What do you guys think, will ASUS slash the price of the TF300T (hopefully to an accessible $300) once they launch the Infinity?

I don't think so, the infinity will replace the Prime not the TF300. The 300 is replacing the TF101. So, we should see a price drop on the Prime model if there's still anymore out there.

So you're saying that they've stopped making the Prime?
Man, if they sell the TF300 for $300 THEY WILL ABSOLUTELY KILL (iPad and all)!!! They will end up selling 10 millions in one week.

Don't know if they stopped, but from what I have read in this forums is that the Prime hasn't been available in stores that much, compared to the TF300. Anyways, I bet stores will do some deals for the tablet, maybe you can get one around $350 soon. MicroCenter had them at $350 without tax and S&H included.

Yeah, but if it currently costs $320 to build ( just a made up number. I have no idea.), then they will lose 200 million dollars a week according to your 10 million a week projection.

If they know the'ye gonna sell 10 millions in one week, they should be able to lower the production costs (to around $250, say?).

Now I'm interested. How does one just go and lower production costs? Most manufacturers have the production lines set to go as quickly as possible while maintaining a quality standard (some companies not maintaining).
Although I did just remember that bulk buying components saves a lot of money. I clearly need to think this through before I try to debate this. my apologies.

No way they are dropping to $300 anytime soon. Asus is trying to make a profit. Not indulge your weird wet dreams.
The infinity is supposed to sell for $599 without the dock. So I doubt you'll see the TF300 drop much below where it is now, as it's already $200 cheaper.

I'm getting the impression that the Prime is being withdrawn. I think the WiFi and GPS issues doomed the tablet.

I don't think anyone would sell a GTablet for an iPad, that would be a completely idiotic move. It's more than likely they're recouping funds to buy a Xoom, Adam (aka something with a better screen) or one of the many newer Honeycomb tablets coming in March/April...or maybe iPad 2 when it comes.
No iPad here!!! XOOM, baby!
Just read an article that pointed to Best Buy for a new Asus 10 inch android tablet with better specs than our beloved gTabs for $400. And... it's already got honeycomb.
Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet

The Asus Transformer is delayed for a U.S. launch now until the end of this month due to supply shortages.

I *really* hope they can release it at $400, the recent video preview (Via Slashgear) made it pretty attractive (to me at least).
This is one of the devices I was eyeing. Allegedly it has an IPS screen as well. Anyone who's read my posts long enough knows how badly I want an IPS screen.
Yep, the Eee Pad Transformer looks like a winner to me.

I guess we'll have to wait for someone here to get one in their hands and do a proper review.
If it gets love from the creative folks at xda then I may sell off my second gTab and pick one of these up once it's released to the public.
and im now disappointed in my gtab before i even get it, thanks alot!
hopefully it cant be rooted =D
At this price I'm interested as well. I have a couple of friends who are interested in my Gtablet with the Vegan rom and accessories for around $300. If Honeycomb isn't available for the Gtab by the time this comes out I may make the switch.
Isn't it being released April 6th? 5 days?!?!

Don't be. It's $285 (assuming you are a Woot! user) and this ASUS device has NOT been released yet. It may not show up for a month, or longer.
The GTAB will be dated one day, but that's going to happen for all electronics, it's unavoidable.
That dock (that basically turns the tablet into a laptop) looks sweet! Even though the price for the dock hasn't been announced (at least not to my knowledge) I want it.
Also, the fact the tablet comes with an HDMI port on it rather than relying on the dock is also pretty cool.
It will be very interesting indeed to get the review when someone here can get their hands on it.
If I can confirm this will be available for $400 @ Best Buy next week, I will be putting my gtab on craigslist ASAP and coughing up the $115 extra for IPS screen with honeycomb!

Don't be, man. If you always want the latest and greatest, you will never buy anything at all. Ever. With the number of companies in the world and how fast they are moving in research and development, whatever you buy will always be outdated.
Personally, I think the gtab is good for me for at least a few years.

I would wait to see the reviews. The Motorola Xoom (honeycomb) out of the box wasn't as zippy as our gTabs.
And besides, you got a helluva deal on your gTAB purchase compared to early adopters like me that paid the $400 on them in November/December of last year. Who knows, if you get your gTab and put a custom ROM on it (I'm running VEGAn 5.1.1) you may decide to wait a while before you fork out that extra $115.

the only flaw for the gtab is the screen viewing, which im sure a IPS screen would resolve
ill be watching this closely. thanks for the heads up. and with roebeet on-board, the possibilities are endless.

Idk if this should be in the market-place or not, but is there anywhere i can find the Transformer for under $400? Newegg is $398, best price. But idc about $2. Should i try ebay or what?
id say buy somewhere you can return it if you have an issues. really i dont think it can get any cheaper than 399.99 i got mine at best buy.

You also have to take into account possible RMAs if you get a bad version. Newegg also doesn't charge tax in certain states. So those small things could be the deal breaker if you want to save a little money.

I highly suggest Amazon. It's $398 there also and if you have a prime account you get free 2 day shipping.
Amazon has by far the best customer service out of any supplier I have ever purchased anything from. If you have any problems at all the CS takes care of it fast and easily.
I tend to get as many electronics as possible from Amazon because they give me an ease of mind should anything go wrong with the device I know there won't be any hassle to return it.
Also, there is no sales tax (at least here in texas there isn't not sure about where you are located) making the price almost equal to the bestbuy deal I believe.

Optimus Prime offers the best advise. Buy it where you have the best return policy. I am on my second TF and some members have returned theirs multiple times for different issues. My screen died and the new one I replaced it with has worse screen light leaks than the first one and I would like to return it if it gets any worse. Get yours where you will be able to return it without any hassels if you need to. On the TF, I would probably advise buying the 1 year replacement insurance from your retailer so you don't have to box it up and send it off to Asus repair facilty in Texas after your standard 30 day retailer warranty policy expires. I have read some real horror stories...

My buddy was looking for a tablet and I sent him the coupon (that expired today 6/17) and he walked out happy.
$350 for a major player on the front line of the android tablets is a great deal.

I have bought quite a few tablets. The TF is a great device but has manufacturing issues. I like my TF, it has the most storage of any device currently out there. My 32GB TF with 32GB MicroSD and 32GB SD has more than I should ever need. The screen resolution is the best, the battery dock allows for 16 hours of use, handy on my overseas flights. To answer your question, I think if you wait for the perfect device, you will never see it. I will buy them as they come along and be educated on each one...

darn you're lucky... Wish I could live a lifestyle of extravagance like that. Maybe one day.
I've owned a Galaxy Tab10.1, and others, before returning them and making my "real time experience" with each one. So, I can say I've owned a few tablets too but I only own one now

I personally am very picky about how something functions and how it should be working. I expect something to work as it should. The transformer so far does the job well other than the light bleed i have no issues. but also do understand things do sometimes with time malfunction... but not with in the first 2 months of owning said item.
i did buy the extended warranty from best buy though. Screw Asus and their RMAs thingys might as well take it to the store cant fix it. the replace it
picky me... im on my 5th phone actually with in 2 months because they didnt work as expected. i dont put up with bull ha!
After having my Eee Pad for just over 3 months I have decided I now want the dock so I can use it more productively. In the UK I can get the dock for around £100-£120 but I cant help but think this price may quickly drop upon the launch of the TF Prime. Is there a release date for the Prime yet, does anyone else agree the price is likely to decrease quickly after the TF Prime goes on sale?
I'm not sure whether to buy the dock now, to see that it suddenly gets much cheaper in month or so, or wait and buy the dock later (depending on Prime release date) and keep the savings.
I expect it will, depending on how long you want to wait for it and what the initial price there is/was. Here in the USA, I believe it has gone down from $150 to $99, to make room for Prime.
Hmm, if I was paying to upgrade to Prime, I would be tempted to develop a ROM called "Optimus" just for the hell of it.

I'd say it really depends on what you're willing to spend. If you decided you wanted it two days ago, you could have gotten one from best buy for 249. I would wait if I had the extra cash, the tech gets so old fast so it's the only way you can stay on top of it.
It depends. I got my transformer off someone locally for 200$ a month ago. After one month of using it I still feel that I could never spend 500$ on a few tablet. Dont get me wrong this thing is amazing but I still prefer my 200$ net book. I just bought it as an expensive to mess around with and to play around with android on a tablet.

I just got one a few days ago for my kids. I think you should get one if you don't care about having the latest specs. It is a fine tablet that you and your family can enjoy for a while until prime 2 comes out
If you can afford a Prime, wait for one. I own TF1, but 2nd makes it look ancient. I would wait.
I think the Prime has enough features to wait a month or two for, but for someone who already has the TF101, I am riding out this device for a while and see what comes out in several more months to come.

see, wanting to get it at the 250 price is what got me into this mess haha. I saw it was going to be on sale and I figured I'd pick one up if it was a good buy. So I did my research and decided I wanted one reallllly bad. Of course all the best buys in my area were out of them before I could get one. Now I'm just considering buying it at the regular price, though I feel a not like the rest of you and can't justify spending so much on a tablet haha idk

FYI - you can still get the Transformer for $299 @ GameStop!
Foe the price difference, I would get the original Transformer. It is still a very fast tablet and you really can't beat the price ($400 for tablet and dock compared to $499 for the TF Prime tablet alone - not sure what the dock costs for the Prime).
Besides, we still don't know what kind of issues we'll run into with the Prime yet - just like the original keyboard dock had a hardware issue that needed an RMA to fix...
