Overall, I am very pleased with my TF. Last night, however, I found two oddities.
Bubble: This is a popular carpenter's level app. It works great on my phone. On my TF, it works correctly on one axis and backwards on the other.
Compasses: I have now tried three different compass apps. Even after calibration and recalibration, they all point West instead of North.
Is there something irregular about the sensors in the TF?
For the compass, are you holding it flat (parallel with the ground)?
Yes ... duh!
If you have a compass app that knows where North is on a TF, please share.
You have to configure them. Loads of info all over the forums for this. I'll let you search.
Just got the 7" yesterday, and noticed the accelerometer is off by about 2 degrees when held straight up in portrait mode on a level surface.
Just wondering if this is normal. Here is a link to the bubble level app to test it with.

Thanks.
I found the accelerometer commands are not correct, my app which does not use any of the depreciated methods for pitch and tilt do not work correctly on the tab (works fine on all phones to date). Some apps work correctly, but I assume they use the old methods. Note sure why, alot of tablets don't work correctly with the accelerometer.
I have downloaded several compass apps but none is pointing north. Anyone with same problem?
I am using Catch.com's compass app from the Market and it is pointing North fine.
Does your Google Maps report your location correctly? Also, you may want to turn Wi-Fi Location on as well. (Settings>>Location services>>Google's location service [checked]) Also, make sure GPS satellites is checked there.
Tf700's specifications says it has an electronic compass, so no gps is needed to point north.
I tryed catch.com's compass and guess what... it works, its pointing north.
The other compasses still dont work, so catch.com is the one to use.
Thanks for the tip.

Mine doesn't even work with catch.com's app. I rotate the device slowly a full 360 deg. and it moves the needle about 45 deg.
This makes certain apps like SkySafari, SkyMap etc. virtually useless.
Does anyone know of a technique to re-calibrate or reset the compass to make it work?

Mine does it too. The sensors can autocalibrate when rotated. Just like I did with my HTC Incredible, I just hold it in roughly the same orientation I'll be using it in then flip it over twice around the X axis, then rotate it sideways twice around the Y axis, then rotate around the Z axis. It usually reads accurately after doing 2 of the 3 axis but I do all 3 anyway because it takes a matter of seconds to do this.
I also have problem with compass. I tried it to calibrate, but none method works. The compass north is always heading +-45deg to screen top in landscape mode. Is there any way to reset the compass calibration (for.ex. delete some files on rooted device) or is this a HW fault? I'm on rooted stock ROM.

Count me in on compass problems. I begin to suspect that there's a hardware problem. My compass never points north, and calibrating by rotating the pad does not help. Makes geocaching rather impossible, unless you bring your own compass...
Mine seems to be mostly right using the Smart Tools one. I get a magnetic field reading of around 42.the need jumps around a bit, but not more than +/- 10 degrees.

Ditto, Smart Tools points north more or less accurately. (49 mag) It's off by 15 degrees, and it's 15 degrees off in the opposite direction on my sgs3.

Hello guys. I have a problem with my orientation sensor on my Nexus 5. I think that is a hardware issue, because it didn't resolve after reboot or clean install.
The funny part is that it works in games, but not in apps like camera (i can't use panorama or 360 mode). Also, the auto rotate doesn't work. The phone has suffered from a drop on the floor, and i think that's the root of problems .
Anyway, i guess that i should take him to service. Do you guys have any ideea of the price? The orientation sensor can be replaced or it will be the motherboard?
So, recap. The phone has suffered 2 drops. The first one had shut down the auto rotate feature, the second one has maked the sensor to work better in games. I take care of my phone, but sometimes it happens.
P. S. I checked the auto rotate option.
P. P. S. I checked this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/sensors-fix-nexus-5-t2704915
Ty for any sugestions.
I have just bought a Gear Fit 2 Pro and almost all its sensors seem to be defect!
It does not track steps and it cannot be acitvated using the gesture (raising my arm to switch on the display).
When I set it up the very first time, it seemed to work (I guess three or five times) and there were unbelievable 14 steps tracked (over the whole day, several walks included!). Now, nothing seems to work any more (no wake up by gesture, 0 steps).
Only switching off by covering the display works flawlessly - except the normal functions that do not need any sensors, of course (showing messages, vibration etc.) which work as well.
I have already reset the watch many, many times, tried different phones (S20 and S8), but nothing seems to help!
Is there a way to reset the Gear Fit 2 Pro even "deeper", to reflash it, to check the sensors' function etc.? Or maybe anything else that could help? I really don't want to put this nice looking device into the waste bin!
