Well Here is my BodyGardz carbon fiber review.
I ordered from amazon as I am a member and get the prime shipping, came in second day.
Opened and packaging as usual, nice bodyguardz packaging, opened it up and all looked nice, the carbon fiber is not actually carbon fiber all it is is stamped. Well continuing on.
I cleaned the phone really good, the kit comes with an alcohol wipe and a soft lint free cloth.
I started to install the carbon fiber backing, one done I looked at it, man this is ugly. It does not fit well and does not even go with the curves of the phone. Ok i proceeded as it has some slits that go on the sides of the phone and I thought they would look good once all pieces where installed.
I installed every piece and this looks plain bad. ( will post pics, not proper shape, looks dam ugly)
Ok I went on to install the screen protector. This is a wet application, the kit comes with its own gel. Very easy to install, rubbed the back with gel, placed it on screen and guess what, it does not cover the whole screen. if you adjust it to one side you will have a nice un protected slice on the opposite. I completed the application ( yes it has the orange peel effect). I let it dry over night and then off to work. It was in my pocket all day, after work I get home pull the phone out and damn its even uglier, the edges seem to have some glue seepage and instead of white it is black with a border of pocket lint( lol). The screen the same way.
If this is what Bodyguardz skin are like do not buy. Its a great big pile of garbage. makes your phone ugly. I will be contacting them per the 30 day return policy. I lost the original sheets where everything came but still have the packaging. I ill post what happens... You have been warned do not buy this!
Ill post picks later tonight, I need to set up my camera up as my kodak will not take clear enough images...
lol gotta admit laughed a few time as I read the review.
ROFL... Sorry man.
I got the XOSkins carbon fiber back and it fits the AT&T HOX very well. The pin and camera cutouts are literally perfect.
Thanks for the honest review bro!
Damn that sucks!
Thanks for the laugh man.
I also bought this for my white HOX but now that i have a grey i decided to do it anyway. Its really not as bad as you're making it. The skin fits well on the back but the sides aren't cut very well. The screen protector is bad though lol

updated with images, on the ones with the screen one side has the screen protector aligned perfectly and on the other side you can see where it has a big gap. On the one with the skin you can see how crappy it looks, the cuts are very bad, it is a dirt and lint magnet. looks nice on the bodyguardz website image but if you plan on using the phone this is not for you.
Armorsuit full body skin zero orange peel but cuts for Pogo pins are of but who cares there's no damn Pogo dock but my hox looks great Armorsuit is the best skinomi is second. They always are on sale on Amazon

I put the carbon fiber on mine and really like the look of it...I would have liked to have gone with a color (I'm a girl...pink would have been cool)...but there are some slight alignment issues and the black of the phone showing out would have gotten on my nerves. I love the look but the phone is almost more slippery. You kind of have to get used to it. It's a shame they couldn't figure out a way to make it textured with a tiny bit of grip.
Once Seidio releases a spring clip holster for this phone I'll be very happy...the carbon fiber will protect the battery cover in my purse and of course the holster will protect the front.
Now can anyone explain why no one seems to think that lens covers are needed anymore? That's my only concern is the camera lens getting scratched. There is no protection and it's flush on the cover.
I agree. Aligning the back battery cover took some major patience. It also bums me out it doesn't protect the chrome rim around the phone because once it's dropped that's going to be the first to go.
I'll probably replace is later on once they start making slim snap cases that don't look so blah. The screen protector the case came with is super nice though. Very pleased with it.

I bought a 2 pack of the realook screen protectors on amazon and they actually come with 4 camera lens protectors. I think the entire pack was like $10. Screen protectors are pretty nice too...best I've seen on the market as of right now.

These have to be the cheapest skins I've seen. Only pay shipping. $2.85 to Connecticut for me. I actually ordered 2 for $4.85
Haven't heard anything about their quality before, but if they are at least as good as other discount skins like BestSkinsEver, then I will be happy.
Zagg and the other more expensive skins are a complete rip off. So far this is also the first FULL cover skin I have seen for the G2.
I'll post pics and a review after I get them in a few days.
*UPDATE*
StealthGuards are not great. No where near "full protection" like Zagg or BSE. Didn't even finish installing because they aren't going to do what I want.
I'm actually using the T-mobile snap on gel skin (smells like ass when new, but fits great) and T-mobile anti-smear screen protectors (best I have used, amazingly). Got both cheap cause wifey's an employee.
Also, The snap on BodyGlove case T-mobile sells is twice as much as the gel one I have, and the fit sucks. It actually keeps the keyboard from opening all the way, making it wiggle forward and back.

I would not recommend these. Got 5 for my nexus and they all sucked. Main thing was the screen protector it looked horrible
Don't waste the shipping cost there horrible. Very poor quality there definitely not cut to fit. You will literally not even use it but just toss it.
still waiting for Bestskinever. its literally the same as the invisible shield though it doesn't come with a spray bottle, squeegee and fancy packaging. and it cost about 1.3 that of invisible shield.
Orderd one.. lets see how they hold up..
Normally buy ZAGG's but their quality has been horrible lately
Hope these are a little better than the cheapo ones on eBay..

On my HD2 it looks great. Installation is the make or break for these. They are like the Zagg ones in feel and quality. i ordered 4 @ $8.85 Basically $2.85 shipping on the 1st one $2.00 for each additional one.
I'm always weary of anything that I have to adhere to my phone.
I wouldnt get them, i mean if they are handing them out for free something is wrong with them... i usually get zagg invisible shield

There is nothing wrong with them. My HD2 full body was free, just pay shipping. They do promos all the time on new/popular devices. if you pick a kindle or a laptop or gaming device, they are priced. they do it to get their name out there. these have less texture on the film than zagg does. its smoother in my opinion.
Just got this Stealth Guard In
Hey guys,
I just got this for my G2 and I would have to say that it doesn't protect as much as the BSE or ZAGG skins. IT seems as though their plotter that makes the 2d cuts to fit a 3d object isnt really equipped to do any type of compound curvature. I installed it because well, it's better than nothing until BSE has one.
Installation: Installing this skin is super easy because it doesn't cover any corners or edges.
Coverage: On the front, it covers the whole screen including the black edge and capacitive keys and the plastic area below the track pad.
On the back, it the aluminum batter plate, the flat surfaces of the soft plastic and the spaces above and below the volume key and micro-usb port.
It does not protect ANY corners!
So, if you plan on getting this case, be aware that it will protect your phone from normal scratches involved with placing your phone on its front or back but will not protect the edges sides and corners.
On the front, can I use it as just a screen protector? I want a screen protector, not sure about the full body coverage. I dunno, I just ordered it, guess I'll see how I like it when I receive it. I mean, it was only $2.85 or so, so if I do not like it, it's a non-issue to pitch it and go buy a ZAGG or the T-Mo branded screen protector.
But the main thing I am interested in is screen protection
I had one of these on my nexus and it sucked ass. Also got one for my friends vibrant. Def not worth it. Ill get a zagg for my phone. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Received mine today and installed it. Easy install and looks good. screen protector fits perfect. Only thing is edges are not protected due to the roundness, also the metal around the screen is exposed because of the roundness also I assume.
I got mine in the mail today. I had a really hard time with it. I got it on the battery protector okay, but it doesn't quite fit. One side is too long. It may shrink after drying.
It's wet application and I just could not bring myself to wet down my G2. You also have to squeegee the water out from under the cover once it is installed. I imagined drops of soapy water dropping down into the speaker grill while doing this. I attempted to put the back piece on. It is shaped like a "C" and goes around the battery cover and has a cut out for the camera. I tried and tried and just could not get it to fit right.
I think I will go to T-Mobile tomorrow and just get a screen protector, unless I can find someone to professionally install a full cover. So right now just the battery cover has the Stealth Guard on it. I'm okay with this for now.
I don't usually have trouble with these things, but this is my first wet install. I put a full decal set on my Cliq with no problems at all.... Dry install. It was from skinit.com and I really like it. I included some pictures of my Cliq because I really like the skin and I want to show it off So hopefully they get some in for the G2.

I did say it was easy, but this was my 4th wet install. For example near the speaker i pushed the water away from it. Also before i start to squeegee the water i lay a cloth over the area before i squeegee to absorb excess water. My 1st install was on my G1 which i ordered a stealth guard for as well, the current invisible shield on it is looking beat up.
Don't get the T-Mobile screen protector, its one of those anti smear ones. When its on the screen it makes it lookf pixelated a little and in my eyes, down plays our G2 screen resolution a lot. I would try a clear one from amazon, cheap, easy to install and clear to see through.

Actually I picked one up today and I really like it. I see what you are saying about the pixilation though. But the feel of this thing is excellent! Very smooth under the finger. I was also able to put it on without a single bubble or dust speck underneath. I had one like this for my Cliq and if I remember right the pixilation mostly went away after it was broken in.
I saw a Zagg shields kiosk in my mall when I went to get the screen protector. They were busy so I didn't get any pricing. Maybe after this one wears out I'll go get one professionally installed.

Agreed, I actually like the t-mobile screen protector better than any others I have used. I don't notice any pixelation at all. covers the whole screen perfectly. Seems durable. And it's SO nice not to be constantly wiping smudge marks away like I had to with other protectors.
I'll add this update at the beginning too: but StealthGuards are not great. No where near "full protection" like Zagg or BSE. I'm actually using the T-mobile snap on gel skin (smells like ass when new, but fits great) and T-mobile anti-smear screen protectors. Got both cheap cause wifey's an employee.
I want to get a gel cover from T-Mobile but I have leather case that it wouldn't fit into any more. Tried out some other ones in the store but they were also too small.

Maybe if you measure the G2 with the cover you like, you could find a leather case that fits but was intended for another phone.

Just purchased a skinomi front and back protector, just wanted to share my experience. First off, the quality of the skins are great quality, much like the overpriced Invisishield by Zagg for iphones, ipads, and select android cellulars. I purchased the light wood themed skin, it looks and feels great, but that's all that stands out. The fit of the actual skins is not very fluid or snug, with the exception of the front screen protector, the side and rear skins do not enable for a flush appearance. From a distance it looks great mind you, but for those of us that expect some decent fitment from a 35 dollar sticker, it may annoy. Application of the skin was easy with the provided solution and bubble eliminating card, but overall i would have to say 3.5 out 5.
I attached some pics, if you would like to see in detail.
Thanks for reading.
I think it looks good, I actually just received one of these but the carbon fiber themed one. I think they look awesome.
Can't wait to receive my tablet, so i can apply it.

You will find a couple of threads in the Gtab Accesories section that reflect pretty much the same sentiment.
I have the dark wood one and when I got it several months ago, I expected better quality based on the pictures in their listing on Amazon.
I complained to Skinomi about the lack of coverage on the sides and they sent me a complete replacement set of skins.
Will probably give the extra set to my son, who just got deployed to Afghanistan. I wonder if the tube packaging will survive the trip over there.
Yeah, I purchased the black carbon fiber. The backing is actually near perfect, but the sides were a little short from a complete wrap. It is actually visible in some of the pictures on their site though that the sides run a little short. WIth the black carbon fiber though, you pretty much luck out. Since the parts that show are black, those couple spots where you couldn't connect pieces only show if you're looking for them.
Overall though, I've been extremely happy with the skin and protector. Ordered one for my dad as well.
I've had this installed for a few months now, I ordered it when there was only a clear skin available though. The front and back are still perfect, but the sides were peeling in a couple places. But I'm kind of rough on my tablet, was traveling for a couple months, and I have a case with keyboard that has clips rubbing it.
Overall after a few rough months its still doing its job, and the keyboard in my case doesn't do anything to the front screen protector. Something I was worried about at first.

I completely agree. I also got the black carbon fiber skin and love it. It makes the tablet look better and adds texture to it so that it's easier to hold on to. I was a little upset when the side pieces didn't quite fit right, but then I tried stretching the pieces slightly to see if I could get them to fit better and it worked perfectly. Just pull the pieces that are a little too short while you're applying them and they should match up just about perfectly. It may take a couple of tries to get it right, but this is fine since the pieces don't seem to lose any adhesiveness even after being applied and removed many times.
Another thing to note is that their customer service is awesome. The screen protector that originally came with my skin had a few dings and bumps on it that wouldn't go away after I applied it, so I called customer service and they sent me a new one immediately (I called on Friday and received it on Monday). All I had to do was send them some pictures of the defects and they were happy to replace it. Needless to say, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I get compliments every time someone sees it for the first time, especially with the Vortex Galaxy live wallpaper and the HC interface on the display.
I am usually asked "what the hell is that?" and I grin and tell them "the most hackable tablet available."
+1 for Skinomi
I have the black carbon fiber. I only applied the back skin and screen protector. I like the look and feel of the carbon skin. I immediately noticed that the screen was less a fingerprint magnet and easier to clean. I would recommend sanding the plastic application card a little just to make sure you don't get a ton of tiny scratches that you hope fade away and use plenty spray.

I too ordered the Carbon Fiber skin kit. I've had 3 smart phones that i installed a clear protector and all has bubbled on me. With the skinomi kit, it came with that spray which made the big difference for me. I did not have bubbles on this 10" screen compared to bubbles i use to get on my 4" smartphones.
As far as the Case Protector, it was also very easy to install but it takes patience and watching the video helps. I too found the sides to be short, so i contact Skinomi and complaint. They sent me the whole kit again just for my issue. Great Customer service. I found the sides short again, but thanks for the posts before me I stretched it out and it did not rip. I got a free kit out of it!
Got the carbon fiber and the scrreen protector.
They are nice.
Only trouble I had was the 4 holes on the backing were not 100% lined up but just took an exacto and made small cut.
Other than that great, watch youtube video on application to get an idea what to do
I just visited my local ghost armor kiosk and had them wrap my phone. I got the matte finish on this puppy. Say hello to the perfect fit, and goodbye to those darn glossy/slippery edges.
Now I'm not constantly whipping the back of my phone every half hour check it out below! $40 later:

Sweet! you said a kiosk, I suppose inside a mall right? Are they held on with adhesive? $?
Go to ghost-armor.com and click on locations. Put in your zip code and it'll pull up the closest ones to you.
This wrap cost me 40$, but they have carbon fiber wraps and such that cost 45$. It includes the screen. The dude told me that if i just wanted to do the back without the screen its only $20.
And its held on with adhesive. They use a special box to put it on. Its really cool. If you get it done, definitely watch them!

I might have this done on mine this weekend. They have one at a local mall about 15 miles from me. Not sure if I want the matte or glossy. One thing I do hate is finger prints. But I also do not like the way matte makes the screen very very dull.
wow I didn't even know they had these. I am planning on getting the white skyrocket so I didn't want a case because I wanted to show off the white phone this will be perfect. there is one in a mall that's like 20 minutes away awesome info!
looks very cool! How is the screen protector portion? Is it crystal clear and feals like glass? I hate the Zagg protectors because they ruin the feel of a touch screen. Vikuti and Steinheil are great, but a ***** to put on right. (For me at least...)

Ghost armor doesn't do matte screens only crystal clear.
The front protector itself is polyurethane like Zagg, however it is much thinner and way more natural. You need a microscope to see the orange peel. It fits better than the zagg best buy gave me too. Much more precise.

For some reason I prefer the ZAGG. Looks to me like the image is clearer.
I think zagg quality depends on the phone. The zagg on my iPhone 4 was good but on the skyrocket it looked horrendous. The ghost armor protector is the way to go IMO

Went and got the carbon fiber back set and clear front for $43.. pretty happy with it. Much easier to hold on to now with the carbon fiber back, definitely the best part of it. I may or may not keep the front cover, since the gorrilla glass really doesnt need a cover. But I'd recommend the carbon fiber back to everyone with a skyrocket.

Had the carbon fiber on my iPhone 4 for a year, but I honestly think the normal ghost armor is better for grip than the carbon fiber. I personally got the Matte installed yesterday and like the looks and the grip to it. Compared to zagg, the orange peel look is much less noticeable, huge fan of the Ghost Armor.

I do however recommend the screen stay on though, for I did exactly what you are thinking of. Took it off because GG doesn't need it. Boy was I wrong. Put it in my glove box full of junk while getting pulled over, took the phone out and had a lovely slash down the middle. Gorilla glass my ass.

Just had my daughters Samsung Epic 4G wrapped in it as well. Worth every penny. Had the carbon fiber on the iPhone and the SGSII, but got the matte finish on the SR and I like it better than the carbon fiber finish and yes the screen protector is a must.

My whole phone took the guy about 15 minutes. He was juggling like 3 phones at once though. The kid worked pretty quick, especially compared to all the other lazy NJ kids in retail.
How easy is it to put on, without screwing anything up, if there isn't a location near me and I have to apply it myself? I'm in Houston and the closest location is is Austin or Dallas. I also have little to no personal experience putting these things on phones, but I've seen some installation videos for similar products and it doesn't seem too difficult.
So, I've had my N4 since the beginning of December and since then I've gone back and forth between the two skins. I've been using the XtremeGuard skin for about a month now. Before that I was using the Skinomi full body protector, even the sides. Both were wet applications, but the Skinomi came with its own spray bottle and applicator tools. The XtremeGuard came came in an envelope and instructions only: Basically, put drop of dishwashing soap in a small bowl of water, then dunk the skin and apply on the phone. The end result was a great fit, but.... the skin ended up being too sticky for my own taste. The price was unbelievable cheap. I just couldn't get away from the stickyness and of course the extreme orange-peel effect. But, I had already purchased a second set as a "backup" just in case I needed a set. Like I said, it was very cheap, like almost $9, shipped.
Now, the Skinomi was much more pricier, but I'm sure it was worth it. Like I said, a spray bottle, squeege, and large black felt wipe with the Skinomi logo. The front and back application was a breeze, like most front and back screen protector applications. The little trick to get the skin to stay down over the edges, or curved corners for that matter is the same: to get the curved sides and corners to stick down you have to wait a few minutes for the skin that is going to touch the screen/phone to dry up a bit. It needs to become sticky in order to stay down. I wait another minute or two and keep trying to keep the edges down. Eventually the skin stays down on the curved edges. For the front skin, I lined up the top perfectly, and the bottom is a little over 1 mm from completely covering the front. The back is even a better fit, less than 1 mm missing from all four edges. Really great coverage. Now the sides, eh, it's a ***** to get the curved corners. The pieces are long to apply and keep slipping. Eventually I got the corners to stay down, but over time from using the phone the corners would start to come up and then collect lint. I think I've given up on protecting the sides and corners that I just ordered the stock bumper and will use that to protect the edges before they get more dinged. Now that it's been 24 hours, WOW! I am very impressed. I can barely feel that there is a skin on top. Yes, it feels a little stick, but I have to put emphasis on "little". It's nowhere near sticky as the Xtreme. And the finish! WOW! The only problem is my oily fingers. I guess that's what the skinomi wipe is for?
That just my 2 cents. oh, btw, the Skinomi was very very little orange-peel look, and it's almost like a mirror. The best skin I've ever used so far (Xtreme, Skinomi, and Zagg).
Had an extreme guard on my s3, didn't like it just like you mentioned, it felt "sticky".... But it is very durable. Also don't like the wet application.

I personally thought xtreme guard was garbage. There's a night and day quality difference between skinomi and xtreme guard. You really do get what you pay for here. You can even see it in the packaging.

I didn't know. Please forgive me. I didn't know. I was lured in by the cheap price, but I've seen the light!
Just ordered the skinomi one.. I also debated to order XtremeGuard but saw the reviews weren't so good.
I'm going to try and take a different approach and try to let the sides heal and for all the bubbling and haze to subside, then I will put my bumper on, hopefully that should eliminate the issue of the edges raising up?
I bought a Skintomi way back for my Galaxy Nexus just randomly because I was having so much trouble sorting out which brand was worth anything from all the conflicting reviews, and boy am I glad I did. It is still awesome. I liked it so much I ordered the full body model for my Nexus 4. I got a great deal from a guy on ebay, I think the front cover model was like 8 bucks and the full body Nexus 4 model was less than 17.
I have to agree with the stickiness of wet applied screen protectors.
I've only used xtremeguard for for my N4 cuz I didn't really see a need to buy another/ different screen protector afterwards, so can't say anything about the others. For the first couple of days after application (like a week or so), it was almost impossible to push your thumb across the screen (dragging thumb across the screen fared a little better). After a while however it became significantly easier to use the touchscreen because the oil on my finger started to make the screen more slippery, but no where near the slipperiness of a dry install. I can easily swipe on the default keyboard but it could be better.
Right now I'm contemplating whether to spray some dust repellent on the screen protector; playing air hockey on the kitchen table is a breeze after spraying some.
Just my $0.02
N4 skinomi are hit and miss. The sides do not stick very well and lift up easy. The solutions tends to leave large bubble markings between the screen and the skin. After a month, the skin has lots of scar indentations, like worms or ants traveling in sand leaving trails. Much like those you create when pressing down too hard when applying the skin with the squeegee. Any cover or case that touches the top will lift push or cause the skin to bubble.
I've use skinomi on several devices, first one that's not "good". Same results on 3 replacements. Gonna try another brand.
I've used xtremeguard on other devices and they've worked well too. Loved it on my s3 . After some cure time it's not as sticky as when applied. But black specs in envelope and lately the material of the skin has changed. So it's quality has been randomly lacking.

Anti static spray? Wonder how that will affect the touch screen.
Do people really care this much about screen protector brands? I bought one generic one from eBay and it does all I want it to: keep my screen clean.

No, brand should not matter, but quality does. There is a list of personal requirements that I have and Skinomi (so far) meets those requirements, whereas others do not. That's not to say a cheaper cost product is better or as good. I have yet to try Zagg for my N4, but I have used the Zagg HD in the past. I want to try out BSE see how well that works.

Yeah of course we do. Different brands make a huge difference. Spend the 8 bucks on a Skintomi from ebay and try it for a few weeks and you'll see what we mean.
I ordered some skins from xtreme guard, the lower prices got me too, shipping to canada was around $3 which is awesome . Still waiting to get them so I have no reviews yet. Used BSE before, I think they are great, but getting so expensive. now buying for a 3rd phone (waiting for 2nd rma).
