My Sensation 4G TMOUS has been randomly giving me a notification in my status bar saying "Sleep mode enabled" "Networks are disables when screen is off"
I can't find any option to turn it off! When I press the notification it takes me to the "Power" settings, but there is nothing there that references sleep mode??? I also can't clear it from the status bar...
Anyone else get this?

Its so strange and annoying! I foud the only way to get rid of it it to open up settings then open task manager from the drop down quick setting and kill all processes. I hate doing that.

I have everything in that menu disabled. I've been through that menu a hundred times. Well maybe not a hundred but ya know...

I'm running stock rom, and have also recently gotten these notifications. It comes and goes a couple times a day... Strange.
I'm having this issue too. I hate it. Did you guys tried downloading something from market while having this notification via wifi?
I realized that when I get this notification I can't download something on market although I can browse without a trouble. I can only download app via mobile network when I get this notification.
I hope we can find a solution.
Same here after installing CoreDroid 2.5. Even going back to a backup I did 4 hours before first notification occurs doesn't help - notification comes 15s after boot.
So I had to restore a different rom...
Any idea ?
Update: flashing over the same rom again solved my problem.

I tried this, but not working for Pyramid3D v8.1.0 XE from CdTDroiD.
Any changes people?
It seems the European based rom have this feature in the power settings. I've been running insertcoin and RCMega Mix and am able to turn it off.
I think the setting got enabled by flashing other roms, and just stuck no matter if I went back to stock or at TMOBUS rom.

I just started experiencing this issue yesterday. I flashed a bunch of roms then came back to ARHD 3.6.2. No matter what rom or kernel i try now I still get the same message. I make sure to flash super wipe every time so I don't know why I'm still getting this message. Any one know if it actually does put the phone in sleep mode the when screen is off or is it just an error message?

Since installation of P3D 8.2.1 the issue is back, even when restoring CD2.5 which was running a few days before without this issue. SuperWipe or FullWipe and manual cleanup of SDCard didn't help too.
So where is this setting stored ??? Maybe activated by a Sense 3.5 ROM in Radio module ? Where else may this setting remain when clean system, data, cache and sdcard ?

Seems to be correct, AFAIK CoreDroid 2.5 and P3D 8.2.1 are on European base and shows this issue.
Energy Sense 3.0 based on TMOUS (pls correct me if I'm wrong) seems not to be affected by this works fine in my case.
Update: Bulletproof 1.4 doesn't have this issue too (TMOUS based too ?).

Even when You install a Sense 3.5 ROM ? Energy Sense 3.5 (my favorite) has an option for configuring exact this parameters in power menu, I think other Sense 3.5 based roms too.
Same problem here. ARHD 3.6.5.
I had this when I woke up this morning stock European ROM I did some googling and the only way I found to clear it is go to task manager and kill all tasks since doing this it hasn't returned

I think it only comes up on sense 3.0 roms cuz it doesn't have the performance extra option in the power menu. But I never had the issue it started after I switched to a sense 3.0 from a sense 3.5 rom.

My opinion too, but - cuz they had been working before - there must be a stored setting which still resists a full wipe. Where could it be ?
On the other side: BB 1.4 and Energy Sense 3.0 are not affected... What's the difference between them and the other roms (regarding this issue) ?

Not sure. In my case I used the super wipe script each time after trying a bunch of roms. I was thinking maybe I should try just wiping cache, dalvik and everything else? What method did u use for wiping before flashing. It seems it's not getting wiped and reset completely for some reason.

This could be a problem with your radio.
Have you tried flashing the latest radio? Look in the Index for the latest radio...

Flashing ROM and radios are two different things. One does not interfere with the other. So if you've flashed latest radio you shouldn't reflash ROM
Let us know some details:
1. How do you flash ROMs? Full wipe, only cache/dalvik, etc?
2. Have you checked the WiFi advanced settings to have the band set to "Auto" or "2.5 GHz"? Not al routers/APs support 5 GHz WiFi band
3. After flashing ROMs are you restoring something with Titanium? For first you shouldn't...maybe there are some incompatibilities.
Try also with this radio instead 20.48.30.0822U_3822.09.08.20 (it's the previous one not latest). For me it's working better than with the latest.
After flashing radio, remain in Recovery and from "format/wipe" menu select to format all partitions (complete wipe without sdcard), then flash the ROM. I suggest for the beginning to choose Virtuous RC1 (latest) or CM9 and see if WiFi works...you can wipe again and flash MIUI after. Do not restore anything with Titanium backup after flashing the ROM. Just boot and set your WiFi access point. Check if it connects. Alternatively download WiFi Analyzer tool from HERE (it's not latest version but if you don't have Internet access on phone you can't download from market, so it's a good thing that you can manually download the APK and put it on your sdcard). Check and see with the tool if you can gain extra info on the networks in your proximity
I have the same problem... Problem is that I cannot switch on wifi (problem is not with connecting)
Virtuous Beta9 - I can switch on wifi and connect
RC1, RC2, miui... I cannot... so strange...
(bootloader unlocked with htcdev, s-on, the same radio as ayene, wipe all...)
I cannot flash previous radio... still have the latest one. I think problem is with htcdev unlocking and s-on...

4. install wifi analyzer and turn on wifi and open the wifi analyzer. nothing happend. but if i turn off wifi and open the app it say "the app needs Wi-Fi to work. so it is different between switch on and off wifi. but no network found.
That's weird...try to take a logcat and post it here.
When going to WiFi settings and try to activate it, what does it say? Usually is something like "connecting", then "Authenticating...", then "Acquiring IP address from ...". Are any of these steps showing?
By "not work" you mean WiFi is not activated or you have it active but not connected to any network (you said that in some ROMs is activated and in some not)? How's on Virtuous? If you are in WiFi settings and wifi is not activated, what happens when you repeatedly press on/off?

my problem is, that in Virtuous B9 I can activate wifi, but in RC1, RC2 I cannot activate wifi... Button ON is greyed... nothing happened after I pressed On/OFF, cannot switch on..

And I dont install Virtuous B9 but for ex in MIUI 4 when i turn on the wifi , it says enabling and will stay on it. if I go out and come into the wifi again there is no enabling and it seem wifi is on. but when I press scan , no network will be find.

AYENE: yes, I have same problem... I cannot activate wifi in miui 4 rom (frozen "enabling"), CM9, virtuos quattro rc 1, rc 2 (inactive button)...
BUT try virtuous beta9... it is working fine... (but camera doesn`t in this release...)

I change it by fastbootcommander. I changed radio in hboot 2.00.2000. But in this hboot, no.

HI, i'm having serious problem with my sensation . i'm running an android revolution hd gingerbread, using original radio. After flashing some roms , i realized my wifi dont work anymore. Thought it was beacuse of the new rom so re flashed last rom , but my wifi still dont work. Sometimes they turn on trying to search a network but after few sec the turn off again. What shall i do?
silly question but i had the same problem with a new router and it was a mistype of the password (0-o,i-1,i-I) and so on caps can be a problem

Not a silly quest at all. I can NOT find any network , it says: unable to look for networks and then wifi turn off! this morning they finaly worked but just for few minutes then no more

I had this same problem , but it has been solved by itself. I couldnt turn on my wifi, then one day it started to work. But when I went to Slovakia ( skiing trip ) one week ago, it stopped working again. After few wipes and re-installs it shew earlier saved networks and one new which i couldnt connect to. I had a lot of ROM's and no one works. And I have some problems with camera focus too. After installing some software i cant get focus on camera.

this is usually due to the wifi module in the kernel not working as it should so my suggestion would be to flash a different kernel (bricked or faux) and it should work again

I have tried ARHD, Insert Coin, again, but it doesn't work. I can't even start MIUI, it's still showing "Sensation >> MIUI logo >> Sensation >> MIUI logo >>..."
When i'm turning on wifi on device it show's "turning on WiFi network" and nothing happens, even if its turned off, it sometimes shows "turning on WiFi network" ...
Write if u have flashed radio and it works.

God damn ! Can anybody help ? Can I get my phone back to the deflaut soft and get back everything and install new ROMs again ? I had SE C902 and if i broke sth i flashed all software again and all was working ...
By any chance have you installed an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM at ANY point on your phone?

Same thing happened to me on elegancia salvation 3.6 ....I unplugged my router for 5 minutes and BAM..WiFi

I was trying some kernels and the last one was Bricked 1.36 and ViperS 1.1.0 ROM, wifi and other things worked, but today morning i woke up and wifi says "turning on" for 1O minutes, so i restart it. Still turning on. So i reflasherd kernel. Still turning on. So i clear cache, wipe dalvik and fix perimissions. Still turning on.So i flashed whole ROM with kernel Bricked 1.4 and did full-wipe. Still turning in. So i flashed come CM ROM with their own kernel. Still turning on....After some time for try turn it on, it says something like "fault, Fail..."(i am using other language, than english)
My vacation starts just great...
I am of cource S-OFF, HBOOT 1.27, Rooted, Sensation XE.
Can someone give me some advice? i am at the end of my experiences. Thanx!!!
EDIT: wifi was not working about half a hour...but than...voila!!! It is for no reason back working the phone was just liyng on the table, than i took it and just set wifi on, "what if"... that´s really strange, but. But great! Now go back root, s-off and some awesome custom rom

I agree I would recommend flashing the full ruu to take you back to stock Rom I did the same thing to get rid of my problem and flashing the full ruu did the trick I'm now s off Revolutionary style and flash 4ext custom recovery and su file and custom Rom the correct way

Hi,
I believe THIS PATCH will restore your hboot to 1.27 and not "LOCKED"

Hi,
The other thing worth considering are the 2 gold pins inside the phone,just above the camera lens.
GENTLY lift them to make a better contact.

I am afraid, even this is not working. Pins definetly have some resistance and resting to its place. :-/ when i return from vacation, i´ll take my precious Sensation XE to a doctor, he will know perhaps.
I have this problem too. I've been using ViperS 1.1.0 for a few weeks without any wifi problem. Yesterday, the wifi was working like normal then in the evening I flashed HyperNonsense 3.3 just to try it. Didn't like it, so I restored nandroid of my ViperS, then flashed yank555's faux123 kernel v2.52. I only realised wifi is not working today morning. It just shows "Turning On", but nothing happens. Could it be kernel issue? Previously i was using yank555 v1.9 without any issue thoguh.

mine came with the initial ics ota update a very common problem i see on the net not only wifi but bluue tooth also not work
i installed the latest ota a week or so ago which cured a few bugs but still no wifi or bluetooth
so.... i did jb s offf , root etc installed CM9 this fixed the blue tooth and made the screen move reactive and smooth this is one cool ROM BUT still no wifi
any and all suggestions welcome but please consider i am a noob http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif and may need a few signposts

I honestly don´t know, i thought, wifi is (almost)only kernel related, but now i see, that it is not :/ It is almost exactly my problem, i was using ViperS and changed kernel...but it didn´t suit me, so i restored the previous one...than i woke up and wifi is gone i cant solve it for now, i don´t have any freetime at this moment for making full stock condition.
i have tested stock rom with stock kernel, with some other HBOOT but still the same.

Your wifi stops working through an official update? You should claim it! it is not your fault...for me, everything works, except thing about wifi like tethering etc., thats a serious problem, even reflasing the whole phone (rom, radio, hboot, kernel) doesn't help :/
I had Xperia Arc before Sensation XE and reflash always helps, no matter what happens.

i read that the wifi tether(hot spot)......phone company pressure:cyclops: wont work on any htc phone with ics
dont know if its true though
yes wifi problems after the official update seems quite common and from what ive read htc dont seem to want to know about it
please remember im a noob:fingers-crossed: i installed jb hboot and cm9 rom but that rom is based on 3.33 i think
ill try another rom on the weekend and see what happens

I thing, if you changed rom, kernel etc. and wifi is still not working, another rom will be no help i am afraid but take your chances! it is not working for me. I can flash any ROM, any Kernel and the result is the same...

In case anyone wants to give it a shot who is having wifi issues you can find the wpa_supplicant.conf file in /data/misc/wifi/ directory on your phone. Simply cut/rename the file and put it somewhere else. If you have wifi passwords you want to save, you can open the original file using a text editor and copy the settings over to the new file.
I believe the cause of my issue was actually Titanium Backup. Looking at the last time it backed up my wifi settings was back when I wasn't running ICS yet. Yesterday I did restore an app using it and must have accidentally restored that old backup. Their formats are different from Gingerbread to ICS apparently and it was causing errors.
i found this on another post dont know if it will help but it could be the problem with the ota update from gb to ics

hmmm thats iteresting, but if you do full-wipe and flash some rom and kernel, these files are rewriten...but because i am curious i tried it and!!! it is not working for me :-/
And how to get into this directory?Simply... download dome file manager from Play Market(i lika Total Commander), but you can use whatever you like, set in options "root function everywhere" and allow superuser. than you can go in any directory and read/write/change

I fixed it by doing a full wipe, flashed ViperS 1.2.1, reboot, use the phone for a few minutes, then flashed Yank v2.52.

No help for me still the same "turning on"
Hey guys m facing some problem from past two days
I was running revelation from last week , everything was working
and now I flashed arhd 7.3 two days ago and suddenly Bluetooth , WiFi , WiFi hotspot Stopped working
It stuck on " Turing on "forever
And after some time WiFi gives error

Most likely kernel issue. Do a backup, then full wipe except sdcard and flash a new rom (or restore a working backup)

Mate I restored stock Rom backup ( stock HTC Rom + kernel without any change )
Plus I flashed arhd 7.3 with stock kernel and Sebastianfm kernel
And arhd 6.8 with stock kernel , elegancia blitz 3.9 with stock and Sebastian kernel

Like I said, either you could try and fix your radio: See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867.
Also, get GetRIL from play store and update you ril first.
But before that, I still recomment you do a full wipe except sdcard and reflash rom (not restore). Just to get it out of the way.

I have s off sensation
No problem in flashing Roms
And few hours ago WiFi , Bluetooth , WiFi hotspot starts
I used WiFi for 10-15 min and turn it off..
And again when I try to turn on they keep turning on....

go to system->etc->wifi and delete the wpa_supplicant.conf file
but first copy it to the sdcard just in case
