I have a rogers sim card, and I cannot connect to any of them. I've had rogers swap out the cards, re initialize the account, etc.
I put in a BELL card, and presto chango it works instantly...
But I put in the rogers, that works on a sony xperia X1... and the phone (galaxy infuse4g) can't handle it... just can't find networks for sh...
Help please, Work phone... need it up and running asap

That would make sense, except i've put it in, and now it's empty... Dunno how, I want a complete factory reset, as it won't take with this new sim card in the way... might have to call rogers and switch back to the previous replacemennt... fffff....
What are the default apn's that are reliable for rogers? So I can have em ready to manually enter them for the 10th time... no joke..

I think the apn settings are in the infuse super everything thread. Check the android development stickies. For some reason when I try to look at that thread xda force closes.
And did you try going back to stock to see if the sim card would work?

After you entered APN, did you hit menu select save and then reboot?

I have tried going to stock, just literally... trying apok variant now, nice install features. But anyhoo, testing literal now... Will look for those apn's and re enter...oi

Also did you lose your imei when you went to JB?
other than apn maybe not working for rogers, jb does a big conversion of the file system and occasionally phones lose the imei or baseband in th process. check them in settings>about phone. if they are null or corrupt you may need to flash a modem or restore the /efs partition. check the paranoid or cm10 q/a threads for details.

What is a fool proof method, I can boot to cwm, I have tried flashing modems. But how could I restore the efs? And from what? As i'm unsure how to do this, I am new to repair... I would really appreciate walkthroughs, etc. even hold my hand...?

it gets backed up during the install. (also the original is still intact it's just not mountable) look in the sdcard and see if there is a folder called backup with a subfolder efs. if so move the contents of /sdcard/backup/efs into /efs
if the backup itself is corrupt you can flash to stock with the pit file and repartition in odin or heimdall. i think there is a full rogers dump on here but you can use an att dump, only thing is you will lose the rogers boot screen forever if you use an att dump, unless someone finds the rogers param.lfs or makes a custom one. then flash a cwm kernel on it and make your own backup, i'd explain that but i forgot the block device and mount point for that. but i think qkster has a package for that so no worries, it should be in the cm10 thread. then upgrade to ics and then jellybean again. (ics first for cwm 6 untill a gb samsung kernel is developed with cwm 6.0, or the mtd conversion might not work) if you're lucky the efs restore will work this time, if not you will have to restore from your backup or the default backup.
if i would give better detail but i'm not exactly sure of it all right now because im already on cm10 so i can't see the orriginal rfs /efs folder and i'm not sure how qksters scripts save the /efs. but if you struggle with it pm me and ill give you my gmail/google talk and help work through it.
You could backup with infuse toolkit which makes a file you use in Odin to restore. There is a link to toolkit in cm10 op. This thread tells how to restore that file.

I've also installed es file explorer, which has a remote ftp feature. So i'm going to be trying to access that. (Root enabled, browse everything). Hoping I can access it effectively also...

So, after multitude of re bricking... yes... heimdall, odin, rom manager, etc... going through red, green, blue, rainbow, and off blue cwm's, etc... I'm finally on dark knight 4.0.4, with a functional miui... It's alive, it works, now installing mass apps, oc'd, and awesome... Test calls function clean, bt is perfect (for phone purposes).
And top it off, celebrating with dean martin... and league of legends shortly.. and a keith's beer.

I would post this on the rom dev thread but i only have 6 posts, anyway, just flashed this rom (wiped system, data, cache first) and on first boot welcome screen i get about 2 seconds where i have full 4G data and cell service. After that 2 seconds i get nothing, no data, no service. I checked my IMEI, phone number, etc. and it says 0/unknown. Is there a fix for this or am i doing something wrong? Thanks :good:

Once you get back up and running do this, you should never lose your imei again.
Open Terminal Shell on you phone and type:
su (hit enter and grant it SuperUser rights)
Then type:
reboot nvbackup
ok i was previously running aokp build 4 and i backed up before i tried codename. i just restored and my imei is still missing, any ideas?
i was going to back it up on the aokp rom because i thought it would be there
If you're referring to a nandroid backup done thru CWM then that doesn't backup your IMEI. epagib linked you to the wrong thread. Try this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442 and once you have restored your IMEI do what I posted above about the terminal emulator.

yup worked like a charm, now to try codename android again
ugh, scratch that. i went to a touchwiz rom to repair my imei and it worked but made it all 9's (i used the tool on the repair imei thread). i did the nvbackup command, that went through and then i reinstalled codename. no service again so i did nvrestore. i got stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy S III" splash screen. figured it was a bug in the rom so i tried cm10. same problem, restored using nvrestore again im currently staring at the splash screen, frozen. i just want this nightmare to end lol, can some give some insight on this problem? thanks.

just reread the thread and i didnt get my imei off the back of my phone, i typed in 9's like the video. retrying it the right way now
ok at this point i want to tear my hair out. i restored my correct imei and i have 4g and about 3 bars. i can surf the web fine but when i go to make a call or text i cant, keep in mind this is all cellular, no wifi. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.

Back up anything you want on internal storage and dial *2767*3855# on stock. It will wipe your phone, but it can fix network issues sometimes. Worth a try.
Good into settings/device info/system status, and try to list what is there, or take a screen shot + post it (I'd cross out your phone # if it's visible in the screen shot)

IMEI is safe to post?
More the network stuff at the top. If you do a screen shot, phone # should not be visible at the bottom of the screen. Private info is under your phone #. I want to see your network states

Your phone just needs to be repovisioned. Return to stock and dial
*2767*3855#
That will wipe your phone and reprovision it.

I got the s iii sunday. flashed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114 to get unlocked bootloader, root, and twrp. no problem. stock with root. I tried CM10.1. things got interesting. I lost my data. roaming.
things I did to try to fix it.
factory reset
restore backup in twrp i made
flash the factory image
now im starting to get worried. read a bit about the modem, imei and the like. used the tool here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442 - still nothing. repaired ERL and IMEI but still no data. i downgraded the modem and tried again. no luck. is there any where to go from here? any input would be helpful.

You just take a breath. OK? I was there with old miui. I had the roaming triangle. I've been doing this for a few years or so and never had this happen. I got new sim ...boom problem solved. Yes I did EVERYTHING..lol
Edit. First Odin back to stock. But that didn't work for me either but worth a shot. You tried a factory data reset from stock backup too? If that doesn't work. Its your sim card is fried. When you call out do you get the credit card option to make call? If so just get new sim. Then stick it in and it will re sign

First off wrong forum this is for development not data issues.
If you read the CM 10.1 thread things that worked was flashing an unofficial CM10.1 build which you can find on rootzwiki or try using odin to revert back to stock touchwiz.
Also try going through the setup wizard on stock touchwiz rom after you go through it the first time.

I had a time where i thought i lost my IMEI but i ran the setup wizard a second time and it activated.

First, check if your imei is intact. If so just odin back to ics stock, and to reprovision code, notw that it will delete your internal sdcard and I think extcard also. The code is *2767*3855#

Thanks all that provided input. i went to an ics build, flashed bootloader and the stock image, reprogrammed the imei, and did a factory format. Turned on and had data.
Hi, trying to USE the app GSII_repair from the android store.
Phone phone seems to be having the "no sim card" error come and go, I think there is some weird problem with the radios, pulling my hair out.
No the app i got, that might fix it says you don't have .nv_data.bak and his md5 files, canceled
I wonder if this helps figure this out ?

Your efs may be hosed which wouldn't be good. That's above my grade level. See if cschmitt can help. He's your only hope of it is a hosed efs.
EDIT, I just looked at that app, and sorry dude, but I think you hosed your phone. It messes with the partitions and is not for the i727.

What does your baseband say in settings, about phone? Also, check your apn settings.

I used that app before and got the same thing. I odin'd back to stock GB at the time. Flashed a gb radio (Ics leak just came out) That worked for me.
However this should fix your problem.

when i try to go to the "moble networks" menu,and click the apns, there is none, when i try to ad my apn settings, after i fill everything and out and hit save, it is blank under apns.
If I were you I would start from scratch and Odin the newest official release of at&t or Rogers depending on what carrier you're on. Did you reflash the radio?

So here is where i am at now..
Have flashed Slim Bean, and various radios, I had the factory firmware on there for a while, it up and running, I have and IMEI number, my sim card it being picked up as it says rogers, but it says "no service".. it's weird because in the APN settings, it gets the settings from the network, they are there (rogers LTE) so it must be connecting somehow right ?
I have tried searching for available networks, nothing comes up, it's like my attennas are off or broken.
Is there any way to force my phone to see if has any antenna working or something ?

I am on HyperDrive RLS15- Stock Kernel and updated to the Cobalt Theme and when it installed i can not call out, receive calls, Text out or receive Text's either and i have no idea what i did wrong. Mobile Data isn't working only thing that is working is Wifi.

I would reflash the Hyperdrive ROM with no theme. I've had that happen a few times when applying a theme to my ROM. if you flash the Hyperdrive ROM and it still doesn't work I'd flash a different ROM.
After flashing, (of course after full wipe) test calls and messages and contacts apps. Then if you flash a mod or theme after that. Try your phone,text and contacts again. If they do not work, then your theme has borked them.
I have tried re flashing the ROM and still nothing i wiped everything that needed to be wiped before flashing and still nothing. I didn't think a theme would make this happen. But I guess another ROM wouldn't hurt to see if it works then. Will post back after and I might need some help though if it does not work

Go to System Settings > About Phone > Status. Under IMEI there should be a 15 digit number. If it's missing or just says 0 then you lost your IMEI, which is basically your phone's network ID number. Also is your phone number correct as listed in that menu?

Assuming you didn't make a back up, you're going to have to restore it. Here's the link to a tutorial: http://droidmodderx.com/galaxys3/?page_id=79
It is pretty involved so make sure you read the instructions carefully. Are you familiar with ODIN, because the first thing you have to do is flash back to a stock rooted ROM. Use this thread for that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762204
If you don't feel comfortable doing all of it I would get somebody that does. You can easily hard brick your phone using ODIN. Also, ODIN will completely erase your internal memory. So I would make a backup of any photos/files you need before proceeding.

Yeah i have a friend that helped me use Odin but hes not on Skype and he won't be anytime soon i believe, i don't trust myself doing it alone.
The first thing I would try would be to flash the mbf1 radio.
I have had similar issues and that's the easy fix.

I haven't heard of this fixing the missing IMEI issue but if it does that's excellent! It would be so much easier. Give it a try, it couldn't hurt.

He is right, getting your imei back is only halfway home. Your ERI should say 5 and under mobile network is should say Verzion Wireless. Some people have said using Odin to go back to stock and reprovisioning your phone with a numerical keypad entry works but I can't comment because I recovered mine without doing that. I had to use a special diagnostic tool to fix my ERI when I lost it. Its called an Odin to stock and a trip down to the local vzw store lol

I went straight back to Stock unrooted to see if it worked and it still never worked and i called verizon cuz i think it's the Sim Card.

Yeah if i can't get to work soon then i need to go to the vzw store and see if they can help me with my issue so i don't have to pay for a new S3 full price

I do recommend once you get your phone straightened out go to the Synergy rom thread and find the zip to backup your imei and eri and put it away for safe keeping just in case.
