just cropped the one from our CM9 DP. change desc.txt from 1280x800 to 1024x600. Also manually resized all images from 1280x800 to 1024x640(to preserve aspect ratio) Works beautifully.
place in /data/local/ with permissions rw-r--r--
and will override, anything in /system/media.
I might do a portrait version if anyones interested.
There is another CM9 boot animation thread, that has all phone and tablet sizes, however i tried 1024x600 and 600x1024 and both did not fit right.
enjoy!
This should work for any tab plus with bootanimation.zip support.
Link would help, huh? : http://db.tt/Cpo9Zgiw
We're using the 1024x600 bootimage provided by CM, see:
https://github.com/alanorth/android_device_samsung_p6200/blob/ics/BoardConfig.mk#L27
Having said that, I've always thought the CM9 boot image looked a bit "off" on our tablet. I can't put my finger on it, though. Maybe it's the aspect ratio? I'll try this boot image if I can remember to get around to it.
btw, I guess CM might make a new boot image anyways, as the boot image has the OLD Andy, and now all CM stuff should be "Cid"
edit: You're right, this one is much better. I'd encourage you to submit your modified one to Gerrit, but again I feel that we'll probably see a Cid-based bootanimation soon...
yeah, i dont know if im feeling cid.
ill let them know, sure, thanks.

cool I should look up the process to extract it from the original rom that T-mobile has before changing it
thank you for the heads up. you don't happen to have the extracted files still with you do you ?
There's tools for creating all the splashscreens in in the Core kitchen. You have to create either a 240 x 320 .bmp or a 320 x 320 .bmp image, name the 1st screen splash1.bmp and the 2nd one splash2.bmp and then run the converters for each. I haven't actually gotten around to trying this out yet, but I know the grafics for the images can't be excessive or it won't work, and if you use the 320 x 320 image size you have to shift any image to the left 60 pixels that you want to have centered. The 320 x 320 size is supposed to be for when you reboot your phone in landscape mode as if anyone does that anyway. When you reboot in portrait then using the 320 by 320 it cuts off the right 60 pixels to fit your screen. It's easier to just use 240 x 320, that way you know exactly what you're getting.
Well, i finally got it to work. thanks for the info. Main issue was splash screen 1. thanks again
I decided to go ahead and try it out for myself too. I've made a few welcomehead.96's for myself, I just never got around to designing a couple of splash screens for the first 2 splashes. I've spent the last couple of hours though working on my images that I want. Hopefully it works as easy as I think it will.
lol. yeah, i spent more time on making the rom work than the graphics to personalize.
Wow, now I can see where you would have problems with the first screen. I've been redoing it over and over trying to get it small enough to work. I'm just about ready to put just the HTC logo back on it and say forget it.
Instead of that, save the one you want as a bmp. then resave as a gif. Open it up then save as a bmp, you may lose a little quality, but the compression will get you to the size you need. then the second one can be the quality that your original was. thats what i had to do. LOL.
Thanks, I'll try that. I've already redone it 6 times and nothing else I've tried so far has worked.
That worked!! Thank you very much nottoosmart, I would have never even thought to do that. I greatly appreciate your help.

Is there a way to have this ported to the Hero? These are the best icons I have seen in Android so far (imho)
Mayb with some resizing the icons can b used in one of the roms 4 the hero
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Well afaik the icons are changed by changing the apk and resigning. I don't know how to change the icons in the apk or resign, so I don't know how to do this... if someone were to do this, they could just make it a flashable zip to change the icons on almost any ROM (with the apps)
could ask him. Konib used to dev for the Hero
It would look better and take way less time if you either asked konib to do it or asked to have his originals so you could port it. Resizing indexed .pngs from higher resolution to lower resolution makes them look like crap. (not all but a lot of them)

How can you say its not even close to being true when Im sitting here staring at a GPS icon I took from the Droid X resized it to 25x25 and there are a few pixels that are out of place? Unless I'm doing it wrong... even then its still close to being right. And how can porting a theme from a higher res theme not be time consuming?

You're right. Theres no argument about the the depreciation of images when resizing. They get compressed. Its not a matter of opinion, or conjecture, its fact. If you are able to refute this, let me know.
Well to correct everyone, resizing will remove some of the clarity of the image. Scaling the image down will preserve the clarity to do this we start with a 38x38 image create a new blank 25x25 and paste the image in, then use transform to shrink the image down. This actually scales the full image to size. That is for photoshop . Fireworks also can accomplish this very well . This is just my experience after 7 years of PhotoShop

Metamorph please I have better luck with them not messing with any of my other mods.
I did what I could for now. I will make both a flashable zip and a metamorph theme. I haven't made a metamorph theme since they changed the program, but I should have something up either tonight or in the morning. And I am putting the icons in both the HTC apps(HTC dialer, mail, messaging) as well as the AOSP apps, because I am not sure who uses what.

Hey there
Since it seems kinda hard to get your wallpaper not cropped, I made a template just for the TF (Stock Launcher)^^
The whole wallpaper has to be 2048x1504, even thought your homescreen will only show 1368x804 of the whole wallpaper...
Your wallpaper has to contain a section you will never see (top: 123px, bottom 175px)
And to on the left & right side 20px you will only see through the bounce-effect.
If the template is not enough I can write some guide for making wallpapers, too
Good luck ;D
UPDATE 27-Jun-2011:
Added new/updated templates:
Stock - 2048x1504
Stock - 1917x1408
Launcher Pro - 1700x1358
UPDATE 30-Jun-2011:
New Template for portrait mode - 2048x1504
So.. about the resolution thing... the transformer resizes the wallpapers to 1920x1408... so speaking of "sharpness" it doesnt matter if you make it 2048x1504 or 1920x1408 (template is still 1917... I mean... 3 pixels <.<)
The only thing that matters is what you want to see... if you got a bigger picture you want to see, take the higher resolution and the transformer will scale it down to 1920x1408 by itself.
Going to rewrite the guide for both resolutions tomorrow (if i have time to..)
*suggestion: maybe you can make us wallpapers, like make a wallpaper thread just for the TF.. just saying. / other than that, thanks for the template
Sent from GadgetViews.... Rockin Evo CM7 Nightlies.
the problem with making wallpapers is that I dont know what exactly you want to see on your homescreen
sure, if someone needs help I can build the wallpaper for him, its easy with wallpapers bigger than 2048x1504, but it gets kinda tricky if the wallpaper is smaller then you have to add custom borders to each site so the pic you want to see is in the center.
If you are ok with black borders around the pic, then thats no problem too, but if you dont want a black frame around the pic, it's a lot of harder to make it fit and look good
So if you can't get it done yourself, just ask If I got time to spare I'll help you out.
thanks for the template!
maybe someone should just make a wallpaper thread and we can all post ones that work nicely in it.
if no one makes one before i get around to making some wallpapers, i'll do it
2048x1504px
I was using 1920x1408 which seems to work perfect for me, I even checked if it gets resized using a 2x2px grid - strange.
greetz
I'm using Gimp for Windows, if anyone is wondering what app can be used too edit or resize a wallpaper.
GIMP FOR WINDOWS
I think this is the longest i have spent trying to apply a *^(%^(^%(^ wallpaper on anything and cant figure it out.
Using wallpaper wizardrii, isn't helping.
Holding the tablet horizontal 99% of the time, gives me short, not long enough, views of the wallpaper
I've tried the dimension up top in every way possible lol
H (2048) x W (1504)
also
W (2048) x H (2048)
I can take screen shots but im about too see if this tablet can/will be a true transformer out the window

LP plus with auto-rotate
The original Asus tree wallpaper that was ripped from a TF was 2135 x 1408 pixels. I see that your dimensions are slightly different. Are you saying that the original had less/extra information in it than was necessary, or just that 2048 x 1504 looks good enough onscreen not to need to make it precisely like the original please?

The resolution I use was mentioned in the Home Screen Thread and its working flawless. If you for example take my template and set it as your wallpaper, you will see that the crop-selection fills the whole pic. Even thought the crop-lines shown, arent the real ones you will have after the cut (Mine are the real ones.. )
the problem with 2135x1408 is that when you crop it, there is a part which is not in the crop-selection-field.. so you wont get 2135x1408, but 1917x1408 and your center screen will be about 1280x753... maybe they did it because display resolution is 1280x800.. but yeah they got 1280 with their version and we got x804 with mine maybe I should "optimize" it to x800 ;D
Ok cheers for the info.
So here is a first version of the launcherpro template
pic size is 1700x1358
homescreen is 1362x800
still trying to figure out whats the best resolution for the homescreen area...
EDIT:
see first post
sweet will try this..i am amking them @ 1920x1408
updated first post =)
if somebody still has problems just feel free to ask
So is there a special way to put these wallpapers into my Transformer (rooted) or do I just stick them in my SD?

Put them on the internal or external sd, long tap the homescreen, choose wallpapers, then gallery and search for your picture last you have to resize the crop-thing to cover the whole screen. at least thats the way for the stock launcher

Okay like that?
Thx, but definition image is blurry now
My original is 1680*1050, and you made 2048*1504 with my picture, the stretching modification render is not sharp now...
Picture resolution must be 1368x804 ? (with a little crop, to keep original ratio if necessary)
So can you make a picture with this resolution 1368x804
After resizing my picture, can you center it in your template, with black color surrounding in non-shown parts ?

I worked on this for hours. I got all the png pics right, used a gif of some flames, added the Kindle Fire boot logo, along with the "part0 and desc.txt" files. Created bootanimation.zip but no matter what I did it wouldnt show up on boot. So I was browsing around for a solution and found this tool. Worked great. I then tweaked and tweaked the size and timing trying to get it to look the best without a lot of hiccups. It does have a few delays right at the beginning but I got it the best I could. I think it came out pretty good considering Ive never created anything for android before. Im pretty much a follow tutorial only guy. But I got in the mood tonight to try to create and contribute. So anyway feel free to check it out.

Just make a copy of your original bootanimation at system/media, rename my Fire on Fire bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip then place it in same folder at system/media, reboot and enjoy (I Hope )
Looks cool, I'll try this out later.

No offense taken. Hey call me strange, but I actually like the Fires wallpapers. I love the whole OS and launcher. Ive tried other custom roms like cyanogen, but ended up going back to stock. Just bought a Xoom today for under $300. So Ill most likely be playing around with that. But I havent stopped with the Fire. I had another boot animation all done, but ended up scrapping it. Everything looked great except for the logo. It was blurry. So Ill have to work on that one some more before I post it.
I have to admit, the stock ones have a nice resolution to them. Some are really nice and then the others are just meh. I do hope you keep at it. Those are neat. I want one of a dragon coming out and setting the word "Kindle" on fire. That would win me in a second

Yay! I had an idea That would be neat. Maybe replace the fire on that dragon with the animation you already have...not sure how that works. I'll leave that up to you
The only reason Im making this thread here is because I tried 3 other JB bootanimations, and none worked, they either didnt animate or were stretched/distorted.
So I fixed these and tested them both. This is the glowing X animation. One is landscape the other portrait although the difference is trivial just colors rotated.
they are not CWM .zips, just rename to bootanimation.zip and set permission to rw-r--r-- , and put into data/local/
Enjoy.
Edit: pulled the original nexus 7 one from aniboot. Its set weird. The images were 772*484 and desc.txt was set to another strange dimension nearly double the resolution of the images. I did what I could with this one. I personally dont feel the effect they were going for with this animation. Kinda of a step down from ICS if you ask me. oh well, its only a boot animtion, very rarely see it anyways.
here is the one before the n7 OTA : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akJb-rW1sLo
cheers.

I prefer portrait.
unless you mean this X or the other one found on nexus 7. They both are really not that great. Ive seen the other one, but I'd have to see it on my device to choose.
