I've seen multiple versions of gapps for cm7. Either for 2.3.5 or 2.3.7, on the goo site, the latest is 8/2011, but some here go to 2012.
I'm using the new Team Nekkid 2.2 rc1 dated 5/10. I didnt see any recommended gapps on their page.

The 2012 versions of Gapps are for ICS, not GB. I think GB roms still need to use the 8/2011 Gapps.

Yea see in the Hellfire Phoenix thread, there are some listed as 1/2012. Right now im using those.
Either way I don't think it matters... gapps just gets you the google apps, which can get updated via the market anyway.
No need to flash the "latest and greatest" gapps... I'm pretty sure anyway.

I cannot share them exactly... i got them from a Paid Application called Absolute System. It's a root tool I strongly recommend this app. But anyway i can share a link with you from a flashable .zip here on XDA.

I too use that font. If you are going to use the flashable zip on a gingerbread rom you have to downgrade to cwr 2.5.1.x with amend script support.
there is a pure 2.3 gingerbread that faux put out. its not CM or anything its a base ASOP thats been built straight from google code if you want to check it out. its in the rom development area.
Yeah, was going to recommend Faux's AOSP build in the dev section. I haven't used it, but it is probably as close to pure AOSP as you are going to get and still be functional. Check it out.
Don't forget about ultimate Droid, 3.2.0 new for mytouch that has Gingerb, and idk if its vanilla but I can install the rom with 2.5.1.2 recovery, if that means anything at all lol

Yeah, it's a great ROM also, but we aren't "supposed to speak of it” even though he now credits Cyanogen in the ROM

I don't believe you need to flash GAPPS with MIUI.
That is correct, they are included in the ROM.
Can't take screenshots with the latest stable cm7.
I read it should show when you press the power button, but its not there.
any ideas?

Hey.trust me.try tdj's 7.2 rom.
I'm on the 12/30/11 build(for some reason the camera is very sharp compared to later builds/don't know why, just seems that way to me).
But flash his 7.2.you wont regret it.
Then IMO try flashing his newest cm7 kernel available from Dev host.
Then send him a fat check so he will continue to crank out goodies.
I would but I'm sending all my extra cash to Zimbabwe to my adopted son iqtumbe mfumu.
Really try his cm 7.2 kang. Its great.

If you want a more stock experience, I strongly recommend EaglesBlood ICS 4.04 AOSP, build 5.5 with 5.6 kernel. These guys also fixed the data drop problem. It's the smoothest ICS ROM I've seen. Also, it uses the Aroma Installer, and supports both the OLD and NEW baseband.. it defaults to the OLD baseband when installing, so you shouldn't have any problems.
For this sweet setup, just do the following and you should be good to go:
1.) Install Build 5.5 zip through CWM Recovery - developer.clockworkmod.com/downloads/718/3127/egb-nightly-2012-07-01-signed.zip
2.) Install latest GApps zip RIGHT after that in CWM Recovery - goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
3.) Install Kernel 5.6 zip right after that in CWM Recovery - dropbox.com/s/p8z8sdy7iwemegk/eb_p999_beta5.6.zip
4.) [Added Bonus] Install Default Browser Rotation/Flickering Fix right after THAT in CWM Recovery - charlie.d-h.st/k7J/00010/Browser-rotationfixed-tonyp.zip?key=1343730743 (by tonyp)
The above links work. Unfortunately, I can't supply the nice clickable outside links until I have more postings under my belt.
genesis is pretty awesome, too. Tons of options, aroma installer, both basebands supported, CM9 and AOKP fusion.
My advice is try them all out. Pretty much anything on here is better than stock. See what fits you and your phone the best

sorry to bother again lol, but im kinda a newbie at this, do you have a link for the kernels? and also do i install the kernel after the cm7 rom?
I personally run the cm10 nightly build 4 since it finally stable but for ICS I would suggest paranoid android ICS. If u r looking for gingerbread, might I suggest MIUI for 2.3.7, it runs smoothly with no bugs (well for me). Hope that helped

Yeah, you install the kernel after the cm7 rom. What I did was install cm7 and gapps (The Google Play store and all google apps) first and booted to make sure that everything was working. Then I turned off my phone, booted back into Clockworkmod (By holding down volume down and power button) and flashing the kernel zip.
here's the link to trinity kernel:http://goo.gl/XqDn2
And personally, I would stick to Gingerbread for the time being, ICS and CM10 are still pretty buggy. Once the official ICS comes out, we will be getting a stable CM10 build, but until then I would stick to gingergread.
Here's some info I posted in another thread:

I first used this to gain root access:http://www.unlockroot.com/index.html . It's a simple one-click process.
Then I followed this guide from step 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060715. I personally used CyanogenMod 7.2 http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/jenkins/2856/cm-7.2.0-p999.zip .
Optionally, you can also flash a kernel: Trinity ELP(http://goo.gl/XqDn2) and Faux52 LG (http://faux.androidro.ms/P999-CM-Kernel-052-sv-lg-stable.zip)seem to be the most popular... Instructions to flash the Kernel:
If one of the kernels gives you issues, try flashing the other one.
I'm pretty noobish to this as well, considering i only flashed my phone a couple days ago, but I used this procedure and it didn't give me any problems at all.

Nope, you have to install gapps seperately. It's because of google licensing issues. I'm pretty sure most ROMS are that way.

You can install a kernel whenever you want, just need to wipe cache and dalvik cache each time, you don't have to start from scratch. Good for testing issues and just for generally testing new kernels.
