and backwards on the other.
Compasses: I have now tried three different compass apps. Even after calibration and recalibration, they all point West instead of North.
Is there something irregular about the sensors in the TF?
For the compass, are you holding it flat (parallel with the ground)?
Yes ... duh!
If you have a compass app that knows where North is on a TF, please share.
You have to configure them. Loads of info all over the forums for this. I'll let you search.

Orientation problem.

I have a problem. My wife uses screebl on her NS4G and for some reason it's not working now. What screebl does is it detects if the device is laying flat or being held vertically.
I used a sensor monitor app to see what's up. It appears the gyroscope isn't working. The compass isn't working either but I think that is cause of the gyro.
What's funny is it still goes from portrait / landscape modes ok.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
She is running BLACK ICE 40.5 matrix kernel.
Ok. I did a full wipe and everything is working again. Don't know what happened but it's fixed now.

A8 + Gear VR : accelerometer misconfigured?

I just got a brand new A8, and I also bought a Gear VR headset for it (version 323/2016). When I put the phone in for the first time, it talks to the headset, installed all the apps as you'd expect.
Now, this this is where the problems start. It appears it is somehow faulty. I have vertical head movement, and tilt head movement, but nothing horizontal. Like it's completely missing an accelerometer axis or something.
Going into the sensor tests via *#0*#, everything largely seems ok. Except if I pay close attention to the accelerometer. It seems to only register tilt forward/back (on two axis, Y and Z, which are 90 degrees apart) and rotate left/right. There isn't anything for movement left-right. If the headset were using gyro or magnetic that would be ok, but the accelerometer is... misconfigured? Maybe a firmware update needed?
Hi, I've the same gear vr and everything works ok. I've tested it with the last arb6 update and with the one before that.
I don't know precisely the sensors used during vr sessions.
