[Q] How do you delete the locked att APN? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I am trying to delete the locked At&t APN. I have rooted phone. I have installed APN backup and restore into the system directory and it will not delete the locked APN. Does anyone know a way to get rid of that APN? I am using ST and MMS nor Navigation will work until I get rid of locked At&t APN. HELP!

try adding the new one or ones then try to delete? Other than that...sorry,sol.
sent from my HTC One X Rooted locked bootloader

There is an option apn backup and restore to delete all apns. I do that and it delets the ones I made but not the locked att apn. ?? Thanks for your reply. Anyone else?

Having the same issue - did you find a fix?

Its locked, you aren't supposed to be able to delete it.
You don't need to delete it. Just make a new APN with the Straight Talk settings, and change the selected APN to the "new" one you made. The locked APN will still be there, just not selected or active. Which should work fine.

I would like to delete it because I have been made aware that it is keeping me from being able to send/recieve mms. I can not test the theory without getting rid of it. Any idea how? Thanks.

It's probably not - I can send/receive MMS with StraightTalk just fine.
One thing I *did* discover is that for some apps to work properly, you need to remove the Proxy settings in your StraightTalk APN.

So you have a att one x and you can send mms ? You are using straight talk apn with no proxy settings ?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

Correct, I have an AT&T One X on Straight Talk with MMS and Data working just fine. Some apps reported 'no data connection' when I had the proxy settings, so I deleted the proxy settings from the APN settings and now everything works perfectly.

So you have the straight talk apn setting minus the mms proxy ? What Rom are you on ?

That's what I figured. If the AT&T is not selected and "grayed out" it shouldn't have any effect on data or MMS. But of course I had no way of testing that notion, since I'm on AT&T.

That file doesn't exist on my UK vesion One X. Is it elsewhere? (I guess I'll search)
Considered using APN backup and restore which can do this I'm told if you convert the app to system app with titanium. But that's donate version only so I'm after a free method first and foremost.
I need it as I'm going to be testing some new APNs and therefore want to ensure my handset is configured as the final launch ones will be (i.e. without the additional inactive APNs).
Cheers

I use Straight Talk as well and Apn Backup Restore works fine for me. You have to copy the apnbackuprestore.apk from your sd card and paste it to system/app. Then install the app and do not open it yet. Then go to Titanium and convert it to system app. Then go back into apnbackupandrestore and restore apns. Delete the proxy information under the Proxy tab only and then make sure you have it set to MMS protocol WAP 2.0 so you can get and send mms. This is an update of how this got fixed. The att apn did not have to be deleted.

go to //cust/cunfig/ and copy apns.xml to your computer and edit that with (notepad++ recommended) and remove all line related to your service provider and save the file then copy back file to your phone ...
now go to apn settings in phone settings and click "reset to default" and it should delete all apns
NOW ... you can create an APN with your desired settings

Help: AT&T HTC ONE X on straight talk, how to update to 4.0.4

Hello everyone, I looked everywhere and cannot find the solution.
I've gotten data, mms, and voice to work on my at&t version of the htc one x, however, I cannot figure out how to get it to update to 4.0.4.
Since its a OTA update, does that mean i need to be on the AT&T network in order to receive the update? if so, f it im rooting my phone.
Thanks in advance guys.
I'm on Straight Talk. I updated it over wifi. You can also download it from the HTC site.
BUT now I'm crying because I can't root it now.

People say that updated as helped battery life. Rooting is worth it but at the moment there isn't a rom out there as good as stock sense for the HOX. That my opinion of course.

I didn't really use it much before I updated it. Had it a few hours before I updated it. I can get through a day of casual use without it dying. It doesn't use much battery at idle.
I like having root capabilities for TitaniumBackup, avast!, and just messing around with stuff. (e.g. deleting that stupid sound effect when booting.)
IMO While it's in 1.85 or lower: root it, then unlock the bootloader using that hex edit, then install TWRP and the rooted 2.20. Or trade me phones.

That would be my opinion as well. Or instead of stock rooted 2.20, one of the several custom ROMs which are already on later versions than AT&T's OTA.
I can say for a fact that KingCobra includes the Straight Talk APN.

Rooting and custom Rom will solve any battery issues. I can get 40 hours light use and 26 hours heavy use on a single charge using king cobra Rom. And its better than stock sense imo

Use the APN that Straight Talk gives you. I use them but I do not set the proxy on APN. The proxy has issues, but it's needed for MMS. The proxy works fine on MMS.
GO TO: Settings --> Mobile network --> Access Point Names --> Menu --> New APN --> enter the following settings --> then enable the new APN you made.
name: Straight talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: <not set>
port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80

I'm on Straight Talk, rooted on 1.85, then unlocked the bootloader. Then I was prompted to update to 4.04. My plan was to have some time to put on a JB rom from that scott guy, but I accidentally hit upload when the prompt came up. So I lost root. To answer your question, I have not noticed a difference in the battery life. It's still very good. W/ my usage I easily get 14-18 hours on one charge. I am however SUUUPER glad to get rid of that annoying menu bar on legacy apps. I have it configured so that tapping brings up the menu and long-holding is app swapping. Feels A LOT better to me.
However, here is my question. I'm not a pro "rooter", I'm can follow tutorials and instructions to unlock bootloaders and root devices. So being that I am unlocked but not rooted, can I still flash a different rom? If so who can point me in the direction of instructions as to how to do so. Thanks!:good:
Unlock with the token you got before. Install recovery. Flash rom of choice. Just remember that now you will have to flash kernel separate in fastboot.

[Q] Can't connect to Verizon after flash

I helped a friend of mine root and flash his Galaxy S3 yesterday.. He ended up not liking the ROM we flashed onto the phone because MMS was not working on it. It was the Team Venom ROM I believe.. Then we tried flashing another ROM today (Illusion 1.1.1) and it messed up his service completely. The phone wouldn't connect to Verizon's network at all (it wouldn't send/receive text messages or phone calls) so we tried going back to Team Venom because we know it worked.. Now no matter what ROM we attempt to flash, it just either says, "Searching for service..." or "Hands free setup failed, retrying."
We attempted going through some steps we found in a post here on XDA about changing CDMA mode to RUIM, but there is no option for RUIM mode in his network settings.
I have at&t and have no idea how Verizon's network works or how to fix it, so some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
It should have an option for sim in CDMA subscription type. Also go to phone status is his imei there?

what "same thing" and have you done the following:
check your phone status in system
system >about phone >phone status
if your imei is correct (a bunch of long numbers) then do following:
if you can boot up and just can't connect, go into system:
system settings >more >mobile networks >CDMA Subscription >select RUIM/SIM
this should fix your non-connect problems. IF YOU have done all this, and it still doesn't work, starting hitting google to find a solution that works, as this has been the main culprit.

So here is where i am at now..
Have flashed Slim Bean, and various radios, I had the factory firmware on there for a while, it up and running, I have and IMEI number, my sim card it being picked up as it says rogers, but it says "no service".. it's weird because in the APN settings, it gets the settings from the network, they are there (rogers LTE) so it must be connecting somehow right ?
I have tried searching for available networks, nothing comes up, it's like my attennas are off or broken.
Is there any way to force my phone to see if has any antenna working or something ?
Thanks guys for the help, your the best, but I might need a new phone.

[Q] Galaxy s3 apn verizon

I just walked into an Att store. I set my verizon galaxy s3 to gsm mode and put the att sim card in my phone. I chose manually the att network. My verizon phone worked calling out and in and sending and receiving text messages but I could not change the apn to att. Is there an app or a way to open the apn settings on the sch I535 with an app or manually?
You have to root it, then install APN manager pro and titanium backup pro. Change APN manager pro to system app in titanium backup. Then you can change the APN. Also, freeze setup wizard in titanium backup to remove the non Verizon sim message.

Thanks for all the replys and help. I did 2 things downloaded an app that was supposed to send apn settings to my phone when an att or tmobile sim card was installed, the app did not work. But, after I put in the sim card and went to the apn menu as mentioned in an earlier response I could set up the new apn settings for either att or t-mobile. So my Verizon Galaxy s 3 not only works on Verizon as a CDMA phone but also as a GSM Phone, too with data.
