WiFI - turning on and on and on... RESOLVED!!! - HTC Sensation

Hi all!
I was trying some kernels and the last one was Bricked 1.36 and ViperS 1.1.0 ROM, wifi and other things worked, but today morning i woke up and wifi says "turning on" for 1O minutes, so i restart it. Still turning on. So i reflasherd kernel. Still turning on. So i clear cache, wipe dalvik and fix perimissions. Still turning on.So i flashed whole ROM with kernel Bricked 1.4 and did full-wipe. Still turning in. So i flashed come CM ROM with their own kernel. Still turning on....After some time for try turn it on, it says something like "fault, Fail..."(i am using other language, than english)
My vacation starts just great...
I am of cource S-OFF, HBOOT 1.27, Rooted, Sensation XE.
Can someone give me some advice? i am at the end of my experiences. Thanx!!!
EDIT: wifi was not working about half a hour...but than...voila!!! It is for no reason back working the phone was just liyng on the table, than i took it and just set wifi on, "what if"... that´s really strange, but. But great! Now go back root, s-off and some awesome custom rom

Have you tried to restore the stock ROM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529941

I agree I would recommend flashing the full ruu to take you back to stock Rom I did the same thing to get rid of my problem and flashing the full ruu did the trick I'm now s off Revolutionary style and flash 4ext custom recovery and su file and custom Rom the correct way

Hi,
I believe THIS PATCH will restore your hboot to 1.27 and not "LOCKED"
Silly question, did you try rebooting your router?

EDIT: it says -Revolutinary- and HBOOT is 1.27.1100 Thanks!
router works, coz we are using several phones and notebook @home...
I am afraid the worse scenario...burned chip or motherboard.
Or maybe if i get back to S-ON, unroot and restore complete stock...?

Hi,
The other thing worth considering are the 2 gold pins inside the phone, just above the camera lens.
GENTLY lift them to make a better contact.

I am afraid, even this is not working. Pins definetly have some resistance and resting to its place. :-/ when i return from vacation, i´ll take my precious Sensation XE to a doctor, he will know perhaps.

I have this problem too. I've been using ViperS 1.1.0 for a few weeks without any wifi problem. Yesterday, the wifi was working like normal then in the evening I flashed HyperNonsense 3.3 just to try it. Didn't like it, so I restored nandroid of my ViperS, then flashed yank555's faux123 kernel v2.52. I only realised wifi is not working today morning. It just shows "Turning On", but nothing happens. Could it be kernel issue? Previously i was using yank555 v1.9 without any issue thoguh.

i also have the same problem with the wi fi turning on for 10 mins then it shows error
mine came with the initial ics ota update a very common problem i see on the net not only wifi but bluue tooth also not work
i installed the latest ota a week or so ago which cured a few bugs but still no wifi or bluetooth
so.... i did jb s offf , root etc installed CM9 this fixed the blue tooth and made the screen move reactive and smooth this is one cool ROM BUT still no wifi
any and all suggestions welcome but please consider i am a noob http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif and may need a few signposts
thanks in advance

I honestly don´t know, i thought, wifi is (almost)only kernel related, but now i see, that it is not :/ It is almost exactly my problem, i was using ViperS and changed kernel...but it didn´t suit me, so i restored the previous one...than i woke up and wifi is gone i cant solve it for now, i don´t have any freetime at this moment for making full stock condition.
i have tested stock rom with stock kernel, with some other HBOOT but still the same.

Your wifi stops working through an official update? You should claim it! it is not your fault...for me, everything works, except thing about wifi like tethering etc., thats a serious problem, even reflasing the whole phone (rom, radio, hboot, kernel) doesn't help :/
I had Xperia Arc before Sensation XE and reflash always helps, no matter what happens.

All I had to do was pull that file out from the directory and turn on wifi and *poof* it worked again. When I turned wifi on it created a new file and everything has been great so far this afternoon.
In case anyone wants to give it a shot who is having wifi issues you can find the wpa_supplicant.conf file in /data/misc/wifi/ directory on your phone. Simply cut/rename the file and put it somewhere else. If you have wifi passwords you want to save, you can open the original file using a text editor and copy the settings over to the new file.
I believe the cause of my issue was actually Titanium Backup. Looking at the last time it backed up my wifi settings was back when I wasn't running ICS yet. Yesterday I did restore an app using it and must have accidentally restored that old backup. Their formats are different from Gingerbread to ICS apparently and it was causing errors.
i found this on another post dont know if it will help but it could be the problem with the ota update from gb to ics
now the silly noob question how do you access the directory ????http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/advanced/sign.png
i got into the directory but it doesnt seem to work in another thread someone got it to work with a virtuous rom
ill try that on thr weekend
enjoy your vacation

hmmm thats iteresting, but if you do full-wipe and flash some rom and kernel, these files are rewriten...but because i am curious i tried it and!!! it is not working for me :-/
And how to get into this directory?Simply... download dome file manager from Play Market(i lika Total Commander), but you can use whatever you like, set in options "root function everywhere" and allow superuser. than you can go in any directory and read/write/change
EDIT: ou, now a see whole post, ignore my instruction i am mega-sleepy

Random reboot nomatter what i do ??

Hi sensation forum...
I am new to sensation, but not new to android or HTC, as i have 4 different phones with custom firmware on them...
But the sensation give me a lot of problems for some reason...
I have tried ARHD 5.0.2 and Insert Coin 4.0.4, i have also tried Virtuous Inquisition v1.3.0 and HyperSensation CM7.1 v1.2.
The last one is not even ICS based...
All of them give me random reboot cycles...
I have tried 3 different radios also...
Nothing have helped me so far...
I still have a lot of random reboots...
(about every 2-10 min)
When i flash the firmware i use ARHD´s super delete script, but to be shure, i also format everything from within Recovery...
What more can i do here ??
Pleace,if your phone is stable, can you tell me exactly what rom/radio/kernal/ril you use...
My phone was rock stable with factory firmware....
Hey,
When installing roms on the sensation, make sure you follow the guides in the particular thread. It is also important to match recommended radios and rils that go with the specific rom. Make sure you are S-off and cid 11111111. When you are switching roms, you should only have to run the superwipe script, it will set all the partitions for you so that you can flash the rom you choose. Also, before you install ICS, it is recommended that you superwipe BEFORE installing the actual rom to prevent unwanted isssues. Before you do anything else, give me a rundown on what you are currently running.

I have exactly this issue.
I installed ICS Revolution. I had successfully got S-OFF, Installed ClockWork Recovery (updated to latest version), permanently Rooted & obtained SuperCID. I updated radio as recommnded by mike1986 in the ICS post, and wiped the phone with Revolution Super_wipe_Sensation first.
It seemed to run fine apart from Doplhin HD which refused to run properly (so switched to Opera Mobile). However I started to get random reboots.
After a bit I thought to try Insert Coin ICS instead.
I have noticed no real difference in performance and have the identical issue with Dophin HD (back to Opera mobile again).
However I also still have the identical random rebooting issue with this ROM. What else can I do?

I did that with Revolution as well as with Insert Coin this time around. Running the latest version
I'm having the same issue. Did a text book install of AHRD. Everything went super smoothly, but getting these reboots. I have tried to swipe everything, have the latest radio and recommended fw and keep getting these crashes. Not only it's driving me nuts but it makes the phone unuseable... I can't believe we're just 2 to have these problems... Isn't there some king of log we can pull to see what's causing the crash ?
---------- Post added at 08:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:52 AM ----------
I suspect it has to do with processor speed that's been tweaked in these roms, but can't seem to find a way to tune it back to stock on the ICS rom...
sorry for the late reply, been busy with holiday stuff.. anyhow, make sure you are NOT installing any mods that are not compatible with the current ICS build. I have had no problems switching between ARHD 3.6.10 and ICS 5.0.2. As long as you have s-off and CID 1111111, you should be good to go. When I changed up from 3.6.10 to ICS 5.0.2, I turned off my phone, went into bootloader, selected the option for recovery, then flashed the superwipe script. After it finished flashing that, it rebooted back into recovery. Following that, I went to install from zip, flashed the updated RUU, cleared cache and dalvik, then flashed ICS 5.0.1 and the 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 update. Everything installed smooth from there.

That's exactly what I did. Can't find anything different between your story and what's I did, up to when I switched to Insert Coin
I also don't think it's related to CPU speed. My phone is the XE model which ran at 1.5 Ghz on stock ROM and only did about 3 random reboots in 3 months; (now it's every couple of hours).

Good luck. Hope it helps. Let us know the outcome. My nandroid backup is corrupted so will need to do full wipe of my SD card and phone I think. Then add in a stock ROM

I'm still getting the reboot on the nand backup (OrangeFR), this sucks big time. Now I'm thinking it may be due to the fw I had to install to use AHRD (PG58IMG) and the new radio. This is where I'm lost. How can I return everything to standard ? If I understand well the ROM doesn't contain those files, they are separate ?
Was thinking that my random reboots were radio or firmware related.
Strange thing is mine have stopped, and all I did was reinstall revolution ICS 5.0.1 then upgrade to 5.0.2. Didn't even wipe first. So even my apps & settings all of which I had installed & configured since I had installed Insert Coin ICS, are all still there. Haven't had a reboot since.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
I switched back to ARHD 3.6.9, did a factory reset+wipe, flashed radio 10.59 and all is fine, I'm somehow reluctant to try again...
I found a solution that worked for me... At last...
I am REALLY sorry that i didn´t answer here before, but i have been really bussy, and actually forgot all about it a few days....
NOW, i also thought that i had some CPU spped issue with the roms, becource i can actually get the same kind of reboot problems on my DHD when i run it over 1500 Mhz...
So i thought that i would lock my sensation to max 900 mhz, and then see what happens... NO change... Still random reboot... Strange...
I then installed a Android 2.3 rom, just to get my phone running again... STILL random reboots...
hmmm....
Now i was confused...
At last i tried to flash a different radio one more time...
I found a radio in some other sensation thread... Flashed it and now my phone works stable...
At least with Virtuos Inquisition 1.3.0... (Proberbly the 1.4.0 will also work, but i have not tried it yet...)
The Radio i had the problems with is the one from mike´s thread...
I actually don´t know why, as i have allways had great success with his roms and his releases on my DHD...
The Radio i use now is 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035-02_2...
But sorry, i can´t remember from what thread...
Ok, this is what i have discovered on this reboot issue...
I hope it make some sense, and that this perhaps can help other with the same problems...
Try turning your phone to recovery.Backup if you havent already....Wipe Data/Factory reset then turn the phone off....
Remove the back cover and the SDCARD.Turn the phone back on and see if it runs ok without the SDCARD, if it does reformat the sd using 4ext recovery and it will also align it.
I spoke too soon.
My phone didn't reboot for a day after I switched back to Revolution ICS 5.0.2 for about a day, then today it began doing random reboots every few minutes. I had not changed any software, just the area (which might have changed signal and frequency the cell tower uses). So I figured it was time to change firmware and radio.
I had previously (prior to installing custom ICS ROM) flashed the radio to 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 as recommended by Mike1986 in the Revolution HD ICS thread, and had HBoot 1.7.1111 on my device.
I then downloaded the firmware he posted on his thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
This has put the phone back to HBOOT 1.20.0000 and radio 11.15.3504.16_M
Now it's working well and no reboots yet.
Here's hoping.. time will tell.
No matter what radio or Rom combo I get random ass reboots
Super annoying. I did notice the battery goes from 100% to 10% during this reboot
I have calibrated battey. Wiped stats. I'm lost.
I have even tried a new battery. Wtf. Any ideas?
i cant even flash stock ruu I get a 171 error!!!!
Im gonna throw this phone at the f-ing wall in a min
if you flashed newest radio 11...x.x..., you have to have newest hboot also (1.20.. , i guess). otherwise, you will get random reboot. I had this issue before, and i just flashed order radio( i don't want to update hboot version). problem is solved

Wifi Problem, already s-off

My wifi always have worked... but suddenly one day, it would show error when I turn it on. At that time, I was running Mike's ARHD 3.5.. so I thought flashing a new ROM would fix it and flash to the new ARHD 6.5.1. However, problem still persist. My phone is already s-off & rooted.
Firmware RUU on 3.32
Kernel 3.0.16
I know there are the problem where the kernel of the new rom doesn't match the original stock kernel but if I'm s-off already, that shouldn't be a problem right?
Worst thing is that the wifi will just be either 'turning on' or 'error'.. it will not turn off, so I would assume it is eating up my battery.
Solved yet?
I have the same problem with my Sensation. It's on Revolutionary S-off. So there shouldn't be a problem. I checked the logcat and it says the driver for the wifi is not loaded. I checked the /data/system/misc/wifi folder or something like that and the wifi driver is in there so I don't know what else to do. I'm so desperate for wifi since my data runs at 3kb/s.

Install root explorer or app like that to have access to root level, den, you can find the wpa_supplicant.conf file in /data/misc/wifi/ directory on your phone. Simply cut/rename the file and put it somewhere else.
Remove it from there and move it to sdcard..
Restart de phone. Wifi should work now.

[Q] HTC Sensation wireless problem

Hi,
I am getting random reboot and than my wireless connection gives error and never getting on. So I remove the battery for few minutes and replace it back, then after I start I can use wireless connection for quite short time(like 10-15min) and it gets frozen for few seconds and then reboot again and I get the same wireless error again. I am getting this error in every Rom.
I actually got this problem after I got into ICS.
I have tried to install latest Radio, Bricked-kernel, Sebastian kernel, HTC-Dev unlock. None of them worked so I decided to write you guys.
Please give me something to fix my HTC Sensation till I am getting crazy.
Thanks in advance.
What firmware do you have?
Also, I've heard that HTC Unlock method is not as good as Revolutionary so maybe that's what causes problems?

Please give me something to fix my HTC Sensation till I am getting crazy.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am getting random reboot and than my wireless connection gives error and never getting on. So I remove the battery for few minutes and replace it back, then after I start I can use wireless connection for quite short time(like 10-15min) and it gets frozen for few seconds and then reboot again and I get the same wireless error again. I am getting this error in every Rom.

What firmware do you have?
Also, I've heard that HTC Unlock method is not as good as Revolutionary so maybe that's what causes problems?

I have the latest firmware for Sensation that is called "Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU"
Okay, so flash OTA mentioned few posts above, do superwipe and try to flash some ROMs again.
If it doesn't help maybe it's hardware related issue.
One more thing: have you tried WiFi on GB ROMs?

If OTA doesent help, than stock rom is last resort prior to declare hardware failure My opinion...

Yeah, I totally agree, but flash stock when you're 100% sure it's hardware issue.

It used to work with GB but I got this problem since I got into ICS with some radio updates and so on. It still works but no longer than 15mins and then it stop working or it reboot itself and never come back until I take out battery for a few minutes.
I will try OTA with roms that I have. do you recommend a rom that works good with OTA?
Thanks
I tried on Elegancia and ARHD both worked just fine. I think that i sent you link for RUU Prepared as PG58IMG? So in case that ota doesent help, than something is messed up with your software, flash the ruu that i send you link abd you will maintain s-off no worries
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
Any suggestions?

Wi-fi won't turn on. ViperS 3.0.2/Sensation XE

Wi-Fi won't turn on.
I have created bugreport on phone.. Not quite sure what to do right now (Where to send it, etc..) >.>
I have ViperS 3.0.2 on HTC Sensation XE. (S-ON)
When I go to settings, and tick on the Wi-Fi, phone tries to turn it on, then it just says ''Error'' after some time.
Wi-Fi worked perfectly earlier today, but maybe the update from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 caused some problems.
(I updated today, then, turned Wi-Fi off after the update. Now the Wi-fi won't turn on)
The only mod I have installed on phone is the White keyboard. And then I have done some tweaks using Venom tweaks.
It could be hardware problem too, I guess..
Any help/ideas?
I'm not sure is it smart to upload the .zip of bugreport here, since it MAY contain something personal info. (I really have NO idea, but I don't want to risk it yet)
Some of you may have noticed this in Venom thread, but I figured it might be more appropriate to post it here.
Just tell me if you need extra info about phone..
E: Apparently several people had the same problem with CM10.1.
However, they weren't very helpful.. :/
Or should I try upgrading Kernel too? (I'd rather not, so if there is easier way, that would be great)
There was some info, that this kernel should be flashed, and that would fix the wi-fi problem..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39842159&postcount=533
However, the file doesn't exist anymore.. :/
DOUBLE-EDIT: I am now going to re-flash the 3.0.1, which seems to work just fine. But I would love to use 3.0.2, so if anyone has answers, please, do help.
Sorry for wall of text.

Wifi and bluetooth not turning on

Hey guys,
My HTC One 4.4.2 Kitkat Wifi, Bluetooth and FM radio no longer work and will not turn on and stay in "turning on" mode.
I woke up one morning without any changes and my phone just could no longer use Wifi. I did a complete wipe of everything OS etc and flashed a new rom Android Revolution HD and wifi still will not turn on. I cleared the catche etc when doing this and flashed the boot.img
Since my phone is rooted it's warranty will most likely be void so fingers crossed it's something i can fix. Just seems weird how it stopped working out of the blue like this.
I have searched but most people with this problem seem to have it once flashing a new rom.

You should flash your phone back to full stock e.g. by running a RUU. Whats your HTC One model (m7/m8 free/carrier branded) ???
Thanks

Seems as there is no matching RUU. But i have found a stock rom backup. Its flashable via CWM. --> LINK
Yea
Been struggling trying to find a stock RUU also. Will that RUU work using TWRP as i thought to flash a RUU you only had to enter into fastboot mode,

Do you need the backup for twrp? I think its easiest to flash CWM and use the file from my link. I haven't found a twrp backup.

Nope, can do that without much trouble though as i have found a tutorial on how to do so.
I have cwm installed instead of twrp now. Didn't realize how easy it was to flick back and forth between the 2 lol.
