[Q] Error Rooting Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (3g) - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys
I have a newly bought Galaxy Tab 2, want to root it to be able to install custom rom's/apps once they get released. But i'm having trouble with ODIN.
I followed this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056
While running ODIN i get this error:

This is without using a .pit file.

Using a pit file and re-partition enabled i get this error:

Hi,
I also have a Tab 2 10.1 (3G) and I tried to root my tab. I listened to advice from this tread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056&page=3 post. 29 and I managed to get into the CWM. But I can't install the CWM-root-gtab2.zip. I get the message "E:Can't mount /SDCard/" although the external SDCard in the device is properly recognized.
P. S. Is it normal to have two parallel CWM menu on the screen (top and bottom of the screen)?
Here's a screenshot:

You guys may be the only ones with 3G 10.1's trying this root and maybe its not compatible with 3G.
Just my 2 cents.
Pp.

Really?
Any idea how to check it out?
Thanks

At another forum, member nycbjr confirmed that this is the root for our devices. Quote: "Confirming this is for the GT-P5100 (and the 7.0 GT-P3100)"

Error on non-3g too
I've been trying to root my Galaxy tab 2 10.1 using the instructions here
Every time I get the same error from odin and the device:
From Odin:

Code:
Fail to download [elsos] [Data 2732(.0) > Part:2560(/2560)] (2KB unit)
Tegra_Nand_Write: Error to DownloadPartition_odin![err:0xffffffff]
I've made sure drivers are up to date, I've downloaded the recovery.tar.md5 several times. I've got the latest version of Keis (which connects fine).
The first time it failed I had to do a factory reset to recover; subsequent times it reboots after first going into the recovery menu.
Device is model GT-P7510, running android 3.2, kernel vesrion 2.6.36.3, build number HTJ85B.XXKL2 P7510XXKL2
Does anyone know what's going on here?

Guys, GT-P7500 and GT-P7510 are not TAB 2 models, this root does not correspond to these devices.

not sure how relevant it is but
GT-P7500 is the galaxy tab (tegra cpu)
GT-P51xx is the galaxy tab 2. (TI cpu)
i dont know if the rooting is the same or not, just seems people are having trouble with the 7500 using the galaxy 2 root kit

GT P7500 is a honeycomb based Tab, this rooting is for ics Tab 2. Tab 2 root will not work on old school original tab. Wrong forum.
Do a factory reset and and star over with proper root procedure.

My understanding was that the 7500 is the original 10.1 tab, and the 7510 is the Tab 2 device.
Looks like I was wrong!
Thanks for the help.

Thanks guys for clearing that up!
I will do as you suggested via a factory reset and start OVER!
The thing is i already tried the Galaxy Tab method and managed to ROOT it but then my CWM was not functioning it was like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2GOVqg5gMs
Anyways what is the BEST / SAFEST way to root and to install CWM on my device: GT P7500?
Thanks

Go back to"forum" and look up "Galaxy tab 10.1 development" this will be for your honeycomb based tab, there you will find all kinds of rooting for your tab. Follow directions and you should be good to go. Good luck.

Ok do you have KIES installed if not Install it (Maybe reinstall it)
Make sure KIES is closed when ODIN is opened (another thing I recommend to do is go to recovery on your phone and wipe data factory reset and wipe cache) Then try again
Hi, i just bought a new Galaxy y pro.
I'm Italian and my current fimware is XXKJ4 ...
I want update it but kies doesn't find my phone, i try to reinstall kies, with another PC but is the same...
What is the lastest or the best firmware for this phone?
Also, when i try to flash with Odin, give me a FAIL
Please, help me ! thanks
I have the answer for the problem!
Ok everybody these firmwares are no ready to use with ODIN, that's the problem. You need to convert these KIES firmware to ODIN ready to flash files with Doky73's tool --> SplitFUS2 or request him the firmware in this threat.
And please don't forget to say thanks to Doky and me

I ran into this thread and tried the same thing. After much searching, I found references to this thread and/or this tool to use. It looks like the problem with this firmware is it is all in one package, and needs to be split. See the links below:

I can confirm it works fine using Odinatrix (from the second link above. I used the firmware mentioned in this thread. (by the way, the OP didn't mention it is password protected - password is 'android'). I let Odinatrix split up the firmware - super easy to use, just follow the instructions in the second link above.
I then flashed CSC, MODEM, and PDA - nothing else. I didn't repartition - just left at auto reboot and f. reset time. Now flashed fine and is restarting.
AN ADVICE
Hello sir...maybe your tutorial will be better if you can give us some photos/ScreenShots of flashing steps...

These firmwares are not flashable with Odin (Gives you an error) search the Internet for the right packages (you should succeed I fixed a friend his Galaxy Y Pro with that)

[Q] HELP...about to toss my note out the F***ING window

I have an N8000, it came with China software 4.0.4.
I have been trying and trying and trying to flash the Nordic Rom. 4.1.2
No matter what i do, odin fails to flash
i have tried:
Clear data/cache multiple times
installed kies

odin 1.85, odin 1,87, odin 3.07
after numerous fails, i tried rooting with chainfires auto-root
auto root took just fine, so i know odin/my pc can talk to the tab

Is it a genuine Samsung Note 10.1 or a fake/ clone .

Calm down.............
1 - Are you saying it is from China or had the China 4.0.4 ROM installed?
2 - Why do you want Nordic Rom. 4.1.2 ?
3 - Can you change the language in the "Chinese software" Because there is a Chinese 4.1.2 firmware that you maybe able to install and change it to english.

I dont want the chinese rom as i have no interest in QQ, its horribly written services, or government spyware.
i am about to head back to the states and would like access to my google services(which are not installed in the chinese rom)
i buy alot of electronics over here for use at home as some things just aren't available back home(unlocked devices)
i have used this same pc to flash on my P7500, GS2, and even was able to use odin to root earlier(which i haev undone)
i killed kies and all its services
still cant flash a different countries firmware, or at least the one i have, so i am downloading a different one.
the device has been able to update via kies, register, etc
i know the usb is a direct solder to my motherboard, not a daughter board, i have tried 2 ports
its the cable that was in the box(all accessories appear to be genuine), i have also tried my P7500 cable, and my spare charging cable...nothing is working
would i have better luck with mobile odin?
any help...im measuring my departure time in hours at this point

[Q] Unbricking i9506?

Hi,
So I got the i9506 and since I've played around with my i9100 for a couple of years rooted, I decided to root my i9506 too. Before doing so, the phone installed 4.3 via OTA. I've been unrooting i9100 over and over while installing custom ROMs and so forth.
But now as I was trying to root my i9506, a problem struck. As I was flashing the Philz FW, it failed and now I'm stuck with "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.". Well that's a mighty good idea, but for some reason Kies does not recognize my phone. I googled and and some other people have this problem too and I'm yet to find a solution with Kies.
So I arrived to XDA, once again, and tried looking for a solution. Found this topic and already hoped that I was saved. But either my understanding of the whole thing isn't enough or it doesn't have the solution for me, I just couldn't get my phone fixed.
So now I'm stuck with the "Firmware encountered an issue..." screen and I don't have a way out. Could someone please help me out?
Any help is much appreciated!
PS: I'm from Finland.
I downloaded the stock roms 4.2.2 and 4.3 from sammobile and tried those as well, but no help.
Odin always fails when trying to flash something.
Tried with Odin 1.85 after multiple failed attempts with 3.09.
I always get this log, no matter what I pick as the bolded option:

Do I need a PIT file and if so, is there a certain file I need or am I supposed to use a tool like PIT Magic?
My phone still says the following so I'm not sure my warranty is voided altogether:
Product name: GT-I9506
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Official
Knox kernel lock: 0x0
Knox warranty void: 0x0
Resolved.
I was using another microUSB cable to do the job, but after changing to new white cable that came with the phone, it passed! Now all's back to way it used to be before all the trouble. Even my phone name and all are intact.

[Q] OTA 4.4.2 update failed, Samsung Experience no help, Please help me

I did the verizon pushed update to 4.4.2 today on my SCH I535 S3 which was totally stock with encryption. After the install finished "upgrading apps" it then did a re-boot and asked for my encrypt pin then showed the outline Andy. Then after a couple of vibrations it re-boot again and will continue this cycle until battery is removed. After sitting on the phone for several hours and conversing with Samsung and Verizon they pointed me to Samsung Experience in a Best Buy and if that doesn't work I have to send it to Samsung for re-flash. They said they couldn't get their software to recognize my phone. The guy there recommended using odin to download a stock rom.
I have downloaded odin 3.07 and have downloaded a 4.3 stock rom. I set up odin with auto reboot and F. reset time checked and nothing else. I select the .tar.md5 in the bootloader and here is my odin output:

Please tell me how to recover my phone. I am new to this so give me detail please.
I believe since u pushed the 4.4.2 ne1 update u need to Odin the 4.4.2 ne1 tar file, not the 4.3 file
Thanks so much! I tried the 4.4.2 tar file and... it worked. I thought that since the 4.4.2 update is what failed I'd have to go back to the 4.3 but that was clearly flawed thinking on my part. I can't believe that it worked and best of all everything is still there! I still have all my apps and data, as if nothing at all happened.
Thanks so much for your suggestion!

No I didn't get the 4.3 working. I did get the 4.4.2 working though. I am not sure how exactly you'd revert back to an older version, Sorry.

Hi,
First, I suggest you try a different Odin version to see if it helps. Also, if Kies is running at all... Odin will fail. Go to task manager and end any process with Kies involved.
Here is a return to stock guide, and you can ask for help in the thread also...
> AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II > AT&T Galaxy Note II General > Dedicated back to stock W/ files W/ Instructions
Good luck!
